I have shopped here two different times in search of AKDO tile! The staff is very knowledgeable and provided me and my contractor with helpful suggestions. I ended up purchasing the Sublime Plume Calcatta for an accent wall and Ivy Calcatta backsplash for the bathroom. This store has a beautiful assortment of tile to choose from. Stay away from this tile distributor. Ordered travertine tiles from Coastal Tile & stone. We had the option to buy direct from the tile supplier, but we opted to pay $550 more to get the service of a local distributor. The distributor sold us not only the wrong color/pattern tiles, but these tiles were all defect. Large chips, broken tiles, insufficient material, lots of filler, etc. Garret, the manager from the distributor had never inspected the goods before passing them on. He ignored all our quality concerns, did not even come over to our house to verify and consistently tried to blame his supplier. His responses were unprofessional and even insulting. Please, stay away from this hands-off distributor who does not stand behind the goods he sells. read more

While I ended up not being able to get my tile here for my current project, I do want to recognize Jessica was immensely helpful (more than any other shop I visited) in find the right tile for my kitchen backsplash. I have been working with Coastal Tile for about 4 years and buy a lot of tile and stone. I can't say enough good things about this company. It is a small business with the excellent customer service that usually comes with smaller businesses. Michele, especially, is superb. She has great taste, super helpful, and excellent follow through. Everyone is nice there and the tile selection is expansive, though not overwhelming like some larger stores can be. If they don't have want you want, they will find something similar or call around to help you find it. Honestly, they are the best. read more

The tile selections are beautiful, but there is a negative vibe coming from the staff: 2 seemed to dislike one another (1 of whom scoffed at me for not liking the same tile she liked), and another talked down to me a bit. My wife went into this store today to get some help with a remodel we are working on. Staff member David was rude to her, unhelpful and as my wife put it, "snobby". He directed her to go to Home Depot instead of taking the time to better understand what she wanted to do and what she trying to purchase. No one should have an experience like this. Customer service is paramount in a business like this one. I would recommend that anyone who is interested in quality tile go elsewhere. Before I wrote this review, I called this store and asked to speak with David directly to resolve what happened. I was told I would get a call back within the hour. Great customer service from everyone we worked with at Coastal Tile & Stone. Jessica returned my phone call in a timely manner and set aside samples for me to take home. When we picked up the samples she was not working but another guy (did not catch his name) helped us out and was very informative about the type of tile we were looking at and even recommended some installers to us. All transactions were either through email or phone calls which made it very convenient, as we live in South County, so it was difficult to get to the store. All in all this could not have gone more smoothly for us. Picking tile can be VERY overwhelming, luckily everyone at Coastal tile is amazing! We worked with David and he was so patient with our ever-changing wants and ideas... he gently guided us without making us feel like tile idiots. (which I most definitely am, but he never once made me feel that way.) He went over and beyond what he needed to do to help us with our project. I bought the tile, They required I paid upon ordering. They told me that it would be ready by a certain date. I told them that I needed the order on that specific date because I had the tile man scheduled When I went to pick up the tile on the agreed date, only part of the order was ready. The other part of the order was not in. When I could not get the tile on time I told them that I would like to cancel the order but they said that it was not possible and to read the invoice that says: no returns or exchanges without prior "written" authorization... and the fine writing keeps going on and on... but surprisingly, nothing mention reference delivery date. They tricked me by giving me a verbal delivery date but they didn't write it in the invoice. Please make sure that this doesn't happen to you. I will never buy anything else at Coastal Tile but If you do, understand that once you paid is yours and make sure they write in the invoice the pickup date. And by the way, I found another tile store down the block that has a much larger inventory than Coastal Tile and they clearly documented the delivery date on the invoice for me, its called Mission tile. read more

I was referred to this place by a contractor so I went and made an appointment with Ryan. I looked around the showroom and was waiting for him to come. He clearly knew I was there and was waiting for him for a long time. He finally came and ask me what I needed. Afterwards he disappeared and helped another customer who just came. I ask him a question and told me that his busy getting samples for this customer. The receptionist had to stepped in for him because I was clearly not being help by anyone. But didn't I not made the appointment with Ryan? I didn't stick around. I will not come back here again. I will make sure to tell anyone that's doing a remodel not to come at this place. Very poor service! I told that contractor too who told me that they send a lot of clients to them. They should check Yelp before they start sending people there. read more

I needed a fairly large quantity (630 sq. ft.) of outdoor tile for a backyard project. All the people I dealt with at Coastal Tile were professional, personable and extremely helpful, especially Garrett! I got the perfect tile for a very reasonable price which was delivered exactly according to schedule. When I found out at 3 PM on a Friday that I needed 70 sq. ft. more of the tile to finish the job, I made a quick phone call to Garrett. We spoke, and he got back to me before the end of the day saying he had secured the additional tile from the same source as the first batch making sure the color match was exact. The extra tile was delivered the following Monday keeping my project on schedule. I can't say enough good things about the people and service at Coastal Tile and Stone and highly recommend them! read more

I called the store before I visited. Spoke with Misty who cordially assisted me in locating marble tile to replace some chipped and broken tile in my home. She asked me to send a picture of the marble I was searching for via text (in order to save me the initial trip to the store) which I thought was convenient and thoughtful. Misty was able to locate similarly colored and patterned marble for me, and had them ready to showcase when I arrived at the store. I ordered the marble and Misty continued to keep me informed via text as to its delivery. My experience was extremely positive. Good selection but can be rude and arrogant (depending on the day they are having). And god forbid you have a question or are confused on an order, they have no problem talking back to their customers. I've watched it on more than several occasions. Misty comes off helpful but beware... She's a wolf in sheep's clothing. There are so many stores of this kind that carry all the same stuff, there is no need to shop in a store where your patronage is not appreciated. Doing a major home remodel I soooo appreciate this shop. They go above and beyond in helping with selection and service. Michelle is a dream and has helped me so often in trying to get the most beautiful stone and tiles. Ryan is wonderful and everyone is very knowledgeable. I often have to bring my 10 year old daughter and they couldn't be more accommodating. Been to lots of tile places and this is the best in terms of selection and service. I used costal tile to purchase our materials for our master bath remodel. I would HIGHLY recommend them! To start they have a wonderful selection to choose from. I interacted with all of the employees who were all friendly and helpful. Misty ended up being the one that really helped me select my materials. She is awesome. She helped with understanding what things were worth spending a little more for and was great about recommending lower cost alternatives when it made sense! I really appreciated that.
