Love their food, especially the steak salad and fried oysters. Only thing I don't like is that it's SOOOO loud inside. Very difficult when dining with anyone who is hard of hearing. Food is always consistently good and the servers are great. It's not very big in the bar/dining area however,they do have outside seating. They also have a good kids menu. My go to restaurant. I've heard they have prime rib on Sundays. I've not confirmed it. read more

We went there for dinner on 09-01-2024. We ordered onions rings for an appetizer, which were great, but after only a few minutes, while we were still eating our onion rings, the waitress brings our dinner, saying "here's your dinner, double up" we ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The Prime Rib was the worst I have ever eaten. Lukewarm, tough as leather. Obviously it was old and reheated. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were lukewarm and bland as the prime rib. We also ordered a Caesar salad with blackened mahi-mahi. the mahi-mahi was only seared, with pepper sprinkled on it, nothing like "blackened" like the menu says, and the Caesar salad was very bland and had no taste. The alcoholic drink we ordered was very weak. Very disappointing. Just an average pub type venue. read more

Good option for diner-style food in the area, And they are very reasonably priced, especially if you consider how prices have been going up everywhere else - 3 of us had lunch for under $40 before tip, and that includes the upgrade to onion rings as a side for one of us. The decor is train-themed since the restaurant was converted from the old train station. Naturally it's right along the train tracks so it would be a good place to bring any train enthusiasts, young or old. We had lunch here while catching up with a friend and our server was gracious in giving us the time to chat while checking in from time to time to make sure we didn't need anything. The food came out relatively quickly and we all enjoyed the burgers and sammies we ordered. I liked that you could get coleslaw or fries/tots as a side (though both would have been better, but it was plenty for me), and the Hubs was happy to pay a slight up-charge to get onion rings as his side. They also have a gluten-free bun option for a small up-charge, but I was being naughty and had their regular bun (which was buttered & toasted & oh-so-good, holding up well to my juicy burger). read more

The waitress was INCREDIBLY rude. We showed up with our dog, and they were the first place under "dog friendly restaurants nearby", and before saying hi, she yelled "NO DOGS!!!". We just moved to OC and we're in search of some good food. I must say, we found It!!!!!! We went for a early dinner around 5 and beat the crowd. I ordered the Blue Burger and my husband got the Cod Fish snd Chips. Both were delicious, hot, and were brought out in a timely matter. No reason not to give Coasters five stars. We go to Coasters pretty regularly and the drinks are always stiff, food is always delicious and fresh, and the service is always quick and friendly. Even when it's been very crowded during summer concerts, we have been able to get a seat in no time at all. During the good weather it's fun to sit outside. Breakfast lunch and dinner! Delicious food! If I'm being honest, our experience with the waitress was poor. Our oysters, which we were told were small, were HUGE. They also came out after our entrees, so we couldn't finish them or save them. We left feeling disappointed about the service but good about the food (because it really was so yummy). The owner ended up finding us before we left and asked about the food. We told him what happened. This guy took a twenty from his own wallet and gave it to us. Like whaaattt??? I've never had an owner be so generous and bold. The food really made up for the waitress (which the owner let us know how new she was), but the experience with the owner will keep this place a staple for our family. So personable and kind. Oh, and the cherries they add to their Shirley Temples are the Luxardo's, which are the best kind. Being a sober household, little things like that make a big difference :) read more

I need to give the benefit of the doubt. We decided to go for Father's Day lunch. Arrived at 11:20 as their lunch menu kicks in at 11:30. Sign said see host for outside dinning. Went to the main entrance. I had to wait inside the entrance for 10 mins before someone even came over to ask if I was eating inside or out. Luckily we were taken outside to a table with a view of the rail tracks / platform (I love trains). unfortunately they must be short staffed as we had to wait 20 mins to get our order taken. I picked steak frites - medium, my wife picked chicken and "waffles" (oh there is a waffle story coming...) my daughter picked the French Toast. As we sat there (umbrella was too small to accommodate all 3 of us - I chose to let my wide and daughter get the shady side) I started to realize other tables before us were not getting their food. Uh-oh I thought to myself the food better be really good to compensate (I read there might be a wait but the food is really good). So finally after what seemed like another 30-40 mins, the food arrived. My steak was OK - I asked for medium (pink) but there was none, the fries were ok. My daughters French Combo was good - but light on bacon and scrambled eggs. Now my wife was really anticipating the chicken strips (based on yelp reviews). The Chicken was pretty good - some parts were more crusted coating than actual chicken. But here's where is goes off the rails (interesting the place is next to the tracks). The "waffles" were Eggo waffles. You could see that a mile away. They were pale yellow (just like they came out of a frozen box). The other tell tale sign was they were 1/4 inch thick (or should I say - flat?). They were also "soggy". They tried to camouflage the "Eggo-ness" by adding some grill marks. Come on folks - even chain hotels has a waffle machine thing that flips and makes a 1 inch thick nicely browned crispy waffle. So overall assessment - this place has promise - I love the location. There are other items on the menu I am dying to try. I need to come back (as things open up more) and see if Fathers Day was an aberration coupled with most restaurants being short handed due to covid. read more

Best food around ! But the ramp to walk up to eatery on the NW side of the building is a horrible trip hazard, fell flat on my face and thought for sure I had broke my wrist . All is fine but sure bruised my pride. They really should block the spot of the ramp as it has a huge step up that is not a obvious marked hazard . Great Good ! read more
