Acai Bowl

Although I love the breakfast sandwiches and açaí bowls here, I was disappointed to find that their grab-and-go options are overpriced and not worth it. It was $4 for a tiny container of berries and $8 for a yogurt parfait with barely any toppings. Although it's in a convenient location near the public garden, I will head to the Trader Joe's or Whole Foods nearby for my grab-and-go items instead.

Pear and Gouda

Tried Cobblestones through a catering option at work and was pleasantly surprised. I got the pear and Gouda sandwich and added turkey--great flavor combo, and even with the added meat, the price was still lower than what I typically pay at similar spots in the area. They also included side options like small containers of fresh fruit, which I really appreciated. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were just right, and I'd definitely order from here again. Solid option for lunch, especially if you're looking for something a little different than the usual.

Great food in a quaint café right on the corner. It obviously is a community favorite. The breakfast was incredible and the pastries were wonderful. The coffee was really good too. If I lived here, I would frequent this place multiple times a week. The staff are very friendly as well.

Meatball Sub with Strawberry Lemonade

Parking is hard to find, we were walking by around the area so easily accessible. No restroom or hand sanitizer. Place feels small, they do have outdoor seating but it's closed if it had rained. I thought it was pricey for a simple meal. Sandwhich was $16 and drink was $9. Don't get me wrong the meatball sub and drink was delicious! I got full with half(easily shareable). My sister liked the colonial sub but didn't like the Arnold Palmer.

Brief Summary: - Coffee is not sour - Indoor and outdoor seating available The day was hot and after walking for some time we needed a place to rest -- for more walking. After making some good walks around Beacon Hill, this cafe at a corner of one of the streets lured us in. There were some tables outside, but there were more inside, including a bar stool like area. We had no appetite except for cold drinks and desserts, so we ordered iced coffee and ice cream. The coffee wasn't sour but without any cream or sugar additions, it was a condensed coffee. However, we also ordered this with ice cream, so its sweetness balanced it out. We sat near the bear tables that lined up against the windows, so I enjoyed the relaxation of sipping iced coffee and observing people walking past.

A wonderful little Cafe for breakfast, lunch, or just a snack. Stopped in for a coffee during a morning rain. Got a latte with oat milk, and it was so well prepared. Fresh ground and ever so good. It definitely hit the spot. The staff was very friendly and kind. The offerings look wonderful and highly recommend it.

Vanilla Latte

We stopped here for brunch one morning. It's not too far from the MGH redline stop or from Boston Commons. I didn't find their latte selection to be very broad or full of seasonal flavors, but they do offer the basics. I had their pear and Gouda grilled cheese which was delicious. It comes with a nice fig spread which brings alot of flavor. Between the Gouda and pear, it is the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Highly recommend. My husband had the breakfast burrito and said it was okay. He didn't feel as though it was packed with flavor and felt it was missing a sauce - maybe like a chipotle sauce. He had a vanilla latte and I had a cappuccino. My cappuccino was pretty good. My husband enjoyed his vanilla latte but I would say if you only want a coffee- this isn't the place for you. As for seating, you can sit both inside or outside. There is not much service. You purchase your meal, they deliver it and then never come back to check on you. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing- more so- it's just how they are designed.

Always a treat to walk in to "Jen's kitchen"! It's a special place with great food Beacon Hill is lucky to have this restaurant!

chocolate croissant
Angelina Z.

I got heart palpitations and felt lightheaded in the midst of my run, so I was in need of some sustenance. Cobblestones is right off Boston Commons, and it's so pretty to just walk around the Beacon Hill area. I got a chocolate croissant, which was quite buttery and flakey, and I also appreciated that the employees heated it up for me. Pastry prices aren't listed on the menu, and I was surprised to find that the croissant was $5.88 after tax, which was quite pricey considering how airy it was. I probably wouldn't come here again because of that, but the croissant definitely alleviated my palpitations.

Italian Sub: $20 for a foot long, the meat was so plentiful it's almost overflowing, enough for two meals. The prisciutto was tender and juicy; the salami was firm and savory with a strong smokiness. Both are thinly sliced, so despite the thick stack, it was relatively easy for a bite. The provolone cheese was also generously portioned, with a robust yet not spicy flavor and a subtle nutty aroma, perfectly complementing the two meats. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar were particularly outstanding: mellow, tangy, and with a fruity aroma of grapes, key to the complex flavor profile. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were all fresh, especially the onions were refreshing and a little zingy, perfect for removing the greasiness. Unfortunately, I was worried about not being able to roll it back up properly and making it inconvenient to carry (which it actually happened), so I took it away and ate it at the office. After about 40 minutes, the bread had become somewhat dry and hard.

But I'm actually writing about the company's website and phone recording. Once, on a prior holiday, and today due to a winter storm, I wasn't sure if the restaurant was open. In both cases (where the restaurant turned out to be closed), the website (appropriately) didn't allow online orders, and (more importantly) THE OUTGOING PHONE RECORDING WAS UPDATED WITH CURRENT INFORMATION. In an era where businesses barely have phone numbers to call, or employees who answer with something other than 'hello', is rare (and by the way, this is the fault of management if they don't properly train their staff). It was the gold standard for a real sandwich in the city. Sadly, the magic has faded. Between the soaring prices and the shrinking portions, the value just isn't there anymore. You can taste the "corner-cutting"--the flavors aren't as bold as they used to be, and the sandwiches feel noticeably smaller even though the cost has increased exponentially - I mean $30 for a sammy?! It should have gold in it! Even then, I'd keep coming once in awhile if the service was worth it. but honestly - the staff seems burnt out even bright early in the morning. It's hard to justify the premium price for a shadow of what this place used to be.

We were blessed with being able to try the table sandwich. The focaccia was fresh along with the mozzarella and arugula. Since we made an online order which quoted us 45 minutes, our sandwich was ready in 20 so unfortunately, the chicken cutlet was not as fresh as we would've liked. Sidenote, the first day we attempted to order in person they quoted us an hour, so we decided to place an order of the following day. Highly recommend placing the order and staying local to be safe. The vodka sauce in the sandwich was sooooo good, definitely one of the best I've found in boston. They also provide you with a whole container of sauce to dip your sandwich into (highly recommend doing that). What lost the star is that I felt there wasn't enough basil. For that huge sandwich, there was actually very few bites with basil. I wish there was more of it, and I also wish there was some other green in there like arugula. The spinach tortellini with the pesto cream sauce is my absolute favorite- it's a HUGE portion and so delicious. It usually lasts me at least 2 meals. The bread they include is also great! I like to dip it in the sauce. The past time I got Dino's I accidentally ordered spinach ravioli instead of tortellini...that was my bad. HOWEVER I think I might have found my new favorite? The raviolis are huge and so fat. I'm talking like 1/2 inch - 3/4 inch thick. There is so much stuffing and the spinach ricotta mix tastes so fresh and delicious...it's a must try. I've also gotten the eggplant parm before, and the fettuccini Alfredo. Both were also delicious. I've never had any of the sandwiches, but if they are anything like their pastas then I'm sure they are great! The bang for your buck here is also great which is nice. Highly recommend! Every search for…read morebreakfast spots mentioned Mike & Patty's as a must stop for the best breakfast sandwich you're going to get anywhere. Enough said! I'm a huge breakfast fanatic, especially a good breakfast sandwich or burrito. This is the original location that was started by two friends and has grown to multiple other locations since. We took an Uber here from our hotel. I imagine if you drive over here, parking will be a challenge. It's almost easy to miss. It sits on a corner of a brick building with just writing on the windows. In all my research I did not catch that it is the smallest restaurant in Boston at only 175 square feet. It's basically a room with most of the space taken by the tiny kitchen. There's also a little tiny ledge on the window with a couple of stools for those who may want to dine in. Customers including us took turns walking in and putting in our orders and then stepping out to make room for more people. It had a steady line the whole time we were there. Hours are limited from 7:30-2 so don't delay. Customer service was straight business, kind of the norm in Boston. Their menu is breakfast sandwiches, a couple of burritos and some lunch options like a turkey sandwich, BLT, or a Rueben. For sides, they have hashbrowns or a plain English muffin. For a small menu, they do have quite a few drink options like coffee, tea, juices, and different flavored milks including banana milk which I have never seen. For their food, they use high quality ingredients from local farms and purveyors and have their own bakery for their bread. My eyes fixated on the Breakfast Grilled Crack mainly for the name, but also all the ingredients looked tasty. It was quality eggs, bacon, four cheeses on sourdough bread. I went extra and added sausage to it as well. I also got OJ to wash it down. We realized our only option to eat comfortably was to go back to our hotel lobby to eat. Even with the travel time, the sandwich was nice and warm and the bread was still nice and crispy from the griddle. This sandwich was indeed one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. I almost felt guilty eating it because of how rich and cheesy it was. I would skip the hash brown next time. It did not travel well nor did it have anything special going on with it. Hands down one of my favorite meals of the trip that I would absolutely do again if I am in the area.
