Although Cobra Arcade Bar is far from being the first of it's kind, it is simply done better. Arcade bars are great because they are a combination of two types of fun: liquor and video games. The reason cobra stands out to me among the rest of its kind is that it is an energetic place that serves more than just beer in its bar. Others of its kind are quiet other than the sounds of various video games in the background, but cobra keeps the energy alive whether you're playing a video game or just sitting and chatting with a group of friends (which actually is kind of hard to do because it is rather loud in there). The decor is unique and I love that the bar is very open. During the summer, it gets hot in there, but that's to be expected with tons of bodies gathering into one space. I haven't been in the winter yet, but I'm sure it will feel a lot more cool. The space is complied of several areas of seating, an outside patio, a bar, and two rooms filled with nostalgic video games. The staff is friendly and are even willing to make drinks they've had in the past which aren't on the menu any longer. My favorite drink to get when I'm there is the Princess Peach. I know it's super girly....but I'm a girl. Overall I will say that this is probably one of my newer favorite spots to meet up with friends. One learn though, first Friday's are not a good time to come here. Unless, of course, you like waiting in line for unforeseeable amounts of time while they do the whole, one person walks out and one person walks in to avoid violating fire codes. read more

OMG, barcades have to be one of the coolest, original ideas ever. Cobra takes it to a whole 'nother level, it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. Alcohol + old school arcade games + live music = absolute heaven. A friend and I decided randomly to make the trek to the Roosevelt area one weekend night from Tempe, and it certainly was worth it. By the time we arrived, it was absolutely lit inside. Lots of people enjoying themselves, a DJ spinning tunes, and a well-stocked bar were in sight. They even had a food truck parked out front! We grabbed some drinks and coins, perused the available games, then went to town. Couldn't have been more happy to find the ONE game I'm good at - Galaga! A few of the pinball machines weren't working but one of the employees gladly gave us more coins since ours had gotten eaten by them. I was sad we couldn't stay longer since they close @ 2a, but that will make the next visit even better! read more

This is a fun place with a great atmosphere on Sundays... On Fridays and Saturdays, you will occasionally see people fighting so it's a hit or miss (no pun intended). Great music, drinks are strong and they have games if you're into that. Salud!!! read more

You would think that being part of the Oregon Trail Generation that my husband and I would be the perfect age for this place with all of its video game nostalgia. However, we're way too old for this place. It was mostly college aged students who treated this place with the same fascination that I used to with Ed Debevic's. We might have enjoyed ourselves more if the games were free. I would think they would want them to be since there's plenty of money to made off of drinks, and if people stay longer, they drink longer. The drinks sounded fun but weren't made for a discerning old fogey palate. They definitely make the 20 somethings happy though because Cobra Arcade was packed! read more

Very cool retro bar in the valley! Love the throwback to the older arcade games...it was very nostalgic, which I enjoyed! It's nice that they have the indoor/outdoor seating, so we had fresh air even though we were inside. The drinks were good & the bartenders were very friendly. Just FYI they don't serve food, but they get the occasional food truck that pulls up to their parking lot. They do have free play, but I'm not sure if it's a daily thing or if it's during certain hours. I plan to return & play some more of those arcades! read more

I used to live across the street from another arcade bar on the East Coast, Barcade, and I enjoy this one a lot more. Cobra's chill, friendly vibe welcomes everyone, and all the games are "free play" so no quarters required. Yep, unlimited play of your favorite games! I personally enjoy playing my own old school favorites like, Street Fighter, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ms. Pacman, and Frogger. A big tip is that happy hours are a steal. Our tab came out to $12 once for four drinks, and while there's a more diverse beer and wine craft menu across the street, we always like stopping by here for some cheap drinks and fun nostalgic entertainment. read more

Pretty cool bar. Unfortunately I didn't have a ton of time to hang out here, but for the thirty minutes I was here I had a ton of fun. They have a full bar (didn't grab a drink) but more importantly they had a ton of classic arcade games. If you played any sort of arcade game as a kid you'll have a blast. Wanted to like this, but found myself bored. You'd think a trip back to your old favorite arcade games would be great, but it was just pumping quarters into games that weren't nearly as much fun as I remembered. Bartender was a bit of a jerk when my friend asked for a Moscow Mule and she wanted a driver's license to hold so the copper cup was returned. Considering this was our first stop of the night (after work happy hour) we were the only people in the place - don't think the cup would disappear without knowing. Ok, friends brought us here and I am so glad because it was a cool place. I enjoyed their beer and a mixed drink a LOT. I guess there was a food truck outside but I didn't see it before we were leaving or I would have seen what it had to offer. Either way, smart business being there for both of them! A fun place to come hang out with friends, grab a drink and play some games. I didn't realize their check in offer for 10 free tokens until I was leaving, but what a great offer! They have a wide selection of arcade games to play, including DDR. They have a full bar, but so far the drink I've had haven't impressed me. This bar is super fun. As a visitor from Vegas, my bestie and I decided to drop by here on a Saturday around 9PM. It wasn't packed when we got there but as the night went on, it definitely got pretty busy! Drink prices are pretty standard. But of course, the appeal and draw: the games. Super fun to play old school games like PacMan, Tetris, Tekken, Mario, etc. You have to get tokens to play but if you check in, you get like 10 to start off. Once it's crowded in there, you are waiting a little bit for your turn for games and there's not too too many places to hang out. I'm sure on a non-Summer night, it's nice to hang out outside but it was July and being outside was worse than being inside (Phoenix is obviously just hot). I expected the games to be more expensive than they were. With check in on Yelp you get 10 tokens which is nice. Most games take one. Great variety of games including pinball, DDR, Tetris, frogger, etc. The speciality drinks are actually pretty good- my favorite being the Bandita if you like mango/Mexican flavors. Both times I've been in there there was an event (birthday or work party) but it wasn't too crowded or busy. It's located right around the corner from Film bar and parking actually isn't too bad since they have designated spots for the bar. I guess the term "barcade" can't be used because its trademarked but that is what this place is. I wouldn't exactly call it a hole in the wall but it is fairly smalls. They have a lot of old school arcade games to chose from although some of them are broken and took my money (that's to be expected with machines from the 90's). Was visiting Arizona with a group of friends and we were looking for stuff to do in the area. Came across this bar and liked the concept, so hopped onto the freeway from Glendale and headed out to Phoenix. Again, the concept is pretty cool. It's just a classic place to chill with your friends. All of the games work and they have a huge variety. From street fighters/tekken to bubble bubble to DDR. DDR machine's steps are a little hard to step on (doesn't respond when stepped on), but not a big deal in my opinion. The drinks here aren't that strong (the ones on the list); they all either taste like juice or fruity soda, lol. Took a long time to get serviced though, but the duration of our bartender making our drinks was pretty quick. Overall, would come back if I was in the area. read more
