Cock Robin was a great lunch stop during our visit to the Santa Rosa/Sebastapol area. We ordered a chicken sandwich and the chicken tenders with sweet potato fries. It's worth noting that nothing comes in a combo here. Lunch was about $35. The service was good and the cashier was friendly. You order at the counter and get your own food here when it's ready. It didn't take too long for food to come out. The food was good. Chicken tender breading was a bit strange and did not offer much crisp. I wish they used a different breading process. Chicken sandwich had lots of flavor. The dips were bomb. I enjoyed the burger sauce the most. Some of the sweet potato fries ended up overcooked. The outdoor seating options here were awesome. I loved the back patio with turf areas for the kids to play in the gorgeous weather. (Dined Sunday, December 1st, and I know they were in the beginning stages of opening. My first impression review is with that in mind.) The line was sooooo long but we were determined to try this new spot in the Barlow. As a fan of Seismic, I was impressed how they turned it around and made the vibe their own! Loved the homage to their history, the outdoor fire pits, open and ample indoor seating, outdoor games, and easy straightforward menu. The young woman working the register (appeared) a little overwhelmed, as was the kitchen. She had us wait 10 minutes before ordering even after we had made it all the way to the front. I understand the reasoning but again, first impressions. We stood there awkwardly, trying to make somewhat of small talk, but I wish the owners/managers would've come over to interact and help her out. (Gentleman in a dress shirt/slacks, woman was in a similar outfit, so my assumptions were they were management of some sort.) We ordered what sounded good at the time and with no frame of reference of what was their standouts, we went with chicken tenders, fries, onion rings and a good ol' grilled cheese. (The Barlow boasts my fav grilled cheese ever at the Farmer's Wife.) Found a picnic table outside and waited. Yes, it was a long wait but it was to be expected since they were new and completely ok! I was underwhelmed with the texture and flavor of the chicken tenders, but the sauces were good. The grilled cheese was... not even cheesy. Not melted. Just a slap of cheese between two slices of griddled bread. The fries were likely sitting for a bit while they prepared the other items. Onion rings were good, ranch was tasty. Personally, I just think the kitchen was struggling getting everything out at the same time. After reading a bunch of posts I decided to check it out to decide for myself. Maybe the haters went on off nights because we had a great experience. Great location and space which will only get better when the summer arrives. Service was fast and everyone working seemed to be enjoying their job! We tried a bunch of things, single burger, double burger, chicken sandwich, regular fries, kale salad, chocolate malt and Brussels sprouts. Everything was great. Sure, the malt needed more malt but that's the only thing we could think of improving. To top things off, I discovered the very very cool hallway to the restrooms. LOVE it! I ordered the chicken tenders and fries and both left me wanting a different version of what was served. The chicken tenders were ok, no real spices or flavor that stand out to make them shine. The breading wasn't too thick, so that's cool. Not much of a crunch, more of an overall soft tender with little to no crunch. The tender was in fact tender, not dry. The fries. What a disappointment! Barely crispy, almost white they were so lightly fried and no salt. Limp little attempts at crispy golden fries. I ate since we were hungry but not again. Iggy's Organic Burgers of Healdsburg has taken over and is gradually replacing the menu; rebranding, re-staffing etc., Iggy's is solid & proven and should be a successful change... they currently have staff from the Healdsburg location working here & it is night and day... the professionals are in the house; Classic Robin is now made in the Iggy's model & is even better. read more

we came for the first time about a month ago. family of 4. 2 young kids. It wasn't really what I was expecting for the price we paid. The food just isn't that great for how expensive it is. I did love the space, nice and big, kid friendly. Kids menus were fun for the kids. My husband liked his burger , I got the Cobb salad and kids grilled cheese. The salad was ok. As a Sebastopol local, whenever a new business pops up in the Barlow I am both intrigued and skeptical. To me, the Barlow represents an overpriced picturesque(ish) space for tourists to stroll around with a majority of mediocre food businesses. So - Cock Robin. The space seems clean yet lack luster. Teenager worker were cordial and polite. Counter service was relatively swift. We ordered the wine country burger, crispy chicken sandwich, kale salad, regular and sweet potato fries, and a chocolate shake. The salad was straight forward, simply and refreshing with the apple and fennel. I didn't need the nuts they're quite big and hard but that's me. Fairly priced. The wine country burger with beef wagyu was alright, had some flavor but nothing impressive. Could definitely find a better burger around at a similar price point. The chicken sandwich we did eat third, so some time had passed, but despite the expected texture change after sitting a bit, it was overall flavorless and rather disappointing. The bacon reminded me of cafeteria bacon. The regular fries were edible but were not hot and were rather stale towards the bottom. The sweet potato fries were very bland and hard. Not crispy, hard. Chocolate shake was good, didn't wow me but also didn't taste loaded with additives and I can appreciate that. There isn't much creativity going on here but I get what they're going for. There are so many other great burgers in the area (Lunchbox/Rocker Oysterfellers/Ds Diner) I don't see myself coming back here. read more

Good food, horrible service. We asked for no cheese or sauce or avocado on my chicken sandwich, and we got it to go. When we got home, there was both the sauce and the cheese on there. So, the spouse drove back and told them the problem and asked for a replacement. They made us a replacement but gave us no discount or even an apology. When we got home the second time, they haven't added cheese, but they still added their nasty sweet sauce and a thick layer of avocado. By this time we've wasted 45 minutes trying to deal with it, and still didn't end up with an edible sandwich. Sigh. Going back again is just not going to happen, and calling them and bitching them out over the phone doesn't do any good other than let me let off a little steam. Ridiculous. I've been looking forward to trying Cock Robin ever since they announced their opening in The Barlow. I finally had the opportunity to go, and let's just say...I was a bit underwhelmed. They did a good job converting the old Seismic Brewing site into a restaurant. There are many booths, benches inside and out. The outside fire pits are a nice touch, as is the heated outdoor seating. Now let's get to the food. You order at the counter, get a buzzer and wait while they prepare your meal. The menu is pretty much burgers, chicken and a host of sides. Note: at the moment there is no alcohol being served (beer/wine). Let's see...I ordered a double burger, my wife a single...others in our group ordered the chicken sandwich, a bucket of chicken and more burgers. We also ordered the mac/cheese side, fries, Brussel sprouts (but received onion rings instead, which was odd) and some milkshakes. My burger was okay. Nothing to rave about. The chicken sandwich was huge and according to the person who ordered it, good. The fried chicken, according to the person ordering it, was good & not greasy. The big mystery was the mac & cheese. It brought discussing amongst the group about what it was missing. It definitely was missing something. Even the table adjacent to us, overheard our conversation and chimed in as well. They also believed on what they thought could have improved it. From the condiments offered, I tried tabasco sauce and salt. First trying the salt. When that wasn't it, I applied the tabasco. That seemed to help a bit, but a good mac & cheese shouldn't need anything added by the customer to help it out. The milkshake was actually pretty good. No complaints there. I saw reviews about the portions being small. That definitely wasn't the case w/ our orders. I wanted so much to like this place, but it didn't wow me. I don't go out of my way to get to Sebastopol much, so doing that just to go back to try Cock Robin may be a stretch. It may happen though. I'm really glad I came before reading the reviews I came for lunch at 2 and the place was relatively empty (like 6 different tables) so there was no wait. The counter person was sweet and the food came out fast. I got a double wrapped in lettuce and a Cobb salad- the burger was GOOD. Well seasoned and tasty. Would absolutely get again. The Cobb is good too- although the chicken could be warmed up a little and it would be easier to eat if it were in a bowl but those are my only complaints. The space itself is pretty but big- I could imagine it feeling a little overwhelming if it were packed with folks. I'm giving it a 5 because I literally have no complaints- the food is a solid 4. If I had a hard time in line/ rude servers/ etc then I'd probably have given it a 3, but I'm looking forward to coming back and trying other stuff. read more

My husband and I had time to take a date night without the kids, and he wanted to try out the new restaurant. The menu sounded simple, but good- I mean, a bacon burger? Yes, please. The parking situation wasn't bad, we found a place right away- this is not typical for the Barlow. The restaurant is beautiful, the outdoors spaces were thoughtfully done with fireplaces and cozy chairs to picnic tables. The inside was also beautiful. Open kitchen, plenty of seating and roll up doors to more outdoor seating. The woman at the counter was very nice, but just kinda waited there for our order. I tried to order alcohol, but she said that they were waiting on their license to come through. That might have been helpful to start with. But, it wasn't a deal breaker, and perfectly understandable. The food isn't cheap. We orders two burgers, fries Brussel sprouts, onions rings and a small sprite. Total was over $50. Now, here's where things took a turn. The food came out quick. Everything was wrapped nicely and looked delicious. However, the portion size was small. There were 5 onion rings in my order. The burger was palm sized, mine- not my husband's. The Brussel sprouts were generous. The burger was off. The meat was overcooked, the patty was very thin and just sad. The bun was good, I received onion after asking for no onions, bacon was good! The onion rings were good, very oily, and not enough. The Brussel sprouts were unsalted. The sprite was delicious. Overall, I won't be back. We live here in Sonoma county and there are so many amazing places to get a burger. I hope they make some improvements and do well. read more

We wanted to try everything because we were excited to have a new American food place in town that seemed like it would be good quality. The chicken tenders were the same quality as frozen tenders you'd get from the grocery store. The burgers were simple, bland, and thin. The buns did not hold together for the duration of eating the burger. The onion rings and fries were the best part of the whole thing and that's mainly because it's pretty hard to mess up fries and onion rings. They both still needed to be dipped in ranch or some type of sauce and didn't have the flavor to be eaten on their own. Basically a HUGE disappointment. Thought we were getting a quality American restaurant in town with burgers and fried chicken, and ended up getting something worse than almost every fast food place that's available nearby. Also, the employees got mad at me for going back up to the counter where I ordered when the notification block lit up instead of knowing that I was supposed to go over to the side counter, even though there was no signage of a designated spot for picking up the food. Have not gone back and will not gone back, just waiting and hoping for it to go out of business and be replaced by something valuable to the town. This is my second time visiting during their soft launch, and I enjoyed it! They have some things to work out, which is to be expected, but I hope that with a few improvements this place becomes a fun repeat lunch/dinner spot or place to meet up with friends. PROS: The indoor and outdoor seating areas are awesome; there's plenty of large tables inside with good spacing for accessibility and the outdoor fire pits are SO cute. There's also outdoor turf for pets or games, umbrellas for shade, large tables and fire pits with wood lounge chairs for hanging out. Everything is clean and neat. Great for small or large groups!I also like the self serve stations and the buzzers to let you know when your meal is ready. Cute serveware, and you can bring a whole pitcher of water to the table which is great, too. Food-wise, the Mac & Cheese was super yummy, I'll be getting that again for sure. I love the pasta shape and the sauce and toppings. The staff were all really nice, positive and professional - good team! CONSTRUCTIVE: The Caesar Salad was decent but not great (it was fresh and crisp, it just needed more flavor, maybe some anchovies, chili oil, larger cheese flakes or more salt/sauce? and the grilled chicken add on left something to be desired - it was largely diced breast meat, a bit tough and needed more flavor. Figuring out a way to take orders and prep meals quickly will be important since they have a ton of seating but can't take orders or cook fast enough. I would give 0 stars if I could. Tried to go tonight, waited for 15 minutes in line only to wait another 5 directly at the register. I asked why and they said that they can't get fresh food out fast enough, so can only take 5 orders at a time. Excuse me, what? The other problem with that is that they made each group of people wait like I did. I saw like, 2 patties on the grill with a load of people waiting for their food who already ordered. I mean what the hell. I felt sorry for the 20 to 30 other people behind me in line. Anyway... I finally got to order and then I requested gf buns, which it says "gf at your request" and then they tell me they have none. ON DAY FOUR. I just left. The atmosphere is acceptable (big tables for groups), the service to order is quick(it's basically fast food), but the food is just inedible. And incredibly high prices for glorified fast food that you can't even eat is really unacceptable. My first visit/ I had the fried chicken which I actually enjoyed/ the Mac n cheese was decent/brussel sprouts were burnt- but just a month later most of the menu is totally different. And not for the better.... This visit our family had chicken strips (barely palatable- dry and no flavor) and I had the "BLT" which was some thin bacon (like the kind they serve at a comfort inn breakfast buffet), tomato and lettuce in a soft, soggy hamburger bun. I took one bite and didn't eat anything. Who could have even approved this for a menu? Good god. No way will this place make it. There are so many better options at lower prices and high quality food. I hope the next restaurant in this space hits the mark! I don't see this place lasting another 6 months. read more
