I rarely ever post reviews, but I felt compelled to for this establishment. I came in here just expecting to just get something to go, but the food on the menu looked really good I thought I would sit down and enjoy the experience and not rush it. I ordered at least 5 items, three for here and two for when I get home haha. Classic Robin, one in a million milkshakes vanilla, and of course the truffle fries lol. To go I had the bucket of crispy chicken and onion rings, I love a good onion ring! The service was great and the food hit the spot. My mom and I have been excited for this new (relatively affordable looking) place to open in the Barlow and unfortunately it was not a good experience from start to finish. We got there just before 6 on a Saturday night and were immediately met with a line all the way to the front door, and we had to squeeze inside. Long line! Must have been busy? Nope. Practically empty, maybe 6 seated parties between inside and outside. Ambiance really didn't do it for me- huge warehouse like space with fluorescent lighting and the only seating inside are large wooden picnic tables. The retro theme is not carried through the decor or merchandising. The only hint of a vintage brand is the posters and logo. Now, I grew up going to Ruby's diner as a kid and loved those comfortable pleather booth seats (Like D's Diner down the road has) and kitschy decor. Where's the fun? It's a cold, sterile environment and to make things worse the music station was playing sad, slow, sleepy songs like "Mr. Lonely". I mean, I want to go out and have a good time. Ok back to ordering- we got in line and it moved slowly but was moving. When we got to the register we were not greeted or smiled at. No "Welcome in!" Or "What can I get started for you?". The staff seemed tense tbh. We ordered a Robin Classic burger ($9.95), Chicken Tenders ($11.99) and a side of fries ($4.50) to-go. The burger comes with American cheese, but my mom doesn't like American and she saw that some other items on the menu have Cheddar, so she asked if it could be substituted. She was met with a flat and cold "No". Talk about customer service! That should be a simple substitution for a burger joint. I asked if they had any non-dairy options for their shakes and was again met with a flat "No"-this feels like a real missed opportunity in an area with so many vegans. A similar place in Berkeley called Smokehouse added Oatly non-dairy shakes to their menu and their demand skyrocketed. Anyway, we paid, got our buzzer, sat on one of the hard benches and waited for about 15 min for our to-go order as sad song after sad song played. Order's up! They called our name over a loudspeaker before the buzzer went off. I was eager, and excited to sneak a bite before we left, but the to-go boxes were impossible to open. It felt like they were NOT thought through- like sweater gift boxes where the lid slides snugly onto the base, no tabs or easy way to open, even for someone with able hands. No branding on them- maybe they are testing them? My mom tried to hold the base as I tried to lift the top off, but we couldn't get it. I ended up ripping into the lid to open it. I can't imagine what it would be like for someone with arthritis or someone who can only use one hand. Totally not accessible! Plus, sealed containers make fresh fries soggy. What's wrong with the classic paper wrapping and brown bag? Or cardboard containers with a tab lid? No need to reinvent the wheel guys! It feels like they can't decide whether they are trying to be casual or fancy and its missing both marks. Ok, but what's the verdict? How's the food?? I will start with the good: The fries were nice and crispy and well salted, and came with a tasty spicy pistachio romesco sauce (though i'd have been plenty happy with just ketchup and a lower $, and the serving was not large for the price). The not-so-good: The burger according to my mom was "tasteless, overcooked, dry, sloppily put together" and the pickles were "way too sweet for the burger" and she was disappointed she couldn't sub the cheese. Fair! It looked burnt on the side. My chicken tenders were disappointing as well, like factory-made dino nuggets- the meat inside didnt seem like whole pieces of chicken, parts seemed ground up, and the serving was small. I was expecting whole breast fried chicken tenders for that price. The breading lacked texture and flavor and the chicken was dry. I'd rather go to Chick-fil-A for amazing tenders for half the price. I thought chicken was supposed to be Cock Robin's thing? What gives? I know they just opened and probably have some kinks to work out, but this felt way bigger than kinks. The warnings from friend that it wasn't good should have been a enough but we decided to give them a try and it was way over priced for average food and less than generous portions. The server didn't seem to want to serve us but they have no problem pandering for tips. You shouldn't have to ask more than once for water we finally got some literally at the end of the meal. I ordered the wine, country burger, which included Wagyu beef, fontina cheese, truffled, mushrooms, and spinach. I received a burger with the smallest patty I've ever seen, smaller even than the patty in a regular McDonald's hamburger. Did not taste the cheese nor the mushrooms the only thing that I tasted with the baby spinach. Cost of this was $18. My wife ordered a portobello sandwich. She received a burger with mushrooms. We shared some onion rings. They were clearly previously frozen and undercooked. The onions inside the onion rings were still cold. Complete disappointment! When you spend $85 for 3 people for "fast food", it should be fully cooked and worth eating. Food was not hot, definitely not fresh to order. After waiting 25 minutes for our food onions rings were cold and greasy, bacon on both chicken sandwiches orders was under cook, close to still being raw. Hamburger was cold to the touch, cheese was melted because it was never hot enough. Definitely wouldn't recommend spending your hard earned money here. read more

I had another review, and it's gone, so here's another. Second trip to Cock Robin. Ordered the Cobb Salad and got a beef hamburger instead. When we brought it to the attention of the kitchen, the manager came over and slapped down the receipt and said "here's what you ordered!". I was surprised by his aggression. Then, he said to go over to the register so that we would pay the difference, which was $6 more. You'd think with THEIR error, that he'd say sorry for the inconvenience and call it a wash, but nope. I went to Cock Robin today and it was one of the best experiences I've had in a restaurant. I'm definitely going to be a regular! My new favorite place hands down. I'll start with the atmosphere, look and feel of the restaurant, which was sheer perfection. The design is impeccable, warm and welcoming, and they play the best music! The restaurant is also perfectly clean and maintained. Next, the staff was attentive, helpful and positive - they added to the overall ambiance of joy and happiness. And I'll save the best for last which was the food! We ordered a lot (the cheeseburger, chicken sandwich, chicken tenders, bucket of chicken, Cobb salad, Caesar, Mac and cheese, and onion rings). It was mind blowing- high quality ingredients, delicious flavors and perfect portions. The food felt high end, clean and healthy, while also ridiculously delicious. The outside seating area, decked out with Adirondack chairs and fire pits, is the perfect spot to hang with friends, have a glass of wine and let your kiddos run around. My family ate at Cock Robin in late December. The place was full but not so packed that you couldn't find a table. We ordered at the counter and the staff were friendly and professional. We ordered 2 Bacon Cheeseburgers, a Crispy Chicken Sandwich, fries, and three milkshakes. The Cheeseburgers were thick and delicious and the fries were perfect. The milkshakes were tasty. The chicken sandwich was disappointing, the meat was thin and lacked flavor. We live in Sebastopol so we will be back for sure, the atmosphere is wonderful with outdoor fire pits. We will just skip the chicken sandwich next time and focus on the burgers and shakes. read more

Came here after my daughters soccer game over the weekend the place is nice and fresh high ceilings, TVs football game was on and they also have games you can play while waiting or eating. We ordered our food everything was average for me I got the sweet potato fries and single cheeseburgerburger. We also got the chicken tenders and onion rings. Daughter didn't eat the tenders due to them being really salty and another adult that was next to us overheard and said the same thing. The onion rings were okay but I felt like they were missing a little flavor or seasoning but the crispiness was good just felt like they were missing something. Another thing at register when ordering we asked if they could cut one of the burgers in half so my wife and son could share but she replied they couldn't do that because of how busy they were they could give us a knife and we could do it ourselves. Came here with my BF last week. Not super busy. I we both had the crispy chicken sandwich. The food was good but I was super disappointed that you can't switch out the type of cheese- it came with pepper jack and I wanted cheddar or American- whatever was on their burgers, as I can't have the peppers in pepper jack. They told my BF that it has to be made exactly as on the menu. They wouldn't even sub the cheese for an extra fee. Seems kind of silly not to swap out the type of cheese that they have right there. The Restraunt is modern and open with lots of seating and fire pits. I Had a fantastic burger last time I sat down for lunch. House sauce, shredded iceberg lettuce, thin sliced onions. The patty was cooked perfectly and incredibly flavorful. They really nailed a simple juicy burger. They recently switched their homemade bread and butter pickles for regular pickles and I was heartbroken. They said customers were not appreciating the bread and butter style. I thought they were amazing. I hope they keep them around. Also tried their "square" ice cream cone. Which is a cool novelty to have tried. The ice cream served is double rainbow brand and it's really high quality and flavorful. They offer vanilla, strawberry and chocolate for their scoops and shakes. If you have been to the Barlow you know parking isn't an issue. Cock Robin is very conveniently located right on the corner. Nice clean open space will be a great spot with warmer weather. Nice menu choices. The only downside, the food is not seasoned. I had the chicken sandwich. It was just ok. With some seasoning, it would be really good! The onion rings were crispy and did taste very good. I ordered a malted shake, I couldn't really taste the difference from a regular shake. Not enough malted flavor to make any taste difference. I drive by it regularly so I gave it a try. The chicken sandwich was okay but forgettable, and way too expensive for what you get at $14+, no side included. No wonder the place is always empty. It was a pounded flat thin sheet of fried chicken meat (presumably), obviously processed to the hilt. It stuck out of the bun an inch all the way around. How about fitting it to the bun size and halving the price? There are some real chicken sandwiches in the area that actually use a proper piece of fried chicken, for the same price, twice or more the thickness and yet conveniently maintained within the bun, a lot better tasting, and for the same price. I might have tried the fried chicken instead but there was no option for a single piece or even a few pieces--only a bucket and the tenders. Strange. Really nice outdoor environment with fire pits! But I have yet to see anyone outside even on sunny days in the 60's, and never more than handful inside. What a strange waste of time and money. Why in the world would someone open a lame fast food place like this at the Barlow. The rent for this location has got to be really high. Whatever. Once was enough for me. I drove by this place multiple times on the way to Bodega Bay for another fishing trip. I could never stop, because I always tow a boat and it's hard to park. The place is beautifully appointed, clean, modern, kind of cool. I'm ready to order my fried chicken, I look at the menu...........No fried chicken!!! Well, that's not good! I was really looking forward to some bone licking. Oh well, I'll go for the second best, I guess. Chicken tenders and fries accompanied by nice Hazy IPA from Parliament Brewery. Order came out quickly. Tenders were nicely seasoned, fresh and tasty. Fries were also fresh , hot and seasoned with some salt. Hazy was absolutely delicious. Tenders came with BBQ sauce, but there are other sauces available. I liked the homemade ranch with dill. I really enjoyed every part of my meal and do not understand why so many bad reviews. Someone claimed, the chicken tenders were worse than McDonald's!! Really??? They are clearly made of lean chicken breast vs McDonald's chicken goop. The food is solid and a good price point, ambiance a bit sterile but probably would've given them another star if they did a little more for the environment. I REALLY wanted to like this place! Not only did it take a ridiculous amount of time to get our food, only to discover it was inedible. We ordered the bucket of chicken, the classic burger, fries, Mac and cheese, and crispy Brussels sprouts. The food arrived cold This is the first time in my life that I have had to leave the food at the table. The chicken was floating in old, overused oil, was burnt, and tasted like someone's first science experiment. The batter was soggy (albeit burnt) and dripping with oil when you picked a piece up. Brussels were badly burned, as in completely charred and also covered with horrible tasting oil. The Mac and cheese was so overcooked that it literally disintegrated off the for before you could get it in your mouth. The burger might as well have been a day old Mc Donald's burger, except with a ridiculous price tag. The fries also had the bad oil taste. My family really enjoyed this new restaurant! I would describe it as an upscale fast food-like restaurant, similar to Amy's but with quality meat. We all enjoyed the food and good sized portions. The ingredients were choice: baby kale, marcona almonds, real honey (!) and Mary's organic chicken. There was something for everyone: a salad for me, fried chicken bucket for my husband and daughter (plenty for 2), and grilled cheese for our vegetarian. I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews for this place. Maybe they had a hard first week. I'm really glad to have this restaurant walking distance from my house where my family can go together (we have enough $$$$ fancy places and bars already.) A note on the restaurant's sustainability: I thought it was great that the restaurant used mostly re-usable plates/silverware with some compostable items like cups and napkins. This burger needs help. At 15 bucks tip not included to the pleasant wait staff who got 20 percent. Middle of the road Burger that is way overpriced. Likely due to exorbitant rents in the Barlow. The lettuce on the burger tasted like old lettuce after the fact. This place will not thrive here in Sebastopol. No parking to boot. read more

We were surprised at how overcooked our fries were and my husband's burger patty was practically burnt. I think they need to double check what is coming out of the kitchen until they get in a groove.
