This place is beautiful! It has an amazing atmosphere. It's so relaxing and cozy. I came because of the seating. I didn't even realize it was attached to a hotel. The baristas were very friendly and patient and the service was fast. We sat in a little living room at first, them moved to a table, and finally took advantage of the stair seats. The coffee was pretty good, nothing extraordinary, but it did the job. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and delicious. We never made it back, but I'm glad I got to pop in for a bit. the coffee/tea was just alright in my opinion - my friend enjoyed the iced chai that she got but the butterfly matcha wasn't the greatest drink i've ever had. it was a tad bit too sweet and the matcha powder wasn't the best quality. the space itself though is super nice - good variety of seating and it's located inside the marriott hotel in the city center so definitely good spot if you're on a work trip. i'd go back to try the coffee but not a huge fan of the matcha. read more

I was on vacation in Charlotte and in need of a latte, and am so glad I came across Coco and the Director! The shop is attached to a hotel, but you'd never know it from the decor and the vibe. This is no boring corporate coffee shop! The employees were very friendly and helpful, and the space is big and bright and has plenty of seating across two levels. There are tables of various sizes, as well as a large stadium seating area with comfy pillows. There were several interesting drink flavors on the specials board, and it was hard to pick just one! It was also hard to pick a pastry, as everything in the bakery case looked delicious. I decided on the Love on Top Cold Brew and a Pistachio Cronut. Both were delicious! The cold brew was smooth and flavorful with a creamy cold foam and fun heart candies on top. The Cronut was flaky and fresh with a yummy pistachio cream. I wish I'd had time to make a return visit or two before I headed home. The next time I'm in town I'll definitely be back for another latte and cronut! read more

This is a quaint little coffee shop in the heart of uptown Charlotte. Very convenient if you're working at or close to one of the banking centers. Staff could've been a little friendlier, especially when it's not as busy... But at the same time, I can't blame them for being more robotic than other coffee shops as the business gentleman in front of me was complaining about a plethora of things, and he hadn't even gotten his items yet. I am sure they deal with a good chunk of banking business people who think they are better than everyone and expect absolutely no flaws. Chai Latte was delicious and did the job! Wow, what cool space! Such a great spot to work or meet a friend for a drink. They even had a table with TVs in the back perhaps to watch a game. I found this place on Yelp! I always order an iced Americano with a pump of chocolate. My drink was delicious. I will always try a cronut where I can find one and they had a key lime pie cronut. I noticed they make food to order and there was a grill in the cook was preparing pancakes. I also purchased a bag of North Carolina potato chips and popcorn that looked interesting. They have a refrigerator section with cold drinks and yogurt and fruit for sale too. I did not go to the bathroom, but I believe this is at the bottom of the Marriott. So maybe the bathrooms are in the hotel. But I love the pillows with types of seats. I would definitely recommend this cool vibe coffee shop. read more

I will say that this spot is more ideal for patrons that are already downtown. If you are not, you will have to find parking on the street( which will likely have a cost!). When we walked in there were ample staff at the counter. I ordered an unsweetened matcha latte with oat milk. I love the fact that they offer both a pre- sweetened and a non sweetened option! Came here for a couple of casual work meetings and the space was nice. There are two entrances (one on Tryon and one in the hotel). TL;DR: lots of seating and places to work / chat are available From the main entrance on Tryon, you'll enter and see one large group table (can fit about 8-10 people), 4 2-person tables to the left, and a large set of steps that you can sit on and lead to more tables upstairs. From the hotel entrance, there is a ton more seating from large group tables to the smaller tables (I didn't notice this entire extra area the first time I came here). TL;DR: morning hours have pastries and afternoon hours have remaining pastries and a sandwich I ordered their dirty chai (hot the first time and iced the second time) and a blueberry muffin, both being delicious. read more

Has an area for people to work while eating, has relaxation stations with couches, and has a cool lounge area where the cutest dog was sitting when we arrived. The Cronut was what it should be. So many layers, could taste the buttery croissant despite the sugar glaze. The blueberry cheesecake filling was the perfect amount and loaded with real blueberries. The orange muffin tastes exactly like fruit loops and was incredibly moist and delicious. The bacon, breakfast sandwich was good but know that the egg is more like a hard boiled egg that has been smashed. Will definitely return the next to me I'm in Charlotte. read more

I was checking out the new food hall uptown and stopped in after for a warm drink. It was a Saturday late afternoon and they were super busy inside. Tables were all taken/reserved so I ordered my drink and then sat outside in the lobby area closer to Stoke. I ordered the Apple Chaider which was an Apple flavored chai and a lemon blueberry muffin. The chaider was like drinking a warm apple pie. I will mention here that after receiving my drink I had to take it back because it wasn't hot. I told the barista that it wasn't warm and he took the top off, poured it back in the pot and re-steamed it. Probably not the most hygienic practice. He handed it back, I walked back to my table and it was just warm at best but definitely not hot. I still enjoyed it though and the muffin was great. If you're a lemon fan there is a lemon curd filling inside of the muffin that was surprising at first but super enjoyable. Overall, this a super cute coffee shop in a great location. I go here often as I used to only work from home and this would be my hangout spot. The location is great and there's a lot of seating so even if it's busy you'll typically be able to find somewhere to sit. There are outlets everywhere so you never have to worry about that. The staff is also really nice and helpful with the menu if you have questions. They do change their food menu weekly I believe? I make it a point to eat before I go here because I'm never sure if I'll like the food or the day but I've tried a few things that I enjoyed, specifically this big a** chicken sandwich I took a picture of lol. I took this on ig and soooo many people asked where I got it from but I couldn't promise they'd ever have it again to recommend great coffee selection as well! They also have a fridge full of basic stuff like water and sodas and sell a few miscellaneous things so it's more than just a simple coffee shop. read more

When I think of elevated coffee spaces, I have to give Kudos to Coco and the Director for making it happen. This place was massive with multiple spaces to work and enjoy your food/coffee. They also had layers and options. There were couches tucked away downstairs, and pillows going up the stairs. They also had traditional tables and chairs. Multiple outlets for electronics were available as well. I was genuinely impressed. The staff was very cool and down to earth, not fake over the top chipper. My coffee didn't come out great but it was no fault of the coffee shop. I tried something new and juts happened not to like it so unfortunately I can't give a good opinion about it at this time. Too cool for corporate consumption! Not sure how this cool place passed the mustard test for a hotel chain, but this place is a phenomenal coffee shop all in itself . Kudos to Marriott Hotel city Center. I used my friend Yelp to find this spot located in the Marriott hotel off of North Tyron street. Ordered a caramel latte with oat milk hold the sweetness and it was made to perfection. The music was that of a cool New York lounge with subtle house music being played. Overall, this place is cooler than most coffee shops that tried to be cool. I'd highly recommend you pulling up a chair, breaking out your laptop and getting to work! This is one of my favorite coffee shops in uptown. It's a really big space and has multiple places inside where you can have your coffee and work. I initially was going just order a latte but after seeing all the bakery items I couldn't leave without trying one. I ordered the caramel muffin and the bunny latte w/ oatmilk. The latte was verrryyyy good. No adjustments or add ins needed. I believe it was a seasonal drink with combination or caramel and vanilla flavors. I would definitely order this again. Unfortunately they gave me the wrong muffin and I didn't realize until I got home (in another state) when I was ready to eat it. They gave me cranberry orange which is not my preference.
