I visited Coco with my siblings this week. After enjoying drinks at the bar, we were seated. We were the last to be served, so that might have had an impact on quality. My siblings ordered muscles with frites. The muscles were slightly under-cooked. The frites are simply outstanding. I ordered the paella- I've ordered it before and forgot. It's not to my liking- it's a very dry paella plate of veggies on rice- I wish there was more moisture and more flavor. The escargot is to die for here. The sweet sauce is indescribable. It is a must order! Our bartender and waitress were delightful, as is the atmosphere. If you haven't been, Coco is definitely a must visit in Buffalo. read more

So last night was our first time back since pre-covid and were so excited. Keyword "were." My husband got their vegan dish but said it was not nearly as good as the last time. But he way I'll liked it. I ordered a special, a crab sandwich. I should've taken seeing the rat run from the direction of the kitchen (we were on the patio) as a sign. Later on I spent over an hour in the bathroom in pain, sweating profusely, and either sitting or kneeling. I couldn't keep down anything all day. Definitely was food poisoning without a doubt. Fine dining / French cuisine in Downtown Buffalo. This place sure is swanky! We were able to secure a 4-top on a Friday night , it was quite the experience from beginning to end (in a good way) . First of all , our server was super charismatic and attentive with our dining experience . Once I saw a server bring out the short rib special to another table, I knew I had to have it! I ordered a couple glasses of Sangria , which was fruity but not too sweet. Our party also started with some Rosemary Frites to share . The lemon aioli paired well with the crisp fries. The short rib was so tender and flavorful , and the sauce was rich with tons of flavor . It reminded me of an upscale version of my Guinness beef stew . Everyone in our party enjoyed their selections as well , a couple of us even brought some dessert home . We never once felt rushed during our meal , even though it was a full dining room . My wife was really excited to go here after the pandemic. She's been eyeing it for that long. It was disappointing from the first minutes. We waited too long to get noticed, ignored by a server who walked by.... how difficult is it to say hello? The larger Dining room had NO music.. I noticed the music was great at the bar side. Crickets in the Dinning room. Just weird. The fried bree to start was great, not nearly enough crustinis to put it on, but it was our only excellent thing. The server was lost in the clouds. Ignoring our needs, missing big cues, waiting too long for everything... from refills on drinks, waters, and the check took forever. My mushroom walnut bolonese had no flavor, and NO mushrooms. It was terrible. There seemed to be some great items on the menu but I don't think we can try here again after being incredibly underwhelmed the entire time. I realize why so many tables were open on a Saturday after that experience. The bread basket was sad too, day old Wegmans "baguette" with over flavored tiny dashes of butter is so easy to fix. This place needs some real help. We're a city of GREAT restaurants and this isn't one of those..... c'est la vie read more

What a wonderful place! The ambiance is lovely and feels very "French." The service is amazing (Breanna is a gem!) and the food is absolutely delicious. The crab cakes were the best we've ever had and the accompanying cole slaw was a perfect complement. The French Onion burger and the Moroccan tagine were simply perfect. Great selection of food and drinks, service, and atmosphere. The live music was a nice touch, too (but musicians need to learn to tone the volume down a bit - you need to have the music be in the background, not the forefront, of your dining experience). With rising restaurant prices abounding everywhere, we felt that the dishes were all good value and we appreciated that pricing was not astronomic as in some very trendy, "in" restaurants. We will definitely be back to enjoy this lovely Buffalo hidden treasure! read more

Just finished dinner here for the first time and our first dinner of 2022! Glad me and my fiance chose here for our first date of the year because the ambiance was cozy, our server was superb, and the food was spectacular. We both opted for water due to dry January but the drink menu looked great. The menu was fairly limited food wise but we found several options that looked appetizing. If the entrees weren't so pricey I would have loved to try one of the apps. They all sounded delicious. We went with the swordfish and salmon entrees and both were excellent choices. The portions were large and both had so much flavor. The orange hollandaise on the salmon was amazing and I want to try and mimic it at home. The swordfish was so plump and not fishy at all. It almost tasted like chicken because it was so well cooked and charbroiled. The saffron rice was a huge hit as well. I wish we had room for dessert. Would definitely come back. What a gem their outdoor garden patio is! It's one of those lovely little oases that transport you to a different place entirely. We went in the evening for dinner and absolutely loved the ambiance outside. The ambiance inside is lovely as well. The layout feels similar to Left Bank or Webster's, with the raised seating area and floor level seating. Everything is elegant and comfortable. There's also a lovely bar area. Parking was pretty easy when we went but I could imagine at more peak times it being tricky. Certainly not as bad as downtown though. So it's a nice option if you want that feel without having to deal with the hassle of downtown parking. All of the food was delicious, as was the coffee. (It was a little cool out, so I had several cups!) On the whole, I would highly recommend trying this place out. Coco would be great for a date night or just a comfortable friends get together. You can dress more casual or dress up. Add it to your list! read more

Went on a double date last night; it was also the annual fundraiser for HIV/AIDS. The organizer told us that Coco donates 50% of all revenue to the cause - kudos to the owners! The food was outstanding - we started with rosemary fries, delicious. I had the Brussels sprouts Caesar salad. I love both, and this salad is a winner. For the entree two of us had the mushroom pasta - such a rich, deep flavor. I had the boeuf bourguignon - this blew me away. I savored every bite; such an amazing mix of flavors. Oh, and my Manhattan was perfect; served in a chilled up glass as is proper. Highly recommend, we'll be back! read more

The main entrance leads you into the bar area - you automatically get a taste of the entire restaurant's chic and romantic ambiance. Like the bar area, the dining room is dark and candlelit. Apparently there are live bands at on weekends but they were not playing when I was there. My group of 5 had a reservation for Saturday night and we were seated right away by the cordial hostess. We ordered the Beets & Goat Cheese Pierogies for the table to share as an appetizer (they were on the Specials menu). They were much more cooked than what I am used to. They were almost too cooked, to the point where they almost tasted burnt? This is my only complaint of the night. I ordered the Mussels in the Provencal flavor and they were very delicious! Nice, large portion cooked to perfection. Like most places, the mussels were served with fries. The rest of my party was also very happy with their respective entrees. Horrible. We made reservations before a sheas show for 10 people. When we got there we were informed the accidentally double booked the table and they could no longer accommodate us. No one there even apologized or made any attempt to make up for their mistake. I have never had such horrible customer service at a restaurant. read more

We came for dinner on 4/4/19 and again we really enjoyed the food. I ordered the French onion burger, and it was out of this world. If you love onions then this burger is a must try. My wife ordered the salmon salad, and this has to be the best salad we have ever had. The amount of vinaigrette on the salad was just the right amount, and the salmon was delicious. Overall the food, atmosphere and services was excellent. Les Boucheese isn't your typical "cheese and breads broad" - there a few pieces of pita bread, some meat the rest is combination of fruits, chopped olives, and something call spaghetti bites. Ordered the duck special it's definitely off the bone as the server stated but it's a little over cooked for my taste--a few bite was dry and hard. The Italian pizza was very good... and they was kind enough to do a 1/2 request for us. We got a reservation but I think you will be ok without reservation on a Sunday night. They do have enough space to accommodate a large party. read more

Awesome experience here tonight. The ambiance is fantastic and romantic with food equally as good. For dinner, we ordered the mushroom/mascarpone pierogies for an appetizer. As a pierogi fan, these were excellent and something new and interesting with the mushrooms. My husband ordered the Thai curry mussels which were excellent in flavor and a huge portion (picture attached). I got the special of the night which was chicken al ferno - penne pasta, chicken & broccoli tossed in a parmesan sauce and topped with bread crumbs. The portions were very large and we definitely were stuffed by the time we left. Service was quick and friendly and by the time we left, the place was packed at the bar and in the dining room. There are not enough 5 star reviews on here! Everytime I've eaten here the food as been perfect. We've ordered a different appetizer each time, but I always return to the trout as my main course. Do not sleep on it. Last time I was there my boyfriend and I sat at the bar and when we finished our appetizer (the cajun shrimp ) the bartender asked if we wanted some bread to lap up the rest of the sauce with. Last night was the re-opening of Coco's. We were able to snag a fantastic table in the Bar Room by the window. We have been to Coco's a number of times and each and every time has been wonderful. It certainly helps when Curly is tending bar as it adds such a festive feel to the restaurant. It goes without saying the food is fantastic and the selection is perfect for this French themed restaurant. Last night we listened to the group " French ConeXion" who's, French theme music was truly wonderful. The music, the food, the great wine and a very attentive staff made this truly feel we were back in Paris. I love mussels, and the curry mussels are tender, tasty and more than adequate for a good appetite. Great spot for a little happy hour during the week with nice wine specials and pom frites. Always a parking spot to be had on Main Street downtown. If you're looking for some of the best salads in Buffalo, look no further. I mean, at $10 for the lunch portions...they better be fantastic, right? For the health conscious, Coco does not disappoint. They indeed excel when it comes to salads. Not that they don't have a burger on the menu, but unfortunately...every time I've had it, it just hasn't been spectacular. However, the french country salad which I just had again is still singing its praises in my tummy! It's $10, but surprisingly filling with a good amount of goat cheese, lentils, beets, greens, walnuts and a delicious sherry vinaigrette. It's a simple dance of healthy, nutritious, protein-rich vegetables, goat cheese and lentils. It's surprisingly filling for a man who enjoys 1000 calorie meals. Coco also wins me over with their ambiance. Upscale, chic and hipster-esque. They host a lot of fun events, often doing a burlesque-style drawing class for only $7. I've only been here for dinner during Restaurant Week, but I enjoyed their portions (their porkchop was huuuuge!) and thought it was a nice choice for a date night given its atmosphere and professional service. What really wins me over is their incredible french-inspired patio in the back. Full of flowers and small little rocks for its foundation, it's a beautiful place to kick back for lunch or dinner during a nice day. Patio season can't come soon enough after our Buffalo winter. Coco is a beautiful French restaurant with great food. The menu has appetizers, a daily chicken specialty, pasta, mussels, trout and sandwiches. They also have a great selection of red pizza and white pizza. My favorite meal is definitely the pea & prosciutto white pizza. It's phenomenal! I've also heard that the Thai Curry Mussels and Gorgonzola Trout are very good. Coco's French cheese plate with sliced green apples is delicious! They were out of cheese the last time I went and I was so sad about it. We ordered the charcuterie board instead, which was good, but nothing compares to the cheese plate. In addition to great dinners, Coco's desserts are some of the best in Buffalo! They are made right at the restaurant. My favorites are the Malva Pudding and the Salted Caramel Mousse. My mom ordered the Bleu Cheesecake last time and it was unbelievable. The purple dining room is decorated with French art and pretty lights. Honestly, it was nice to see a French restaurant outside of NYC and LA. They were doing a Lebanese cooking promotional which also was nice. Paid for two people, bill worked out to about 120 with a bottle of wine; I find that to be about average. The server was great, apparently a niece of the owner. I can't remember what I ordered a week later, though, and I remember at the time the food not being memorable even though Middle Eastern food is my hands down favorite cuisine, so I can't say the food was too memorable. read more

Even during a global pandemic, Coco provides excellent food and service. I placed my order over the phone and it was delivered to my house. They have an amazing restaurant week special menu going which I ordered off of but they are also offering their regular menu too. I ordered a family style Lamb Bolognese which will feed 4-6 people and comes with salad for the restaurant week price of $20.20. Amazing value and absolutely delicious! Visited 2 times now. They offer a good selection of cocktails,martinis and wines. This is a French restaurant and has a upscale ambiance. Very intimate and is more of a date night/anniversary type spot. The first time I came, there was an Accordion player playing music. The food has been great both times. Recently, we ordered fried brie as an appetizer, 1/2 of a roasted duck, Chicken Milanese, and a mousse dessert. The layout of the restaurant is very nice and unique. High ceilings and great decor. I recommend trying this restaurant. There are a good amount of Italian, pubs, american, Mexican and sushi types of restaurants around Buffalo but I haven't come across too many French restaurants. I think it offers some more diversity to the city. read more

I'm so glad I came here for restaurant week! The food was great and the service was even better. For appetizers we got pork rillettes and haddock fritters which were both very good. Our entrees were absolutely delicious. My bf loved the duck pizza (finished the whole thing) and I enjoyed my asian beef shank as well. The best part was the dessert - flower pots! It was really a perfect restaurant week meal. Now I need to rave about the service - we had the most helpful waitress. She was really patient with us and explained the menu to us. She made suggestions (like going for the flower pot for dessert) and they were all great. We asked for extra bread and she brought us freshly baked ones. I feel like she really put in extra effort into making our meal enjoyable. I will definitely come back to try out their regular menu!! read more

So thrilled to be back at Coco!!! I missed it!! Had dinner with my husband here yesterday... missed this place sooo much! It's my home away from home...Best Gluten free pizza in Buffalo-- and i am picky! I love the staff here. The hostess is so much fun, always gets me laughing and remembers my gluten free needs. All the staff are friendly and fun. It's stressful for everyone trying to figure out this social distance thing - we could tell they had reduced the number of tables and reservations were limited- but we felt safe and well taken care of. With my favorite French restaurant closed I want this to be my French place. I love the atmosphere! Inside and outside in the back courtyard! However, upon giving the steak frites a second chance I was l was left with the same conclusion. Salty arugula salad, salty battered fries I find at my local bar...the steak is decent, but not enough to redeem this dish. The pizza is good! The Beaujolais was good! I just can't order my french bistro favs here, which makes me sad. I'll be back to enjoy the ambiance with a pizza and bottle of wine. French cuisine? Not so much. read more

I've eaten here three times now. Everything has always been delicious. I would definitely recommend the salads. The Swedish meatballs were amazing as an appetizer, make sure you get a side of a baguette to enjoy the gravy. The only thing that I would Recommend is a variety of hot tea options. read more
