Coco Maya is a cocktail bar in the heart of little Italy right above the salt and straw. Busy as expected on a Friday night, with loud music and full tables. The drinks were delicious! You're bound to spend a lot of money on cocktails in downtown San Diego, so if you're going to, you might as well go here. The food was good. The portions were large, so at least the really high prices are somewhat worth it. However, the menu is somewhat limited, and it is a very expensive place, so be prepared! The burger was pretty good, very juicy. The patty was thick, it looks like a steak inside of a bun. It was extremely flavorful. Don't get me started with the side! The portion was huge! The loaded potatoes were cheesy, creamy, and filled with bacon. They were an excellent compliment to the juiciness of the burger. The nachos were incredibly loaded. Lots of beans, cheese, and other toppings. The only thing I would say is it needed more chips. The gnocchi was good, it had some interesting flavor combinations that not everyone might enjoy. There was definitely a hint of cinnamon in it, which was an interesting combination, but not for me. The crème brûlée was delicious. It's kind of hard to mess that up. Service was OK, it was a busy night so that is to be expected. They were very accommodating for our reservation quantity changing, so I appreciate that. Made a reservation for 8pm on a Saturday night, which granted, is a super busy time, but it took us legitimately 45 minutes to get seated because there was another party at the table before us who took their time leaving. During the 45 minutes, staff kept telling us to move to another spot of the restaurant to wait. We were asked to move four times, and it was super crowded and uncomfortable to try to squeeze into a space and have to move every time people walked by. Our server was so sweet though and I did enjoy my entree (the jerk chicken with brussel sprouts and mac and cheese) as well as my drink (espresso martini). Our table outside also had a nice view. These were the saving graces of our experience dining here. Otherwise, I don't know that I would recommend dining here on a weekend. read more

Came here for happy hour with a group of four. First off, the decor is super cute, and the music was on point. The ambiance is always important for a happy hour, and this place definitely nailed it--very trendy and inviting! I ordered the Paloma with cantaloupe and it was super refreshing! We ordered the shrimp nachos, chicken and waffles, flatbread, spare ribs, and some tacos. My favorite was the chicken and waffles and the nachos. The waffle was good texture and chicken was tender with extra crunch. Services was great as we didn't have to wait long for our food. The ambiance was very nice as we went there on a Saturday in Aug when the weather is nice and the rooftop was vibrant with good energy. I made a reservation for noon and we were seated right away and our server was quick with delivering our drinks and our food came out timely too. I started with the Mango Guava Spritz and it was really refreshing. I felt like I was in Costa Rica while sippin' and listening to the music. My husband had their breakfast sandwich, which was served with a small side of fruit and tostones. The sandwich was fulfilling and he really liked that there was a hashbrown patty inside the sandwich. I had the steak sandwich and the steak was very flavorful. I really liked the chimichuri too. I just wish I also was given a side of tostones. Prices are little on the high end, but remember to consider the area you're dining in. The restaurant was lively and the decor was super cute. Located in little Italy right next to salt and straw. Be mindful that they have farmers market in little Italy Saturdays. Street parking was hard to come by, so we had to park a few blocks down at an ace parking lot. Which costs us $40. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor, rooftop. We walked up stairs. Not sure if they have an elevator. Melody was our server. She was very friendly, helpful. We were there for brunch, so of course the menu is different from dinner. Some options I was able to try Chilaquiles- your choice to add meat, lobster, etc. I added skirt steak. Different options for sauces- we were able to do both red and green sauce. Huge portion. Lobster caviar eggs Benedict with potatoes- i wish they had more lobster as we shared this plate and pretty much got a tiny claw each(2 claws). Bacon avo eggs Benedict- the bacon was crumbled into tiny bits. I was able to ask for hot sauce. They have Tabasco and a habanero sauce that was yummy. There was also a French toast toast my friend got that came with nuts. Soo yummy fresh. While I have no reviews on the food, the drinks are a MUST. If you've been to Miss Coco B's then you already know. They never miss. I had the frozen coconut margarita and it was absolutely delicious and strong to my friends but I found it extremely refreshing.
