Loved the passion fruit flavor frozen yogurt! It's my new favorite, other than original tart. And bonus points for all of the samples the nice employee gave us, and for also telling us that they'd messed up when making the chocolate mint and so it didn't taste right. We both also really liked the homemade mochi bits and fresh fruit offerings too (a big improvement from when they first opened.) Minus one star since they require a $0.40 surcharge if you'd like to pay via credit card and the bill is under $10. read more

I was really upset when my bf told me about what happened to him at this place. He went there with his best friend who made him a very "small" cup and paid for it. My bf tried it and noticed he got him the wrong flavor so he asked the lady at the front if he can grab the right flavor and she said no.. right away. I can understand if it was a large cup that cost him $5 bucks but it was yogurt with no toppings and it came out to $1.00.. no joke! My bf was in his suit and tie so he is not a kid trying to nickle and dime the store but he thought they would at least accommodate the client or give it to him for .50 or SOMETHING. Instead the manager said too bad you have to pay. I was a regular and when i say regular I mean weekly. Since that, I decided to stop going to this place. Now they lost two customers for a dollar. It's 80 degrees outside and all I want is nice cold cup of froyo... It's the typical self serve style with plenty of flavors to choose from. Even with all the flavors, I stick with my usual and get the plain tart flavor. I go over to top off my froyo with fruits and to my delight, they also have MOCHI! I walked over to the counter expecting to pay about $5 and to my delight again it was only $3. Coco Swirl, you definately impressed me. You had plenty of flavors and fresh toppings to choose from. Ahh Coco Swirl, you are no Pinkberry or Red Mango. Not even a Yogurtland or a Cherry on Top. I just moved up from SoCal - land of froyo - and had a hankering for Pinkberry. The closest thing I could find was Coco Swirl. I tried the mango, tart and strawberry. The tart flavors seemed kind of icy and not very creamy, but the strawberry was excellent. I was bummed that they did not have the green tea flavor the day I stopped by because I know they have it. Their toppings bar was sufficient, but not nearly as extensive as Cherry on Top. Just your standard cereals, nuts, candies and fruits. I'll be back though for the strawberry with almonds, granola and mini chocolate chips on top! MMMM! read more

The good... -Good selection of flavors -thought the banana flavor was unique -self serve is always a plus -good selection of toppings and a plus that they had homemade Mochi in different colors The not so good... -Their fro yo isn't creamy smooth but rather on the icy side. This I wouldn't mind so much if it hadn't been a freezing cold night. But I still prefer smooth and creamy fro yo. -Price per ounce was still higher than most places -they didn't have the green tea or mango flavor I was craving -only had sweet flavors available at the time -there is a service charge to use your card if it's under $10 bucks Overall, not bad for my first time here but definitely no red mango or pink berry here. Wow. This place must make TONS of money. It's got a great location and not much competition except for Coldstone. Coco Swirl is self serve - I think they have 6 different flavors at a time - some tart and some sweet. I tried the original tart and strawberry kiwi tart and the bf had the espresso and the original tart. Both our cups came out to around $5 total and I was stuffed when I finished mine. Some people were filling their cups up like there was no tomorrow! The original tart could be more tart and the texture was not as creamy as I like it. The strawberry kiwi had a pretty good flavor to it though. I thought the espresso tasted like chocolate - so I'd skip it if you were expecting a strong espresso-y flavor. The toppings station was fully loaded when I got there around 7pm which is a definate plus - I think I must have scooped out half of their fruity pebbles! They've GOT to do something about their mochi though - they were not good and they were TINY - almost like it was cut into pieces. I think if you have a crazy craving for froyo and you're in the area - check it out. If not, you're not missing much. read more

I've been craving FroYo - pinkberry style - for the past two weeks. Obsessing over it, in fact. So, I decided to check this place out on my way home from the boring cube. I needed to liven up my day. It's all help yourself style with not much rhyme or reason to the flow of people through the process. I found lots of back and forth and clusters of people, which made accessing the stuff a bit awkward. They DO have the "tart" flavors. I got natural and mango. None of the other flavors looked good to me - mint chocolate, pina colada, etc. And I didn't see any way to taste the yogurt before buying, so I just went with what sounded good. Mango was NOT tart. Not sure why they called it that. It was way too sweet to be "tart" and a bit too much food coloring for my liking - bright orange. The natural is OK, but seemed a bit stiff and icy to me. I prefer the creamy/soft kind. I couldn't even get my yogurt to do a pretty little peak at the top. It just sort of heavily flopped over in my cup. I'm really not a fan of the "help yourself" format. I like my yogurt to look pretty. I haven't mastered the art of soft serve, so I left with an ugly yogurt. That, plus, I don't like the idea of little hands all up in the toppings section. Spoons falling into the cartons and grubby little hands picking them back up, etc... No thanks. At the end of the process, I was disappointed at the price. I was surprised that my small-ish/medium sized FroYo ended up being a whopping $4. Bottom line: Will I go back? Erm... Maybe. If I'm having another strong craving. But I'll definitely only get the natural and I'll watch the portion next time to save some cash. read more

I am ashamed to say that I probably eat more frozen yogurt than what's healthy for me. I just tell myself, "Hey, at least I'm not eating ice cream more than once a week!" (And no, I will not reveal how many times I eat here each week.) Since their opening, they've definitely expanded their topping selection and frozen yogurt flavors. My ultimate favorite is still the tart mango, but the tart lemon curd comes in close second. However, I've only seen this flavor once since I've tried it. I wish they'd bring it out more often because it's the perfect combination of tart lemon with a hint of sweetness. It's not as sweet as the other flavors, but tastes delicious and fresh with fruit toppings. Starting next month, though, I think they'll be charging a small fee if you use your card because of costs. That sucks, but makes sense since it's expensive to run cards. It's okay though, I'll just make sure to bring cash from now on. read more

Such a huge fan! Everytime I go North I must stop at Coco Swirl and Sinfully Bliss Cupcakes (Yum!) This is probably thee best yogurt I've tasted in years. The only qualm that I have is that they do not carry a small size for kids - the bigger the cup, the more you will buy... I'm assuming. I have to say i am a Die Hard Red Mango fan, but coco swirl is great as well. The mochi is really good and really fresh as it is made locally everyday day. Also, I like that they have several different tart flavors. I love the mango tart. Most other places just have plain mango, which can be too sweet sometimes! Self-serve froyo options are plentiful these days, but Coco Swirl is definitely one of the best! Their yogurt has a nice fresh taste, good variety of flavors that vary with each visit, and a good selection of fun toppings. On a silly personal note, I absolutely love that I can sprinkle Fruity Pebbles on my froyo here. :) On my most recent visit, I had the Ghirardelli chocolate, angel food cake and thin mint cookie, topped with almonds, oreos, coconut and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Delicious! The thin mint yogurt was something really special. BF and I both chose the smaller cup size and filled them up about halfway with yogurt and goodies, and the total for both came in under $6 - that's a deal! We also got a kick out of seeing the photos of people setting records for yogurt weigh-ins - people get awfully creative and ridiculous! I personally call foul if your yogurt creation is dripping on the ground and melting all over the scale - good thing I'm not a judge then. :) They also offer indoor and outdoor seating, which is appreciated since the store itself is very echoey and it can get quite loud in there even with a small number of people. This place has, I assume, rotating flavors. I did like the lemon custard, but the original tart was too tart. There was a limited amount of toppings, so I stuck to my standard of mochi, blueberries, strawberries, and mangoes. I would go here again, but I prefer Nubi Yogurt in San Bruno. They have way more flavors of yogurt, it's $0.01/oz cheaper (if that makes any difference), and they have TONS of different toppings... Pinkberry's still #1 in my heart. The hottest craze right now is these yogurt shops. This is not the "fro-yo" of old. This is really yogurt. Healthy stuff, and then frozen. Most of these places have the "original" flavor which tastes like plain or vanilla yogurt. They are tart, so be prepared. Me, I'm hooked. I was never a huge fan of the old style frozen yogurt. But this stuff is good. Coco swirl was the first serve yourself I have been to, and I really like it. You can have the discipline to take a little or throw it all out the window and load it up. The prices seem about right, maybe a little higher than the other places. They have more flavors than some of the places I have been, but still I stick with the original. I frequent the pleasant hill area, even though I have moved to the other side of the tunnel. I know for sure I will be back to this place. Maybe even today! read more

My sister had been raving about CoCo Swirl, so one weekend when I came back from college, she had taken me here. This place is alright. Its certainly no Yogurt Land or Tartini's but it does the job. The place is nice and small. The Yogurt selection seems decent, but not a lot of variety. And the toppings? Well, its decent also but they don't offer an array like the other two I've been to in the south bay. I also think the place charges 40 cents an ounce? Well, the place is alright to me but nothing that has WOW'ed me. Overall, I give them a three out of five. Just comparing price and what they offer...it just does not match up to Yogurtland and Tartini's. But if your looking for a place in the East Bay to satisfy your FROYO craving, then CoCo Swirl is the place to go. read more

Coco swirl has the best frozen yogurt in town! First of all, they use real yogurt...not powdered mix. Second, they have very fresh and tasty flavors and topping choices. Third, the owner is very kind and very supportive of the schools in our town. Lastly, this is a true family business that I am happy to support! Yum! Tried it yesterday for the first time. Great selection of flavors. I decided on the cheesecake and ghiradelli chocolate. Both were very creamy and yes, "I can't believe it's fat free!" It was not too busy, but I could see it being annoying when packed with kids. lol However the people who worked there did come out to clean the machines and the toppings area after a swarm came though...good to see that they are keeping it neat. 40 cents charge on all credit card charges below $10. As a business owner I know that your merchant fees do not exceed 2.75% on my Visa or MC. Don't you already have the cost covered in your pricing? If so, then this is a 100% profit on every purchase. I would imagine that the most common transaction is at the $10 threshold or less. This is unacceptable and I am requesting you to remove the charge. I will not complete my review until you respond as a business owner who cares what the customers think. At this point the frozen yogurt spots across the country are all making pretty solid tasting frozen yogurt. These businesses will not survive with a mediocre product, so most places are looking for something besides the yogurt itself to set them apart from the competition. Coco Swirl's draw is the homemade mochi, and it's a nice touch, but unfortunately they are lacking so much with their selection of flavors and variety of toppings that I would not see a reason to return. The yogurt is superb, especially the cookies and cream, but as I stated before, superb yogurt is the standard, and it is new and inventive flavors coupled with a wide array of toppings that is needed to set a yogurt place apart. Coco Swirl is good for what they offer, but when I am seeking yogurt, I need a myriad of flavors (seasonal?) and toppings to choose from. They could benefit from doubling their number of both, unfortunately the space they are working with just would not allow such an expansion. Next time. read more

Had the much talked about Donut Ice Cream Sandwich. In theory, it should work. Donuts and Ice Cream isn't a common combo, but it makes sense. Sweet + Sweet is good times. However, when biting into it, the ice cream totally overpowered the donut. I quickly forgot that there was a donut at all, and it became kind of messy to eat. Still pretty decent though, and I'd recommend it if you decide to let loose a little. read more

Seriously I used to love this place but the team that represents the staff is less than desirable. The gentleman owner is kind but aside from him just forget it. A specific example is when I came in with 3 punch cards that had various stamps that when added = free yogurt. The women behind the counter would only accept 2 punch cards, as policy. This is not posted anywhere and she couldn't tell me when it was implemented. I can't make sense of this policy. When you have competitors on every corner with many more flavors, and you are priced higher, wouldn't you make up for that with customer service? Never coming back again! read more

I really only think that it didn't recieve it's "A-OK" three stars was because the ceilings on this building are very high and allows more ECHO to travel inside. So having a LARGE group of about 12 NOISEY kids and two parents who don't enforce the "please use your inside voice" rule kinda spoiled my experience. I really shouldn't use this an excuse to dock a star, but really, you YELP because not only does the quality matter, but also the experience it comes in. For the most part, everything is pretty decorative than the place I normally go to which is the Yogurt Station... I mean from the walls to the cups to the seating... it's all colorful... and it is self serve and do offer more flavors... Overall the yogurt was normal tasting... I had vanilla (to be safe) and tried green tea... I wasn't too much of a fan of green tea yogurt, I think I'll stick to green tea ice cream. The cashier girl was nice, she greeted and also agreed that the noise was unbearable. I mean it was super loud that I couldn't hear how much my yogurt cost I had to look at the scale because she kept telling me and I really couldn't hear. Huge pet peeve of mine while there besides the noise? THE TOPPINGS WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE.... if I wanted rainbow sprinkles and fruity pebbles in my ice cream I'd put it in, but all the toppings were all mixed up that I had to be really particular in scooping my chocolate sprinkles to make sure I didn't get extra stuff that I didn't want. Plus what about those with peanut allergies? Yes, they do have a sign warning customers, however, what about those kids who want gummy bears in the ice cream but can't take that risk because other people are careless enough to drop their nuts or etc into other toppings? Or mgmt should consider seperating toppings with nuts to accomodate those with allergies. Anyways, I'll stick to the yogurt station, closer, not as loud and more organized with their toppings. Since I live in West County I don't get the opportunities that you East County people do, so I have only been to Coco Swirl twice now. It is a combined venture with Sweet Tomatoes as we don't have one of them either. Anyway, I totally dig Coco Swirl! The many different flavors and toppings put my mind into over-load making me feel like a kid in a candy shop. My most favorite flavor so far is Pumpkin. Also, I have been super annoyed by the amount of high school kids hanging out there, and the employees who are more concerned about which boys are hanging out there than keeping the place clean. read more

This place has terrible customer service! I work in customer service and you should never tell the customer they are wrong and it's there fault their order was wrong. Go elsewhere. This place is run by total cheapskates. They have no customer bathroom! What kind of store with a target demographic of kids doesn't have a bathroom! This place isn't my favorite frozen yogart spot. The toppings are always a mess, especially when you have a bunch of people spiling toppings every where. The tast isn't that great and it is pretty expensive. I found a place that has descent frozen yogart in Richmond in the Market place by Ranch 99. It is called JUST YOGART!! It is 38cents per ounce and the toppings are always fresh. I won't recommend this spot to anyone who is a Big Red Mango fan like I am. I have a high standard for frozen yogart. Sorry!! read more

With a self serve yogurt bar with toppings, the only person to blame if its bad is yourself!!! I am so upset that I didnt think about opening this spot up in this location first!!! People trickle in and out of here every minute! Coco swirl is always clean, stocked, and available with someone to hand you a tasting cup of their constantly changing flavors. Flavors are key...if you dont like the tart variety then they always have some sort of decadent chocolate, creamy, or fruity alternative. We routinely spend at least 10 minutes sampling a variety of flavors that compliment each other... and then another 10min adding toppings from mochi bits to fruity pebbles to a variety of diced fruits and nuts. We (2 ppl) may rack up a bill to at least $15 each time but hey, ITS LOW IN CALORIES!!! YEEAY COCO SWIRL!! read more

Self serve frozen yogurt shop in Crescent Plaza. 40 cents per ounce. They had about 5 or 6 different flavors. Their "original" flavor was delicious, but I really didn't' like the Vanilla. It had a yucky aftertaste. My friend said the Ghirardelli chocolate was really good. The fruit flavors were tasty, too. Toppings include fresh strawberries, mango, blueberries, lychee, chocolate chips, coconut shavings, etc. They also had mochi, but I don't know if they were just having a bad mochi day, but it looked brown, dry and clumpy and just extremely unappetizing. That kind of ruined my coco swirl experience. The texture of their froyo is quite nice and when I'm in the area, I certainly wouldn't mind stopping by. I like the convenience of being able to serve myself so I can have as little or as much as I want with as few or as many flavors and toppings as I want. Excellent concept. read more

So much fun! I like this place better than some others because they offer non tarty fro yo. It's self service. You pick small or large bowl. And get to work. I had red velvet, cheesecake, and chocolate ghirdelle fro yo. I added lots of fix-ins. I liked that they had little cheesecakes to add. Yummy! I would definitely recommend coming here. THIS is people's favorite frozen yogurt place? not based on my experience. I was next door at Mazza Grill and wanted something sweet to finish off on and went next door. They were absent and when they did emerge, it seemed more like doing us a favor than serving us. We wanted the Monday special, $1 cone and so one of them grabbed a couple cones and wanted to pour it himself. Look, if you are a self serve yogurt place and you advertise a special, then dont change the rules and want to serve it yourself. Of course, as we ate down, there wasnt a single bit in the cone itself, something only an employee would do. I have no problem paying for yogurt, but YOU advertised the special not me. The yogurt is ok, the pistachio didnt have enough flavor and the Tiramisu too much.. I settled for it, but eh, I wasnt pleased with any of them. Self Serve yogurt places are becoming a dime a dozen because the business model is genius.. so if what little customer service you do have, sucks, then dont blame the economy when your sales are down. read more

We stumbled upon this frozen yogurt establishment this past weekend while staying up at my sister-in-law's house and since I can't seem to say "no" to frozen yogurt we popped into give them a try. We ended up going both days we were in the area since we liked it so much. We sampled almost every flavor (the flavors had changed from Saturday to Sunday) and were surprised at how yummy all the fruit flavors were. Some of the fruit flavored yogurts we've tried in the past have seemed a bit fake but these were some of the best we've tasted. I think my favorite was the peach-mango but my husband liked the blackberry the best. Almost all the yogurt is non-fat too which is a bonus in my mind;) The owner was also super friendly so we'll definitely be visiting again when we are in the area. read more

Coco Swirl offers several choices of tart and sweet frozen yogurt and most of the flavors are non-fat! I had the tart blueberry and tart vanilla with mini chocolate chips on top although minus half a point for not having carob chips available on the toppings bar. My husband loved the tart mango. This place is a huge hit and I can totally see it as a franchise. I appreciate the eco-friendly paper cups. This business is a welcome addition to downtown Pleasant Hill. read more
