Asked for eggs over extremely easy - they came "medium" at best... Wife asked for "CRISPY" bacon... Got rubbery under cooked bacon... Wife asked for powdered sugar for the French Toast... NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT... left us wondering if he was going to get it or what??? Never came back to check on us until we were done, but did not give us the check... This place looks like a dive from the outside. It once inside, it's really not all that bad. The service was fast and super friendly. The food came in HUUUUGE portions and for the first time EVER, I didn't finish my breakfast. Their desserts of home made cakes and pies are on display as soon as you walk in. They all looked delicious. It best believe it'll take you three weeks to work all that off. Had an early dinner with friends on 9/29/2022. Waitress was friendly. Meal was barely warm. Cashier was dressed like a slop and had an attitude. She purposely worked as slow as possible and had a look of contempt as we walked to the register to pay. She asked me if I wanted to leave a tip when I paid with a credit card even though we all left a generous cash tip at the table. This will be our only visit to the establishmwnt. read more

Old American experience. I was on a business trip and had my share of food chain meals, so it was great to find this place which is surrounded by franchises. Back in the day, prices of this place was pretty reasonable - so even though food was mediocre at best we could put up with it. Now prices have gone up and on par with premier breakfast places like Hershey Pantry but the quality of food is still very mediocre. I was served the ends of a bread for toast. My sister had ordered a hot chocolate, and when she had eaten the whipped cream off the top, we discovered there was oil in the hot chocolate. When we told the waitress, she said she didn't see anything, but she would get another one. We told her not to get another one, and please just to take it off of the check. The waitress didn't take it off of the check. We eventually got it taken off of the check. The waitress also had an attitude when we asked questions. Family and I went in after a day at Hershey. The food was subpar even for a diner and my husband said his coffee tasted burnt. No noticeable flavor in any of the food and our drinks never got refilled. For 4 people, two of which were kids our meal came to over $50 for poorly done basic diner food. They appear to have no excuse to have a standard of quality because if it is late and one would avoid chains, then this would be their inevitable option. The service was average, but not as good as other establishments in the area. But the dinner, ugh.... is the reason why we try to avoid this place when we go to Hershey Park. The chili here is worse than Wendy's, seemed something out of the can. The seafood platter was in a decent portion, but the "haddock" was dry, along with dried-out seafood that wasn't worth it for $25 plus. Although the liver was almost cooked perfectly, it was served with a beef gravy that was too thick to be suitable for liver and something that is supposed to taste good has now been changed to an unappealing mess. Plus, the soup is more of a mush than of a soup. As it said before, if this was a possibility, I would skip this place entirely if going to Hershey. read more

Ok so my family and I visited this diner on this passed Saturday. Were greeted with warm smiles at 9:30pm. Server was sweet and down to Earth. (Forgive me, I can't remember her name). Children and I had burgers, medium. Needless to say they were well and dry. I had also chicken finger. Mildly frost bitten. Lady had lobster bisque. It was more like seafood flavored chowder. She also had the broiled seafood entree. Crab cake was loaded with an egg batter. I'd still give this place another chance therefore the 3 stars for potentially 5. However what made it so bad is the facts they offered a PHILADELPHIA CHEESESTEAK. I was so happy because I had been craving one for sometime. I was going to take a ch be until I read the ingredients. One ingredient didn't belong.....tomatoes sauce. You guys hurt my stomachs feelings. And as a former Philadlephia I was saddened. To the owner....it's football time. While a previous reviewer here had nothing good to say about the Cocoa Grill, I, on the other hand, can say some positive things. This is the second time this year (2010) that I have gone to the diner for both breatkfast and lunch. Today I met my neighbor for breakfast. After reviewing the menu I asked the waitress to order as she saw fit, (knowing the prices) and I asked for 2 eggs scrambled, hash browns, toast and 2 pancakes. She quickly knew which way to order this to save me money. My neighbor got the same but with bacon and sausage and a side order of hash browns with onions. I got a Coke and my friend got coffee. Our food arrived quickly and I was surprised at the quantity of it. I took pictures because I can honestly say I believe we got our money's worth. My bill was $10.70. The waitress checked back several times to see if everything was ok. The eggs were good and the pancakes were ok. No worse, no better than another other restaurant. The clientele was of a mixed age group. Many seniors there at that time. I would say the food is not spectacular but not bad either. Service is friendly and speedy. read more

After a long cold day at Hershey park. Me , my kids and my friend and her kids decided to eat dinner at the Cocoa Diner. When we arrived there it looked sketchy but we saw many people inside and decided to try it out .When we sat down, our table had scum all over it and we had to clean it with hand sanitizer. I ordered a seltzer water with lemon and got a regular water. My daughters ordered pink lemonades and when we got them it tasted like pink lemon water. My friends daughter ordered a sprite and instead of letting us know they didn't have sprite they gave us Sierra Mist. The whole time we were there the staff keep staring us down and standing in front of ur table looking at us. It made my kids, my friends kids and my friend very uncomfortable. When they took our orders they forgot to take my daughters order. My other daughters burger was soggy and Grey. She couldn't even eat it. The check came and sketchy people kept coming in. After the unusual experience we rushed to pay the bill and when I payed the lady in the front gave me a look of utter disgust. If your ever in the area please eat somewhere else. read more

We went to The Cocoa Diner for my Fiancé's birthday. We had the owners daughter as our waitress. Previously she has always been the hostess. The day that we were there it was her first day as a waitress. She did an amazing job. Our drinks always stay filled. She checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed and that our food was good. If the other waitress wouldn't of told us it was her first day as a waitress we wouldn't of known. I told the owner she needs a raise. This was before I knew it was his daughter. I came here with some friends one night randomly for dinner and ordered a bowl of soup/ chili and a salad..... neither of which were particularly edible. I ate here while visiting relatives in the area over Christmas break. This restaurant was once a Dempsey's (a knock-off of Denny's) and I basically lived here as a teenager...over 20 years ago. It was Christmas night, not much was open, otherwise I probably would have kept on driving. The decor has changed only slightly (newer lights, booth fabric changed), but it looked clean. The menu is a typical diner menu. I figured the open-faced turkey sandwich would be safe. And it was, even though the gravy was slightly gelatinous, the flavor was good and the turkey tasted fresh. The french fries were really good. The corn was flavorless...definitely from a can. My niece had the chicken croquettes, which were shaped like Madonna's boobs, circa 1990. Despite the shape, the croquettes were tasty and not overly bread-y, seemed homemade, as the menu claimed. I won't go out of my way to eat here next time I'm in the area, but if it's late at night and nothing else is open I won't have to starve. read more

Went there for a late breakfast on a Saturday morning. The dining room was busy but we were seated right away, waited on quickly and the food came out very quickly. The spinach bacon and cheese omelet was good, but everyone really enjoyed the hashbrowns! The middle is the consistency of mashed potatoes while the outside is brown and crunchy. Arrived close to 9 pm. Warm greeting and really fast attentive service. Great beef barley soup, great French onion soup. I loved my bacon and grilled cheese sandwich. Kids had a salad with onion rings/fries. Son had a grilled chicken sandwich. The soup tasted like a hug it was so nice after eating at the park all day. Friendly wait staff. My wifes open faced turkey was great. My daughter loved her Ceasar salad. Our server was very polite and attentive. But the Reuben was terrible. The meat was tough, the bread was soggy. By far the worst Reuben I have ever had at a diner. We will go back but I would strongly suggest they look into making a much better Reuben. read more
