I had the Kale Karma after a long day of heavy lifting setting up for an event on City Hall Plaza and it definitely hit the cold, health-conscious spot. I expected gritty juice-smoothie-mush, but it actually had a great texture. I also expected it to hold me over for a while, but I ended up having a grumbly tummy only an hour later. Bummer. They had a broader menu than I expected, with smoothie bowls and more meal-type food like mac n' cheese, as well as small take-away snacks (dairy-free yogurt! ...for $7.50 each...). I would love to try every flavor because I'm a sucker for a good smoothie, but there's no way I could afford more than one a month (#studentlife). There is definitely a lack of juice bars in Boston. Where are the Liquiterias, Blue Prints etc? Anyways, I am not into juice cleanses becuase I become a hangry lady and trust me, you would not want to come near me. However, I do enjoy a healthy cold pressed green juice now and then, especially on days when I feet fat and bloated. I usually buy the green juice in the refrigerator. There are all sorts of juices, some look milky, some don't. The employees are ok, don't expect them to help you. Overall, a great place to get cold pressed juices. I don't like healthy food. I just can't even pretend I do. My friend who I came to Boston with is super health conscious and Cocobeet was on her list. I flat out refused to pay $10 for juice, grimaced through ordering, but their Pink Pitaya Bowl is the real fucking deal. It is SO good. The contrast of flavor and textures is divine, there's such a good balance, it's bright pink - I could go on. And at $10.65, I felt it was a good value for money especially given that the food here caters to so many different kinds of dietary restrictions. Overall, would recommend. I'm still on the search for some decent acai in Boston. While Cocobeet's version is not up to par with my San Diego acai bowl experiences, it still does the trick when the craving comes on. I think where Cocobeet really shines is their variety of juices, waters, and elixirs. The staff is also very kind and knowledgeable about their products. One morning I came in looking to detox after a night of too much fun and they helped guide my defeated body to something to help recharge and rehydrate. I was looking forward to having Cocobeet for a while. The eagerly awaited its opening and I'm glad that I have been able to experience it now. Located right outside Government Center T stop, it's a quick stop on my way into work for a juice. The juices are cold pressed and filled with organic fruits and vegetables. They are pricey when each juice comes in just over $10 including tax but I think they are worth it when they substitute a lunch on a busy day. The guys there are so friendly, helpful, and informative. I've chatted with them regarding breastfeed and they have been able to suggest juices that contain a variety of fruits and vegetables that promote milk production. So, I wanted to find out what all the fuss is about this juicing trend. You see all the pictures on instagram of people juicing and it looks so healthy and delicious! Meanwhile, I had to go down to city hall to renew my parking sticker so I figured, hey, might as well try Coco Beet - reviews are great! When I went in I was greeted by two workers who explained that you can't customize anything as it takes 15 hours to cold-press the juices. Fine - makes sense. However, they also don't allow you to taste any of the juices to see which one you like. Annoying, but I go with it. I choose a juice that seems to have a good mix of vegetables and fruits (the Green Gene), pay ($10.09 with tax, yikes!), and leave. I get outside, take a sip, and almost spit it out. It tasted so bitter and was definitely not something I'd want to drink, let alone pay over ten dollars to drink! Now, maybe I picked the "wrong" flavor - I don't know...there were definitely more fruity looking options that could have been better, but at a place where you are paying this much, shouldn't every flavor be at least drinkable? I got home, showed my husband the bottle, and he couldn't believe how small it was for $10. Definitely NOT going back. I'm all for being healthy, but I'd rather make my own smoothies and juices at home for much less money, and with much better flavor. read more

Positives: The juices are delicious and they have a LOT of variety. You'd be hard-pressed to find a juice here that you didn't just absolutely love. Their concentrates (A+, Chlorella, etc) are also fantastic. Everything here is vegan and yummy! But for non-vegans, please don't be scared off by that - it's flavorful and totally satisfying. The kale salad is delicious with lots of flavor. I find myself craving this salad regularly! The vegan caesar salad will also blow your mind. Both are so healthy and simple, but super tasty. The desserts and snacks are also stellar, recommend: Chocolate Coconut Truffles and the Chocolate Mousse with Raspberry cream. Bonus: You can order online and they'll deliver! I have been silly excited for this place to open. It is the overpriced, organic, hip (not hippie) take-out joint that Boston has been dying for. It's sort of absurd that every other major city everywhere has a plethora of vegan options, and Boston's are relegated to Allston and Cambridge. I work very close by (and live not too far away, either), so I've been passing by, peering in the windows, and "liking" everything they've been posting on Facebook for the past few weeks, since it's right up my yuppie, plant-based alley. Yesterday, I passed by and noticed the plastic was taken down from the windows, so I cautiously went in. They had a few salads, juices, and other items in the refrigerator cases, and told me they were working on the rest of the food, but couldn't wait to open any longer. I got myself a Green Energy salad, a Blue Coconut smoothie, and a bowl of Tomato Chia Chili, which totaled around $25. I chatted with the owners(?) as they scrambled trying to find cups, utensils, and the like. They were very nice, excited for their new business, and seemed to want my input. They also (embarrassingly) recognized my name from Facebook. They rang me up on their iPad cash register, and I was on my way. The smoothie was tasty, and I was pleased that the salad had a half an avocado and some delicious (slightly spicy!) dressing. The chili was hearty and healthy, containing chia and shiitake mushrooms, I believe. I certainly can't afford to eat there every day, but I'll absolutely be back. read more

Perhaps you are like me; before I go on a diet, I spend everyday over-eating, self justifying in the McDonalds drive through line with comments like 'well, when I start my diet next week I won't be able to eat this so might as well eat it now...'. The problem is the diet slips from week to week but the bad eating doesn't. I've even noticed that as I get older, it gets increasingly harder to flip the switch and start eating well. Thank the dickens that I still have a modicum of self control which lead me to search 'juice cleanses' on the web where I found Cocobeet. Gov Center is a quick trip for me (parking is def a pia though) and I showed up yesterday morning. The owner, named Onur, was extremely helpful and walked me through products and the science behind their process. All items are made on site, organic and cold pressed. He obviously could tell that I was relatively new to this type of lifestyle and that I wasn't a practicing Vegan or Vegitarian and didn't come across as judgmental or preachy. It was all about being healthy AND being successful. I didn't want to feel starved all the time for the sake of my family... I get a condition I call Hangry (Hungry and Angry) when I try to go healthy. He walked me through the options and built a plan our for me, selecting the juices and a couple of meals for a 3 day cleanse. I'm writing this on day 2 and I have to say I'm really happy. The juices were incredibly fresh and tasty (disclaimer- yes, the Green Juice tastes like Green juice...but that is the point...it's not a strawberry milkshake...mmmmmm, strawberry milkshakes). All the juices were perfect for what they need to be...the Banana Chia was the last drink of the night and actually was like a milkshake(....mmmm, milkshakes). The meals were also delicious and filling- I had the Quinoa Burgers with spicy almond paste for lunch and the Mediterranean Salad for dinner. Today I'm down to one meal- Kale and Microgreens salad with cashew cheese, and the rest juice. I head back tonight for my final day of all juice...I say final but I'll probably go for another 2 days! I haven't been. Lastly about the money. Take it from a habitual Health Food Poser...I have cleaned out my entire fridge, throwing away every single item and replaced it with over $600 of organic veggies and food from Whole Foods for one week only to cave two days later and take the family out for Mexican(...mmmmm, mexican) while bushels of Kale liquified in the crisper drawer. I've done this at least 3 to 4 times a year for 10 years (yes, wicked hangry). It is WAY more expensive to try and eat like this on your own, and more wasteful...at least in my case. The important thing is to keep trying. Perhaps you are not like me. Perhaps you are already a vegetarian/vegan super healthy awesome person. Good for you. Go here it's right up your alley. read more

When I first noticed "Cocobeet," I became curious. Juicing is trendy these days, and I had no idea what to expect. I walked in one day, and I was warmly greeted. As I began to look at the juices and food available, trying to filter out the non-vegan options, the gentleman behind the counter informed me that everything in Cocobeet is vegan, and nearly all food options are gluten free (with the exception of the sandwiches). Also, all of their juice ingredients are ORGANIC! With that clarification, I was instantly hooked. Finally a place I can go that suits my vegetarian desires! The juices at Cocobeet are astounding! I'm pleased to know that their juices are cold-pressed, which means I'm getting the most nutrients for my body and my buck! My favorite juice is the "Peruvian Sun," which contains sweet potato, carrots, lemon, lime, and maca! It's naturally sweet and always refreshing. I can drink Peruvian Sun all day every day (and at the rate I'm going, I will). They also have lots of green juices with kale that are also sweet, but my favorite green juice is "Bright Lights," which is swiss chard, cucumber, mint, and e3 Live; it's the kind of juice for those mornings when my palate doesn't crave something sweet, but something minty and vibrant to awaken my senses! The granola they make is a great snack, and all of the sandwiches are delicious. It seems that Cocobeet strives to make food that is not only nutritious, but also delicious. I haven't had one bad experience with the food there. Most places that serve vegan food load their dishes with salt. Cocobeet loads their food with flavor! My lunch item of choice is the quinoa burger on arugula. It has this side of spicy almond spread that's absolutely delightful. Some of their sandwiches have avocado served with an almond hummus, which is also very tasty. Anyway, if you're a vegan, food-purist, or just interested in tasty healthy food, check out Cocobeet. Everyone there is warm and welcoming, as well as very knowledgeable about their products. I have historically been a random juice shopper in the supermarkets but never been able to sustain a regular stock of juices for me to drink. Thankfully the arrival of Cocobeet means that I now have a fridge that contains a variety of juices which i love and drink regularly. I buy the cleanse and detox juices and have them delivered and I am thrilled by the quality, effectiveness, variety and nutritional content of cocobeat juices. i can't rate the products highly enough and the fact that they are delivered to me at my home makes my life simple. Very mediocre service. I felt as though the employee was rushing us to make a decision and was mocking the fact that we were unsure about some of the ingredients. There was no line so we expected him to be a little more patient. While the service wasn't great, the acai bowl made up for it!! The blue seaweed bowl (i forgot the exact name) was AMAZING!! It was so refreshing and did not taste like seaweed at all. It was a nice change from the regular acai bowl that I would normally get. I would highly recommend the blue bowl but it might be seasonal. I am writing this review after volunteering at a camp and eating nothing but crap. Then again, it is what most people eat like processed sugar, dairy, meat by products, GMO fruit and little or no veggies. I feel gross I am not a juicer, but appreciate how much goes into a juice. You have to juice a ton of kale, spinach, celery and cucumber for a single juice. Cocobeet has a ton of different juices all designed for different interests. Yeah, I'm one of those people who has fallen prey to the juice craze. So I was happy to see this place pop up relatively close to where I work (although it's still a bit of a walk). It has a wide range of cold pressed juices, already bottled, for perusal. My favorite of the juices are the pleasant and fruity Happy Day (Pineapple, Apple, Cucumber, Mint) and the rich and sweet Peruvian Sun (Sweet Potato, Carrot, Apple, Lemon, Lime, Maca). While I love the green juices I've had at other juice places (like Jugos), the two main ones here (Green Genes and Green Gold) tasted too much like drinking a salad, which I found wholly unpleasant. One of my problems with cold pressed juices as opposed to made-to-order juices is that they're not customizable, and I really dislike celery (in both Green Genes and Green Gold). So I'm a bit sad that I can't really get an enjoyable green juice fix here. Their smoothies are pretty awesome, though. I especially love the Banana Chia (Banana, Almonds, Filtered Water, Dates, Chia Seeds, Flaxseed, Cinnamon) and Blue Coconut (Blueberry, Dates, Almonds, Filtered Water, Almond Butter, Coconut Oil, Chia Seeds), which are both delicious! As far as green smoothies go, the Green Monkey (Kale, Kiwi, Apple, Banana, Orange, Lemon) is pretty nice. Their salads are tiny and insanely overpriced; I once tried the kale one, which was fine, but definitely not worth the money. I have to say that I wasn't really impressed with their Vanilla Berry Chia Pudding or Key Lime Pie; I found the former syrupy and overly sweet, and the latter chalky and difficult to finish. As a nonvegan, i can't help but compare this key lime pie with regular key lime pie, and find the vegan version a sad unsatisfying substitute But I guess if you are a strict vegan, it might be better than nothing? I can see how vegans and health nuts would go crazy over this place. As someone with a less restrictive diet, I'd say that there are some nice options here for juices and smoothies, but I prefer the offerings at Jugos. I was really disappointed when they opened up and decided to not offer freshly made smoothies and juices. The pre-made drinks are still good but they lack the appeal that originally drew me in. I sometimes wonder how much of my $10.25 is going toward the fancy bottle. But I appreciate the listing of high quality ingredients and the list of current organics being used. Very small place, but so glad we found it. Wish we would have found it earlier in our visit. We were actually looking for a place to pick up some healthy food for out road trip to Montreal the next day. We picked up a Key Lime Tart with a berry sauce for dessert that night. With avocado as the first ingredient you felt like you were eating so healthy. It was very delicious! Everything there is organic and I believe most are gluten free, dairy free with vegan options as well. For the ride we picked up a quinoa burger on arugula with a side of spicy almond spread and I think it was a lemon salad dressing. The quinoa burgers were so amazing that I am hoping to figure out how to make them. We also got a blue coconut juice that has blueberry, almond butter, almonds, filtered water, coconut oil, chia seeds, and dates. I believe they even make their own almond milk. We also had a green magic juice that had cucumber, kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, lime, and spirulina in it. Again really good. They had many smoothies and juices to select from. They had a wonderful bean chili that we tried a sample of and if we hadn't had dinner already would have gotten that as well. They are more than willing to let you try samples of their juices which is quite nice. The customer service was perfect and I would definitely recommend them. Cocobeet is located in City Hall Plaza, right next to a Dunkin's. I don't think this small plant-based take-out spot is going to steal much business from Dunkin, but I'm happy it's there. They offer a small but thoughtful and tasty selection of vegan food, all to-go. They use top quality organic ingredients, which I appreciate, but it does make it pretty pricey. The portions are generous. I had a wonderful salad with four small quinoa burgers, that came with a tasty almond spread and a tangy, delicious salad dressing. I also ordered a "Finish line" organic cold-pressed juice, a blend of sunflower seeds mylk, watermelon, beet, banana, strawberries, dates, chia seeds, and lemon. Personally, I find almost all juices with all those vegetables to taste kind of earthy, but it had enough sweetness to make it palatable. Best Vegan Food, Smoothie & Juice place in Boston! Everything is cold-pressed using a huge hydraulic press in the back. You can hear the juices being pressed every day when you walk in, which is nice because you know it's fresh. The staff there is super friendly, and the owner is extremely knowledgeable and personable! The smoothies are the most flavorful and diverse of any other juice/smoothie bar in Boston. My personal favorites are the Blue Coconut, Chocolate Power Mylk, Finish Line and Shake the Tree. For juices, my favorites are definitely the Green Genes (there's 7-8 lbs. of *organic* produce in each bottle- can't beat that.), and the Forbidden Juice (spicy and DELICIOUS). I also swear by their health shots. I love their Green Heat shot- it's a 2 oz. shot of1 oz. kale and 1 oz. ginger- that's it! It's super spicy which is my favorite, and makes me feel revitalized every time after I drink it. Even though it is most known for it's juices and smoothies, I would venture to say that the salads are among the best in Boston as well. The Quinoa Burger salad is out of this world, and so is the Vegan Caesar. Everything is pre-packaged and made fresh daily. As someone who works in the Financial District, having completely vegan and organic food packaged makes it so easy to run in and grab breakfast/lunch/dinner quickly (I have had many days where I've eaten all three meals from Cocobeet). Their raw brownie bites and chocolate coconut truffles have all the sweet flavors you want but thankfully none of the chemical crap associated with mass-produced options. Though I wish there wasn't as much added sugar in some of the food options, I am so pleased to have found this little gem. Please come to Chicago!! Over several days, I enjoyed the kale Caesar, roasted pear salad, and quinoa sliders. All were amazingly tasty and I wish I had the recipes. I definitely like Cocobeet, a lot, and I appreciate their attention to detail when it comes to putting the right thing in your body and still making it yummy. The quinoa sliders and smoothies are great examples of this delicious balance. The staff is friendly, the place is impeccably clean, food is fresh and there's a decent variety for the very small niche in which they specialize. This place would get 5 stars from me if the prices weren't quite SO outrageous. $20 for a meager lunch isn't really that appetizing. I splurge here and there because it really is great, healthy food... But only the filthy rich could eat here every day. (With that said, I do understand the cost of maintaining such fresh options, vegan and organic choices, so if they can still do a good business with the high prices, more power to them!) I know, I know -- juice bars are trendy so that's why all the city folk are going to them. If you don't live in a big city, you may not be fully aware of this trend, but it's likely you've heard of it. The truth is that outside of New York City, there aren't a lot of juice bars that are making their juice by cold-pressing it and not pasteurizing it at all. That's where Cocobeet comes in. Located in the heart of Boston, this new takeout joint is not only a great place to get fresh, raw, cold-pressed juices, but a great place to get grab-and-go healthy food too. All of the products they sell are unprocessed, GMO-free, organic, locally sourced, raw and vegan. There are gluten-free options as well. I ended up there the day before a national holiday so there weren't too many products prepared for the day. But, what they had looked great. The juice selection, on the other hand, was well-stocked. I had so much trouble choosing with flavors like the Spice-C made with orange, ginger, and jalapeno and the Watermelon Quench made with watermelon, pineapple, and lemon. I finally settled on the McGregor's Garden made with spinach, parsley, carrot, celery, and lemon. One of the owners, Onur, happened to be there and I was telling him how much I liked this juice as I love green juices and he told me that that juice was his favorite too, but the customers' least favorite. Most people want a sweet juice, not a green juice so they may not be ready for the green goodness inside! I also tried the Forbidden Juice made with grapefruit, pineapple, ginger, lemon, cayenne, and turmeric. I loved this one too...and it was sweet. It is a very balanced juice with more pineapple taste than anything else, but with a little kick of cayenne. The cold-pressed juice process creates juice without using heat that could kill off the vitamins, nutrients, and enzymes. So they produce the freshest, most nutritious raw juice this way and it has a shelf life of only four days. Most people don't realize that most made-to-order juices that you get on the spot while you wait are created by machines using centrifugal force. The end result is a juice that is 80% water and 20% nutrients. The enzymes and nutrients are neutralized or destroyed, and the spoilage process begins immediately. For lunch, I had their Avocado and Spinach sandwich on sprouted grain. It was about as good as a pre-packaged sandwich could be. Usually sandwiches that are prepacked don't taste fresh and get soggy, but everything at Cocobeet is so fresh, I doubt any of it ever gets that way. The real star in this sandwich is the homemade cashew cheese that gives the sandwich a great flavor. I also picked up a box of their Cheesy Kale Chips and these are by far some of the best kale chips I've ever had. As they are made fresh there and not shipped anywhere else, the kale leaves are full and intact. The seasoning has a sort of mustard flavor to it. Made with cashews, sunflower seeds, nutritional yeast, onion powder, garlic powder, turmeric, lemon juice, and cayenne -- the flavor will blow you away. When Cocobeet first opened, they put honey in some items. Since then, they've gone 100% vegan so any reference to honey is only on the package because they printed thousands of labels and want to use them up before replacing them. This isn't a bargain lunch spot as fresh organic food is never cheap. The juices sell for $7.50 to $9.95 for a single serving, sandwiches are $5.95 to $8.95 and salads are $8.95. They also offer smoothies, warm quinoa breakfast bowls, key lime pie, chocolate coconut truffles, and veggie quinoa sliders. There isn't any seating so it is take-out only, but it is so worth the trip. Just find a spot outside and enjoy your healthy lunch. I only wish DC had a place like this. I travel regularly and so I have had the opportunity to try vegan and raw fare in dozens and dozens of cities in the U.S. and around the world, and Cocobeet is one of those rare finds that makes you want to yell their name from rooftops. And so here I am, yelling! The Quinoa Sliders are out of this world and the dipping sauce served with them packs a kick while still maintaining complex flavor. I tried two green juices, one watermelon, and one spicy grapefruit during my short stay in Boston and they were all exceptional. The quality of the ingredients really puts this place over the top. But more importantly, it's the integrity of the ingredients and the integrity of the couple who manage this place. I had the opportunity to meet one of the owners (Onur) and his passion for clean eating and providing the best possible product shines through. He is committed to using processes that help to retain the nutrients and "aliveness" of the food and it's obvious that he doesn't take any shortcuts. At the risk of sounding too "woo woo", there is just a "vibe" about this place. You feel like you're stepping into an art studio where the "art" is juice and raw, vegan food. In my opinion, as the world becomes more and more interested in healthy eating, this place will be at the front of the charge. An absolutely MUST stop for anyone in Boston who is eating vegan, raw, or gluten free, or just interested in GREAT tasting food and juices that also happen to be good for you. read more
