Came here for the first time to do some studying. I wasn't too sure if it would be a good study spot since I hadn't been before but it worked out nicely. There's a good amount of tables and outlets nearby. I went in the late afternoon on the weekend and it wasn't busy either. The drinks were refreshing. I got the lime mojito and would definitely recommend. I also tried their ham and cheese sandwich. I wish they would have updated photos or a description of the food items. I didn't expect the sandwich to come with mustard and pickles (two things I don't enjoy too much). I would want to come back and try some of their desserts next time though!
Cute place, it was packed but by time we left all the tables were full. Has a lot of variety on the menu. I enjoyed our snow ice, a very shareable portion.
I've been wanting to try bingsu for a while, and this place satisfied my craving! It is definitely large enough to share between 2 people. The mango was ripe and sweet, mochi was nice and chewy, and the vanilla ice cream on top was quite flavorful. The snow ice itself had less flavor than the vanilla ice cream, but when all eaten together it was really delicious. They've got quite a few tables inside, there were several groups here on a Saturday night. Would come again if I were craving bingsu and in the area!
Today I was just looking for something new and simple to satisfy my usual matcha green tea craving on a Saturday morning. Downtown San Mateo didn't work out due to the congestion and protesting, so I end up in this part of town. A random pick seeing the good reviews and I am not disappointed so far. Right next door to Han Kook market on El Camino. Plenty of parking and as soon as you go inside, you are greeted by spaciousness and calm vibe with light K-pop in the background. I thought their menu was interesting, but I was just focused on getting one item and ended up with hot Green Tea Latte for $5.45 Staff that assisted me said my drink was composed of matcha green tea powder + vanilla powder and sprinkled with some sea salt in top. Not a bad concoction! I'll definitely be back for more because my small cup was gone like the wind. I like how there's plenty of small square tables for two and a few round tables for 4+ seats. A plus that they have a small hallway that leads to his and her bathroom. Only downside of this place is that their electrical outlets are far and few so bring your laptops charged or portable chargers if you plan on staying here longer! Overall a decent find today and recommend everyone to stop by here!
Nice walnut desserts with walnut inside and different flavors red bean, Nutella, cream cheese, hot dog. I had only tried the original red bean but today I tried the other flavors and they were all good. Maybe not the hotdog haha. I got a gift box to give a friend of mine. I also got the matcha latte with oat milk and it was good, kind of small size. Overall a really nice cafe to hang out and the walnut desserts are really good.
We were feeling snacky so coffees, 21 cocohodos and a vanilla ice cream were ordered. Everything was made well and we got to see the process of them making the walnut pastries. It was nice to try it again~
This place stinks, literally. The sewage smell permeates the entire restaurant especially in the back near the bathrooms and kitchen. Despite the stench, the place appears clean and well decorated. The staff is friendly and seems to work hard. O feel bad for them needing to breathe that all day long. It's gross and probably bad for you. The berry bingsu came out quickly and was actually very good. The ice was nicely sweetened and the fruit was fresh and sweet. The ice cream, I suspect, came from the Costco freezer. I'm going to let you look at the picture and see if you see what we see. The berry waffle took a while but wasn't worth the wait. The waffle was kind of undercooked and had minimal flavor. The whole thing had too much whipped cream and a watery sweet sauce. It had the same ice cream as the bingsu. I may go back for the bingsu if they fix the ambiance and stench.
Our family loves Cocohodo!! We haven't been here for a minute now since we longer live near Sunnyvale. We love eating their walnut pastry. The adults loves the original which comes with red bean filling, and the kids loves the nutella flavor. So good..perfect bite!! We ordered the large bag which comes with 21 pieces, and it's always gone within a day. We also ordered the Mango Bingsu and it was so good!! Refreshing and delicious we devoured it. It was so good. Love how the service is quick and the staff are friendly. I love how there are plenty of place to sit on and enjoy your walnut pastry and Bingsu. They also serve coffee If you want.
We came here for some post dinner dessert on a hot day and it really hit the spot. The shaved ice was a manageable size! Normally they are just waaay too big. They had good flavor options and it tasted great! It was end of night so they didnt have many walnut pastry options left. But the ones we had were delicious. I would try to get there earlier in the day for fresh ones!

Nice cozy dessert place serving shaved ice and unique walnut shaped pastries with red beans, Nutella and other fillings. We had the Mango Bingsu. Pretty decent serving size although may not be commensurate for an almost $18 dessert. We enjoyed it but some pieces of mango were hard and lacked flavor. Overall, pretty good. Service was quick but TBH lacked warmth - probably because we came 20 mins before they closed for the day.
Friendly service and the berry bingsu was good. The waffle in the ice cream waffle item was undercooked and overpriced for the quality. There are plenty of tables and the space is modern. However, the foul sewage smell permeating this space makes dining here unbearable. They need an inspection to figure out the source, better ventilation, and an air filter.
The older I get, the more I fear that I'm turning into my mom...complaining that food is either too salty or too sweet. I haven't started rocking the sun visor and puffy vest yet sooo maybe there's some hope! Cocohodo is a Korean Dessert Café that has been open since 2012 (South Korean Franchise). They offer takeout and dine in. No delivery. No outdoor seating. M E N U Cocohodo signature item: Hodugwaka, *freshly* pressed walnut pastry. Most are familiar with SomiSomi right? This is a walnut shaped bungeoppang/taiyaki, pancake-like batter that's filled with walnut + red bean paste (original), Nutella, or cream cheese. They also have a savory option that's like corn dog bites (no walnut). They also offer bingsu (Korean shaved ice), waffles, ice cream, coffee, tea, smoothies, and blended drinks. Dairy alternatives: Soy, oat, almond milk. M Y P I C K On my last visit, I purchased two mini gift boxes of 12 Hodugwaka w/ 1/2 Original and 1/2 Nutella ($13/box): https://tinyurl.com/45wn6ppw When I opened the box, I was disappointed that the original walnut pastries w/ red bean paste was not warm, nor were they freshly pressed. The pastry shell was stale and dry. I tried warming them up in the airfyer to no avail. Same result....DRY. The whole point of purchasing these pastries is to enjoy them fresh/warm. The Nutella one was warm and melty inside but the pastry shell was also dry (different recipe?). First time ever having this issue so not sure if it's a post-covid/staffing issue thing. They also used to give fresh samples off the press but looks like that's not happening anymore? Unfortunately, it was a waste of $30 and even more embarrassing to gift someone with stale pastries. Really hope this was an anomaly. OTHER NOTES: * I've tried their Bingsu (Korean shaved ice) and the ice is course like a snow cone, not the meltingly soft + creamy, powdery snow texture which I prefer. * Their Misugaru, multi-grain latte (or smoothie) is solid if you're looking for a healthy and nutritious drink with a malty, nutty flavor. * Plenty of outlets for laptop campers. * Easy parking in the plaza and Hankook is just next door.

Definitely came out of curiosity of these "walnut pastries", stayed for a bit of their other dessert fare. Pretty good value as far as their waffles go (cause that thing is stacked ot the high heavens), and their walnut pastries are surprisingly aromatic and are a delightful snack. Parking wasn't *too* bad to find since it's situated in a decently sized lot. Interior seating only, but they have a nice window in which you can see their process and the space is fairly open. Better for smaller groups as far as seating goes though. ==Cookies and Cream Waffle [5/5]== Generally pretty solid and no major critiques; waffle was fresh and moist and the toppings were plentiful and clean. They have a matcha waffle option I saw only after looking at their menu more closely, and I'd definitely want to try that another time. ==Walnut pastry [5/5]== These small walnut inspired baked goodies are remarkably flavorful for their small package (coming individually wrapped too). They come in four variations (red bean, cream cheese, nutella, and hot dog) and can be purchased as a mixed bag of unlabeled ones (cause mystery surprise!). I'm guessing they just throw three flavors randomly since we only got the sweet flavors in threes. Just the right amount of sweetness for a tasty treat and all three we got (red bean, cream cheese, nutella) were pretty nice. read more

Nice desert place. I came because I was intrigued about the walnut pastry. However the shaved ice are something to rave about. It's huge and will probably feed 4-5 people. You can add additional toppings but for the cookie and cream one everything taste good as is. The walnut cookie are ok. I got the variety filling. It's like a little pastry with filling and a walnut inside. I didn't care for it too much but would come again for shaved ice. read more
Came here on a whim since my girlfriend was craving some bingsoo. Interior felt cozy, but some of the seats are kind of ripped. Decided on the mango bingsoo since it was the most popular bingsoo and we both like mango. The mango ice cream at the top was good. Sweet and mango-ey. The actual mango chunks around the edge were kind of tart and sour. this was disappointing for us, since the overall dessert already was not that sweet. There was also some small mochi balls, which were ok too. Once we finished the toppings, there was just a lot of plain ice at the bottom. we felt like more of the mango sauce or some condensed milk would have helped this part read more

One of the best bingsoos I've tried! The ice isn't the usual flakey texture, it's more like ice. But my favorite was how generous they were on the fruits and overall quantity. The mango ice cream was so good. We split one among two people, but I think it could even be shared between 3-4. We came at an odd hour so our order was completed very quickly! read more

First time at Cocohodo was a good experience, plenty of seating for a Friday afternoon dessert shared with a friend! Saw that the mango shaved ice was labeled best, but I wasn't a fan of the hard mango pieces that weren't sweet, and I wish there was more chewy rice cake pieces. The mango ice cream is what you'd expect. The texture of the shaved ice was also on the harder side that didn't melt in the mouth. Wait time after ordering was not long at all. Overall it's a nice and clean dessert place with cafe vibes. They also have coffee and waffle desserts options so I will give something else a try if I find myself back at Cocohodo. read more

The walnut pastries is just okay.. I don't like the red beans filling it's dried and not really special, but the cheese and hot dog filling are better. The smoothies very good. Plenty of tables here so if you need to come to study it's a nice hidden spot, very quiet because not many people sit here most just pickup their orders. Also plenty of parking. Its next to Hankook supermarket so if you need to get grocery it's a good spot read more

The desserts were ok. I had the mango shaved ice, and I was happy with it but not blown away. It's not something I would search out the next time I'm in the mood for a dessert. My wife had the green tea and compared it to super market bought ice cream but not at the quality of Haagen Dazs. The cocohodo were good but quite expensive for a donut hole size pastry with a walnut inside. We had the cream cheese and Nutella and liked both. Service is non-existent. You order your food, clean your table, pour your own water, and are still prompted to tip when paying, lol. Inside is spacious with plenty of seating. I doubt I'll be back. read more
My first time here and I was very irritated when the entire cafe smelled like bleach right when I walked in. Not sure if they were cleaning in the back but customers shouldn't be smelling that while they are eating. I ordered their most popular shaved ice which was the original shaved ice and that was also very disappointing. The ice was very coarse and the grain powder wasn't good. If I'm paying almost $15 for some shaved ice, I am expecting the ice to be somewhat on the softer side. I am very disappointed with this cafe and most likely won't be retuning again. read more

Waited at the counter for a while before anyone came out. The food looks much better than it tastes. Mango shaved ice: Shaved ice not fine enough. Hurts roof of mouth. Mango not ripe and too chewy and fibrous. Ice cream artificial tasting Nutella Waffle: Not enough Nutella to be called a Nutella waffle, barely a drizzle. Mostly whipped cream. Waffle too chewy, not crispy enough on outside. read more
My first time hearing of and trying out walnut pastries! ~~ FOOD ~~ We ended up deciding to order the mango shaved ice and a small bag of walnut pastries (9 total) -- 3 Nutella, 3 cream cheese, and 3 red bean. The pastries ended up being a game of Russian Roulette -- all the pastries look exactly the same! It was hard to divide flavors evenly between the two of us. * Walnut Pastries (4/5) -- Nutella : My 2nd fav! A bit too sweet for me though -- Red Bean : MY FAV -- Cream Cheese : Very creamy and packed. Overall, these pastries were kinda a bit too creamy/sticky so I really felt like I needed water to properly chew and swallow. I still find this idea of walnut shaped pastries with walnuts inside very cute and innovative. *Mango Shaved Ice (3/5) Appreciated the amount of fruit, but it was harder to finish at the end when it was mostly ice. Some of the many chunks weren't also fully ripe and felt slightly icy? Overall, I did enjoy it but it wasn't anything too special -- Store -- This place is in a plaza so there's plenty of talking. There's a lot of nice indoor seating and many other friend groups were also sitting here as well. read more
Came here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon! The interior was clean with plenty of seating available! We shared the green tea bingsoo, which was amazing! It was topped with matcha ice cream, red bean, mochi and crushed walnuts. It was also very aesthetically pleasing, which we appreciated! I would definitely recommend sharing the bingsoos with a few friends, since the portion size is pretty large for a single person! Hoping to come back again to try the cocohodos! read more
I really want to like this cute little shop but it just hasn't impressed me. 1. I think the walnut pastries are just ok - but that may be personal preference. I know many ppl like them. 2. The shaved ice is very disappointing. We got the mango one bc it's supposed to be the best. It looked pretty, but once we dug in, we found the ice to be extremely chunky instead of finely shaved. The mango chunks were hard and unripe - they taste like frozen mango. There wasn't much flavor overall. We've had much better shaved ice. Not to mention this was $14+. Def not worth it! read more
Great interior decor, comfortable cafe setting, Desserts are very pretty but tastes average. We ordered the mango shaved ice. This type of shave ice is the crunchy ice, not that korean powdery ice. I personally prefer the softer melts in your mouth ice over this type crunchy ice cube type of shaved ice. So it is really a personal preference. Quite underwhelmed by the mango ice cream, since it has an artificial mango candy type flavor. The mango pieces itself are hard and almost feels like they were frozen before, definitely not freshly cut mango. Again, I am quite spoiled by sweet fresh mangos so I do have high expectations when it comes to mango. I do have to compliment the mochi in the shave ice, they are very soft and chewy! Love that it adds a different texture fo the shave ice! We came on a weekend afternoon and surprisingly there are many empty tables inside. There are plenty parking at this plaza so finding parking is not a problem. Great place to get some work done in a comfortable environment. Maybe I will try their pasty and coffee next time while here! read more

What better way to end spring and welcome summer than to enjoy a bowl of freshly shaved ice at Cocohodo! It's been difficult finding a place that serves deliciously shaven ice for a price that tastes great and doesn't break your wallet! Can't remember the exact price, but I definitely know it was reasonable (also, just look at the size of it!!) Topped with a sweet and creamy serving of vanilla ice cream and accompanied by fresh bananas, strawberries, and blueberries, and drizzled with condensed milk, this shaved ice definitely hits the spot after baking in the sun, lol. What I didn't like was the heavy serving of red beans T_T I'm sorry, but I'm just not a fan of azuki beans and I know it's a common addition to shaved ice. Had I known that red beans were included, I would've requested for them to be omitted or to the side for my partner to enjoy alone, lol. Anyways, the shaved ice wasn't overly sweetened and nor was it bland in flavor. I also appreciated how fluffy the ice texture was, compared to other places that served crunchy and stiff shaved ice. Call me crazy, but the texture of the shaved ice is just as important as the flavor is!! read more

Time for my shaved ice fix and this time at Cocohodo. Some things that stand out here versus other Korean shaved ice shops: ample toppings and it's not too sweet which I appreciate. I usually play it safe and get the mango flavor bingsoo (since you can't go wrong with mango) but this time I decided to go with their berry flavor and I am glad that I did. The berry shaved ice came with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, red bean, mochi, and a scoop of ice cream on top. It was delicious! I usually can't eat one by myself but today I didn't have an eating partner to help me out so I'm rolling up my sleeves and tackling this one solo! This place has a coffee shop vibe. I see people here taking their time browsing the internet or having conversations with friends. Nice relaxing atmosphere. read more
I believe they have the best patbingsu in the area that reminds me of the small stores in Korea. The nuttiness from the injeolmi/misutgaru (grain) and the red bean, small mochis and ice cream just hit the spot whenever I crave bingsu. They also have 20% off one day old Walnut breads at times so I always take advantage of that. Eating the warm bread with the shaved ice is just a healing time. Recommend! read more
I just ordered from Cocohodo for the third time! I can say I am obsessed Options: The menu isn't crazy but with a lot of options for the shaved ice, there's the mango shaved ice, cookies and cream, green tea, and other simple flavors. My favorite out of two that I have tried so far is the mango shaved ice. Toppings: Not too many topping option but I have definitely purchased extra of at least one topping extra mochi. For 1.50 I would have expected that the portion size would be bigger was only a few pieces. Size/portion size The portion size of the shaved ice is awesome it's enough to feed 2 if you don't mind sharing. I have also had left over as well for the next day and it kept well. Bonus I ordered on DoorDash and both of my last orders came with tiny ice packs. That's always nice! Flavors I wish they had more flavor variety and a better serving of additional toppings. read more

I've been in the plaza with Cocohodo many times while shopping at Hamlin Korean Market, but I decided to check out the walnut pastries Cocohodo had to offer. I got the original red bean Cocohodo, which is a sweet pastry made with walnuts and red bean wrapped in cake batter. I also decided to try the berry shaved ice. Unfortunately, while I had the opportunity to see the cocohodo being made through the window, the ones we received were lukewarm. The berry shaved ice was also nothing special. Shaved ice with condensed milk, topped with red beans and Costco Vanilla Ice Cream. Pros: Relative fast service. The cocohodos tasted okay, but it would have been great if they had made it to order, rather than making using older batches. Cons: Shaved ice was not very notable and also kinda pricey. The shaved ice at Teaspoon and Tour Le Jour is much more reasonably priced and tastier. read more
I've been to Cocohodo a few times and it's become one of my favorite places to order dessert! The first time we came, we tried the cookies and cream waffle because it seemed to be very popular, and it was delicious! The past few times, we've ordered the cookies and cream shaved ice which is also amazing and one of my favorite desserts! I visited Cocohodo today (weekend) right after lunch time, and there was tons of open seating. We ordered right away as there was no line, and then got water. They have a nice little station with a water pitcher, cups, napkins, etc. after getting our water and waiting at a table for a bit, the shaved ice was ready. Today it looked extra beautiful and delicious! It truly is just as good or even better than it looks in the photos! If you visit Cocohodo, I'd say the cookies and cream shaved ice is a must try if you like chocolate or oreos. It's so good and I love it every time! read more
I used to come here a lot growing up and decided to come back for the first time since covid. I got the original bingsoo and it tasted exactly the same as 5+ years ago! The size is good for 2 people and the condensed milk/injeolmi powder to the shaved ice ratio is perfect. read more

First time here! Nice seating and cozy decor. This place is known for their walnut pastries, but we got their waffles + some coffee. In terms of service we were helped sort of quick, I ordered first and my friend ordered after me, but they took awhile to get to her (~5min) even though it was slow (only us waiting in line, maybe they had online orders). The Cocohodo latte (hot) was very creamy and dense. It didn't pair well with the food, so I would recommend it only if you're not getting food. The waffles were big and filling, but I don't think they're worth almost $16. The plating was super cute! Once you order, you pick up your food from the "pick up here" side and choose your own seating. Nice music and good lighting, it's perfect for pics! I have to come back to try their walnut pastry to give them a more fair rating. read more
I saw this place show up a couple of times when I was randomly searching for shaved ice, hot chocolate, and other desserts from time to time and never got to try it. But now that I tried it recently, I'm glad that I did! It's a cute Asian cafe with multiple options. I forget if it had snacks too, but they have desserts and cafe drinks that would cater to anyone. They have a ton of tables for seating. I decided to go for the cookies and cream cocochino, which was basically like a crushed ice milk shake without coffee. I thought it was solid, wasn't too sweet but tasted exactly like what it says it is. I like it more than the traditional milkshake because it's icier like a frappe than creamy. I have no complaints about the drink, it was good. This is a great place to hang out or even get individual items togo if you don't want to go to a traditional coffee place. I have my eyes on their shaved ice next time which I saw was served in their steel bowls, so looked legit! read more

We got the small Cocohodo 3 of each flavor beside hotdog. They were surprisingly delicious like a pancake ball with crunchy walnut and filling. It was also really good paired with the Berry Shaved Ice which had strawberry, banana, red bean, mochi bites, and ice cream drizzled with condensed milk. Overall really satisfying for a hot day! read more
Found this place on Yelp looking for a dessert spot. First time here and the service was excellent. The restaurant is very clean. The Mango Shaved Ice was perfect not sweet and be careful because it can get very messy. My wife and I also tried the Nutella Waffle with Ice Cream. I don't eat banana with dessert but it was very delicious. read more
Cocohodo has been a go-to spot since discovering it a few months ago. Spacious seating, outlets, and wifi make it an ideal place to get work done, especially if you don't want the traditional cafe options. It has its busy moments but I've never seen it reach max capacity and I've always been able to snag a seat. Bonus points for having a loyalty system as well! I've explored a bit of their menu and so far they haven't missed. Their shaved ice especially has been a savior during these summer months: I've had the mango and the coffee. Mango is the winner by far as the coffee flavour wasn't as strong as I'd prefer. Their titular red bean walnut pastries are also very good and not too sweet. They sell them in various quantities but the coffee+4 pastry combo is my favorite. Only item I probably wouldn't get again is the misugaru latte as it felt like it wasn't blended well enough so it was powdery at times. Takeout is an option for the shaved ice--they'll give you 2 small ice packs to try and keep it cool but honestly it's still going to melt if you're not quick enough. Wish they would provide the cooler bags like Sul&Beans, but come with your own if you can. Highly recommend you give this place a try! read more
So when you come here if you want the little walnut balls the smallest order is 9. They are small so I guess thats why they do a order of 9. But if you don't like them you are out of luck. We got 3 hotdog, 3 cream cheese, and 3 nutella. They were all tasty. I liked the cream cheese one the best. It's called walnut because there is a half walnut inside it. We also ordered the cookies n cream shaved ice and the berry shaved ice just strawberry no red bean. Both were very tasty and filling. The shaved ice tasted like sweet cream. So it's definitely a high calorie item. read more
Service was so-so, but the desserts weren't bad! We got the mango shave ice and the ice cream waffle. The ice cream waffle was the better of the two desserts, since the shave ice was very chunky ice. In contrast, the waffle was light, fresh, and crispy. I also got a citrus tea, which was yuzu. The staff wasn't able to explain what a coco latte was, or explain what citrus was in the citrus tea (I had to just order and find out). There were several empty tables for two, and we were able to push two together for our party of four. It was self-bussing, and it was a little hard to find add-ins for coffee (they don't have creamer, but gave us a random cup of half and half instead). My first visit back in more than a year and first time since dine-in options have reopened. I have been craving their sweet potato latte and the walnut pastries for a long time. It's no longer packed with tables, instead it's all spread out--all safely distanced. The staff is masked and gloved, the were people/tables spread out and we could dine in comfortably. While the pastries are still served individually wrapped, the coffees are no longer served in ceramic cups & saucers, but instead in disposable paper cups. On this visit we were sad to learn that they no longer offer the sweet potato latte, I think it was a seasonal beverage. So we ordered lattes and a small bag of nutella & red bean walnut pastries to have with the lattes. I'd forgotten good these bite sized pastries tasted! I will definitely return and when the weather gets warmer for the bingsu. read more

A Korean pastry shop that is big on walnuts, coffee, tea, and waffles. For my order had the 'Grain Latte' which was made from multi grain powder (brown rice, black bean, oats, and black barely) it was weird at first but then started to really enjoy it. It was a tiny bit thick and had a nice balanced sweetness to it. The cashier was explaining every thing that went into it with pride. Was so full from lunch so didn't get any freshly made pastries. For sure will come back next time in town. read more

After a nice dinner, you always contemplate dessert at the restaurant or else where? For my friend and I we opted on shaved ice over at Cocohodo. I'm all about introducing friends to new experiences when it comes to food. Saturday evening seemed busy and everyone had the same idea, but all in all we were able to find a table and the line to order was handled quickly by the cashier. I typically go for the fruity shaved ice options, but my friends choice was the cookies and cream. I guess you can say although I had been here before this flavor was new to me. It was just the right amount of cookies paired with ice cream chocolate drizzle and of course the shaved ice that just melts away at every bite. Portion size is perfect for two adults trying to get their dessert fix. The environment was a mix of customers all enjoying the wonderful treats Coco has to offer. Parking is plentiful. Wait time for ordering was a bit due to the fact that the employee running the register would leave to help out with the order. I ordered the Nutella waffle (5/5): super good. The flavor was just oh so sweet. The strawberries and chocolate combo was a good choice along with the bananas. Google/apple pay is accepted here. Overall cocohodo is a delicious place for dessert but would probably not come back here due to the long wait. read more
