Hidden gem which we stumbled randomly looking for a dessert place close by Food - I settled for the Mango Coconut Jelly. I do prefer this location better than Melo Melo. Why? It was a few dollars cheaper and it's a little less sweeter but the consistency and flavor is still there. I also tried the Durian Crepe Cake. I'm a huge fan of Durian but this was not to my liking possibly because it was not traditional durian flavor. One of my friends did settle for the Mochi Waffle which is your traditional Asian waffle that you would see at Asian cafes. It was good and fresh! Service - The service was amazing. The girl working alone on 12/01/23 at night was so nice! She was very friendly and helped us with the questions we had for her. She also overheard my friends and I saying it was a bit cold so she came by to let us know she would adjust the temperature for us without us asking her which I thought was super thoughtful. This place is okay. Not super great but not super bad. I thought the coconut jelly wasn't sweet enough for my taste, but overall it was still good. I did like that they had more options to choose from than Melo Melo, but other than that nothing really stood out to me in terms of taste. The decor was pretty extravagant and the place looked pretty clean but the bathroom was a bit messy inside when I went. I think this place would score a little higher if the service was better. There was only one guy working when we went and I tried ordering the mango coconut but it was sold out and he looked annoyed when I didn't know. Immediately after he was done grabbing our order, he sat down with a group of other boys and proceeded to chat loudly. I'm all for taking breaks when you need to but in my opinion it's unprofessional to treat work like a hangout spot. read more

Love the coconut jello dessert here! It's light and not too sweet. It's pretty much like a coconut panna cotta; not sure if it's a completely a vegan product. 15 flavors to choose from. They also make crepe cakes, bubble waffles, and specialty drinks. A big heads up: check expiration on desserts! Ask the staff when the coconut jello was made or any other desserts. My issue was with the coconut jello. While everything tasted fresh the first day, by the third day my coconut jelly desserts were spoiled! It was properly transported home in a timely manner and refrigerated right away, so perhaps I got an old batch? I wasn't happy. If I knew that the coconut jellos needed to be eaten the same day I probably would not have bought as much. Oh well. Service was attentive and the cafe is cute. Parking: easy parking available since it's inside a plaza Food: HK egg waffles: I'm so happy this place sells HK egg waffles as there's not a lot of places in 626 that make them or make them good. These egg waffles surprised me! They are crunchy on the outside with just enough filling inside. Really similar to the authentic egg waffles in Hong Kong. And the price was only $3.99 Mango Pomelo sago: this might have tasted a lot better if it was colder. Otherwise just very mediocre mango sago. It's nice that it's not too sweet. There are good dessert places and there are high end dessert places. This falls in the latter category. Chinese businesses are coming up. Gone are the days of budget saving foods. These trendy pop ups are here to stay. The ambience of this place is surreal. The teal blue / gold / silver accents make the inside extremely luxurious. Even the wall paper was timeless. The service was incredible! I was about to order a mango coconut jelly and the server warned me that the mangos are not that ripe. No one goes the extra mile like this anymore. I ended up going with the mochi egg waffles and the limited edition bird's nest coconut jelly. Let me tell you that both were the best of its kind. The coconut jelly had this high end taste that made me unsure when I took my first bite. It quickly grew on me. The egg waffle was done very well. It was warm, soft, and chewy. I don't like to leave critical reviews but this was my first visit to Coconut Jelly King. My sister really wanted to try their menu items out. The inside is beautifully designed and it's amazing how they transformed the space. I think there was only 1 guy working here so they were really short staffed. We ordered a mango coconut jelly and a mochi egg waffle and those were great. We started picking at the waffle once we left the store since it smelled so good and it was still fresh out of the waffle iron. We also tried to order drinks but then was told we would have to wait a while since he had to run to the back to make the drinks so it would take a long time. I guess it was good that he did warn us but the group after us was looking to order drinks as well and they ultimately ended up leaving. It was a weird scenario. My guess is that unless it's minimal prep it wasn't ideal. Hopefully in the future they're able to handle the incoming flow of business. Parking: lots of parking here in the plaza or there's always street parking on the side streets. read more

The jelly options were okay. We ordered the taro, mango and durian jelly. It felt like the same coconut jelly and then all they do is slap mango, durian or whatever fruit you like on top as the topping. I don't love Melo Melo, but I think it's better than here. We had just got done with lunch at Ai Wei Ju next door, and stumbled onto this place. I had seen coconut jelly become sort of a thing in the past couple years or so, but have never tried it. We got the black sesame ($10) and then an egg waffle ($6 or so, if I remember). Both were delicious, and the egg waffle is made to order. Super fresh, crunchy, and satisfying. And the coconut jelly was refreshing and silky, comes in a cute jar and heavy duty plastic spoons that are clearly reusable. We took all of that home with us - I'm thinking the jar would be great for making overnight oats... They sell jars of the coconut jelly in the ready made food section at HMart. read more

Was super excited that a new coconut dessert spot opened right around the corner of alhambra. As I am a huge fan of melo melo. Coconut jelly king is definitely less sweet compared to melo melo, which I prefer. Food 4/5: The consistency and taste does taste slightly different. I feel like the coconut jelly is a bit more tougher and the coconut taste isn't as strong. The packaging is also super cute and made of real glass. And I'm not sure if it was just my jar I received, but the coconut juice was already coming out of the container and getting all over the bag when I got in my car and wanted to take a picture. So I'm not sure if the staff didn't tighten the container all the way, but it got all over the place. So if they'd fix that, everything else was delicious. Parking 4/5: The place was sort of hard to find since I'm use to parking in the back. There was no sign until I circled around and saw it on valley neighboring to Phoenix. If you're lucky, there's street parking right up front and you can just grabs and go. Ambiance 5/5: Overall the store was super cute and everything looked really clean. This spot reminds me of Melo Melo, but I think it's better. The mango sago was so good, really fresh, and not too sweet. The sago is always a really fun texture too. I also didn't realize it was a drink, the picture on the menu makes it look like it's the coconut jelly snacks in the cute mason jars. I'm not angry about it and it ended up being really good. The drink takes a while too make though since it's not readily available. Overall, really cute interior, the bathroom is kinda gross though, but there is a parking lot! read more

I've been here a few times now and it's always been good every time. There are plenty of parking in the back of the plaza and you can enter through the back. There never really seem to be people there, so there's always seatings :) I've tried a few different jelly and drinks, but my favorite is the durian. They do not skimp out on the durian and I love how fresh and mushy the durian taste. Did I mention the cute spoon? Definitely reusable and can be a pretty cute baby or kids spoon. The decor is also so cute with the Tiffany blue, great for photos. Bubble waffle is also delicious :D not bad for the price, considering boba costs just as much these days. read more

Boba maybe more popular and accessible but I believe coconut jelly will gain more traction once people try it and feel good because it's made from coconut. I really wanted to like this place so I gave it another try. It disappointed me twice. The 2 times I've been there they have ran out of the items I wanted to try. I ended up trying their cocunut jelly among other ones that I can remember and the mango sago. They all tasted old. The mango sago was the best of all in taste but it went bad the next day. It looked horrible that I had to throw it away. The staff were nice though but they speak so low that it was hard to know what they were saying so I kept asking them to repeat themselves. read more

I got this through door dash so can't comment on the service or ambiance but the jelly was hit or miss. It really actually is the flavor with the jelly. The jelly itself is pretty good. Some bites felt a bit more sweet than others but overall pretty good as it wasn't too sweet. Of the three I got, the durian was the best. The combo of the durian and the jelly was a good mix of textures, flavors, and having them separate it as one bite doesn't matter cuz it will still be good. All assuming you like durian of course. The other two, strawberry and taro, were not great. The strawberries made the whole thing too watery and the taro was just off, wrong texture, wrong flavor. I'd stay away from these two. They were around $3.99 and we ordered them because I was with my cheap Asian friend who shall remain anonymous. She felt that they were crispy, sweet, and overall pretty satisfying. There wasn't anyone else in the shop at our time of visit, so the ambiance felt quite nice. It's not a big shop by any means, but it's not small either. They have a cute aesthetic going on with their turquoise blue and Rococo-esque inspired furniture and finishings, which serves the dessert vibes nicely. I've been to melo melo a couple times but when I saw a new spot open up with a similar concept I had to check it out. It's located on Valley across the street from The Hat. There is street parking so I parked on the curb. Not sure if they had a lot. Walked inside and it's a cute little store. They have their menu nice and big and bright as you enter and a cute little logo on the left side of the wall. They generally have them already made in the fridge but we had a couple that were sold out so they had to get them ready in the back. Ordered- double coconut, matcha, red bean, durian, and mango pomelo sago. Came out to be about 43$. Not bad at all seeing that coconut is expensive. Taste wise it was delicious! Saw this new place and wanted to compare it to the other coconut jelly places as this has been getting more popular. Honestly feel like this one's the best out of the places I've tried. Ran into this place on the way to Baccali and knew I wanted to try it. I have seen their other location inside HMart in Arcadia but never tried it. Ordered the Blueberry Coconut Jelly and a Mochi Egg Waffle and they were both delicious. The Ambiance was very calm and they have so many tables and seats to enjoy while you wait or if you don't feel like waiting to get home to eat it. Service was pretty fast. Worker was pretty friendly and we got our coconut jelly and waffle pretty fast. It seems like they use pretty fresh ingredients because even their fruit options are added after you order rather than being prepackaged. Price wise it's on the higher end but definitely worth it for the delicious taste and fresh ingredients. I loved the purple rice coconut jelly I ordered! So good and refreshing, and not overly sweet! The interior is so cute and elegant. I wish I would've ordered more flavors to try.
