So recently we door dashed some dinner to the house for me and the family. When it comes to sushi places my wife and I are super simple, we normally just get chicken teriyaki or Assamese chicken, I know we're simple. Our daughter loves shushi, so we did order a roll. Now before I get to the food, the price was a little higher than we would want to spend, but the AMOUNT of food we got was well worth it. We had the chicken teriyaki that comes with a salad. And I mean a lot of chicken and rice...my daughter got a Dragon Roll. We also ordered some veggie Tempura and also some Soft Shell Crab Tempura. All the food was amazing. We had so much food we ate dinner and then had lunch for the next day. Definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

(Not going to mention names) but one is extreme dirty, and the other is an Americanized roll place. But it's on a Thursday at 7pm and we really didn't want to drive all the way to Elk Grove so just picked Cocoro due to recent reviews complaints seems to be about it's service and not the quality of their fish, and hoped for the best. Holy Moly what a pleasant surprise! The gents who passed us the food at front seemed to be chill and no complaints there. What surprised us is the quality of the fish. They are so freaking fresh like them fishes are still swimming! haha, ok a bit exaggerated but seriously they were some of the freshest Sushi I had. And they also did not skimp out on the portion of the fish. Despite the price are slightly on the higher end. Both the rolls and the Nigiri were good in size, and once again their fishes were fresh. First, the food is amazing and the ambiance is cozy. I eat here once a month at the minimum usually by myself. I took my siblings here last night and the service was mediocre at best. The automatic gratuity which was ridiculous $60 for a party of 5 caused the wait staff not to care at all. The waiter seemed bored and annoyed when we were ordering drinks. We didn't receive the soup/salad on 2 orders and the dirty dishes were not removed until the dessert was served at the end which was slightly overcooked. The wait staff did not deserve the gratuity in the least bit. I would not recommend going in a group. read more

From apps to entrees, Cocoro's food is all around TASTY. Even their edamame and shishito peppers were special - roasted and salted perfectly. It has been 6 years and I decided to go back because they use to have this teriyaki salmon that was so delicious. Well to my surprise the menu was a little different and the food this time was not burnt but definitely not one of my favorite sushi spot. The shrimp tempura that was in the sushi roll was soggy and chewy. The salmon skin hand roll was raw. Usually when I have salmon skin hand roll it's deep fried and crisps. The taste was definitely off. The udon noodle was different, too much tempura batter in it you cannot taste the flavor of the broth. Another thing was we were there at 430 pm before dinner rush and the waiters does not even attempt to clear our empty plates. i had to ask multiple times so we could make room for our other orders. Then when I look around it wasn't just our table it was every table. i guess it isn't a thing that gets done clearing empty plates so it is clear of clutter. i was really disappointed and will not be going back any time soon read more

Came to Stockton for a quick work visit and needed a place to eat but this was not what I expected. One of the best rolls I've ever had. They put the tempura asparagus in an eye catching manner. The roll included asparagus inside. The spice level was perfect; I had it with regular soy sauce no wasabi needed but together it made the perfect bite. This place is an absolute treat, everything was so luxurious from the perfectly balance "Starbucks on crack" espresso martini to the torched wagyu on rice everything we tried was an experience and the server was nothing but sweet. The sushi was well rolled and balanced with amazing flavor combos, the Philadelphia had the vibe of a cucumber sandwich from a spring tea part, containing cucumbers and cream cheese topped with salmon, capers, and red onions. A light and refreshing roll. The El Coco Loco was full of spice and textures with tempura shrimp and asparagus and topped with a melt in your mouth tuna and spicy sauce. The chicken sando was the crunchiest sandwich I've ever eaten and the sauce and chicken was still moist and the furikake fries tasted like toasted sesame and salty potatoes! This review is for March 1st. I had come to eat here last Saturday, two separate times. The first time the wait was an hour, so I came back an hour and a half later, and the wait was then 2 hours, so we left. We came back on a Tuesday night. We waited a long time to get seated, then the table behind us that got seated way after us got their food long before we even got our appetizer. They had multiple plates brought out and we still had no appetizer. Then it took like thirty minutes after we finished one appetizer to get the wrong order. The waitress never came to check on us, probably because she was overwhelmed by the numerous large parties she couldn't manage. The restaurant had a party of 11 on one table, which made the noise level very loud. In the middle of our meal, a super obnoxiously loud party of approximately 25 put 8 tables together and they were acting like they were in a pub, not a restaurant. So I couldn't hear myself think. I speak for the other guests who were visibly bothered by the obnoxious behavior and myself when I say the owner made a bad call allowing that. Any respectable restaurant would have sat a huge party separately so the rest of the guests could still enjoy their meal. The waitress comes as we finish the meal to ask how our food was, I tell her the order was wrong and she forgot my chili oil. She runs off without saying a word, I assumed to grab my chili oil. She never returned to the table at all. We wait another 20 minutes, still nothing. So I go tell the owner we need to go boxes and our check because we waited way too long and we had the wrong order, and it was so loud in there we were not having a good time. She was enjoying wine instead of ensuring the dining experience of her guests, that is a red flag. I'm not opposed to a glass of wine, but when you have patrons telling you the experience is bad and you take no action then it becomes a problem. Ten minutes later we get our check, I immediately hand her my card and I kid you not it takes her another ten to close us out. No offer to discount my meal, no apologies or even courtesy. Horrible service, horrible dining experience. The bill was super high for the service and food we got. I've worked in restaurants myself and I'm extremely forgiving, and I always tip. But the service was so incredibly bad I did not tip. That is a huge statement. This place lost many return guests last night. I'll be sure to give the thumbs down to all my friends and family. read more

It's 11 for the caterpillar roll and 14 for the 3 of a kind roll. The 3 of a kind is so clean tasting. Perfect for the sashimi lovers. The caterpillar is a classic. Although our waiter was quick to take our order and ask us for any appetizers, it took a little over 40 minutes for our food to arrive at our table. I, personally, ordered a chili spider salmon roll. I'm in a rush to pay and leave, tip whatever I thought was fair for the lackluster service (because I too have worked as a server) and come to double check the tab was charged for duplicate rolls I never received. It came out to include 2 Klondike, 2 spicy crunchy scallop, and 2 chili spider salmon. Maybe the staff members got hungry, Tammy sure did say they're a busy restaurant. I used to absolutely love this restaurant and I still think there is hope! If they cut back the menu like 50% then maybe the chef can focus on a making the fewer items much better. I'm ok with a young new staff they are learning and as long as the food arrives and they are friendly I don't need to nit pick. The issue is I got a soft shell crab roll and had to constantly pull crab shell out of my mouth while eating. It was so constant I had to stop eating my roll. The spicy ramen soup was spicy and that was the only flavor. The outdoor street musician saved the meal with his lovely songs. They were very welcoming and told us to not worry about the time because most nights they stay open for at least another hour after closing time. Definitely come as early as you can so you don't have any issues getting servers attention and don't feel rushed. Service was OK. Our waitress refilled our water but aside from that wasn't greatly attentive. When I think of Cocoro it's on the higher end of sushi restaurants in Stockton. You can definitely get better sushi elsewhere, but for the price it's worth it. Living in the bay I forgot how portions differ in Stockton so when i ordered a roll I'm used to only getting 5-6 pieces vs 12. Rolls average $7-14. - Cali roll ($6.5) - what you would expect. It's satisfying for the price and can fill you up. I did feel like the rolls weren't rolled as tightly as they could have been so I found my pieces falling apart once I dipped them in soy sauce. - Sashimi Set A ($12.95) - worth the price for me. You get a nice assortment of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and I forgot the last one. They give you thick pieces but they weren't as melt in your mouth as I remember.
