Delicious boba tea! The bobas were a little overdone but it was my first time there. I don't know if they are always like that. The coconut flavor in the milk tea was simply scrumptious. They have food but I didn't try any. I went specifically for the boba. There is a $5 minimum charge for credit cards so I ended up having to get a little box of Pocky to make the minimum. We have gone to Coco's cafe lots of times, because it's right by my mothers work building and it's a asian place with cheap food. the food is somewhat salty, but it tastes good. Whenever you order food you get complimentary soup, but you have to get it yourself. The last time I was there I ordered the Vegetable soup with Lo Mein and it was HUGE. I could barely drink down the first few inches of soup.The restaurant is small, but the service is nice. This review is solely for the coconut milk tea with boba drink. I ordered a large coconut milk tea with boba and when I received it I shook the supposedly sealed boba drink to make sure the sugars were dispersed. To my dismay, the seal wasn't on tight and liquid was spilling left and right as I shook it making a mess on my clothes and the table. To get right to the point, the taste was not there. It didn't taste like coconut milk tea. It tasted like a tart yogurt drink mixed with milk (there was no tea flavor). Also the tapioca ball itself was not chewy as boba should be. It just squished down and never came back up with one chew. Honestly this was the worst boba drink I have ever had, I ended up tossing it away when it was still nearly full. It cost me $5.27...sigh. I went to the KBOP store a little further down and the large coconut milk tea with boba there cost $4.30 and tasted better. I would say if you were to get boba, go to a different store. read more

This place is slightly pricy for what they offer. Still, for students who have limited choices around campus, I think this place is okay. I got fried tofu with peanut sauce for appetizer and pepper corn chicken with rice for Entree. For dessert, I got milk tea without tapioca. (I'm not a big fan of tapioca). At the suggestion of a co-worker I decided to try out Coco's. I just tried Pho Thaison next door yesterday, so I thought I'd give Cocos a shot. Maybe Taiwanese food isn't for me, or perhaps I ordered the wrong dish but today's meal was not as tasty as I'd hoped. I tried the bacon and rice dish and found it to be meh - it wasn't really bad, it wasn't really good, it just was. Get what I mean? I guess the dish was just not something I could describe as delicious. The meat lacked some flavor, the rice was sweet, the cabbage was spicy and it just didn't work together as one. I may come back to try something else, I see the peppercorn chicken has received high praise. Would I recommend this place? Not for this particular dish, sorry. read more

Love this place as a stop off before heading back to Dallas. They are super fast with the variety of drinks they have on the menu. I had the milk green tea with no bubbles. The other thing I love is the Taiwanese snacks they have too. Some of these things you can't get in dallas and it is very authentic. super friendly service. My only complaint is the seating. You have to be a skinny mini to get through the rows if you need to sit on the inside. read more

My 13 year old son took me here because he rides from the BMX park to get the smoothies. We ate lunch here but I was not impressed at all. I have had Taiwanese food all over the country and this just didn't cut it for me. I thought the food was really under seasoned and bland. We had the rice and pepper steak, egg rolls, and rice and fried chicken. The pepper steak did not have any seaoning and the fried chicken was thin strips of chicken fried. It did not have sauce or a dipping sauce with it. The egg rolls were tiny and not all that great. They had more wrapping then filling. Parking is a nightmare and tow signs are EVERYWHERE so beware if you drive. My son and I parked at Mcdonald's and prayed we didn't get towed. The drinks were good and that is why I am giving it 3 stars. My son had the strawberry/banana shake and I had Thai tea. Both were really good. The sevice was also good but I did not like that they brought out my dish and my son had to wait another 10 minutes for his dish. I would come back for the drinks but not the food. read more

The boba here is pretty solid, everything tastes great and a lot of refreshing options. I've had iced coffee, milk tea and lychee tea and all of them were great. I havent tried the food yet but pricing is pretty reasonable, I'll update this review once I try the food, but for now, cocos is a go to on Guadalupe street! read more

After reading the other reviews I felt that it was a must for me to come here. First, let me start of by saying the customer service was great and the place was surprisingly very clean. I ordered the Sa Cha Beef Lo Mein and a strawberry banana smoothie. I absolutely loved the smoothie, it was smooth and full of flavor so that got all five stars from me. However, the Sa Cha Beef Lo Mein was absolutely disgusting!! I knew it was going to be nasty based on the smell alone...can someone say dog poop!!! Wow, I have never eaten something so repulsive!! Though I do have to say, if you are used to eating Taiwanese food this my be considered good to you. But for a newbie like myself, this was not a very good experience! read more

I like my taro milk tea pretty sweet and creamy.. meaning heavier on the milk and lighter on the bitter black tea. so after I received my order, tasted it, and decided I wasn't a complete fan of their recipe ratio.. I asked for a modification. they "fixed" it but not before addressing me in a rude/patronizing way. the associate also didn't reseal my cup properly and put an ill-fitting plastic lid on top which caused the purple drink to leak on me. it's a pretty small shop, uncomfortable to sit in when the place is busy, and due to the subpar product and the subpar service, I had no desire to sit very long. the only thing I did enjoy was their tapioca.. it was the ideal texture jelly/sweetness and of a medium size (not quite full size but not the mini pearls either). read more

I didn't get to try the boba so this is just based on food. I would have given the food a 4/5 if I had not tried the popcorn chicken. To me, popcorn chicken is like french fries at a burger place. Bad fries can ruin the experience. Coco's popcorn chicken is bland and the sauces aren't good enough to make up for it. The places in LA that I'm used to always had awesome popcorn chicken batter/seasoning. I also tried the beef noodle soup. This was a lot better and very flavorful. The noodles were fresh and the cut of the meat was authentic. The soup itself was a 4/5. Next time I need to try the milk tea. The quality of the milk tea makes it or breaks it for me. read more

The 4 star rating is only for the quality of the drinks and the peppercorn chicken plate. I love that they use both powder and real fruits in their drinks, unlike Tap House next door. Great place if you're Taiwanese and craves Taiwanese food, not a lot to be found in Austin... However compared to Taiwan the food is just bad. I got the meat ball and the meat is too lean so it doesn't taste right... I could do better going to a Chinese market in Houston or N. Austin and buying pre made meat balls. The fact that it's over 5 bucks only made it worse (in Taiwan you get great meat balls, and stinky tofu plus shaved ice for 3 dollars total). Come if you want your fix for Taiwanese food, but otherwise even Houston has better places. read more

Correction...I drive all the way from SOUTH Austin just for their bubble tea, Its that amazing The staff here are extremely nice, friendly and dont mind a very indecisive customer cause they are more than happy to give a helpful suggestion. I stick to what I know and always get the Honeydew smoothie. I know, its mostly just powder, ice, a grinder and bam. Easy, right? WRONG!!! Coco's makes their smoothies with the perfect balance of ice, powder, milk and 2 heaping spoonfuls of warm bubble jellys at the bottom! So here's the thing about Coco's...it has been around for a while and I still really like this place. Their drinks are always consistently good and they are good at getting out drinks fast. With that being said, I have a couple of gripes about their food. The prices keep rising which is understandable, but at the same time the portion sizes are a lot smaller. I LOVE their peppercorn chicken. It's probably, scratch that, it IS the best thing on their menu and they used to give you a large heaping amount of chicken and rice in one order but I noticed that the last time I went I actually finished my order and I have never been able to finish my order all at once. All in all I still guess it's pretty good for what you pay for, but my belly wants more chicken. read more

i love the bubble tea here with big loopy hearts, although the quality can be a bit inconsistent. my standard is the green tea latte with soy. they blend it all up and put some tapioca balls in the bottom. one time, the tapioca balls were hot. like, heat hot, which melted my latte prematurely and weirded me out. other than that, this place is my favorite place for bubble tea, having tried momoko's and central market several times. as an added plus, they have a glass case full of hoochie jewelry you can ogle while they make your latte. read more

Even in the very 'diverse' city of Austin, authentic Chinese (or Taiwanese in this case) food can still be rather difficult to find. Coco's hits the spot when you're craving a fried pork chop with steamed rice. Another way to spot it's authenticity is the self-serve soup and ice water.
