I visited on National Oyster Day after being told they served White Stone Oysters, but that was not my experience. I arrived around 3:00 p.m. and waited more than five minutes to be seated. Since no employee was on the floor, I eventually grabbed a menu and seated myself. It appeared that one employee was handling everything, and to her credit, she apologized for the delay. I ordered a dozen oysters, and many were badly mangled during shucking. Unfortunately, they had very little flavor and were among the most disappointing oysters I've had. Based on the taste and quality, I told the server they definitely were not the White Stone Oysters I was expecting. I got the clam strip basket with sautéed vegetables--same side I had the night before because they were that good. The vegetables are crisp and vibrant, not mushy or overcooked like you sometimes get elsewhere. I also had a cup of clam chowder that was thick, creamy, and packed with flavor. This is a really good seafood spot in the area, there are a few other local places that have really good, high end seafood but this is the only casual, laidback seafood "dive" (meaning dive in a good way). The menu is a bit small but everything is delicious and they always have daily specials giving you new options. My favorites are their lobster rolls and the fried clams and if you have room for dessert, I recommend the key lime pie. The service here is always friendly and usually good but I strongly suggest checking your to-go orders before leaving. The lobster roll was so small my husband ended up eating off my parents' shrimp baskets to get enough for dinner and only 5 crab balls for an appetizer at $12.99 is honestly outrageous. The fried shrimp portions on the baskets were huge and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The shrimp and grits were alright, the gravy didn't really have any flavor and overall was kind of plain. Shuckin shack is a go to when I'm in cumming! My dad and I always go on Wednesday for half off oysters and always have the best time. Recently, we tried the Parmesan oysters and they were fantastic. Solid craft beer list along with others you'd want on tap - ie. Guinness, Octoberfest, BlueMoon & most usual suspects. Having lived in FL I can get picky on Grouper. As a New Englander, I have to agree with another reviewer here, the food is just okay. My kids love raw oysters, but they're 6 and 10, so I don't want to take them to Decatur's Kimball House for $4 oysters. Unfortunately, despite having both "oysters" and "shuckin'" in their restaurant name, they're not good at shuckin' oysters. Lots of broken shell pieces in their raw oysters, making the experience of eating two dozen rather unappetizing. I know it's cheap ($1.25 during their Saturday event), but it's not worth it. Someone with practice should be able to shuck without pieces and grit getting in, especially at a place that specializes in oysters. Worried about what I read regarding the chowder. They do have fried pickle SPEARS, which is a nice variation. read more

We came here for Fathers Day (6/18/23) and had a wonderful experience! I didn't feel like our server was particularly helpful or extraordinary but she got the job done. We started with an oyster shooter that was spicy and delicious! We ordered a half dozen raw oysters and the combo (dip, shrimp and calamari) everything tasted wonderful. A few people ordered the "special" which was supposed to be a blackened grouper sandwich which while tasty was very obviously not grouper. Solid seafood place here. It's a little small inside, but it's laid out nice, it's clean and not too terribly loud. It has a good size bar as well, which I noticed a lot of people taking advantage of. Service was very attentive, and the knowledge of the specials was very very good. Raw oysters were excellent, and the boiled shrimp were very good as well. A few things to note, the wings here do not come split. So they are one piece, the drumstick and the flat are together with the tip. Doesn't bother me, but I have only noticed that at Hooters before. They also had the wing seasoning on the side for my son's wings, I don't know if that's normal or if he made a mistake when he ordered them, but I didn't think that was a little odd. First visit and had a fantastic sandwich! Got a shrimp Po boy and it was loaded with fried shrimp on a fresh grilled baguette with lettuce & tomato and a remoulade sauce on the side. It was a big sandwich and very tasty. The sandwich comes with a side and I chose to go with the hush puppies and they were also awesome! This location is in a strip plaza. It has a fair amount of parking. The restaurant also has some outdoor seating that's fenced in. They have a full bar with a handful of craft beers. I was in the mood for some chargrilled oysters and did not want to drive all the way down to FL. This place has been around the corner from where I stay at and I always wanted to try it out. It's sorta hidden from the main roadway of Peachtree Pkwy and you will need to look behind Starbucks for it. There is plenty of parking. I was seated right away as I came during early affernoon. I didn't see a price listed on the chargrilled oysters but was told they were $27.99. Alittle pricey but I was here just for the oysters. I asked for both flavors of the : Jalepeno cheddar and Parmesan garlic. Both were topped with garlic. When they came out they were smaller than expected but then again my last oysters were in FL so it was an unfair comparison. The cheese and bacon could of been piled on alittle more and one more lemon would of been good. It did come out with some crackers. I did enjoy the oysters as they were quite tasty! For my entree, I decided to get the Cape Fear Nacho as I am always a huge nachos fan. Boy I was in for a surprise!! Supposedly it came with the option of fish or shrimp. I chose grilled shrimp. It also came with white queso (very little), jalepeno, sour cream(very little), and some sauce. I been dining out for a while now, and I got to say this was the worse nachos I have ever tasted. I could of made better ones myself. I barely saw any sour cream as well. Not sure where the queso was but there was barely at. I did see the special sauce. The shrimp was not grilled and looked like $10 tiny frozen shrimp from krogers that were microwaved. I hate giving bad review on food but I think this is one of the first time that I really hated what I ordered because it tasted horrible and truely sucked. Nothing against the cook but the nachos need some help. First, include side of salsa, actually grill the shrimp, put a lot of cheese on it and let it melt, include some bacon over it, put the sour cream on the side in a bowl, queso as well, and etc. I had to dip the chips in ketchup and cocktail sauce so I can actually eat it. The queso was extremely salty as well. As far as for my date's entree. She ordered the Swing Fridge (shrimp burger). I tasted it and wasn't sure what I was eating. The fried pattie didn't taste like shrimp. Maybe it was a huge imitation shrimp pattie? It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. I mean it was like eating a veggie burger pattie and trying to figure on what's inside it. The side of potatoes and sausage was okay as I threw more of the red seasoning on the table and dipped it in cocktail sauce. One of the best parts of the meal was the coleslaw. I did enjoy the coleslaw very much! The service was great here and super friendly. I believe this place has potential but may need some fixing on some of the food on the menu. I gave this place a 4 star review as I never try to mess up a restaurant's rating. If you do decide to come here, just make sure you stay away from the Cape Fear Nachos and The Swing Fridge (Shrimp Burger). I am hoping next time I will try something else that will be better or I will just stick to my tiny chargrilled Oysters :) read more

Wish I'd posted earlier because I wanted to give a shout out to our server for her recommendations! We started with fried clams as an appetizer. They were hot well flavored and loved the aioli served with them. I had the special which was blackened redfish. Nice portion of food so I had plenty for another meal. My friend got fish and chips and said she was bringing her husband back over the weekend!! I would recommend and live it because it does remind me of many of the fish houses on the southern coast. This is a great local spot in an area where I am quarantining with family during Covid, in Cumming GA. It is a seafood restaurant that features specials all week, however, we only come on Wednesdays for $1 Oysters. The Oysters are very fresh farmed North point Oysters from the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. They are very consistent, excellent quality, with a mushroom like aftertaste with minimal salinity. I have ordered 2 dozen each time, each of the 5 time's I've come. The oyster shooters are excellent, as well as the bloody Mary's I have each visit. Staff is very nice, recognize the family, and are very hospitable. We sit out side (because it's a friggin stupid pandemic) on a beautiful patio with great TV's for sports! There are big fans for got summer and good circulation. The inside is nice if you're brave enough to indoor dine during a pandemic, 4+ more TV's for Sports. We've had a lobster roll, very good, a Buffalo shrimp wrap that was good, and fried pickles etc. I highly recommend the oysters that are shipped in a few times a week. The owner of this chain (N. My husband and I were really looking forward to dining here based on the reviews. We are New England transplants. Both of us have lived in the Atlanta area for about 30 years now. The place is small but has a fun vibe. Except there was only one person handling the house. Michelle was the hostess, server, food runner and bar tender. She did an amazing job. However, there is only so much one person can do. The food... sadly was mediocre. We really wanted it to be great. Michelle offered us a taste (literally a spoonful) of chowder. If you know and love New England clam chowder, this is not chowder by definition. It was missing the hearty depths of flavors; butter, cream, potatoes and clams. It had no clams in our spoon tasting, no potatoes, no essence of butter or even cream. It was thick, the lemon (which doesn't go with clam chowder) was overly done and the spice was off putting. There was a flavor of bacon bits to the gelatinous mess, but real bacon should be an accent and crumbled on top if at all. We were asked if we liked it and our response was honest. We said it wasn't what we expected. She was shocked, our opinion wasn't received well. We ordered a dozen steamers, they were little necks. Steamers are cooked as soon as they are open. They don't need to be over steamed. Little necks don't have much to them. These were not soaked in cornmeal, they were gritty, rubbery and tasted like seaweed. The drawn butter was the saving grace. We ordered a grouper sandwich and a shrimp po boy. They were big sandwiches but the flavor was missing. No spice in the breading. The remoulade sauce was missing spice. The sandwiches came with slaw. It was a condiment cup of slaw the same size as the remoulade and tartar sauce. Needless to say... we were so disappointed. We wanted to love it. We hardly liked it. A dozen Steamers, two sandwiches and two coca colas was $70. I wish the food was worth it. read more

It looks most of the low ratings were due to some issues around the time they opened, this is my first time here and it's about a year later. I have to say I was very happy with my first experience. I was googling "lobster roll" and was surprised to see this place was so close by, so I had to go check it out. I ordered the lobster roll the cold with mayo way (vs hot with butter) and loved it. I thought the flavors were great, the lobster was cooked perfectly, and the seasoning in the mix was on point. Bonus points for having a wrap called the 716, which as a Buffalo native made me intrigued and skeptical . So I ordered that too just to see what they did. I asked for chicken and blue cheese instead of ranch. It was actually really good! The hot sauce was a little tame, but the flavor was definitely there. And the ratio of tomato, lettuce, cheese, blue cheese to the chicken was spot on, and the tortilla had a great crispness from being grilled on the bottom. This wrap gets the Buffalo stamp of approval which is saying a lot. Now if I can only find a Chicken Finger Sub shop down here! That would make my dreams come true. And maybe a Picasso's, Mighty Taco, and Ted's. Then all my dreams would be addressed. For drinks my husband got draft beer and I got the painkiller due to them not having the sangria available. It was delicious and refreshing. Food: We got the crab dip and oysters for appetizers. I'm not an oyster fan but my husband enjoyed them. The crab dip was okay, it was lacking in crab in my opinion. For our entree my husband got a lobster roll which he loved and said he'd get again and again. I got 1lb of crab legs which was market price at $50. I'm okay with paying market price but the crab was definitely not worth that much. The crab was a bit dry and not hot. I don't expect the worlds best crab legs in GA but the price should reflect that. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The decor inside makes you feel like you are on the coast, which I loved. We were staying in Cumming, Ga Lake Lanier for a few days. Found this restaurant in yelp so we went, about 10 mins drive from our airbnb. Well, our waitress is nice and knows what she's doing. I also ordered their oyster shooter which was really good. The oysters tastes really fresh. The appetizers are good also. The sweet and sour dip for the calamari is different. Reminds me of eating lumpia lol but i preferred using malt vinegar instead to cut down the fried food taste in my pallate. We also ordered wings to go for our lunch the next day so we dont have to go anywhere. The wings were fried to perfection and was still good the next day after putting it in the oven 400 degrees for x amount of time. Will def come back if we're around. read more

You know crab legs are on point when they are delicious without butter (for 0 weight watchers points ). The shells cracked perfectly allowing large pieces of meat to be easily pulled out. I will definitely return when I am not counting points to dip them in butter. read more
