There's no lack of taco stands in Gardena (they're great) but it's sooooo nice to have a sit down restaurant offering great tacos, tortas, mulitas, burritos, etc in our community. Coco's Tacos is a small family-owned restaurant that makes homemade tortillas! The restaurant is small but can easily accommodate a family or party of two--my friend and I sat at a two-top easily. The service is really casual, what you want and expect from a family-owned place but you never feel ignored. Your order is taken, the food is brought out, and then you get checked on a few times but really are left alone to enjoy! I love this type of vibe from family restaurants. You get chips and salsa when you first sit down, and I'm pretty sure the chips are from their homemade tortillas, super amazing! I got a shrimp taco, a chorizo taco, and a carnitas mulita. My friend got the Alambre which comes with three tacos: asada, al pastor, and chorizo along with a side of rice and beans. I got the last of the horchata and he ordered the jamaica. Everything was so so good; flavorful, meat was tender and well seasoned, and those homemade tortillas! I can't wait to go back. Two things to know--the restaurant is in the Republic Plaza which gets pretty packed, I don't think I've ever known this parking lot to be empty. So be prepared to have to find street parking and/or wait, circle around especially on the weekends. Coco's takes debit/credit card for payments but you'll be charged for the cost and don't need to sign the receipt which means you can't add in a tip. So, bring cash for a tip!

The ambiance can looks not so great but I can promise the food will change your perception of this restaurant. Nice service and delicious food. Handmade tortillas just give the plus

I was in the area so it was either Yoshinoya or Coco's and I decided to go to Coco's tacos. I wind up going to Coco's tacos and I must say it was a better choice. I ordered two El Pastore and two Carne Asada tacos and I gotta tell you they were just packed with meat. The taco shells look like they were fresh everything was fresh. The food was very delicious 10 out of 10 and I definitely would go back again. I highly recommend this place to anyone that's looking for some good tacos. The customer service was fantastic as well you walk in and you're immediately greeted.

A little hole in the wall restaurant is always the way to go. This place came out on my FYP on TikTok and decided to come try it out ! It definitely did not disappoint. It's a family owned restaurant and all members were very pleasant and friendly. We started off with some chips and salsa, the chips were freshly made and paired perfectly with the salsa(not spicy) . I ordered 3 tacos, 2 asada and 1 al pastor. Portion size was great and generous and perfectly made of handmade tortillas! Chef kiss! I got full with 2 ! My husband ordered a Menudo also paired with handmade tortillas! Ver delicious and generous amount. My son ordered 2 tacos de cabeza and said it was very juicy! Highlight their cebolla and cilantro is very finely chopped ! To drink we had their Jamaica and was also very tasty! 10/10 for presentation and authentic taste. We're definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu! Looking forward to trying the Mole Plate and Wet burrito!

Coco's tacos is AMAZING. They serve the best tacos ever here. My favorite is their al pastor tacos. It's juicy and generous with the portions of meat per taco. I love loads of onions and cilantro on my tacos, so I always ask if I can have some on the side. They pack it in small baggies for you. Their salsa roja is genuinely really spicy. So be warned beforehand. I am someone who can handle a decent amount of heat. What I love about their salsa roja is that the spice doesn't take away from the flavor of the salsa at all. There are some spicy that just makes the sauce gross, but this one is 10/10!! They are a small family ran establishment and it's really cozy and quaint. They are always very polite and nice when we go there.

Authentic street tacos... reminds me of DTLA, I was pleasantly surprised to find a spot like this in South Bay! Not overly greasy or salty, good portion size and handmade fresh corn tortillas!! I had the sope with homemade crust and fresh carne asada. Not salty and the cream, beans and lettuce made it even tastier. Also had a carnitas taco and a lengua (tong) taco both were very tasty with homemade tortillas l. I will come back when I'm at the area again! Happy to recommend. read more

You know in the movies when robbers take over a store and try to fool incoming customers into thinking it's business as usual while the real employees/cooks are locked in the back freezer room? Well if the 25 other reviews are authentic, maybe that's what happened the time I visited. My al pastor pork taco tasted of nothing but pig. No spice, no citrus, no onion. Nothing. My carne asada tasted piggy too. Not delicious and bacon-y the way some of the trucks serve it, but just piggy. Why? The green and red salsas were salt and flavor-free. Pretty much like eating green and red paint. Even plain ground peppers, water and salt in a blender would have been acceptable. But no. Fix this. read more

So happy this cute little spot exists! We were craving street tacos and couldn't find any in our area so we came here and got lengua (beef tongue), asada & al pastor tacos with chips and salsa, and omg delicious! You could tell their tortillas are fresh. It was all so good that we inhaled it and forgot to take pictures. Can't wait to be back to try their other items!! read more

We got take out from here last night since we were craving Mexican food, and this place did not disappoint! Fish and shrimp tacos tasted fresh and succulent, Birria tacos were juicy and flavorful, and the carne asada taco/burrito were just the right amount of charred flavor. The chips, cucumbers, radish, and lime packaged nicely on the side were great additions. The portions were so generous and they definitely do not skimp on the meat. Both red salsas were our favorite. We will be back to try more things on the menu - another new gem in Gardena! read more

Probably the most authentic Mexican food I have had in awhile. The handmade tortillas are what make everything so delicious from the tacos to mulitas. Tortillas are good. Tacos are otherwise decent.... But why on earth are they putting beans in their al pastor tacos? That definitely isn't normal. My theory is that they're adding the beans as a filler. I understand if the price of ingredients are more expensive due to supply chain issues, but mixing in beans as filler in an al pastor taco thinking that customers won't notice is just... wrong. It's mixed in enough that you can't see it visually, but you can undoubtedly taste that it's there (beans kind of ruined the taste tbh). Other photos of al pastor from customers taken in the past look different from mine; this must be a recent change. I hate having to write this because I know that times are tough for restaurants. But if the price of pork is prohibitively expensive, just change the price or take it off the menu temporarily, rather than lowering your standards. Don't be deceptive. read more

Homemade tortillas in Gardena! This place took over Ladybugs restaurant on Redondo Beach Bl. It definitely was worth the parking hunt in there busy lot. I ordered carne asada, al pastor, fish and chorizo tacos. Wow! it was awesome and it was delicious. It came with homemade tortilla chips and salsa that was crispy and just right. Love Coco's! It's my go to taco place now. Please don't go so I can get a parking space though! read more

This place is a hidden gem in Gardena! I am from Torrance and usually have to drive to LA for some authentic tacos but I no longer have to drive far. Cocos tacos are amazing. Your employees need to fix their attitude . Teach them some basic manners and how to treat customers . I tried this place based on a party I went too. They catered from your restaurant and it was okay I thought I would give it another try . When I showed up here the environment felt so terrible and unwelcoming. everything seemed to bother the lady in the front taking orders. She Kept rolling her eyes for everything and giving attitude . The food tasted disgusting and so did the horchata . The horchata tasted like powder and had a bunch of chunks at the bottom. I will never come here again it's not worth one penny for anyone thinking about trying it . read more

You know, I'm really into al pastor burritos right now, and I've tried a bunch of places--restaurants, taco trucks and such, but the best al pastor burrito in the South Bay is at Coco's Tacos in Gardena. I used to live in Redondo Beach and that was true, and now that I live in Hawthorne, it's still true. I don't even order it with cheese--it doesn't need it. Parking was easy as they have their own lot. Water is self serve. The bathroom does require a key from the front.

I can't help but compare this spot to Wahoo's Fish Grill, which I enjoy much more overall in terms of flavor and consistency. That said, the food here was okay, just not memorable for me. I may try something different if I come back, but based on this visit, it didn't quite hit the mark.

I topped them with cilantro and onions, which you get at their self serve station. The tacos were delicious. The service was nice and quick as usual. I was a little disappointed with my experience this time around. They didn't have the pina agua fresca that I usually order with my food. Also, the truck was parked right in front of the car wash (it used to be parked in front of the gas station). The car wash was so noisy that it was difficult to order the food. That being said, I'll continue to come back to this place when I get a craving for good carnitas tacos. Where they can park is probably out of their control.

It was super soft and fatty and ended with a heavy pleasant fishy flavor. The miso grilled cod was great. Not much to say about it was almost creamy and the miso was good. I ate the skin too and it tasted great. The main part of this place is the soba. The kikouchi soba are thicker 100% buckwheat noodles that were very well cooked and pleasant to eat. The Plum "Ume" broth was so refreshing and nice. I ate it cold; I probably would have preferred it hot but the is just a personal preference. The Ginger Pork was great. The pork itself was super gingery without being too pungent. The shredded cabbage was super easy to pick up and eat and the side of noodle salad and miso soup were great complements to the meal. I can tell no corners were cut anywhere and that Otafuku puts a little of effort into every meal they prepare. There is great care for all of the preparations and it was a very special meal.
