The service wasn't that great. There was only one large table and they were almost finished but it took forever for someone to take our order. And not only that, she never took our drink order and she disappeared so we couldn't even get her attention so that we could actually order a drink, so my husband had to walk up to the bar and request drinks. It felt very nickel and dimey too. Who charges for chips and salsa? Oh. This place does! $12!!! ‍ Never been to a Mexican restaurant that actually charges for chips and salsa while sitting in the restaurant. For 2 orders of tacos, sodas and chips with salsa, guacamole and cheese dip that tasted like it was straight out of a can, our bill was over $80! Went in solo for a quick lunch. Lots of staff all super friendly! Ordered the street corn app (don't sleep on this one!). Almost skipped it because of the $12 price tag while dining solo but SO glad I didn't. Large portion, took some home for dinner! Original chicken tacos (came with 3 to an order) were perfectly portioned with pico, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a tasty chipotle aioli. Of course..."when in Rome"...had to get a coconut margarita! The food was really good. We had chips and guac, enchiladas, street tacos and a burrito bowl. All was very tasty but the special my daughter ordered was very spicy. The service was poor. We weren't given utensils until we asked after we had already eaten chips/guac (no plates were given for that). Water was not refilled without us asking. Our waitress was nowhere to be found for a while. The wait for our food was much longer than expected. We did not order dessert because of this. We were there on a Sunday evening and were seated at approximately 7:30. Many tables emptied while we were there so I was surprised at the wait for the food. We asked for a second order of chips due to the long wait which was nicely comped for us (though we didn't ask for comp). My wife and I had dinner here tonight after watching a movie in downtown Chatham. After a couple of nights of expensive seafood dinners Mexican food sounded like a good option. The staff was friendly and the food was very fresh and very tasty. My wife had the chicken taquitos and I had the classic tacos (flour tortillas) with fried cod. My wife's dinner was a little too spicy for her but since I got 3 tacos for dinner, I shared them with her. We both agreed the fish tacos were excellent and I enjoyed what was left of her dinner. The whole restaurant had a nice vibe and the noise level was low enough for easy conversation while we listened to Mexican music. read more

My second visit and much has improved. My tacos were excellent, service was also excellent. We confused the our waitress with our own mix up- but she was patient and straightened it all out for us. We sat outside because one of our friends has a hearing problem and indoors would have been too difficult for her. It was a cool evening, so it was perfect. We just had water and one glass of Chardonnay, which was a good pour and a fair price. We all ordered different items and we were very pleased with the tasty and well presented food. Lots of families were there , but I don't know what the kids options are. It's a little crowded for a stroller, but the staff worked hard at setting up a party, indoors, with a big stroller and parents putting in their drink orders. We will return. read more

If there are 2-4 in your party, I'd try to sit at the bar, and if there are more of you, this is not a great choice for larger groups/families of 4+. If you're at the bar, you order from the bartender, otherwise you'd be ordering at a counter and seating yourself. The menu is very basic and straight forward, with few variations on the ingredients and salsas/sauces, etc. If you like more unique options, Dogfish Taco is a great alternative. The vibe of Codo feels more like an express restaurant, not meant to be a particularly social place. If you're looking for a quick meal, this is definitely an option. I don't have the strongest recommendation on the food yet, but I've only tried the carnitas tacos, so, I look forward to trying more from the menu. read more

Went in Friday of Labor Day weekend - we were so pleased that the servers and bar staff(shout out to Jill!) were so pleasant on such a busy weekend! The meal came out fast- how do they do it? The codfish bowl was fresh and plentiful, the margarita was a perfect balance of sweet(I ordered strawberry) and a little salty! I'm always surprised at the quality ingredients and the fast service! 1000% recommend this place. Today was our first time visiting, and I can enthusiastically say that we will be back many more times. Not only was the food delicious, it was fast, casual, and very easy to navigate with our children (all under 3). Talk about a great gem located just shy of downtown Chatham. We ordered four different things and everything was really bland. The guacamole is smooth and flavorless like it came from a jar and portion is tiny. Chipotle has way more flavor and I don't even particularly like Chipotle... I'm sad because we could use a good Mexican spot in Chatham. Staff seemed very nice. read more

All the food looks and tastes as if it came out of a freezer. The guacamole was clearly not made fresh. The Mexican street corn was served in a bowl-not fresh. The corn kernels were brown and collapsed. They look like they came from a can. The rice must have been instant. The food came out within moments of us sitting down so clearly was not made specially for us. This place was a complete disappointment. There was nothing fresh about the food. Even the tortilla chips that were advertised as being house made appeared to come out of a bag from the supermarket. My dining partner says that this looks like a good place for families with kids who want quick service, to get in and get out, and not super discerning about the flavor or quality of the food. read more

We were excited to try a new place in Chatham. Sadly, our meal was very disappointing. For the price of the meals, it wasn't worth the amount of food we got. For 2 margaritas, a carnitas bowl, a cheese quesadilla,and a burrito was $85! We also ordered separately chips and guac. The chips were cold and the guac was definitely not homemade... it tasted like the guac you buy in the grocery store. The portions were quite small for the price. The burrito was smaller than What you would get at a Chipotle. The burrito bowl was also small for the price. The margaritas were not good... all you could taste was the tequila and not the fruit flavor. We also did not like that we were being asked to tip on a walk up counter service. I placed a special order salad and my husband ordered the tacos. The waiter took our food to guests on the outdoor patio we could see from our seats from inside. The man took my salad and started eating it but the tacos were sent back to the kitchen. Then we could hear someone saying that wasn't their food. The waiter went outside and took the salad that the guy was eating and brought it back in and tried to give it to me. When we told him we had seen the man eating the salad he didn't even try to deny it! Then they gave me a new salad and I think it was the one the other guy ordered because it had beans on it. They did end up giving me a "new" salad. (I hope) Then the manager said they would comp the bill but didn't give back the tip. Came in for lunch and got the chicken burrito it was delicious. When I looked at the menu I thought it was expensive but when it came out I understood because it was a great sized portion. Definitely give this place a try! We had the beef barbacoa, fire chicken, and pork carnitas street tacos and they were all good, but the carnitas especially were delicious. Food portions were good size, would prefer that when ordering tacos or taco salad it would come with the meats, instead of an upgrade. Delicious fresh Mexican with Cali vibes. The food comes out of the kitchen fast, even when restaurant is full. I've been several times and the food has been consistent, which is something I appreciate. My favorite so far is the crispy beef nachos. Tourists will probably like this new restaurant. Residents of Chatham, where the median age is 67.4 years, will be less than thrilled by loud, rhythmic music with a heavy bass. Don't expect to talk with anyone in your party. Inside the restaurant, tables and chairs are designed not to be too comfortable, and you will not want to linger. Eat and out. So much for the vibe. Food is good. My group of four tried different menu items and were mostly pleased, though you won't find much shrimp in the bbq shrimp taco. The chips and salsa appetizer (the days of free salsa/chips have disappeared forever) is also good, but with a group of four, some individual plates would be nice. We asked for them, server agreed; we never got them. A soda is not served with a glass or ice. Fewer dishes to wash? Wine won't show up in a wine glass. Tourists and their children will not care that much. So, if you actually live here in Chatham or nearby, you have a new take-out taco place. read more
