We had such a positive experience with this company today. I contacted the company for our fireplace to be repaired. They responded right away and scheduled an appointment the same day. Our technician was Matt P. He was prompt, professional and very knowledgeable. He diagnosed the issue right away, gave us a quote for the cost of repair and did a fabulous job. Our fireplace works perfectly and looks the best it has ever looked. He adjusted the flame and cleaned the entire fireplace both inside and out. Cody' has always treated me fairly, done excellent work, and rescued my sorry posterior side. Yes, I got estimates on rebuilding my SubZero, as I cannot afford to purchase a new one. This one was purchased in 1986, and has run like a champ. John did great work, and i was proud of his workmanship. His cost was far below others and quality of work was far above others. They have always been good people to me, and to everyone i have referred them to they have been good people, and done excellent work that is to be proud of. I had put up with a noisy refrigerator long enough, so I called to see if Cody's could diagnose the problem and put and end to it. After opening the back and acting busy for awhile, I was told it was probably something to do with the refrigerant having difficulty passing through certain spots. I was told there was no repair possible short of replacing main parts which would cost more than a new refrigerator. The recommended course of action was for me to move the refrigerator to the garage and buy a new one (this side-by-side Frigidaire was only 4 years old) I paid $89 for that shameless insult. So, basically "I can only guess what the problem is, I can't fix it, that'll be $89". read more

We needed our gas fireplace serviced. I read reviews for Cody's Appliance Repair and decided to call for information. The woman who answered the call was very friendly and professional. She took the time to allow me to explain the problem and she also explained what the service call would entail. She was able to get me a service person the same day! The service person called before arriving, which was very helpful. Gabriel F arrived on time and after a friendly introduction, he covered his shoes with paper booties and began to investigate the fireplace. After trouble shooting the mechanism he tested the switch and found the problem. He even took the time to teach me the proper way to start the fireplace each fall. He then cleaned up his work area. Gabriel examined the outdoor vent per my request and advised me to remove a bush that was butting up against the vent. I cut it down the minute he left with plans to remove it in short order. Gabrielle was wonderful! He called ahead, was timely and professional. We called because our dishwasher had been leaking. Before he arrived, my husband did a thorough deep clean of the appliance and was able to finally get it to a point where it no longer leaked; however, we still wanted an expert's opinion. The call center help desk was very helpful. The repair technician was knowledgeable and responsive to our questions. Their billing process and methodology was upfront and very reasonable. My one concern was with scheduling the follow up visit. Technician said they would call to schedule the following day, however no one called. We called and the appointment was set without our input for a day later than stated by the technician. The phone rep updated the appointment but it was still concerning that no one called. The tech came by and he quickly did what he said he would. Everything is working. He did leave his card and told us he would come by again if the issue came up again. I called Monday about a problem I was having with my refrigerator and the earliest they could have someone come out was Wednesday afternoon. They gave me a time between 3 & 6. I got a reminder email message Tuesday, and Wednesday morning I got a call saying there was a cancellation and they could schedule me between 2 & 5. A little after 2 I got a call saying they would be here in ten minutes. They found the problem after five minutes, explained what they would do to fix it and told me the cost. After about 30 minutes the problem was fixed and they were on their way. Highly recommend Cody's. read more

After reading other reviews, I decided to call Cody's Appliance Repair. We had the bad timing of our Bosch washer stop working the night of December 23. Cody's was closed Christmas Eve but the voicemail message said our call would be returned December 27. True to their word, I got a call that morning. We made an appointment for the afternoon of December 28. The technician, Robert, called within the promised window and promptly arrived. He quickly took care of the problem and was finished in less than an hour. We will definitely call Cody's any time we need service on our appliances. Thanks and Happy New Year! read more

Not only are they a family run business (something I always like to support), but they are undeniably the best appliance repair company in Boise (probably in all of the Pacific Northwest). Matt P. came to repair our non-working dishwasher and found the main control panel (expensive) needed to be replaced. He recommended that because of the age of the dishwasher that it would make more sense to get a new dishwasher instead of repairing the one we have. Gabriel arrived and was all business. Within moments he had diagnosed the problem with out dryer. He carefully dismantled it until reaching the offending part, replaced said part and performed additional cleaning as he reassembled the machine. His original quote was for a new heater assembly. When he checked the components, it turned out to simply be an overload switch (a reduction of about 100 dollars). I am very pleased with the professionalism and the timing of the service. read more

Cody's was super professional. I had a 'dud' motor in my 15 month old dryer so I wasn't happy at all about that - but it wasn't Cody's fault. The technician talked me through his tests, and gave me the right amount of space to think through options. The new motor was installed within a week and has been running great now. Great Customer Service! Above & Beyond! Our Bosch Dishwasher was not draining. Called Cody's to come out and take a look. They promptly scheduled me for the following day within a 3hr window. Ensuring that I will be called by technician when he was on his way. John called when he was 15 min out. He was very prompt. John is very professional, polite & courteous. He immediately went to work to look at the problem. Sure enough, he was able to locate the problem. Burned out mother board. Specifcally, the function for draining. He then looked at our manufacture number and date and informed us that this dishwasher was part of a Bosch call back due to this very problem & it the new part would be covered for the manufacture! He went to work and made the phone calls necessary to get the part asap. John was back within a couple of days with the new part. He arrived again very promptly. We were his 1st stop of the day & he replaced the part. After John left, I loaded up the dishwasher and started while I ran an errand. I got back after approx and hr and notice my dishwasher was done. I opened it & saw that it did not drain again! I immediately called John & left a breif message. Within 10 min his office called back & got my info on problem and told me tha John will be back that afternoon. While I was waiting I entered my upstairs bathroom and turned on the light. The light did not come on & I then figured out that the circuit broke! Just as I figured it out John was at my door. I was very apologetic and explained that I did not look to see if the circut broke because everything else in my kitchen was on (N. End Home) He was so friendly & told me it was no problem & he still wanted to make sure everything was OK. I reccomend Cody's to everyone! If you live in the N. End of Boise John will go the extra distance to make sure you are taken care of! read more

We have a two year old washing machine break so I called Cody's for the repair job. Not only did our washer get repaired quickly and thus far correctly - it has only been 30 minutes since he finished - our tech, Gabe, took the time to re-educate me and my family on how to better load and use the machine (I guess I missed that day in Home Economics!). He took the time to explain what broke and why, and even showed me a thing or two about our dryer vent after he showed me how to clean, and thus extend the life of our washer. Frankly, Gabe set the bar for great customer service, which until now had been occupied by Apple - yeah, he's that good. Horrible experience. We feel taken advantage of. My husband had taken apart our dryer and found out the heating coil needed to be replaced. We decided to hire out because he wasn't having luck finding a part locally and thought that we could pay professional to fix and put back together. We had to pay $89 for them to come diagnose and give us a quote. We saw the part is $20 so thought that it couldn't be more than $150 to fix and the $89 would go toward that. Nope. $350 was the quote to fix. I could see online my dryer can be bought for $450. Ridiculous. So we asked how much yo put the dryer back together if we put the part in and they said $150. We ordered part online and fixed ourselves but felt the quotes were so outrageous that buying a new one would be cheaper. read more

I was having a problem with Subzero fridge, had Mr Appliance out for a service call. They had no knowledge of what they were doing. Charged me $75 and spent the whole time on phone with tech support. Never diagnosed the problem. I then called Cody's. I was quoted $89 to diagnose the problem and give a quote to repair. The problem was diagnosed within 5 minutes. I was not given a quote. He just went ahead and fixed it and handed me a bill for $360. It works fine. I feel Cody's has the knowledge, and nice to talk to, but the only problem I have is that it seems like the $89 is to get in the door and somehow the diagnosis and quote gets lost. Going ahead with repair without quote or authorization is something to watch for. I would call them in the future, but now know what to watch for. read more

I am disappointed with what I believe to be a very high labor cost for what should have been a simple job repairing my dishwasher. In this call, it was simply a latch (and a spring) that had broken, yet there was a bill of $210 ($154 of which was labor). The tech said the labor is determined by some "blue book" rate rather than actual time spent doing the labor. This seems arbitrary to me. It has the effect of removing any transparency of labor costs for the customer. I now have no idea how much a labor charge will be, no matter how simple the job, until Cody's comes on site with this "blue book" and tell me what it is. At that point, even if I refuse, it will cost me $75. $154 for 30-45 min to install a simple latch is just too high. read more
