I'd posit that a ham steak topped with maple syrup paired with two eggs, hash browns, toast, and something alcoholic is the pinnacle of American breakfast. I love this place! Very cute coffee shop/diner atmosphere which is just what I look for in a restaurant. The food was excellent. I had an omelette with well done potatoes and a blueberry muffin and everything was great. Our service was wonderful too. Our waitress was a delight (when I find the receipt I will include her name later). But one thing ... when they told us that that breakfast was only served for 5 more minutes when we walked in, we breathed a sigh of relief ... because, let me tell you, had they said that breakfast was no longer served, we would've turned around and walked right out!! A place like this is made for serving breakfast all day and the great breakfasts they serve should be available all day. My husband and I live in San Francisco and go to Los Angeles to visit family several times a year and will be coming to Cody's on our trips up and down 101. I just hope they are serving breakfast at the time we make it into town, or we will be going elsewhere. read more

We've been coming to Cody's for years and today I decided to write a review. The service today was excellent! The food was described by my wife as "the best chili verde ever". Our waiter was quick and very accommodating. Our rich coffee seemed bottomless since the coffee service made so many rounds. Here is a suggestion for this restaurant... Butter, like salt & pepper, or any seasoning, is something the PATRON should apply to his/her meal. IT ISN'T YOUR CALL! Many of us DO NOT LIKE IT. Don't worry, it's OK! Just place the tub of butter you normally destroy my pancakes with ON THE SIDE ok? As for your French Toast, I suggest you guys BURY that item, you DO NOT know how to make it AT ALL. French toast is not supposed to be inflated by grease. Sorry I am harsh in this review, but you really burned me out at my last visit to your establishment... it was very substandard... my 10 year old REFUSED to eat his meal, and upon examination I completely understood. I was in the area for a week and every time I would drive by, this place was always busy. My daughter and I decided that we needed to try it. The food was delicious. I had the Chicken Marcela and my daughter had the Pot Roast and veggies. The only reason I didn't give it a five star was because of the service. It took longer for us to get our ticket then it did our food. Once I got the ticket I still continued to wait and finally just decided to take my ticket to the front hoping to make my exit faster but I had to wait for someone to show up to charge my card. Not sure if it was just an unexpected busy night or if they are always under staffed. I will definitely give it a second chance if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Ordered a margarita and a sandwich. The sandwich was really good. 1/4 of the way through, flipped it over to add pepper, giant black hair in the meat. I am blonde. Showed the waitress and she couldn't care less and she would comp the meal...thanks? This wasn't her first time saying this I am sure. She was not fazed at all. I'm not even a breakfast person, but the breakfast at Cody's has won me over. Came here with 3 friends and all of us were thrilled with our orders. I had the fairfax, because I had been craving lox since the day before. This took lox to a whole new level. I mean, how can you go wrong by adding hollendaise to anything? My friend's hash looked amazing! Very meaty and made in house. My skinny sister ordered an omelet, which was stuffed to the brim with meat cheese and veggies, and came with home fries and toast. I LOVE Breakfast Burritos & Phili Cheese Steak sandwiches, but I don't love theirs. The Breakfast Burrito is kind of boring & I always needed to add things to enjoy it (which increases the price quite a bit). It's huge, but instead of making it sooo big, I think they should make it smaller & add more ingredients (add extra cheese, potatoes, meat- steak/bacon/sausage, & remove some of the beans), & also start making a fresh, more traditional-Mexican style salsa (they use a store-bought-like salsa, which really ruins it for me...). Also, for the Phili sandwich, they use processed steak, & processed cheese (the kind where slices come individually wrapped). For me, it ruins the sandwich (I can make my own, easily, in such a way...). The breakfast Cottage Fries are really yummy, but sometimes they are inconsistent. One time my friend got hers & they were perfect, then I was served mine & they were black & overdone (same table!). Also, the other Mexican food I've tried is too Americanized. Anyway. Consistant food, great service, full bar. A great neighborhood spot. My favorites are the corned beef hash for breakfast and the pot roast for lunch or dinner. The corned beef hash is so fresh and delicious. No cans of mystery meat here! The pot roast is cooked in firestone double barrel beer. It has a delicious peppery flavor and the portion size is great. The carrots absorb all the juices from the roast and practically explode with flavor when you bite into them. The bloody marys are solid and one of my favorites in town. I was really excited when we stepped in this place. It felt like the type of restaurant you would find outside of Santa Barbara- very laid back, classic American menu. The service was great and our server was awesome. However, the food was really sub par. Everything had so, so much salt in it. I have never had over-salted salmon until I went here. The burrito was just okay but lacking in eggs, it had plenty of cheddar, avocado and black beans. The omelette was lacking eggs and was served one sided and was watery, very strange, the server said it shouldn't be that way but didn't do anything about it. We found Cody's by accident on Saturday night and couldn't have been more surprised or pleased by the hospitality the food and our server They were getting ready to close as we walked in but they still managed to put a smile on their face and allowed us to enjoy a very lovely dinner and cocktail We are in the area several times throughout the year and Cody's will be our GO TO place for our meals I wish I could remember our server's name she was a delight!!! There was four of us and we all agreed that the food was delicious I recommend the Shrimp Scampi & Linguine OMG it was outstanding.
