A quick simple breakfast was what I was looking for and Cody's Diner gave me that. It was fairly empty when I arrived, so I got very quick service. Not overly friendly, but not rude either. Only service complaint is that they never checked on me after getting food. Denver omelet was packed with ham, onions, and peppers. The cheese was minimal. It was a bit over done, but had a great flavor. The home fries were excellent! They were perfectly done with a great griddle crust on one side. This is probably one of the worst places to order from. They constantly get your order wrong. There was hair in my daughters sandwich a while back. They truly need to fix the way they operate. We have driven by this diner so many times. When I think of all the meals that we could've enjoyed here, I could kick myself! If you're shopping at IKEA, don't eat those meatballs! Go to Cody's. This is a small diner offering your standard diner fare. Seat yourself at the counter or grab a booth with your family or friends. Orders are taken quickly and the food is served fast. The waitstaff is friendly and seem to know most of their patrons. Being lunch time, we ordered a couple of sandwiches. My husband got the Turkey Club, I ordered the Chicken Salad Sandwich and Jacob had the Grilled Cheese. Veggies on the sandwiches were fresh. Portions were perfect and the fries were served hot and crispy. We will definitely be returning, the next time we make an IKEA run. read more

I live around the corner from Cody's and even though 95% of the time they forget at LEAST one major thing in my order, it's fast and easy and I usually find myself ordering again when I'm in a pinch. Today I ordered chicken souvlaki with fries and as expected it was pretty mediocre. Unfortunately though, I only just noticed after I was almost done eating that the container my fries were in was completely lined in mold. This is definitely the last straw for me. I can't believe they haven't been shut down by the health department yet, and if you're considering going there I promise you it's not worth your time or money. read more

24-7 greasy spoon diner. I liked going for the nostalgic atmosphere, as it feels like a retro place that would be fun to hang out in. Food was good, and would probably taste better after a long night out. Had not been here in a while so showed up at 10 on a Sunday. Parking lot was half full, I was surprised to see. There were three or four empty booths so I grabbed one, settling in for a tasty breakfast. The waitress asked me what I wanted to drink, I said "water" and looked over the menu. Hmmm, pancakes and bacon, I decided, tired of my usual eggs. Then a different person came over and I looked up expectantly. Screwing up her face into what I imagine she thought was a hopeful look, she asked me, "Would you mind moving to the counter?" Would I mind? I asked myself, thankful that she was giving me a choice. "Yes," I replied, "I would." Yet, she continued, "It's the weekend and we are so busy." I looked around. Yes, a couple had come in after me and took the booth behind mine. And that was that. No line at the door. The counter stools occupied by three people. I decided that I wasn't really being given as choice, was I. I was being TOLD to move. My money wasn't as important as two or more people's money. So I said I would go somewhere else. She walked off, internally shrugging, I guess. I drove to another diner; New Haven has many good ones. I ordered pancakes and bacon and devoured them. The tab came to $6.33. I got my change and left the waitress a $3 tip. I always tip big in diners, especially. (I felt bad for the Cody's diner waitress but, hey, management wants to deny the woman a big tip, that's management's decision.) I got in my car. It was now 10:30. It had taken me about 12 minutes to order, eat and leave. Cody's couldn't risk a 12-minute wait for a table when there was NO ONE WAITING!? Not that they care, but I'll never be back. I think what time you come in to Cody's/what day can really affect your experience. I have been twice for breakfast on Sunday, and I've really enjoyed Cody's both times. The polarizing reviews of this place kept me away for longer than it should have, which is a shame because I live in the neighborhood. Both times I have been, the service has been friendly and mostly attentive. Once we have ordered, the food comes out FAST (I don't think I waited more than 10 minutes). The food has been delicious for what it is - greasy diner food. I've tasted the turkey club sandwich, which had surprisingly quality turkey on it; a steak and cheese omelet; and the steak bomb breakfast sandwich. In both cases, the steak was perfectly seasoned and not overly greasy. I definitely recommend stopping by Cody's when you want some satisfying food that is cheap and fast. Nowhere else to dine at 2:30 a.m. so this place is better than nothing. Just left Rudy's and 4 hours of dancing. The guest DJ and I went out to catch up as we are great friends from college. I had a waffle. It was perfect. I hate soggy waffles. I always have to ask for well done as if most other people don't --- I don't get that at all. Anyway, the other clientele this time of night are bit loud (someone had to be thrown out) and there's a cop on duty. Wha?? Lots of folks doing take out. This was my first time at the diner after hearing about it from everyoneeeee. They are open 24/7 so we got there a little after 2:30am. The diner was packed but we were seated quickly which made it all that much better. I got a waffle with a side of eggs and it was super yummy. Inconsistent. Went here for breakfast two Sundays in a row at relatively same time (12pm). Last Sunday was not as busy as this one. And it made the experience different (in a bad way). Our waitress was more focused on filling Uber Eats order than filling the coffee mugs and she even forgot to bring our check. Now, I am not expecting much when ordering a cheese omelette but when your omelette was big enough for you to say, "wow! That's big!" (With cheese spilling out the sides) And then the next time you look down you are disappointed at the smaller size and have to ask if there is even cheese in it at all... you have to wonder what happened? So my friend Brooke and I planned to have a reunion after my trip to Boston and we decided to spend our money and time at Cody's diner. The owner herself put us at a table and she decided that we didn't need any menus for the first 15 minutes we were there? Then she and another worker bullied the hell out of a server that was working there. When I finally went up to pay for my meal I asked a extremely rhetorical question if I should pay at the kiosk and she said "well duh". As I was walking out of this hellscape that she calls a business. I said "hey make sure that party you sat had menu's". Because throughout our entire meal she did nothing except yell at her employee's and sit at the bar she was a little taken aback I can't imagine any in the last 40 talked to her like that. Food is fine . The customer service is not. I am currently 9 months pregnant and I don't eat out but super tired and just needed some food in me. I called to ask questions and got laughed at and hung up on. Following that I called back because I had another question and made a complaint about getting hung up on and the woman was argumentative vs actually listening when I was NOT being rude. I ordered through an app (as directed by them) so someone could pick it up for me. I don't eat beef or pork and explained that over the phone the woman told me just put that in the order and everything would be fine. Once I received my sandwich there was pork bacon. Someone did me a favor by bringing me the food and next day I'm in the early stages of labor so obviously I can't go down there myself. I complain and they EVENTUALLY apologize they meaning one person who told me her name was Alex. Then expressed that it was on the ticket and they did mess up. Told me to call back next day between 7-3 . When I called this VERY RUDE woman Jessica told me there's no Alex and to call back when I knew who I was looking for and hung up in my face. I called back bc they claimed they had to wait for the owner to do the refund bc they didn't know how to work the system. I got no money back , even ruder customer service than I already received and if I could give this place a negative 5 I would. I haven't recommended this place in years and I definitely won't be doing so. They did some work on the place so I thought maybe some other factors would have changed as well, clearly I was wrong. A few years back when I ate out every now and then there was an even worse incident when I came in with a group of people. They charged one girl for another girls food , they made a number of mistakes in simply charging for the food. Then said that it was too bad and we had to go back and forth just for everything to be corrected , it was not a busy night and it was just somewhere for us to go really late. We went for a breakfast at lunch time round 2pm during the holidays. The place was clean inside and outside. The staff was funny, nice and we received great service. It was our waitresses first day there but we couldn't tell until we where told. They hired a great staff member she was awesome. I ordered a cheeseburger omelette off menu with rye toast and it was delicious, coffee was brewed perfectly. One down side is that they don't have decaf coffee but where willing to make a cup of regular half cut with water with the same outcome delicious! Best thing they are open 24/7 and serve breakfast all day. But they also have a full menu besides. Give them a try you won't be disappointed! read more

The food is delicious!!! Looking through reviews made this diner seem a little scary. But it was reasonably clean, there were a lot of families and the kitchen never stopped making food (a lot of take out and eat-in). The pancakes had a ton of flavor and the eggs were a true over easy delicacy. The wait staff were wonderful, the only concern I saw that other reviews pointed out is the older female that was managing the front end was abrupt, which can be seen as rude to some customers. But the price was well worth the food and everything came quickly even during a Sunday morning rush. read more

My one star is not for the food because it's great, its the way they treat their employees the gentleman in the back screams at the waitress and defames them, it's not a surprise that the one woman who been there forever is still there because she supports it and also engages in it against the other waitress. On A Sunday morning visit Cody's did what they do right. The western omelette was chock full of ham , peppers and cheese done soft as ordered. We asked for the hash browns to be well done and they were perfect! My breakfast sandwich with crisp bacon on an English muffin was just right. The service attentive and friendly. This place is the epitome of a diner, full to the brim with greasy food, cliche waitresses, and suspicious clientele. I could ask for nothing more. The tuna melt included so much mayonnaise that it must have come from one of those lunch lady-size buckets. Needless to say, it was delicious. The menu is immense, including gyros, burgers, salads, sandwiches, home-style meals like pot roast, and 24/7 breakfast, which is surprising for a place that looks like the size of a generous mobile home from the outside. Mmmm, I love a good diner, and Cody's is it. No fancy decor, but it DOES have waitresses who remind you of either Tammy Faye Baker or Peg Bundy, and REALLY GOOD food. Bonus: They have GRITS!!!! Although they weren't the best grits (a little watery), they had 'em; AND they have SWEET TEA (OMG! Sweet tea in New England!!! Yes, brewed tea with the sugar already in it- sweet tea!!). Cool spot. I've been here a few times, which was a few times too many. I really wish this place were better; I live so close and it's open 24 hours. The food has been OK (2 stars, even on a diner-food scale), but the thing that really sinks Cody's in my mind is the service. Vignette 1: My wife and in-laws went for a late lunch (~3pm) and took a booth. Shortly thereafter a huge group of schoolkids show up. The waitress wouldn't even take our orders until after all of those kids had their food, EVEN THOUGH THEY SHOWED UP AFTER US. Vignette 2: I stopped in to get a take-out lunch. I ordered my food and when it came out, the cashier had disappeared. I waited another 5 minutes for her to return, as did another table that wanted to pay and leave. The waitress told us she would lose her job if she took our money. So both the other table and I ended up leaving cash (meaning I left more of a tip than was warranted). Of course when I got home (2 blocks away), the food was cold.
