I'm normally turned off by saran-wrapped stuff but i got the sausage breakfast sandwich and it was delish- 2 sausage patties and a nice bottled hot sauce selection under cream and sugar area. Looked like really nice ready-made salads in addition to salad and sandwich made-to-order menu. Full coffee & espresso menu, fresh donuts! Super friendly staff. Stopped here for a quick lunch today and I'll 100% be returning!! The shop keeper was so kind, he made genuinely nice small-talk while making a great sandwich! On top of the service and food, this little shop somehow had all of my favorite drinks (the ones i usually have to drive to Whole Foods for). Peach Oolong Tea and 7 flavors of GT Kombucha, with a ton of other options! My BLT was absolutely stacked and i got to enjoy it outside at a small café table. They have everything. Literally, everything. Sandwiches, bagels, croissant, salads, instant ramen, chips, cookies, muffins, candy. They have ready-made sandwiches for those on the go for around $5. I had a made to order Pastrami sandwich on a roll with everything. It was hefty! Way worth the $7 I paid for it. Went here for the first time and loved it. We got the egg salad sandwich and the crab salad sandwich. Super sweet guy behind the counter who offered a sample of the crab salad and then threw in some free sweets with our order. Nothing fancy, just a great little mom and pop. Love the outdoor seating. I don't know what's happening to the service at this place but as of lately (last few months) I stopped coming here as regularly due to the quality of food that I started getting. Not to mention--I'm pretty sure that I go sick from eating here on multiple occasions. I really REALLY want to support the business the owner is running here but it's hard when the quality is severely lacking and costs me just as much to go to Polaris for something better. When I did come regularly the owner would make me something as requested if it wasn't on display. Now, even let request to not Microwave my food items--he does anyways. Today, I asked him to toast me something and he microwaved it instead. The bagels that I request to get toasted get thrown in the mini oven with the cream cheese still in the center--I asked for a toasted bagel not a semi-warm one. The only thing I can say that I will be getting is the cut fruit, bottled drinks, and pre-packaged items. Anything else--is hit or miss based on the mood of the owner. read more

This place has what you need to get you through the day at the office. Donuts are fresh and my preference for the morning snack. They also have an assortment of fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, and sushi in addition to the usual chips, candy and nuts you find in any convenience store. If you ever need a cab, this is the place to be. There are at least 4-5 taxis parked out front lingering in hopes of finding someone in need of their services. read more

The drip coffee leaves a lot to be desired but I stopped coming here before work because he recycled the coffee from the day before. I worked very early one morning and arrived here right as he opened -- the coffee was lukewarm because the hot pad hadn't enough time to heat up the coffee yet. The owner didn't have the decency to warm me, or suggest waiting for a fresh pot. The asian owner is really nice, and the donuts are definitely fresh each morning, but not much else is, like the seran wrapped costco muffins that sit on the counter until they're sold. I came here sporadically for a while because there aren't many food/drink options in the area but had to stop because the owner is a penny pincher, which severely affects the quality of food and drink. I am not surprised people suspect this place being responsible for their food born illness. Everyone in the office knows this place sucks. It's a situation where I don't have to warn anyone --no one goes here that isn't a sucker fresh off an amtrak train across the street. read more

Why is this business area of Emeryville so devoid of convenience stores?! If you work at or are doing business in this jumping area of Emeryville, this is the only corner store this side of San Pablo apparently. Luckily, this place is well decent. Aside from the bodega staples, they have some odd things like Japanese food and Korean ramen "made"-to-order. Some Luna and Clif bars are available and they have these hippy vegan cookies which are supposed to be good for one's heart. I do think they charge you like 50cents for debit transactions which may be acceptable but is kinda lame and violates the agreement they probably have with the credit card companies. Most of their stuff comes from costco. i go there exclusively for a fruit bowl thing that is only 3 dollars. its mixed: watermelon, cataloupe/honeydew, grapes, kiwis, mangos, and others. sounds great right ;0 they also make a lot of sandwiches, bagels, and croissants. I had a good experience. I asked the (very nice) young lady working what the best breakfast sandwich was. She asked me what ingredients I liked and then the other lady made a custom one for me. It was very good. With a kombucha drink the total was $7 and some change. It is located diagonally across from the AmTrak station where I am about to hop on the California Zephyr. So I erroneously used to call this place "The Corner Store" because everyone at work did, but I recently learned its proper name and transferred my review accordingly. This store is a God-send when it comes to picking up an essential, whether it's a piece of fruit, a cup of good tea, a little box of cereal, or a ginger ale when your stomach's ailing you. It's conveniently located at Horton and 59th, just across from the Amtrak station and near the WestAmerica Bank. I love dropping by when company meetings require me to be in Emeryville, because they almost always have just what I need--some kind of snack and beverage combo to tide me over and get me back to the BART station and onward to the South Bay.
