Came here for lunch. Some of the prices looked a little high, but what I ended up decided on happened to be one of the cheaper items on the menu. I ordered the cheese and egg sandwich and it was pretty yummy. Egg cooked enough but not too much, the type of bread they used was pretty good, and a very good tomato based sauce. read more

Not my cup of tea. I went there to meet someone for business. The place looks cute and they have a nice selection on the menu. The staff wasn't friendly. Not that they were rude but I don't think I could have cracked a smile out of either of the people I talked to. Prices are up there so I was hoping for something good. I ordered a egg Benedict which was $12. They tell you they'll call your name when it's ready so I didn't realize there is no service there (only realized after I left a nice tip when I paid:( ) I sat at a table that someone had left their coffee mug and trash at. Again, no service so no one came by to pick it up even though I moved it aside and put the trash in the cup. I picked up my food when called and it was served on a paper plate and you get your own plastic utensils at a service area. I was there for about an hour and eventually cleaned my own plate and the left over coffee mug from when I got there. The place falls somewhere between a Starbucks, where you get everything from the counter yourself and have no service, and a full-service restaurant but the only thing Coffee Commissary has in common with that is the prices. Let me start off by saying this place has AMAZING food. Although I almost always order off the breakfast menu, I've had some of their lunch items before. It's all great. I find myself craving the breakfast burrito quite often. Their coffee is good but nothing to write home about. However, this place is WAY over priced. $5 for a mediocre coffee? Even the food, as incredible as it is, isn't totally worth the price. Every time I come in here the staff is just not friendly. I've worked in a few food places before and I know it's stressful-but I don't think I've ever been served with a smile here. On more than one occasion, I had a young man give me attitude for asking questions about the menu. Very poor costumer service. I will say, there is a good amount of seating both inside and out. And parking is usually easy to find. While I do still come here occasionally- the poor costumer service has me questioning my decision. read more

Compared to my home town of Sydney Australia, good coffee shops in LA are few and far between. On our last trip to LA (my son lives in Burbank) this was the best coffee that we found. Very good Latte, made by well trained Baristas. The bread and pastries are also very good. The onsite parking is limited, but there is plenty on the nearby streets. read more

They're all seemlessly stylized for the "coffee experience" and are cool to chat with. The food and drinks are pricy, but the quality deserves it. Such a busy place! I grab my coffee and go. This last time my coffee tasted really bitter but most of the time it is nice and strong.

The breakfast burritos here are pretty spectacular. Go for the veggie burrito and add bacon or meat and it turns out great. The potatoes they use in it are crispy and the eggs are sunny side up. I didn't like the brisket burrito as much as it was lacking the filling ingredients that the veggie one has. If they added a few more things to it, it would be spectacular. Also you can't call in to order ahead for pick up which is a bummer, hopefully they will get on that soon! read more

I hate this place. I really really hate this place. Do not spend your money here, go down the street to Priscilla's. This wanna be hipster joint serves lukewarm bitter coffee in a thimble and charges $4.50 for it. One size only, no almond milk, no rice milk, no gluten free food options. If you want to pretend like you're a silver lake joint, have some options. And the pretentious barista in the vest and tie calling an espresso shot an extraction just pissed me off. Regarding the Commissary in Burbank, Ca... Yikes, where do I even start with this place? (deep breath) I'm going to focus on three aspects during this post: 1. Atmosphere 2. Coffee 3. Attitude 1. When we walked in, we were instantly surrounded by a cold, dreary decor that resembled a forlorn middle school chemistry classroom. Hard metal tables, a plethora of ceiling fans blowing wildly, and collections of random objects scattered on the shelves along the wall... very closely resembling a hipster's lonely, depressing living room. The antithesis of cozy. By the way, I would have been happy to overlook all of these things if the coffee was even close to being tasty, which leads us to our next section... 2. I ordered an iced coffee with vanilla sweetener, which, to the dapper chap at the register (wearing a vest, cabbie hat, and a ridiculous flannel shirt), seemed like a crazy request. He told me that didn't have any behind the counter but I could help myself to the condiment table. Okay fine. Cut to: 20 seconds later at the cold, metal science lab condiment table. I found nothing but a strange tasting "organic" milk jar, a few packets of sugar, and yes, PEPPER. No sign of half and half, vanilla, or any other kind of sweetener. I sat down, defeated and shivering from the multitude of fans blowing. I took a sip of the iced coffee and let me tell you, no amount of sweetener in the world could have saved this syrupy, bland, awful cup of liquid. I truly believe the man at the register harvested the coffee beans himself in his backyard. That bad. And I won't even elaborate on how terrible the prices are here. I have put that thought out of my head forever. 3. Right off the bat, we got a strange vibe from the two men behind the counter. Can you blame us? Just their outfits alone could turn the warmest heart cold. Vests, collared shirts, and cabbie hats. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a little fashion but it simply isn't needed at a coffee shop. If you enjoy friendly service, nice decor, and/or a cozy atmosphere, this place is NOT for you. I will not be returning to this establishment. In fact, I'll be taking a different route just to avoid looking at it. read more

I've been here only three times and I have to say you have to get the Americano! To get seating is very difficult which is good because that means business is good. They have great chocolate chip cookies. Get it warmed up, that's the best way, they heat it in the oven. They don't microwave there baked goods. The customer service is awesome. i love to support local business. and i was so excited to try this place when it opened. the coffee is delicious, the food is all wonderful (tarts, cookies etc). i'm now a regular. my only complaint, and probably the reason i wont come as often as i'd like, is the price. $8 for a latte and a snack is so expensive! i want to support the smaller places, but i would pay half that at starbucks. and this is burbank for crying out loud. let's drop the prices just a bit. or maybe offer a frequent customer card? also the music is deafening sometimes. i'm litterally yelling my order. okay, that's two complaints. but i still love it :) read more

Really a mixed bag... There are some tasty treats in the bakery, including the quiche which was quite good. And the coffee is excellent, although at its price level it should be! However, I have to point out the "ambient" music choice. I'm far from being a prude, but is hard-core gangster rap really creating the ideal atmosphere? In a room with moms and toddlers, and I heard more bit**es, f-bombs and n-words than I could count. And it was not subtly playing in the background, the volume was close to bar level. My wife pointed this out to the slack-jawed hipster staff, who didn't seem to get the issue or make any changes. read more

I frequent here for their chocolate chip cookie, but lately I've been wishing I didn't make purchases at this place. I agree with other yelpers that they're music is too loud and the atmosphere is not relaxing at all, both inside and outside. Chairs and tables are uncomfortable and odd (outside). The wait for coffee, a basic drink and food is incredibly long. I don't fancy one of their head baristas who acts way too sarcastic at front. The cookie is good but overpriced at $3.50. My fiance and I tried the brisket breakfast burrito and were disappointed by the portion of brisket in there. There were 2 thin slices. I'm comparing this to the other photos I've seen posted of the burrito on yelp, which look like the brisket was loaded in there. The rest of the ingredients were good in the burrito, but bland, salsa was bland and could have been tangier or spicier, and no salt whatsoever. Maybe this is because it was saturday morning? Even so, you should be prepared for your busiest day of the week. All the employees were scrambling and confused and slow. We waited 45 mins for a small breakfast burrito. Potatoes were good and made fresh to order, but too hot to eat immediately after. Hope this place steps up their game so I can give them another shot. DISAPPOINTED. OH and don't go here if you plan on catching up with someone or having a conversation because as other yelpers mentioned, music is too loud, weird temperatures and extra noisy inside due to the kitchen and goings and comings out the door. read more
