I've been twice, once just to get a drink, and another to get brunch. My overall impression is the food is very basic and just ok. I had Pistachio Waffles and it tasted like something I might've slightly overcooked in my Dash waffle maker at home, drizzled some cream over, and called it a day. It wasn't fluffy at all, and had no taste. It was pistachio cream on cardboard. But I guess it was at least edible. I think for what you get, it is quite expensive at $20 after tax, considering there are so many brunch places that do make much better waffles. I was also surprised they won't give you water here. Every cafe/restaurant I've ever been to will give you a cup of water if you ask. I was pointed to the bottled waters, meaning that was the only option for water. That's pretty stingy, and I think it sums up what they put into their food too, bare basics just to charge a premium. I needed a place to work on my computer for several hours one day and came here. This was a great place to work for the day. The dining room is sunny and full of windows. The temperature was perfectly comfortable inside on this hot day - not freezing like some places. There's lots of seating and WiFi. I also had no issue finding parking. As for the food and drinks, I tried the iced latte, lavender matcha latte, and avocado toast. All were good. The little side salad was surprisingly tasty for being so simple. read more

I think I've officially found my new go-to spot! The vibe here is so welcoming--super friendly staff, quick service, and such a peaceful, beautiful atmosphere that makes you actually want to stay and relax. The place is lovely, I haven't tried other things but I must say not the coffee or orange juice I tried here was worth $8-$9. Horrible coffee and the OJ I got here was not even drinkable and it cost $9. I had to throw it away. I'll post photos. I've never ever seen such orange juice anywhere. Republic coffee is better. For the owners... lovely people but if you're going to charge $9 for an orang juice please make sure customer gets quality juice and or maybe even organic for that price. After coming back to Calidum Cafe , it is unfortunate to say but my experience was not the same. First off , service was way different and the guy behind the register did not seem welcoming. I tried their Turkey Sandwich and was not impressed. Really basic sandwich and overpriced at $14. I previously gave this spot 4 stars but I would give it 3 stars now. Visited 10/6/25 & 10/9/25 Their pastries are so good, especially the custard-fruit one, which became my instant favorite. During both of my visits, I came in the early evening, and the staff let me know that their kitchen had already closed for the day. Due to that, they were only able to offer the pastries displayed at the counter and their drink menu. The drinks were a bit on the pricier side, and compared to everything else, I found the beverages a little underwhelming and not as memorable. (I got the latte rose and matcha latte.) What really stood out to me was the atmosphere. It has a warm, cozy vibe with plenty of seating and little touches (ex: flower decorations) that make it feel inviting. The employees were incredibly sweet both times I came in. You order up front, and they always bring your items out with a smile. Absolutely in love and OBSESSED with the rose latte from Calidum. It is one of the best things I've ever had the pleasure of sipping on. I think about it at random times of the day and it takes all my willpower not to consistently break my meal/diet plan by having this latte every single day. As far as the food goes, I've only ever tried their beef luleh plate (delicious!). It was perfectly priced and also quite a generous portion. It's a cute restaurant cafe, that's for sure. Bright, colorful, and very inviting, Calidum Cafe evokes the 50s yesteryears vibes and makes it a very cozy place to spend your time there. Sadly, the food and drink I had was just ok. The matcha latte was not bad, but could tasted more distinct. It just tasted a bit artificial, vaguely like Matcha, but not by much. I was there for the much-touted Chef's Favorite Cheeseburger, however, and just like the drink, it was largely forgettable. It's not a bad burger, it's competent, but not knock-your-socks off burger, and I think it started with the burger patty that seemed under-seasoned. The fries were not bad, but it's hard to mess up fries, too. All in all, I may give the cafe another go since there are some intriguing menu items, though. Met a friend up here who saw this on Yelp as a good new place. Afterwards, we both agreed that it's "eh..." Thought we'd beat the lunch rush, and it was packed at 11:30. One over-worked employee took our order, brought out the food, and cleaned the tables. We toast her for the effort. I got the Belgian waffle, which says it comes with fruit and syrup. When it arrived, it was also covered with powdered sugar and an overly generous amount of whipped cream. (Way more than in the photo on Yelp, which I'm seeing now) Had the waffle description mentioned whipped cream or powdered sugar, I wouldn't have ordered it. This was a massive cookie, essentially...I ate what I could. (Isn't it annoying when restaurants have ingredients or items NOT listed in the description that show up?) My fellow diner had a tuna sando which he said was "fine". No sides are included with sandwiches (they cost extra - take note). Iced tea was delicious but a tad expensive at $5. There are multiple seating areas. We were towards the back as the front and outdoor were full. This back area sure was lived-in: 3 tables of people with plugged in computers there for the long haul, including 1 guy who seemingly fell asleep in the booth seating against the wall? He eventually woke up and even if he was removed, he returned and was no worse for wear. Maybe that's the designated "stay for the day area" as long as you order stuff from time to time. When we left an hour later, the front seating area was completely empty! Maybe lunch isn't too busy? Calidum has a full menu, so I'd be up for trying something else, but in no rush to return. read more

Amazing spot. The chicken pesto sandwich is honestly one of the best I've had -- fresh, flavorful, and made right. You can taste the quality in every bite. Their natural juices are also excellent, fresh and refreshing. Great food, great quality, and definitely a place I'd come back to. Highly recommend. The service was not the best. It was slow and they made little constant mistakes like making it for here instead of to go or making a drink hot instead of cold like it was ordered. I live in the neighborhood so I noticed when this was being built and was finally able to visit now that it's open. The space is nice and full of light. They have wifi and ample of seating indoor and outdoor. This could be a great place to work from. I will say the prices were too much for me. A mochaccino cost around $8.50 and a slice of cake was also $8.50 (without tip btw!) The coffee was pretty good but I wouldn't want to pay so much for it. As for the cake, it wasn't worth the price for me. It tasted like a cake that was usually cost $4.50. It's not special or extremely delicious to cost $7.50 without tax. read more

A new spot in Burbank right across from the police station. They have outdoor seating with large yellow umbrellas which give nice vibes. Indoors is spacious and colorful, also great ambiance. They have a display of pastries that looked amazing but I don't try them so I don't know how it tastes. Next time I will and update my review. My son ordered the grass fed cheeseburger which was reasonably priced at $15 and came with fries. They have sandwiches, salads, burgers, both breakfast and lunch items. The coffee selection is good and they have smoothies. The iced coffee I got was a bit watery but the iced cocoa was good. Customer service was ok. Calidum Café completely won me over! This place is cozy, beautifully decorated, and everything on the menu looks (and tastes) amazing. I started with their fresh-pressed juices, super refreshing and full of real flavor, not overly sweet. Then I tried the rose latte, which was smooth, lightly floral, and so pretty! The matcha lemonade was another standout tangy, earthy, and refreshing, such a perfect drink for a sunny day. For food, I had the lox Benedict, which was perfectly balanced fresh salmon, creamy hollandaise, and perfectly poached eggs. I also got the Belgian waffle and the blueberry pancake, and both were absolutely delicious. The waffle was light and crispy, while the pancake was soft, fluffy, and filled with juicy blueberries in every bite. Everything was beautifully presented, and you can really taste the care that goes into every detail from the flavors to the plating. *Delayed post from Mar '25 Over the last 9 years, I've seen this restaurant location go through countless iterations, Calidum being the most recent. This time around, the owners gave the space a much needed make over. From brightly colored paint and greenery, to glossy new floors and outdoor seating, they've transformed it into a trendy cafe. It's more expensive than previous establishments, but the quality is also higher. You order at a kiosk at the front and seat yourself. Our food arrived in 15 minutes and was very hot. We ordered the Sunrise Breakfast Sandwich and Lox Benedict. The sandwich's brioche bun was well toasted and very buttery. The egg was surprisingly fluffy and moist, which was a great contrast to the crispy bacon. I loved that the avocado was properly ripe and it was the right amount for the sandwich. The fries were thick, yet crispy and covered in a garlic salt. The Eggs Benedict was deliciously balanced, with saltiness from the capers and acidity from the lemon sauce. You also get smokiness from the salmon, which has a lovely light texture, and paprika on top. The only thing that could have been improved was the English muffin underneath. It wasn't soggy, but the toppings were so delicate, that a crunchy texture underneath would have taken it to an even higher level, though honestly it was still delicious and well balanced flavor wise. My only gripe is the artistic history that was removed during renovations. While I understand their choice to paint the walls throughout the building, it's a true shame that over a decade of original cartoon network artist's drawings were erased in the backroom. Their creative offices were a block away for years and they frequented the cafe often, leaving sketches of famous characters from a range of animated shows and movies. I hope the owners took photos of the walls before they painted over them. Perhaps they could display them as a tribute to the history of the space? read more

I've been to many coffee shops in Burbank/Glendale as a student and artist. My internship team and I would try out different places, but my first time at Calidum Cafe and this will be my new place to do work!!! I've lived in Burbank my whole life and remember when it was the two delicatessens, then a ghost kitchen, and now Calidum! Cartoon Network employees would always come to the delicatessen and hang out for lunch and meetings. I wish it was still around as now it has become a lovely cafe :'). This place is huge and there's a ton of seating in the back area as well. Great lighting and atmosphere, and my dirty chai latte was perfect ! I know many say that it's a bit pricey here, but to be honest, it's pretty average for a cafe and if I'm staying here for hours on end doing work, then I think it's worth the cost and giving back to the establishment. I especially love that there are so many outlets!!! It is a must for me :')!!! I definitely will be coming back, just love that it's a little more chill here BUT, I do hope it gets more business so that it says for a while! Caught a movie at the AMC Burbank and I needed food bad! This place was near and the menu looked good. I ordered the huevos rancheros (took a risk) and they were pretty decent. I have definitely had better at Mexican restaurants but it wasn't bad. I paired my food with an iced vanilla latte that was nice and strong. My boyfriend ordered the simply eggs plate and he enjoyed it. The restaurant has plenty of seating indoors and a nice patio area. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table.
