I forgot exactly how I first stumbled upon Cafe de Olla, but I've come here with my family a few times, and we've definitely decided this location is better than the Monrovia one. First, their cafe de olla is absolutely delicious. This remains one of the only places where I genuinely enjoy ordering cafe de olla. Second, their food is incredible. They serve excellent portions, everything tastes fresh, and the food is just so good. I've had their taquitos and chilaquiles, and both were delicious. The only downside is that every time I've come, there has usually been a bit of a wait, especially because the restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating. The inside is cute, but small, so we usually end up sitting outside. This is where their Monrovia location does have the advantage because it has much more space. Parking can also be tricky. Good luck finding a spot close enough where you don't have to walk far. We usually end up parking in the residential area around the corner. That said, the staff are wonderful and always try to be as accommodating as possible despite how busy they are. Highly recommend this place if you're okay with possibly waiting a bit for seating. Let's start this review with the parking situation. What's up with not having parking at a lot of restaurants? We pay an arm and a leg and they can't even provide parking? My friend and I went into this Cafe De Olla on the 17th of this month at 2pm. She met me there and lives in Burbank. I have been here once, I believe back in 2018. It was pretty solid in every way. We were warmly greeted by Erick--the host, standing by the podium and right away he got us a seat inside. After like 5 minutes, Elsa, our server approached us to take our order. My friend and I both felt like we were being rushed through our meal. Food came out hot and quick. We opted for a few of their dishes. Tacos Mananeros, came with 4 tacos ($18.95), with 4 complimentary sauces. 2 of the sauces were very spicy and Elsa didn't warn us. We also got the Veggie Omelette with tomatoes, onions, spinach, mushrooms, Jack cheese, topped with avocado and a side order of hash browns. They made the hash browns perfectly. Told her nice and crispy on the top and that's what we got. (18.95). We also shared their French Toast topped with Strawberry, Blueberries, and Blackberries. ($16.95) topped with lots of Whipped Cream (which I love) and a side of syrup. We needed to add more syrup to make the French Toast more moist. The French Toast was a bit dry for our liking. Even the people sitting next to us who ordered the same thing were saying the same. On the flip side, the other 2 dishes tasted fresh and delicious. Great portions for the prices. We also got this drink called Powerful from their smoothies section of the menu. It was called Green Smoothie. Ingredients were the following: blueberries, honey, Greek Vanilla yogurt, avocado and Almond milk. It was simply very refreshing and delicious. My friend wanted some sort of Latte, Espresso, Americano, etc..but they didn't have any of those drinks. All they had was regular & decaf coffee. At first, I asked for Cranberry juice, and Jose, said they only had Apple and Orange juice. We found it a bit odd not to have any of those drinks. Going back to our server Elsa, she was a bit aloof and forgetful. I asked for a bowl of fruit, and it never made it to our table. After we were done eating, I asked for two to-go boxes and a bag, she forgot that too. We had to ask the other employees to get them for us. The same with to-go containers for our sauces. She forgot to bring napkins too. Jose, (our busboy), needs a raise and promotion! This young man read all the ingredients on the Taco menu which came with: bacon & egg, chorizo with potato & eggs, machaka/eggs, & nopaitos/eggs. The writing in their menu was very small. Another server by the name of Angel, truly was an angel. Checked on us while Elsa was taking orders over the phone. They have another location in Monrovia, a gender neutral restroom, place was very clean. Inside was small. It had 10 tables and nice couches with cozy, inspirational decor and pillows. We were only a party of 3 so we weren't trying to wait too long..We asked them how long the wait would be, they told us 20 minutes and put us on the list. I really wanted to love this place because the menu looked incredible and we were seated almost immediately. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. We came in on a Monday around 11:00 a.m., so it wasn't during a major rush. After ordering, we waited about 25 minutes for our food. While that was longer than expected, we were willing to overlook it. What happened next was much more disappointing. After our food arrived, we ate for about 20 minutes and realized no one had checked on us--not once. We never got a water refill, no one asked if we needed anything, and we couldn't even get someone's attention despite waiting and looking around. It honestly felt like we had been forgotten. In fact, we waited over 20 minutes just be be asked if we wanted boxes to go. We literally pushed the food away from our front JUST to see if someone would come and check on us. The food itself was good, but good food can only make up for so much. Service is a huge part of the dining experience, and this visit fell far short. I hope this was just an off day because the restaurant has so much potential, but based on this experience, I'll think twice before returning. read more

Now I know why this place always has a long wait. Hot tip: You can join the waitlist on Yelp before you get there! I came with a friend who is a regular and she gave me a lot of good recommendations of what to order. The menu is quite large, filled with tons of delicious Mexican breakfast options! I'm a big machaca fan, so that's what I ordered. As an appetizer, we got the molletitos with chorizo and OMG! It was absolutely delicious. I got to taste my friend's huevos divorciados and the sauce was so delicious. My machaca was different than what I have had at other restaurants, a little on the dry side, but I enjoyed it. All right first of all let me just see we got there right on time we got served thankfully it was only two of us. We got seated right away. We stood outside sidewalk to which was nice surprisingly. I got on the waitlist online around 10:15am. Said about 12-12:30pm I get it busy. Checked in around 12:15pm said 20 minute wait, cool. Took 45 min to sit us. Because I actually had to go ask again. Cafe De Olla is a Burbank staple. I've been going to Cafe De Olla for quite some time now and they don't miss. Their food is amazing. I always get their Chilaquiles and Chocolate Chip Pancakes with an Iced Cafe De Olla. They have different sauces for their chilaquiles and each one is so good. The pancakes are always warm and fluffy. Service is top tier. Everyone is so welcoming and tries to accommodate you in a timely manner as they do get really busy. Ambiance is great. A cozy breakfast spot with seating inside and some outside. It's on the smaller side so it does get packed. I would recommend being there early. It was busy but they move fast so we only waited about 20 min. Parking can be a little difficult as it's only street parking. A solid 4.5 stars (unfortunately, no 1/2 stars on Yelp). Been here many times. I would give it 5 stars on the other occasions I've been there but this visit, I docked it by 1/2 star due to outrageous pricing. I still love Cafe de Olla, though. Lines are crazy on weekends but the trick is to put your name on the online waitlist and head there when you're close to being seated. Their food is always fresh and high quality. Everything is delicious but their chilaquiles are the star of the show during breakfast! I hate chilaquiles when the tortilla chips drenched in the sauce arrives soft and soggy! Cafe de Olla's does it right- tortilla chips stays crunchy all sauced up! The reasoning for the 4.5 star review this time around is due to pricing for a SIDE ORDER of chilaquiles verde. I cannot eat much these days, so I figured to order a side dish for breakfast because i didn't want to take home food that i know will go to waste (e.g., chilaquiles are best eaten fresh) and I was hoping to save a bit of money by not ordering a main entree. Turns out, the joke was on me! The side order of chilaquiles came out to $17.95!! That's pretty outrageous for a plate of chilaquiles with just the sauce, a sprinkle of Cotija and cilantro (no eggs). I was imagining it to be at most $10 but almost $20 was crazy. My bad for not asking! The other sad part of today's breakfast is that they stopped offering cafe de Olla to go when you have it with your sit-down meal. They would always give you a small cup of cafe de Olla if you asked for it after your meal. I guess this is a cost savings to them but sad for the patrons that have been used to this tradition. I went for brunch during the week when it would be less crowded, wait time for a table wasn't long and we were able to snag a seat inside. Our server Matt came to the table right away, grabbed our drinks and answered some questions I had about the menu. I ended up grabbing the poblano chilaquiles (green sauce) it came with rice and creamy beans to dip the chips in. It was delicious, lots of chips so I didn't finish it all but was really good. My cousin got a veggie breakfast wrap and an iced coffee, she said both were really good! They also have gluten free pancakes ($2+ up charge) and will accommodate if you have any allergies, just notify the server. Overall service was great, food was delicious. Seating is limited both inside and outside. Parking is street only, I did find a spot off to the side in the neighborhood with a short walk to the restaurant. **When checking in, note that your whole party needs to be there when the table is ready. First time eating here with friends and I really enjoyed it. My friend put our name down on the waitlist via Yelp while driving and we waited approximately 10 minutes to be seated. Once the table was ready, they called us and sat us down. We ordered and the food came out extremely fast. Whoever is running the kitchen definitely knows what they're doing! I ordered the chorizo burrito with hash brown from their breakfast menu and the cafe de olla. The burrito was fresh and hot with a good kick in spice - the perfect size too. Eating it with the included salsa, it was great! The cafe de Olla was delicious too with a good amount of cinnamon and not overly sweet either. I've been to the Cafe De Olla in Monrovia, but the one in Burbank is the OG location. It's smaller with a few tables inside and out on the sidewalk. I can see how the wait can be super long here during peak times since the cafe has such few tables. As we came later in the day, we were able to get a table pretty quickly. Plus we got on the Yelp Waitlist so that probably helped. Parking is available only if you're lucky to find a spot in the street. The restroom is tiny and not wheelchair accessible. Pastries for sale are displayed in a vintage cupboard (like those cupboards in your abuelita's living room). Love the extensive menu and brunch that is available all day. I live for their hot Cafe de Olla (they also offer it in iced) and downed a few mugs during my meal - so so good! My friend and I shared the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich and the Banana Pecan French Toast. Both were 5/5 - so yummy! This place is tiny so I cannot tell you how important it is to get on the wait-list before you arrive. That being said the food is pretty good, the chorizo is excellent and the chilaquiles are done well and stay crispy for quite some time. I don't recommend beef here other than as machaca it isn't the best cut so it can be hit and miss. The French toast and pancakes really are done well, presented beautifully and worth getting. The cafe de olla is always really good, the perfect blend of spices every time whether iced or hot it's a must try. Fair warning it is a bit sweet. Beans, rice and omelettes are always done well and full of flavors, with crisp veggies and never too spicy. This place always has excellent service I've never had a bad experience. Such a great little gem! Authentic Mexican café vibes with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served all day. It gets busy, but I came after a morning run and was seated right away. We couldn't stop craving the enchiladas from our first visit. The sauces are incredibly flavorful and vibrant, way beyond your typical Mexican spot. The arroz con leche is perfection: creamy, perfectly sweetened, and the ideal way to end your meal. Don't skip their signature cafe de olla! Cafe de Olla in Burbank was the perfect spot for a long-overdue brunch with my in-laws. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated, highlights included the fajita omelette with fruits (10/10!) and the Del Norte Combination (10/10). The San Ignacio and steak and eggs were also hits. Service was outstanding from start to finish... Frank and Jose (and all the staff) were really friendly, attentive, and quick. The atmosphere was cozy, with plenty of street parking nearby. My husband's family had been here before and loved it, and now I see why. Great food, great service, and great vibes... definitely a brunch spot worth returning to! I've been coming here infrequently the last couple of years for their food and am reminded every time why I don't come as often... the wait time! Yes their food is good, specifically their chilaquiles and their iced cafe de olla coffee. You average 45 minutes to an hour wait time in the hot sun standing on weekends. Limited street parking, crammed eating area inside and outside. Service varies sometimes they're nice and sometimes they just seem overwhelmed and distant. Casual place with good brunch food! read more
