I so love it when businesses do everything so well that I'm able to write the glowing reviews. We had been to Coffee N' Comics pre-pandemic as who doesn't like coffee and comics together and I love cool stuff.  Here is a very cool idea brought to life.   All my family is fully vaccinated so we've been going cautiously out-and-about.  On our most recent visit to Coffee N' Comics in Reno, Nevada they had service staff that graciously answered all our questions promptly which made a good first impression upon us.  Coffee N' Comics did what they agreed to do, they did it for the price they had agreed to up front, they did it within the time they said they would, they followed the pandemic rules, the place was clean, the ambiance is welcoming not hurried, and their customer service was adequate. Coffee N Comics is one of the favorite places of my teen son and I. We were there for the Grand Opening (my son was Spider-Man Noir), their first Story-Telling Night, and several other visits. When it came to finding a place for an outing for one of the homeschool groups I lead, it was an obvious choice! Only four families were able to attend on that evening, but it was a BLAST! Everyone else with us that night were there for the first time and every one of them can't wait to return! We played games for a couple of hours; the teens playing together and us moms enjoying several rounds of Uno. They provide the games. We all loved our drinks and other goodies. Coffee n Comics is one of the best places to have a fun family-friendly evening. I also discovered my new favorite drink on my next-to-last visit: Pomegranate Berry Ice Tea. Oh My...! We love their comic selection and all of the other nerdy goodies. What a selection! If you need a gift for someone who loves geeky things like my son and I, definitely go to Coffee N Comics! They have a lot of convenient plug ins at several tables in order to get some work done, especially during the weekdays. They also regularly have great events including Storytelling Night, Stand Up Comics, game nights, and more. You don't get these types of things just "anywhere". He was genuine and we enjoyed talking with him during our visit. We went with his recommendation of Turtoise green chai. If you like sweet chai you should get your chai on here. The drink is rich!! I was impressed & could not stop sipping on the foam, so I highly recommend not ordering a flat chai!! Each flavor is named after an endangered species, and fact sheets are at the register. David Rio chai company annually donates to the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) for elephant and tiger programs. There's parking all around the plaza. Once you get inside you are welcomed with roomy seating variation. There's the bar lined with comic books and snazzy storm trooper wallpaper lining. Patrons are also welcome to create your own hand turkeys to post on the shop window for Turkey day, so draw one while you can!! It was therapeutic and nostalgic and the creativity paired well with my chai on such a chilly fall day. The community corner lists weekday events and not cluttered with local postings. This place is pretty darn cool. I'm not into the comics, like at all, but I have to say the decor, the tables, the comic books to read, is pretty fun. I came in for the official grand opening, and they were packed, in a good way. They have some really cool art hanging on the walls. Storm trooper hats in glass cubes. The tables are pretty large for a group of people, and the chairs looked really comfortable. I overheard a group talking about bringing in Dungeons and Dragons to play. There's a stage that looks perfect for maybe poetry readings or even a live band. There's a pretty large outdoor area for sitting and sipping coffee as well. I decided to go with a pumpkin spice latte. I probable should have just had plain black coffee. I didn't care for my drink very much. But I think that's 100% my fault. I wanted it to be on the lighter side, so I did fat free milk and no whip. It was really sweet. And my taste has just changed over the years. I'd like to go back and try a plain coffee to see how that really tastes. This place is cool, quirky and pretty fun. I've never seen anything like it. You should check it out. read more

This is such a perfect niche coffee spot for comic lovers of all types! They have amazing drinks and their baristas and bartenders make the environment even greater. Filled with games, movies playing in every corner, little bunches of Knick-knacks (of course, comic themed) make this the perfect coffee shop. I can go to Coffee N' Comics for a quick pick-up, an after work drink, hang out with friends, relax with my favorite book, study, do research, whatever! Which is especially helpful with their free wifi- and it's fast reliable which is rare to find sometimes. Calling all Geeks and Nerds! Cultivated in the western Moana region lies a quaint new coffee shop that will make even the worst of the gremlins scream with glee. Before even stepping through the front door you are hit with a huge sign Coffee N Comics in text book super hero font so you will definitely know your at the right spot. I was greeted by two coffee artist/ baristas that kindly reviewed the menu with me and all the assortments of tea they carry. I believe one was named DThe options were endless. I settled with the pomegranate iced tea and iced chai and was also able to sample the coffee as well. Best Pomegranate tea is ever had. No sugar needed. So freakin good! Now the chai I had was also of super hero quality. Definitely a power house in the umami knock out department. Some may say it's the super hero we needed but the super hero we didn't deserve! Well balanced and very crisp. Perfect in cold form or hot. Coffee taste pretty good. Not a big coffee drinker but they do have almond milk as a substitute which is good for me (and my Girlfriend lol) and my sensitivity to lactose. I realized half way through my dark coffee bean nectar of Neptune himself, I need to relieve myself and quick. I wobbled my way to the back of the shop where I am met with 2 gender neutral choices. One bathroom would take me to hogwarts sending my excrete down to the ministry of magic in its Harry Potter themed bathroom while the other would have me saving the world one yellow beam at a time in its superhero themed bathroom. Long story short I decided to wear the sorting hat and use my patronus charm to summon my finless brown nose down the tube all the way to Cornelius Fudge himself. Bathrooms are a solid 5/5. Will poop again! As for the store it's self. Plenty of space to roam in and seats for your coffee and comic book pleasures. Plenty of local nerd art to buy and retail items for your buying pleasure as well. Overall this is a great new coffee shop that serves people of all backgrounds. I do here from rumors that they are going to serve pastries soon as well as looking into having beer on tap soon but who knows? Foodie J umami scale 8.9/10. I will be back indefinitely and I will bring my old magic cards and start challenge if people there lol or not. But I will definitely return. P.S. It was morning so not busy. I was glad to find something open. I know nothing about cartoons so not able to give a review on that. Hardly anything vegan. My food was very expensive for what was served. I was able to get avocado toast w/o honey, tho. It was good, but quite pricey for me. They are still using styrofoam, but luckily, one server was helpful & found a paper box for me to take it out in. That was a plus. The other server was rather stoic & not very pleasant. read more

I had been meaning to give this place a try before Match 2020. Now that things are getting back to normal, I went in to have coffee and play cribbage with a friend. The interior is set up to facilitate your gaming and/or workspace needs. The busy environment was just right for me. The steady flow of coffee seekers, beer drinkers, and socializers made this a fun spot to spend a few hours. I was also stoked to see Mother of Macros vegan donuts for sale. I can't believe it took me so long to make it in here. It's the best of both worlds, an awesome comic and hobby shop, and a devious and unique little coffee shop. I got the wild berry chai which had the familiar spicy taste of a chai latte with a refreshing berry flavor. The staff was able to make helpful suggestions and recommendations to our drinks and really tailored them to our wants. I loved the fun little ideas they implemented as well, like the wheel of indecision, for people like me who want to try it all. Hands down my favorite local business of all time. Just calling it a coffee shop is selling it short. They have a huge selection of comic books that you can read while you wait and drink your coffee, as well as board games to play. I've been a huge nerd my entire life and every time I step foot in here, I feel at home. The baristas are all so happy and friendly, and they're service is exquisite. One time, I was even served a latte from a Pikachu. Plus this is one of the few places where I can wear my nerdy graphic tee's, and they'll understand the references. I bring my friends and family here every chance I can get, and we're never disappointed. They have some of the largest selection of drinks I've seen, as well as plenty of snacks from other local business. They serve beer and wine too, so it's also a chill spot to spend an afternoon with your buddies and watch a superhero movie or anime on their TVs. The patrons all seem to have a great time as well. It's the prefect place to go if you want to do your homework or want to play a few games of Magic: The Gathering. Another reason why I love this place is the sense of community. They host community events like Bob Ross Painting, Open Mic Stand-Up/Storytelling, Super Smash Brothers tournaments, and much more. They also promote lots of art pieces from local artist, and I'm sure they appreciate the support. When the pandemic first hit, the owners did everything they could to keep the communities' spirits up, and I'm so thankful for their presence here in Reno, NV. Place is super clean. Parking is hard. Great plus is they have alternative milk. Just like all places being lactose sucks because it's an extra charge. Got the white mocha and oat milk was alright. Ambiance is good if you wanna play card games or board games. They have a lot of couches to sit and chill with friends. Staff is friendly and super helpful. That's great. This place has coffee and comics (obviously) but it also has food options, squashy couches, great music playing, and movies that show on TV screens. I am not a comic book collector but I had heard that the coffee here was legit. My vanilla latte was one of the best I have ever had and I enjoyed sipping it while I took everything in. I think there is a ton of potential in this place but at the moment, it's a bit sparse. There are comic books and collectibles but most of the space is used for tables and the coffee bar. Oh man does this place tickle my fancy! This reminds me of a cool place you find in Portland OR. I don't even know where to start with my review so I'll try to organize my thoughts in my usual fashion. Atmosphere: roomy, fun, lots to see and explore, great place to hang out, great place to study. Staff: super cool, welcoming and friendly!They've been open 3 months and I truly hope this place is a success! Menu: I was SO surprised at how much they offer! I only ordered the Rose Chai for myself and a S'mores latte for my daughter and both were hot and SO delicious! This IS our weekly study spot from here on out. We have been to Starbucks, Hub, Bibo's, which I enjoy but this place is more comfortable, more roomy, had many more drink offerings and has the most delicious Chai Tea I've ever had. Also, huge amazing donuts, and some other yummy looking offerings. I can't wait to bring others here. They have entertainment, shows, games, events... It has taken me some time to find the perfect spot to work on a long-term project, and amidst the era of Covid, I have been pretty particular, needing a place that had the right energy and safety measures in place. After scouring various local shops, I found Coffee N' Comics and am an official convert. They have stellar service; the folks that run the shop are friendly, funny, and kind. You can tell they have great relationships with their patrons. The nerdy ambiance speaks my geek heart and specific project perfectly: from comic books and local art all pertaining to films and stories we all love, to the Harry Potter and Marvel-themed bathrooms--this place is a true gem. The food they serve is fantastic; perfect fare for a café. I love that they have an extensive coffee and beer menu. Usually I start with coffee and end with a brew, so having diversity in their offerings makes it a great place to hang out for awhile. I have also noticed that most of their customers are kind, considerate humans--which is always a plus. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won't regret it. read more

This place is awesome. While I've not come to any of their game or comedy nights - I appreciate a local coffee shop being open late! They also have beer and wine available and consistently offer food. They carry a series of breakfast sandwiches and pastries. The breakfast sandwiches are good - maybe not anything special - but you're getting exactly what you expect. They carry Mother of Macros doughnuts - aka clean cheats which are a lot sugar, higher protein option and are delicious! They also carry a ton of different lattes - some of which are sugar free which is nice! I am not a comics fan but still enjoy the place. The location is on a pretty busy street and the parking lot can be crowded but still manageable. Worth the time it takes to navigate! I haven't met the owner but in the middle of the pandemic, they did spend a dollar get a dollar where they encouraged people to shop at other local businesses so that was pretty cool in my book! read more

We decided to do the Yelp Out and About Pride Party (to benefit OUR Center), an event that's going on until the 24th of July (2021). There are twenty some venues that are participating in this event, and Coffee N' Comics happened to be one of them. I'm sooo happy put them on the top of our "to go there" list! Walking in, it is very comfortable. To the left are couches and tons of comics on the wall to purchase, and also it appeared that were board games to play as well (not 100 on that, but it looked that way). To the right is the bar area. The event has the participants make or have different Pride specials. Coffee N' Comics had a spectacular special- the "EqualiTEA". This is a 24 ounces of delightfulness (is that a word? I don't care) in a cup. Pomegranate berry red tea with white peach, whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. Now, I'm not a sweet person, but I will say this was very good and it quenched my thirst on this hot day! Staff was so very friendly and welcoming! We will most definitely be back, and I'll be playing one of those board games (charge me if I'm not supposed to play with them, lol). I can see why it has a solid five stars! read more

Absolutley love this place! A buddy of mine told me about this, and I can't believe I waited so long to check them out. I am a huge fan of the David Rio Chai, but not many places offer it, so I am so glad that is what is used here. It's one of the only places in Reno that really lets me feel good in the anime community. It is slightly pricey for the drinks, but it offers so many cool things, it is so worth it. There's games, comics, manga, anything you can think of. I will definitely be back many many times. read more

I stopped in for the third time last weekend to take part in their Pride fundraiser. The lemonade was delicious and so colorful! As usual, I was greeted with a smile and helpful advice when asked. They are busier are Sunday than they were midweek. Most of the tables were occupied, and I tried the same drink I had previously. Turns out their Stormtrooper Frappe does NOT have coffee in it, so I appreciated the offer they made to add cold brew. Unfortunately, it was mostly a watery, icy, tasteless drink. I'm really bummed that businesses think a drizzle of sugary topping or cute colors is a sound menu decision. I The bagel was toasted, and while barely crisped or golden it was serviceable and came with a generous potion of cream cheese.
