I have been a fan of the McCully location for a long time and was so happy when the Aiea location opened. The shop is clean and service is very quick and friendly. This location is more relaxed than McCully location. Other boba shops in the area do not compare. I have to recommend the pudding milk tea. The pudding is sweet, texture is soft and the pudding pieces are big. The flavor of milk tea is divine- thank you for getting it right every time and using actual brewed tea (not powder). It was a really hot day and we ordered the lychee black tea with boba. ambiance: somewhat dark, it was 3pm on a working day and there wasn't anyone else there, not sure what its like when its busy tea: tea was fine (i'd say 7/10) and not too sweet which is a big plus in my book. I hate to be a naysayer; I'm a bit of a boba snob, sorry, coming from California where it's pretty popular and competitive. It's not my fault! I just feel CoT is just okay to me. Even for the island, Coffee or Tea is just so-so. I like the location. It's convenient, parking is plenty though competitive depending on the hours. The decor inside is inviting and comfortable for just chatting with someone. (It's not too hot inside although sometimes the A/C goes out. Old buildings I guess.) Some power outlets, free wifi. The drinks I have had here are a bit milky and too sweet. I think I am more interested in tea flavor than artificial sweeteners and sugars. I have had a Wintermelon Milk Tea which I nursed for hours waiting for the ice to melt so that it would dilute the sweetness. It's also a bit pricy compared to Tea Time, even with a 10% off after check in or happy hour. Like one reviewer commented, the bathroom is a pain to get to, you have to ask for a key and go through some unmarked doors on the side of the Powerhouse Gym. I had a pretzel looking croissant stuffed with cheese. It was about $4.70, and tasted like it was previously frozen. Their cheesecakes look better but I haven't had any. For Aiea, Tea Time Taiwan is better. Compared to places in town, Taste Tea and Shaka Shaka are better. Shaka Shaka even uses real fruit and not powder. For my money, I will try to find my drink but I don't think I've found it yet. read more

Coffee or Tea? That's the question. Actually, the question is more like Coffee, tea, shaved ice, cheesecake, Smoothie or Shake, Tapioca pearls or no pearls, coffee jello, custard pudding, or thick toast???! This is what goes through my brain right before entering the store. I'm an indecisive mess because I want almost everything every time I go. Drinks are large and can come in larger gallon-sized containers for sharing (of course!). Each item is packed with flavor. Seating is limited and a bit cramped. Its not a place to spend long hours sitting and working or reading. I like taking advantage of their happy hour discounts. This is one of my top three bubble tea places. I've been here multiple times and they are consistently good. I also like how they have fresh watermelon juice and smoothies when it is in season. Their coffee jelly is also really good. The only drawback for me is they only accept cash. I don't always carry cash on me, so I need to make sure to stop by an ATM before stopping by. read more

Just happened to be in the Pearlkai shopping center for dinner and saw that Coffee or Tea? opened a second location. I was ecstatic! I no longer need to drive into town to get great milk tea with boba. The staff doesn't speak great English but communicate fine. Ample seating area, parking can be a hustle if it's a busy time at the shopping center, and cash only. Prices are reasonable for the quality!! I was so excited to know that they opened a location in pearl kai shopping center because it's closer to home :) Drinks range from $3-$6 depending on what you order and what size etc. My favorite drinks here are the green tea shake & original milk tea both WITH tapioca pearls! Their tapioca pearls are my FAVORITE - so flavorful and the perfect texture. When I went in today I saw a sign saying you get 10% off any drink Monday-Friday if you post / have them on Instagram or Facebook :) also 10% off if you check in on Yelp! Also, cash only! Whoever says they don't like it here obviously have been ordering the wrong things in my opinion or mixing the wrong things together BUT I can say you can honestly never go wrong with the tapioca pearls...it's seriously like no other! Its a happy day! My favorite bubble tea shop has made its way to the Aiea side. So much closer for me to get my milk tea fix. Good and bad at the same time. They're located in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center, in between Tadashi and the nail salon. Not unlike the the McCully location, the parking can be a bit of a bear just because there are so many restaurants in the same place. Nonetheless it doesn't and won't stop me from going. The space is larger with more tables to sit at. I never had complaints about service before at their other location and don't have anything bad to say about the service here. Big fan of the Assam milk tea. Reminded me of having a different flavored Thai iced tea. They have a wide range of drinks you could order from. You'll be spoiled for choices. Totally agree with Joseph L. -- coming from California, this place is super average. Also agree that Tea Time Taiwan is better, given the locale of the two places. Tried the papaya smoothie and jasmine green milk tea with custard and boba. Papaya smoothie was made with fresh fruit, however, the flavor is overtaken by whatever else is in it (we assumed vanilla ice cream, but not sure). The milk tea was average but really liked the custard. Boba was a good consistency -- not hard and not mushy. Cash only, which is a con in my book -- we never carry cash and had to run to an ATM machine. Overall, just super average. I usually order just a regular milk tea with no bubbles (because I am not a fan of tapioca to begin with). I really like the fact that I can order a gallon and take it home. I've only ordered the milk tea, and compared to many other milk tea cafes, there really isn't much of a difference. The boba however is not my favorite. The balls stick together, and quite often I find some that are actually hard. The sweetness of the milk tea is not always consistent, either. I prefer my tea to be 50% sweet, and about half the time, it's perfect. But other times, it's too sweet or not sweet enough. read more

I really wanted to like this place after reading all the reviews. The place is cozy, the milk tea was ok. 1 star because they forgot to give us change and when my husband realized he was $10 short he came back to ask, but some guy behind the counter came up and said "No, we gave you your change" and it wasn't even him that rang us up, it was a young woman. Very disappointing. I get that it was our fault too for forgetting to ask for the change, but at least don't lie about ringing people up. Wish they kept track of that kind of thing. I tried the same drink at the McCully location and it wasn't the same. I saw the worker squirt 2 pumps of the hazelnut syrup in my drink and it was too much. The next time I went I asked for one pump and it was better. BUT, theres something about the Pearl Kai location! The tea is so damn bomb, I can't.
