This is a hidden gem and one of my secret study spots in the area. This coffee shop and bookstore are located inside the Calvary church. There is ample parking for churchgoers and customers of the cafe. Service and Ambiance: Outstanding and super friendly staff. The best thing about this cafe is that no one really minds how long you stay, and I've never felt guilty buckling down here for a few hours to study. It gets a bit busy and noisy when there is a church service, but otherwise, it's usually quiet. There is lots of seating inside and outside. Seating ranges from high tops and standard tables to couches. Super cold AC, and free wifi and wall outlets. Price $-$$: Relatively affordable price for quality drinks. It is one of the few places where you'll be able to get coffee and matcha lattes for under $5. Food is also very reasonably priced. Food and Drinks: I ordered their matcha latte, tea, and coffee, which were all delicious. Coffee is strong and tastes as you would expect from Honolulu Coffee beans. I've also ordered their acai bowls and they were generous with portions. Overall, I'd recommend this cafe, especially if you're looking for an affordable coffee study spot without going into town.

Large Açaí Bowl. They had to cover it with foil to keep it closed.

By far the best place for açaí bowls. Never been more satisfied with their large açaí bowl. It is huge and worth the price. For once, I have gotten full off this bowl. The staff there were so friendly and helpful. I would definitely go again and I highly recommend this place. There are a lot of other foods and coffees that they have there also which I would like to try. More reason for me to go back.

Perfect place for everyone! Atmosphere was very friendly and cold AC. We ordered the Guava chicken plate that came with White rice, Cole slaw, and a drink-pssspt.. they have orange bang.... Go get your blessing experience here at Calvary Cafe and Bookstore!

I stumbled upon this place because I was looking for coffee shops in my neighborhood that wasn't Starbucks or Coffee Bean and I left pleasantly surprised! This cafe is in the same vicinity as the Calvary church, and upon entering I was welcomed by nice and friendly staff. I liked the array of fruits and fresh food that they had to offer in their display and I told myself to come back next time to try their açaí bowl and plate lunches! I also really liked that majority of their drinks were in the $5 range and that they used coffee beans from Honolulu coffee company. My latte came out nice and strong, but also delicious! I will be back! Thank you Calvary cafe!

I enjoy their food very much. They have such a variety of foods in a good price. I love their coffee is reasonable and it's very good quality. I also enjoyed my sunset smoothie as well I love they asked if I wanted whipped cream. The staff are so sweet and welcoming. I got my order right away. It's an amazing bookstore with so much variety of versions of the Bible with commentaries. They have supplies like highlighters and tabs too! I love the collection of authors and topics. Such a great place to study with a beautiful view. They also have couches to lounge as well. It's a place I enjoy to get my work done.

Service is great! Staff is super friendly, and food is delicious!! Gonna try their acai bowls. Good price and delicious. Generous portions too.

This is absolutely my favorite place to look for books on biblical studies, bibles and reference books written by renowned Bible scholars like RC Sproul, CS Lewis and Chuck Smith. A must visit place if you love Christian resources and apologetics. They also have good food at the cafe.

What a random find! I was filling up gas in Waipio and wanted to get coffee. There aren't too many coffee shops nearby in the area, but i was also planning on grabbing lunch in Aiea that day, so this was a very perfect find! It is located in-between Newtown and royal summit on church grounds. The church itself is HUGE! It appears they have a cafe, church itself, and a school. The cafe is right in the middle of it all with a large outdoor seating area. The location is very nicely manicured and lots of parking available. The coffee itself is from Honolulu coffee company and it seems cheaper! If i lived in the area i would totally go here all the time. Its way cheaper than going to Starbucks. 2.25 for a 8 oz latte is unheard of! They also have a glass case with fruits, salads, and sandwiches. On the TV screen there was one hot item of the day which was spaghetti. I skipped all of this since i was heading out to lunch. I would go again if im ever in the area and needing coffee, but otherwise i will stick to town cause it'll come out the same with gas money realistically.

Located at the Calvery Chapel of Honolulu on Komo Mai Drive in Aiea, this little bookstore/ Cafe is the perfect quiet little spot to stop in for a snack, quick lunch, and coffees. There's a pretty big parking lot, the bookstore/ Cafe is located to the left just as you enter the parking lot. There's a pretty good selection of Christian books, that I need to look through when I get a chance to visit on my own. My kids enjoy stopping here for a snack after the playground. There are a lot of tables and chairs to sit and relax outside. The prices here are very decent, and everything to eat and drink are great from sandwhiches, to fruits, parfaits, muffins, and then some. This has become one of my favorite spots to visit after playground time with my kids.

A true hidden gem in the Pearl City area! Koinonia Cafe is located in Calvary Chapel Honolulu, BUT you don't need to be a church member to go! They serve various cakes, muffins, sandwiches, plate lunch, açaí bowls, soft serve ice cream, and other snacks, but what they make best is their coffee. They serve Honolulu Coffee and make both hot and cold coffee drinks. You can customize with different syrup options (25¢ each) and they have a few alternative milk options too. They also serve milkshakes (no dairy-free option, unfortunately) that are basically frappuccinos. BUT everything is a LOT cheaper than Honolulu Coffee and Starbucks, but just as delicious. I've also heard a lot about their giant, delicious açaí bowls, but haven't tried them myself yet. I plan on doing soon! There is a large, free parking lot to park in. There is lots of available seating both inside and outside of the cafe, including couches too.

Finished up hiking the Waimano waterfall hike. Since my husband picked the hike I picked the coffee shop. I found it on Yelp. Wasn't sure what to expect as I scanned the Yelp reviews quickly. It was located in a church bookstore. There was plenty of parking outside. The grounds were so clean and manicured. They did have a really large nice bathroom outside the shop. The bookstore has lots of Christian based books and work guides. Christian talk radio was playing. The food and coffee drinks were very fairly and reasonably priced. This was refreshing. Lots of muffin, breakfast sandwiches and fruit. The lady working there was friendly and informative. I got the hot latte with almond milk. It tasted very weak and watered down but alas I just opted to drink it anyways. They use Honolulu coffee so not sure if that is the normal taste for that brand. They had lots of outdoor seating. Appeared to be a bible study going on outside. Clean with fair prices. If I go again I'd probably ask more questions about how the latte is made. My husband got plain coffee and enjoyed it.

This is the BEST kept secret in Pearl City! I LOVE this little café , I go there twice a week I think. First off LOCATION: So this cafe is located in the bookstore of the Calvary Chapel located off Komo Mai Drive in Aiea. You drive down the driveway, church is on your left and they have a nice big parking lot on the right. Park there and walk across the driveway to the bookstore/cafe. HOURS: I still have to call them each time I go as the cafe runs off of the church and school hours and if their chef/owner is there cooking or not. Best to call to make sure they are open and still serving the food you want. FOOD: OMGOSH! They have the biggest and best acai bowls ever! I literally have eaten dozens of them and I eat them so fast I have forgotten to take photos!!! ugh... I will get another one this week I am sure so I will edit this post. lol The large bowl is only $12 and comes with everything! Acai, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, coconut, granola, macadamia nuts, honey.. sooooo much goodness. They also have a lunch special every day. They just serve ONE hot item per day and it changes every day. The chef is amazing and the food is all over the place. Sometimes it is gourmet pizza slices, sometimes homemade meatloaf with garlic mash potatoes. That is why I call each time I go. 1-Find out what the special is and 2- make sure they still have as they sell out fast! They also have pastries, pies, salads, fountain drinks, bottled drinks, snacks etc. You can take your items to go or sit in their cute café /bookstore area. You don't need to be members of this church to enjoy the café. If you plan to go on Sundays, I think the café opens after church service and it can get busy. But it is a great environment, so go and enjoy!

The owner greeted me right away with that warm, aloha spirit energy. No attitude, no long drawn-out process. She got straight to scanning my old dusty books while I waited, and when she was done, she texted me -- yes, texted me -- to let me know. Walked up, got my receipt, got my quote. Super professional, super smooth. Here's the best part: while I was waiting, I browsed around and found three gifts for my grandchildren that I knew they'd love. So in one trip I freed up a ton of space at home from books that had been taking up way too much room and knocked out some gift shopping. Win-win-win! The whole setup is easy too -- rolled the carts right from my car into the store, no stress. My friend was chillin' in the massage chair outside the whole time, so nobody's time was wasted. I was originally just gonna dump everything at Goodwill. So glad I didn't. I'm already planning to come back with my old DVDs and CDs just sitting my shed in the backyard. If you've got stuff collecting dust at home, bring it here first. You might walk out with cash in your pocket and a smile on your face. Highly recommend. 5/5, no question!

When Jamie W and I heard that Josh Spencer, the owner of LA's legendary Last Bookstore (review:…read morehttps://yelp.to/PBt2J99ygG) had opened a bookstore in Honolulu, we decided to look for it on our recent Oahu adventure. It turned out to be in Downtown close to Chinatown. While it doesn't have the scale of the Last Bookstore, this store shares some of the unique design elements of its SoCal progenitor like curving shelves and large vinyl collection. A broad scan of the books on display reflects titles that seem more avant garde than more commercial curations with sections devoted to science fiction, horror, true crime, and rock music. Jamie found an existential book about his favorite band called "Queen and Philosophy" (Photo 9), while I bought an intriguing manga cosplay history book called "Otaku Japan" (Photo 5). We probably could've spent another hour in here, but we had manapua on our minds. RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://yelp.to/n9JWu5nlzl

The store blends two cultures that often go hand in hand: underground literature and vinyl records. The space itself feels very curated. Instead of a large commercial bookstore layout, the shop has a smaller, more intentional selection of titles and records that reflect niche interests, counterculture themes, and independent publishing. It feels like a place built for people who enjoy digging through shelves to discover something unexpected. One of the highlights is the mix of books and vinyl. The store carries everything from rare or independent books to records that span multiple genres, which creates an environment where music and literature intersect. Browsing through the collection feels more like exploring a curated archive than a traditional retail store. The atmosphere fits well with the Chinatown neighborhood. Bethel Street has a strong creative and artistic identity, and Skull-Face Books & Vinyl contributes to that scene with its alternative aesthetic and independent spirit. What stood out most to me was how personal the shop feels. Independent stores like this often reflect the personality of the people behind them, and that character comes through clearly in the selection and layout. Overall, Skull-Face Books & Vinyl is a great place to explore if you are in Chinatown and enjoy independent bookstores, vinyl records, and creative spaces that feel a little different from mainstream retail shops.

One thing that stood out to me is how the store still maintains the traditional bookstore experience even though it is located inside a busy shopping center. In more recent years, FLH opened a year-round used bookstore: Village Books and Music, first at the old Pier One, then a terrific space in Ward Centre next to Sedona.
