I love Bluestone Lane and I was so glad they have one inside the Westin in DTLB, near my work. However, I'm very conflicted with this place. The service and quality are not always consistent and it really depends on who makes the drinks. I don't see the same staff all the time and I really one the two young ladies with cool hair to make my drinks.. When they take my orders and make my drinks, they usually come out fast and taste delicious. I love their simple breakfast menu and one thing I'm a bit disappointed about this location is probably because they are inside a hotel, so they don't have the full menu and new drinks like their other location in old town Orange. Their coffee is still roasted in Brooklyn. They utilize high quality ingredients, and are equipped with top tier Italian machinery, so you're guaranteed a great drink. This location is inside the Westin in downtown Long Beach. You do not need to be staying at the hotel to come here; it's downstairs in the lobby. There is a massive amount of seating, all drenched in sunlight. For downtown Long Beach, it's a nice ambience. It's an Australian place, so I felt obligated to get an Australian espresso classic: The Flat White. If you are unfamiliar, this is an espresso drink with half the amount of milk as a latte (and no foam), allowing for a stronger espresso flavor. I got it with oat milk, and it was exceptional. The barista was genuinely friendly, and knew how to make a perfect drink. Skip the Avocado Toast. It was ~$13 for a piece of barely toasted bread that tasted like cardboard. It was topped with a decent amount of avocado, plus micro greens and chili flakes, but come on: you can easily make this at home. read more

I had a 12oz flat white with almond milk and their Breakfast croissant (with fluffy eggs, cheddar cheese, arugula and a bit of vegemite mayo. I was curious as I have never tasted vegemite (but always heard horrible things about it). Let me tell you this was delicious! Very filling too. I ate half before I remembered to give this place a stellar review. Other breakfast options all sounded delicious and reasonably priced as well. Interesting location inside the Westin off Ocean. Rode my bike to check it out. Very open, airy and clean space being in the hotel's lobby. Huge windows over looking lush gardens and courtyard. They have what seemed to be a nice selection of drinks on the menu and some pastries in the glass case as well. I was surprised to see they serve breakfast and thought to try their bacon, egg and cheese croissant. Asked what flavored lattes they have and was disappointed. Maybe they are short on supplies today, because they said they only had vanilla and mocha. I opted for the vanilla and it wasn't as hot as it could be. A click above warm, but not hot. The sandwich was good, but very hard to eat as it just fell apart so easily, but I had a fork and knife so I made due cutting it half and eating the scrambled egg that fell out. I think it would have been better if the scrambled egg wasn't so crumbly. The croissant wasn't flaky, rather soft. Overall, the sandwich was kind of dense and mushy. read more

Why 5 stars? Because the nitro was great. --- --- --- My experience here was very brief. I was staying at the Renaissance and opted to walk over here, rather than patronize Starbucks from my hotel. I ordered my go-to nitro and thought it was excellent. It was weird that they put ice in it, but it didn't really bother me. The flavor of the beans was ideal, so I was a happy and caffeinated camper. My husband and I came here on a whim because we are in the middle of a serious diet (i.e., hangry AF) and needed a little pick-me-up. We were greeted by the most pleasant baristas, who showered our little doggies with verbal affection upon arrival. They also made our drinks super quick. Our drinks were both delicious. My sister enjoyed her burger, my dad enjoyed his sandwich, and I enjoyed the egg scramble on multigrain. I wouldn't say anything was outstandingly superb or unique. The chili scramble was too spicy for my dad (he is getting older and cannot handle a lot of spice anymore) but a fine level for me, although the chili oil/sauce tasted like instant ramen seasoning (it's a yummy taste but I'm not trying to taste instant ramen in a $16 dish). Our main server was sweet and attentive, but another server seemed very flustered and frustrated the whole time. No issue, just didn't know. The atmosphere in the Westin is very welcoming. I was torn between a few options and the barista explained in more detail a couple of dishes. I got the peanut butter and berries toast. HOLY MOLY. Incredible. Peanut butter, fresh strawberries and raspberries, mint that absolutely makes the flavors POP, and drizzled with honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Also got a draught oat flat white that is delicious. Partner got the bacon croissant breakfast sandwich and it was also just out of this world good. I'm always intrigued by a new coffee place, especially if it's within walking distance from work. This place is tucked inside the Westin, a counter set against the west entrance of the hotel. They have a simple menu of foods (mainly topped toasts), and a bakery case with a variety of croissants (Nutella, Plain, Everything, one other savory flavor), Kouign Amann, vegan donuts, and chocolate chip cookies. Their bakery case is limited, so don't expect a replenishment. With this being in a hotel with foot traffic and out of towners there for conferences, expect sell outs of food. They were out of nutella croissants when I was there this morning. On the recommendation of the friendly staff, I got the prosciutto toast because I love prosciutto. With that small drizzle of honey, it didn't disappoint. It's a small but filling portion with balanced flavors. Great recommendation. The iced latte I got was also pretty smooth. If I was finally going to give vegemite toast or a Flat White a try I'd probably give it a go here, over Starbucks. THINGS OF NOTE: CASHLESS payments only! Luckily I had my phone with me so I could use apple pay. Prices are on the higher side, since lest you forget, you're purchasing food and drink in a hotel, but ultimately it's a nice change from my typical desk salad or jimmy johns sandwich. Found this spot walking distance from my hotel. Plenty of seating throughout the entire hotel lobby. I got a mocha, not my usual go-to, but it sounded good. They were on the busier side for the two baristas working, but they were flying through drinks & remained positive! I also got a croissant sandwich that was soooooooo good. Pretty positive my gluten free toast request was ignored. 1) because I saw the dude start to make it, the person taking my order advised him of the allergy and then he kept making the order. So no change was made from the toast he has already put out- which is regular toast since gf has to be requested. 2) because I'm covered in psoriasis patches that I get from consuming gluten- which I don't eat anymore and this is my only possible contamination. I tried the Avocado and Romesco Toast, and it was amazing! The roasted red-pepper romesco adds a slightly sweet taste, but it's not overwhelmingly sweet at all. The soft herbs & feta was delicious with the toast as well. The whole grain bread has sesame, which adds a nice toasty taste. The server was really nice! Decent coffee if you're looking for a strong roast. The highlight for me here was the avocado toast with the works which included prosciutto and feta. This toast was surprisingly more decorated than I was expected. For the price, it felt very reasonable. I was a little disappointed in the cold brew tea that I ordered which ended up not being cold brewed, it still got the job done, but was disappointing considering I was told after ordering. Expect a wait here as there may only be 1 or 2 workers here at a time it seems. For a hotel coffee shop, this place is better than most I've seen. read more

MVP award goes to the AM barista who got through 7-10 pushy flight attendants and crew yesterday. One of my biggest pet peeves is when folks in service industries do not respect each other. The barista took a bunch of flack with a smile and grace, remaking some of the orders. My order got lost in the shuffle but both folks behind the bar were apologetic. They have a decent looking omnivore menu with various breakfast toasts with things like prosciutto and avocado. I didn't want anything to eat at the time but I did notice there is a vegan cereal option with oat milk automatically on the menu which is awesome. The cafe uses califas almond milk which works for me. They also have their own pressed juices. I ended up with an almond milk latte and a green juice. Both were the pick me up I needed before a long drive home. There are small tables on the side near the pick up window or you can potentially sit in the breakfast/ bar area of the hotel. Definitely would order again if I stayed at the hotel. read more

This is a wonderful new coffee shop located inside the Westin's beautiful new lobby. My husband had the Aussie latte which is a latte topped with a scoop of ice cream. I had one of the most delicious fresh iced chai lattes with almond milk. We were not hungry enough to try their extensive menu of fresh toasts and pastries, but we will definitely return. The service and quality puts this our new favorite coffee shop in Long Beach. read more

Tucked away in the Westin hotel we have Bluestone Lane Coffee. A coffee shop I'd never seen before but apparently have been there for a few months now. Better signage should help drive more attention to them. Because I love coffee and I'm always on the hunt for a new coffee shop, I had to try them and I am not disappointed! I got served a great tasting latte using beans from New Zealand and Colombia. Silky smooth! I can't say it's better than Rose Park or Lord Windsor but it's definitely a contender. A friend who stayed at the Westin turned me into this new shop last week. I went in on Sunday to try it out as a treat to myself and it turned out to be exactly that, a treat. The staff is suuuuuuper friendly, the coffee is really great (giving all of the other downtown shops a run for their money), and the prices were very reasonable, especially being in the lobby of a Westin. I liked it so much that the following morning I took my friend from out of town here cause she tryuly loves coffee. I had the banana toast and a flat white, and my boyfriend had a golden latte and the avocado toast with the lot and added a poached egg. It was definitely expensive, but we really enjoyed the food and it was quite satisfying. While the drinks were good, they tasted almost exactly the same? Making me think that either the golden latte has barely any spices added to it, or the barista accidentally made a regular latte instead. While the counter seating & plastic utensils weren't very comfortable (these types of toasts need real silverware), the general ambiance in the hotel lobby was very nice and we sat at the couches to the side of the cafe afterwards and it was very comfortable a nice way to spend the morning.
