Stopped by for some pastries and coffee and have to say: this place is doing it right. I ordered their single-origin cold brew along with their pan Dulce and an apricot cake. I was sharing with my dad and the barista was nice enough to serve the pastries split in half. The pan dulce was a fancier take than what you'd expect from a traditional panadería. Not pastores were delicious and kinda dense so it worked well when dipping the pastry into the coffee. Rich, deep taste in the cold brew. The inside of the cafe had a decent amount seating downstairs and upstairs as well. More of a place to catch up with friends than work on a laptop imo. Whenever I'm in the Mission, Grand Coffee is my go-to spot. I love the decor and the overall vibe! It feels intentional and welcoming, and honestly just a place I feel good supporting. The coffee and service are both consistently great. The staff are always friendly, and the drinks come out quickly. My go-to is the GC Tonic. It has the perfect caffeine kick, and as someone who loves espresso tonics, this one really hits the spot. It's refreshing, balanced, and not overly sweet. pretty tiny space, I saw the baristas chatting with customers so that was a nice touch. the menu is simple but they offer soy milk and specialty syrups! I got an iced soy latte ($6.50) and it was delicious, love the beans they use. the cup size is also pretty big and not packed with ice! read more

I was influenced by tik tok to try and while it didn't knock my socks off it was still a pleasant experience! It's a small shop with really cool interior design. Not a million things on the menu but you don't need a million things. They cover all the coffee basics (latte, espresso, iced coffee etc). I got the iced coffee with rose cardamom syrup and it was pleasant! The coffee was on the lighter side - didn't have the strong coffee roast flavor, but that could just be my preference. You'll get more rose in the syrup than cardamom which is fantastic if you're a rose person. I personally love trying new coffee shops and I'm glad I got to try this one! While I wouldn't make a long trip to grab a cup I would certainly get one if I was nearby again. read more

This place is so fun and quirky. Half coffee shop, half art gallery. The layout changes every time but there is outdoor and indoor seating (you can even sit at the coffee "bar"). The service is always quick and super friendly. The coffee is really good and you can get it to stay or to go. They have different drink specials each time that are pretty unique. Wawaweewa! Had some time before our movie yesterday and stopped in since we hadn't met our coffee quota for the day (we only had 5oz of coffee to start our day), and wawaweewa this was such an exceptional coffee shop. There is also a lil gallery and creative makers shop with art, zines, clothes, items for crafting, and all sorts of other locally hand made goods, with very valid, tho sometimes, really high prices. Seems like there's a solid community in this coffee shop too, staff and guests seemed familiar with one another, which is comforting to witness. Now for the cawwwffeee tho....I only got to try one drink but I'm so pressed to go back to SF for more. Got the signature iced piña vanilla latte, and gawd darrrnnnnn it was so exceptional. I never in my life thought something so sweet AND acidic like pineapple would pair with espresso so well, and the vanilla ties it all together, like vanilla so often does. Really masterfully done, and it kinda feels like a diner in there too, there are bar seats around the central POS and espresso making area, which fosters interactions between the staff and other members of the community. Kinda revived modernism meets skate shop aesthetic. Really liked the overall vibe, people seemed genuine. Looking forward to coming back, trying more menu items, and saving some money to buy myself something from the local artist's handmade shop. read more

My husband and I were looking for a local coffee shop to support and we decided on this one! It was a very short walk from our apartment which was very convenient. It's a small space but very cozy and welcoming. I ordered a sweetened iced matcha latte with whole milk. Note that they do not have soy milk but they do have oat milk as an alternative. I love the coffee at Grand, their espresso is toasty, creamy and smooth but gives me that nice caffeinated feeling that I expect from coffee. The cortados, cappuccinos and lattes always hit. Grand is a chill, low key, locals coffee spot that's a little hip and has some edge to it without having the barista talking down to you or acting too cool for school. Everyone has always been friendly, helpful and warm in my experience. The whole beans which I usually purchase at Rainbow is my preferred coffee in the morning and smells so good. La Llave, Las Pilas and Lights on are the names of the coffee beans I like to buy and it's just my kind of coffee! I'm not a huge fan of having notes of grapefruit, melon, etc. I enjoy nutty, caramely, chocolatety, toasty, warm, cozy notes with a bite. Came by for coffee the other day and it was an excellent experience! Street parking is available. Staff behind the window didn't wear a mask and didn't wear gloves. The Grand Coffee stand is literally a hole-in-the-wall coffee shop next to a defunct movie theatre with window service only. (The interior of the coffee shop was closed). There was a bench in front of the window for those to sit down and enjoy their coffee. Ordered the mocha and it came out perfect! The foam was very thick. The latte art was excellent! The temperature was excellent and most importantly the chocolate wasn't too sweet! Ordered a pastry that was more like a cruffin and it was also excellent! Oh, how I love this place. The perfect pit stop on the way to the 24th Street BART. Pros: - The staff are SO kind. I always leave feeling so joyous after chatting with the folks working there. - You can add any non-dairy or plant milk to your drink free of charge! The staff also ask for your feedback when putting anything into your drink, which is so considerate & prevents a scenario where your coffee is too bitter/sweet/milky. I love putting oat milk in my Americanos and cold brews. - They have a lot of exciting weekly pop-ups with local bakeries; see their Instagram story to order ahead! - Way more affordable than other artisan cafés in the Mission, but still extremely high quality with a wide variety of tasting notes in their blends. Cons: - The shop is literally a hole in the wall, so you need to take up sidewalk space to wait. Sometimes waiting is a bit unpleasant on days when there's construction on 22nd. Only one person at a time can order at the window, and there's limited space to loiter nearby. There often isn't a line if you go during non-peak hours, so usually not a problem. - The daily pastry selection when there isn't a pop-up is quite limited. read more

Located on Mission Street (a few blocks north of the 24th Street BART station), Grand Coffee is a small shop that offers your usual coffee/espresso based-drinks. They also offer non-coffee beverages if that's your jam, but my guess that if you are choosing to visit a place with "coffee" in the title, you are looking for a cup of Joe. I've tried their regular coffee and their Americano, and I thought both were well done. The Americano was smooth and not overly acidic, and the coffee was good even without cream and sugar. They offer Cuban pastries as well, and while I haven't tried them, I thought it was great that they offered something different than your usual cafe snacks. The service has been consistently friendly when I've visited, and there's a casual and welcoming vibe to the place that makes it very appealing. It's a small space, so I don't think it'd be great if you are looking for a place to work for long periods of time. However, you should definitely check it out if you're in the area! read more
