After making an appointment in person and using them on the past I had the worst experience possible. I am covered through General Visiion Services from my Union. Cohens is listed as a network provider (used this location just last year). I arrived on time for my appointment and was asked to fill out additional paperwork after waiting 40 minutes to be seen ( at one point you could see the optometrist sitting reading the paper while everyone is waiting) I was told I was next. Finally the optometrist comes out but he goes over to one of the employees who then comes to me without explanation and says we don't take this plan. They clearly do as advertised on their website and in store. No explanation total disgrace and waste of my time. Rude, rude , rude and dismissive. read more

First I would like to say that Carlos was very nice when I spoke to him on 1/6 to cancel my appointment. He stated that I could reschedule for Sunday 1/7 or Thursday 1/11. I made an appointment for 1/7. I get there and am told that the doctor called in sick. Okay so no one thought to periodically check the Sunday afternoon schedule and inform those scheduled not to come. That is bad business. Unable to see properly, I had taken a Lyft there and had to take public transportation back home. A simple call, text, or email would have been greatly appreciated. I can't say anything about the two employees that were behind the counter because they didn't appear to be seasoned enough to care about my coming in for nothing. No apology given for me wasting my time or anything. I was disappointed to say the least. I'm not sure if this was an isolated incident but I recommend better communication between patron and the business when something changes with a scheduled appointment. read more

I noticed a review stating the "rudest phone conversation ever". I had exactly the same experience trying to get information. I inquired about insurance coverage and first spoke to a gentleman who tried to help, then abruptly left and I waited, and waited, and waited, after 2 or three minutes I hung up and called back. this time a woman answered the phone. After i explained i was seeking inf on insurance. she very rudely, and in a patronizing tone said" My Dear !! we do not take that insurance." Really ? ! My dear , I did not realize we were on such familiar terms How patronizing and rude . this person hasnn't a clue how to approach a prospective new or not new customer She should be fired...I wouldn't give them my business if they were the last place on earth to provide glasses. I went to Cohen's for my annual eye check and after getting it completed one of the ladies at the store (DIANA) helped me. She was very good and patient with me, let me try all the frames I liked and recommended some others until I picked up one. Then she advised about materials and coatings without being pushy trying to upsell everything. She made it very enjoyable getting my new glasses!! so if you need help ask for Diana!!! read more

We went here with a friend who needed new glasses. I love looking at frames so we browsed around while she was checking out the inventory. The first thing that I noticed was that virtually none of the frames were accessible without help from a sales associate. While understand that this is because they are trying to reduce losses from shoplifting, there is an optical shop on Las Olas with much higher end frames that allows easy access to most of the styles. They had most of the "right" names, if you're looking for designer frame, i.e. Michael Kors, Prada, D&G, etc., but the styles were strictly average. In the entire inventory, I didn't see a single pair that I would choose to wear. There was essentially no "bling" available. I know sparkle isn't for everyone, but there are a lot of us who like frames that are more fun. Those are not here. On the better side of the store, the staff was friendly and helpful. After my friend selected her frames, they didn't try to give her 6 different up-sells to boost the price. The prices were about average for designer frames. If you're looking for basic designer styles, this isn't a bad place to go. read more

I went here for an eye exam for glasses and only paid $35! The exam was virtual with a lady helping me through a screen but they still wrote prescription and overall I am very happy. Other places wanted to charge me $100 for an eye glass exam. I highly recommend this place! read more

I've been coming here for years and recently they did switch to more modern technology such as remote view and controlled exams. Vinny is cream of the crop and one of the most helpful and professional people I've ever dealt with. Even when I ran into some issues with my prescription he went above and beyond with getting me taken care of and making sure I was happy. I had some issues with frames that I chose after a couple weeks with new glasses and went in today with no appointment at all, but Iris was there and immediately took care of me and worked hard to make sure I felt taken care of and got what I needed. Hands down a great experience and I'd recommend them to anyone. If you had a bad experience in the past and haven't been back in a year or two, I'd definitely say give them another chance! read more

The manager Paul and associate Eli made sure I got what I came in looking for. They were very helpful and customer service oriented. He bought his new glasses at Lens Crafters due to more frames options and better prices. He was dizzy for 2 weeks expecting that it was due to the change of prescription, but it was not getting any better. He went to Lens Crafters and got a new eye exam and SURPRISE, the prescription from Cohen's was totally wrong. At Cohen's there was no technician and no optometrist during the eye exam. They only have an optometrist via web. If you want a good eye exam, go to Lens Crafters or any other optometrist. read more

My husband's glasses broke the first day of vacation. This store was very accommodating. They made calls and tried to figure out if they could fix the bridge. That couldn't work. They made up a pair of glasses without trying to sell him more than what he needed as far as $$$$ goes. read more

If I could give this horrible place zero stars, I would. They are overpriced and have extra charges for nonsense. They have horrible customer service with rude workers. I came in to have my transition glasses fixed and when I got them back,they weren't even transitions anymore. This place is ridiculous and I will never come back if anything this store needs to be shut down because the glasses quality is so horrible and overpriced. I wish I could return them and get my money back. I wish I never got my glasses from here. You're better off going to lens crafters. Better customer service and better prices with amazing quality. Iris, Brenda, Vinny and the whole crew at Cohen's optical Broward mall are very friendly, courteous and did an amazing job on my new glasses. Wanted to change from my older traditional style men's frames to more modern rimless frames, and went to several competitors first, finding virtually no selection. This store has a tremendous selection of really high-quality rimless frames and high quality lenses. Admittedly, not the cheapest store in town, but results are outstanding! They are even able to customize the size of the lenses to your liking. Highly highly recommend both for service and product! Thanks guys! read more

The main reason I give this location 5 stars is because of Vinny. Honestly, I need attention and I am very picky especially spending $$$. Since the first day I walked in the store. I was an immediate connection like a perfect blind date :) He has provides spectacular customer service. I've using contacts for as long as I can remember and have never found them to be very comfortable. I love how he makes recommendations and has introduced me to my new favorite & comfy contacts. Yes the prices are a little higher than Walmart but you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. No pressure to purchase anything which I truly appreciate as a consumer. Not sure what is going on. I've had been a customer since 2007. They've always taken my insurance, I made my appointment and as I'm calling to confirm my appointment I'm told that they don't take my insurance out of nowhere. Still I'm not bothered by that. From being told my brand of choice of contacts is discontinued when other facilities are using them to being told that the box that says daily actually is monthly, Cohen's have got to be one heck of a mess. Now today I call to get information on the contacts I ordered in the past and I am given a hard time ... Not sure what is their issue but Cohen's needs to get it together. Never heard of a medical facility not given a patient her/his own medical records. Highly annoyed!!!! read more

WOW- Sometimes when you have a great customer service experience, you say "hey that was nice- but probably just a fluke "- since these days , caring for the customer seems to have gone from top priority to a less than important concern for merchants and franchisees. Happy to say that I think I actually found the real deal.. I went back to pick up the glasses that I ordered a few weeks ago at Cohens Optical in the Broward Mall and once again - I felt as if my business was appreciated, and that my shopping needs a top priority. I came out with a pair of awesome "peepers" - very cool looking prescription ray-ban clubmasters. Vinnie and his awesome boss ( a true Manhattan-ite) spent time making sure I was satisfied with their fit, appearance , and of course my overall purchase. As a result, I am wrangling up other friends who are in need of a merchant who sells hot fashion eyewear AND cares for your eyes all at the same time. First I had an exam after telling them that I needed a higher strength on my glasses and then after my appointment they told me that they had no technician to put my new lenses in and they didn't know when they would have one. Finally 2 weeks later they had a technician put lenses in. then I wanted to order a second pair of glasses online and they refused to give me my pupillary distance so I could order them online and they were very rude about it. After spending 30 dollars on the eye exam and 200 dollars on glasses you would think they would treat a customer better. read more

I tested my eyes at Cohens the last three times I needed glasses and contacts. As a new contact lense wearer I called to inquire about how the process of ordering new contacts worked and I asked if I needed a written prescription if I decided to order online from a website. Well, the lady that I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude. She gave me attitude the entire time. She also told me to ask whoever I was thinking about ordering from the question instead of them. It made me very upset how unprofessional and rude she was, I will NEVER go to Cohens again or recommend their services. I was referred here by my mother, who purchased her glasses and then referred my baby sister here, and I have no regrets. Brenda and the other staff members were so helpful and personable. I bought a pair of glasses for my daughter. The salesperson sold us crizal anti-glare for extra money promising it was top of the line coating. I was skeptical due to a previous bad experience with anti-glare coating peeling off and destroying a new pair of glasses. However, she kept pushing it on us and finally convinced us it would be worth it. Additionally, I purchased a year warranty (just in case). Within a few months of use, the anti-glare coating did peel which was unbearable for my daughter. We went back, used the warranty, and received a new pair of lenses. A few months after the new lenses were installed, the coating peeled again. I went back hoping to get new lenses once again and was told I cannot utilize the warranty more than once during the year. I am not satisfied with my purchase from this store, the quality of the lenses, and especially the customer service. I will not be returning to this store. read more
