Culopasta was a good experience overall. I had the pesto pasta, which was delicious, very filling, and a generous portion size. The outdoor seating was especially charming, with the lights and lots of plants creating such a cute atmosphere. The only thing that took away from the experience was the front of house staff. They appeared to be younger, which is completely fine, but my date and I noticed they spent most of the time on their phones and chatting with each other. It made the service feel a bit less welcoming and distracted from an otherwise enjoyable meal. It's a small detail, but with such good food, reasonable prices, and such a lovely outdoor space, a more attentive first impression would really elevate the overall experience. I've passed by Colapasta over the years and I was eager to try. We went on a weeknight and got seated right away. It was pretty busy considering it was a weeknight. They don't take reservations. I was confused since we weren't offered a menu, but we pulled up the menu on the website. We ordered the Gramigna Bolognese and Colonne di Pompeii. Important to note no bread is included and I don't think it's needed to dip into the sauce. The food came out faster than expected and looked amazing. I love a high quality pasta noddle and it was. The noodles were bouncy, but dry. The sauce on both dishes was disappointing. It didn't have much depth and didn't have many flavors going on. The beef part of bolognese was also lacking, I felt there should've been more and more sauce. Even with the burrata mixed in the other dish it wasn't giving enough. We also tried the tiramisu. Unfortunately, it wasn't our favorite, it was a bit too hard, overly oily, and lacked the light, airy texture we were hoping for. We also tried the red beet ravioli, which had great flavor but was a little too oily for our taste. The stars of the meal were definitely the lasagna and the extra long fusilli. I've never had long fusilli before but it was fun and interesting. I also opted to add burrata which was an amazing choice for a creamy dynamic flavor. Service here is insanely slow!!!! We were outside waiting for an hour on a Thursday night with a super disorganized waitlist and it was immediately evident why when we entered. They take orders very slowly and the food also comes out slowly. However, the pasta was amazing and almost worth the lengthy wait. Checked out this gem after a friend recommended it, and wow, so good! I went on a weekday around 6pm and got seated within 10 min, but by the time I left there were groups waiting outside. It's a small spot with indoor and outdoor seating, so go early if you can. Came here for a dinner date with my boyfriend and we are definitely coming back. Our waitress said it right before we were about to say it ourselves, "the best pasta in town." Sometimes food videos on Instagram can be misleading or gimmicky , but this restaurant goes above and beyond what they show. Our top favorite had to be the Lasagna. My bf ordered it and described it as an authentic homemade dish that you can't find anywhere else. As someone who is usually not a fan of lasagna, this dish just made me realize I just never had a good one. This has to be the best one I've ever tried. It completely changed my mind. The Colonne di Pompeii is also so fun to try, it's a good spicy and the cheese on top gives it the perfect mix. I ordered the Moringa as a Truffle lover. It's also a fantastic dish. The pasta itself is so soft and tender. It is heavy on the butter, but has a great flavor to it. I would order all 3 of these again and the menu has so many more to try. It doesn't stop there. The service was phenomenal. Our waitress was so kind and funny. I wish we got her name. She was very down to earth and always checking in to make sure our meal was good. The other staff in the restaurant also greet you and are very welcoming. The best way to describe the ambiance is how my bf described it at the table, "it feels like we're in Italy, like this is the closest you can get to an authentic decoration and style". The service was absolutely amazing and I wish I had gotten my servers name but she was a joy and you could tell she loved her job! The two dishes we got were also very flavorful but I just feel like it was missing a little more to put it over the top. The squid ink bavette definitely takes the cake with being my favorite and I would give it around a 8.5/10. This place is DIVINE, Colapasta is a favorite in our household. It really does live up to the Michelin hype, it's simple but so well done and the prices are great. They secretly have gluten free pasta available (even though not on the menu) and there is no up charge and it is always cooked to the perfect al dente, truly heaven sent! I always get the bolognese, it's my favorite in the city. My boyfriend has tried multiple dishes and loved them all, but today he got the spaghetti al Nero which was unique and a delicious and different from a usual pasta night out. It's a small, intimate restaurant which added to the ambiance. We did experience a couple of sad things, namely some menu items we wanted to try being sold out for the night and a lack of a full bar. Neither of those things were really the restaurant's fault though, just us being unaware and also getting there half an hour before close. However, they ended up letting five parties ahead of us and we ultimately waited an hour and a half just to get a table. The hostess forgot my name so we were seated ultimately last. We then waited even longer to get service at the table, so we ended up ordering close to closing time, which wasn't ideal for anyone involved. Definitely come right when they open if you want to be sat without a wait! The space was cute and the service was very friendly. There were a lot of great pasta options to choose from on the menu, and I loved that despite it having a Michelin bib the prices were very reasonable for LA. I decided on the Colonne di Pompeii with Buratta and we got a Focaccia for the table. I only took one bite out of the Focaccia it was so incredibly dry and airy. It felt more like I was eating a piece of toast or a giant crouton when focaccia is supposed to be chewy and soft. While it was nice that the fusilli in the Colonne di Pompeii tasted fresh and homemade, the dish itself was nothing special. It was spicy and definitely needed the burrata to add some dimension. We also ordered the Tiramisu for desert which was decent but didn't stand out. I definitely wouldn't be in a rush to come back to this place, but if you're in the area and can get a table you'll at least be getting a pasta dish that tastes homemade for a decent price. It was delicious albeit not warm. My friends got the squid ink bavette. They like the flavor but felt the amount of crab was skimped out on.
