Service here has really plummeted over the years. The first time I came was years ago, and it was an amazing experience. It was easily accessible, the food was good and the service was spot on. This year, I went twice introducing Pasta Sisters to different people. Both times, the service was maddeningly disappointing. We would make requests for refills or water, and they would promise to be back, but they'd never show. So many times, we've tried to help ourselves (because the stuff is sitting by the queue line), but someone would say a waiter would come by our table. At some point, we'd ignore them to help ourselves because we would be waiting for nearly 30 minutes or longer. There's no excuse for them. Both visits were done on days that weren't busy. There were plenty of employees and not too many customers. We flagged down waiters several times, and each of them would promise to come back. They never came back of their own accord and never delivered. If you haven't been here before, it's a nice place if you take the employees out of the picture. There are two sections of outdoor seating with a nice breeze and some shade. The quality of the pasta and sauce are superb. Honestly, one of my favorite Italian places of all time. I ordered the pasta Bolognese, and it was way more delicious than I remembered. The serving sizes are great, although it definitely is a little more on the pricier side of things. But it's definitely worth it! The bottarga pasta is my favorite just because it's harder to find and they do it really well. Fancy eating, quality Italian and without the pressure too! I've been wanting to try Pasta Sisters for quite some time, but just never found myself in this area of SoCal. After watching a play nearby, we decided to stop by for dinner and we happened to do so during their Happy Hour. There's plenty of parking in the structure in the back that the restaurant shares with the plaza. You order, you take your number to your table, and they bring out the food for you. They have a point system here and lots of customizability as well as weekly and monthly specials. If I were closer, this would definitely be a place that I'd frequent often. There's limited indoor seating, but plenty of outdoor covered seating and just in general outdoor seating. Loved that there was a small jar of tiny fresh cut flowers on each table. Made it feel cute and nice! For our dinner, we got the: 1) Ravioli of the week: -This was their homemade ravioli filled with sauteed spinach and ricotta cheese. -You get the option of choosing the sauce that comes with your ravioli (either tomato and basil, arrabbiata, or butter and sage) and I took the worker's recommendation and got the arrabbiata. -Delicious tangy tomato flavor with a kick that went well with the creaminess of the inside of the ravioli. 2) Roasted Salmon Filet: -Comes with your choice of 2 sides, we got the roasted broccoli and mashed potatoes. Both were very solid. Can never go wrong with mashed potatoes and the broccoli gave a nice added crunchy texture. -Salmon filet was super moist and buttery and went great with the squeezing of the lemon. 3) Black Truffle Pasta: -Simple Italian black truffle with butter. -You can choose the pasta, so we got the fresh pappardelle. -My brother made the comment that this is just the Italian version of hand pulled chili oil noodles you'd get at a Chinese place, and I'm like, "So true!". Again, another wonderful depiction of convergent evolution. -Rich umami taste made this dish super easy to eat and addicting. 4) Cold Cuts and Mozzarella Plate: -We got this with the mozzarella since the burrata was out, but still delicious. -Comes with some arugula and a mix of speck, mortadella with pistachio, porchetta, and salame. -Goes great with the complimentary plate too. All the pasta and dough used had the perfect texture, absorbed the sauces, and had wonderful seasoning. Definitely a place where you get to enjoy the quality of the ingredients and the food without being overwhelmed by too much. Each meal comes with complimentary focaccia bread and balsamic vinegar and olive oil or you can dip it into the leftover sauce. The waiter came by and checked on us constantly, making sure we had the parmesan and crushed peppers, to see if we needed anything, and to clear away our plates. We added 2 glasses of pinot noir to our order, which is $5 during Happy Hour, but we weren't charged, so I went up to the front to pay for it. My favorite Italian restaurant in LA! I loved the Arlington location and decided to give the Culver City location a try when I was in the area. This location is so much more spacious than its Arlington counterpart and is impressively managed. We came on a Saturday night at 6:30 pm and the line to order and get a table moved pretty quickly; we were at the front within 10-15 minutes. Staff were nice and accommodating. The patio seating was pretty and comfortable as well. As for the food itself, I love how light and flavorful every pasta dish is. Unlike other Italian restaurants where you often tire quickly of the pasta dishes because of the heaviness, Pasta Sisters' dishes last. I particularly like the pesto spaghetti and highly recommend adding the burrata. Pasta was always cooked perfectly al dente. Serving sizes are bigger than they look. Their tiramisu is some of the best too- ordered 2 to-go. Parking is available for free in the surrounding plaza parking lot but it was tricky to park on a Sat night. The one here is located in the Culver Arts District area which means street parking along the main streets, but we saw there was a back lot for that building. We parked and walked towards Pasta Sisters and came through the back. There are 3 seating areas (front patio, inside, or back patio) and it's the kind of place where you order + pay first, and then get seated. All the employees we bumped into were so nice, the female employee at the register was so sweet and the general manager was super nice as well. I love me a good bolognese so I ordered that with tagliatelle pasta. We also ordered January's special, the seafood pasta, the prosciutto and arugula pizza on focaccia, and paired it with a bottle of the Bruni Poggio D'Elsa bc of my name Love the complementary soft focaccia bread with oil and balsamic even though I didn't eat much of it. The bolognese was just how I liked it. The meat sauce simmered to perfection with the right spices and flavor. The seafood pasta was also very good with shrimp and clams and a spicy tomato bisque sauce. I thought the pizza would have been good if it was fresh. I'm someone who prefers my pasta a little more cooked, so what they serve is a bit al dente for me. The highlights for me are the pesto (+ the burrata cheese on top) and porcini mushroom. The ingredients taste fresh and flavorful. I do think that the prices are slightly high for the quantity as well as the casual environment and service. If you are getting a drink or dessert, or adding a protein or burrata to your pasta + sauce, including tax and tip, you easily reach $40 per person. If you get just a pasta + sauce, you could make it closer to $25. But overall, Pasta Sisters is good and I am always happy to dine here. You order at the counter, take a number to a table and a server brings you bread and olive oil/vinegar to start, and your food when it's ready. Seating is mostly split across two outdoor patios, with a small indoor section available. Water is self-service. There is plenty of free parking behind the restaurant. read more
