Nothing beats a warm day other than a good ice cream. So we hadn't been to a Cold Stone Creamery since moving to Albuquerque. It was not busy so we were able to order quickly and chose from the specialty menu- Chocolate Chip Cookie Doughn't You Want Some and the Berry, Berry, Berry, Good creations. The cookie dough was missing main ingredient - the cookie dough. The worst part is the person making my order is the one that took it. I ended up with a conglomeration of something other than what was ordered. The Berry creation was done correctly. This saved them from a one star review. First off my compliments to the staff who were working when we visited. Both girls that were working there were very friendly and as helpful as they could be under the circumstances. we hadn't been to this location of Cold Stone a long time but we had a gift card . What a disappointment! It was unkept, dirty and smelled bad.I wanted to eat outside because of the smell but my husband's order wasn't ready..after ten minutes of waiting, my husband was told they were out of some of the ingredients for his shake .my ice cream was just about melted by then :( this place really needs a deep cleaning, renovation and better training .. not the staff's fault! upper management is not paying good attention to this the daily operations of this business.Also there was an employee from the sushi place next-door that was creeping around, looking in the window at the Cold Stone employees, yuck read more

If I could give this place a zero I would we ordered my daughter's birthday cake from this place and the cake was extremely dry and was pretty much nothing but frosting and the writing looks like a toddler wrote it, I spoke with a guy named Mike and he was extremely rude and extremely unprofessional. Went to the Rio Rancho Cold Stone at 9:08 pm. The sign on the door says they close at 10:00 pm, the Open neon sign is still on, the door is unlocked and the chairs are still right side up. Two employees tell us "Sorry but we closed at 9:00" If they do in fact close at 9:00 pm, then the employees are doing a very poor job of closing and letting people know they are closed for business. read more

This time around our granddaughter daringly went for the "cotton candy" flavoured ice cream with coconut mixed in. My Damsel not in distress, opted for dark chocolate with coconut and almonds mixed in. I stayed true with coffee mixed with chocolate and almonds. Yes, delicious on all three counts. Love that they are open during the pandemic, cold stone is definitely one of my favorites. We know they are doing the best they can to be open and conduct business, only thing is that, there were like 10 of us in the building and only 1girl helping as fast as she could, while the guy that was with her was walking back and forth, then walk out with a pick up order and then asked if we had been helped and walked off. Maybe having one more person to help would be great, get people in and out of the building instead of having a pile up. BUT all in all i love cold stone! Your icecream is legit the best! read more

We ordered through door dash. 3 ice creams and 3 waffle cones. We didn't receive a waffle cone. When I called, the girl knew exactly what type of waffle cone was missing. She offered to contact door dash and send another one but obviously we don't want to wait another 30 minutes so I declined. She told me to contact door dash for a refund. I'm not sure why and ice cream shop would sell ice cream that is practically melted down. And that had been melted and refrozen. All the tubs were sitting in liquid. And it was barely solidified. I asked the workers why everything was melting and why there were ice crystals in the bottom on the serving. She says that our freezers hadn't been working consistently and that when they do it refreezes therefore leaves ice crystals. Unreal, huge waste of 22$ but couldn't leave because I had three grandkids with me and they don't understand. Management needs to get it together very disappointing. I suggest on a hot summer day when everyone is wanting ice cream that you have more than one person working in the shop. I was waiting 15 minutes with just one person in front of me in line who ordered a fairly simple ice cream (cotton candy with sprinkles) and ended up walking out because within those 15 minutes I didn't even get to start my order and was horrified imagining how long it might take for the woman to make my two creations. read more

Ordered a kid birthday cake a week in advance. Get to pick it up.. they alert me they couldn't write my kids name on it due to sprinkles and out of color he chose. I asked why noone called and got a list of excuses. Lady claimed she wasnt trained to write. Which came out as hideous as the previous "trained" writer. My homemade cakes are written better. This is the worst cold stone I have been to. They are very inconsistent in the way they make they orders. Some give you more mixins then others. Also some make them normal size and some smaller then size order. Tonight I ordered a got to have it and when he put it in the cup it don't even come over the top of the cup at all. Sides still had space and looked more like the size below. The person couldn't remember the ice cream flavor I wanted and had to tell him the mixins twice and I was the only one there. Poor service at this place. Would recommend any other store then this one. read more

I ordered a cake on Friday and paid for it online. Arranged to have it done by Sunday at 1:00pm. I arrived to pick it up at 2:30pm. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, I was told it wasn't ready and needed another 30 minutes. No offer for a refund or compensation for time or gas. Left. Came back in an hour and STILL isn't done. All the girl says is "sorry not my fault". They don't have the right colored icing. Since of course it's a special occasion I can't just cancel and walk oh so I am stuck. Not blaming the girl but management needs to be available and manage, not leave her alone on the weekend. Last time me or anybody I know will go go there, just walk across the parking lot to menchies. read more

The hardest part of coming here is deciding which concoction you will have them create. Luckily though you can taste any flavor, as many as you want. Customer service is lacking that umph factor. It's just kids working that just need some cash, and I get that, we all been there before, but taking some pride in your work goes a long way. I always tip, cuz I know what it's like being on that side of the counter. But with the tip, we all know that tipping here requires them to sing, which is why I never could work here, but it's part of the job, I joke around with the workers saying they have to sing, and they tell me no or they get a snobby attitude. I'm just trying to have fun, I don't actually make you sing, I just want to get you to laugh and have fun and hopefully you can pass that good vibe to the next customer instead of being a stick in the mud like you were for me. Cold Stone is the place to go when you have a sweet tooth. They have 20 flavors of ice cream and plenty of items to choose from to make a delicious ice cream concoction. If you ask for a sample, you can taste different flavors before committing to one. For those counting calories, they have a skinny vanilla that actually tastes good. The first girl helping me and my friend was friendly but unfortunately she went to helping another customer she accidentally skipped over. The second girl walked away from us, eating ice cream, was drinking water while we decided what to order, didn't wash her hands once while we were in there, and to top it off while she was mixing my friends ice cream, her friend comes and hands her a phone and she takes it and puts it in her pocket, then continues mixing!! Went in today for some ice cream because we had a gift card. The woman working was less than friendly. When it came time to pay, I handed her the gift card. She played with the computer a little bit, obviously confused, and looked at me and asked if I had cash because she pressed the wrong button. I looked at her confused by this, and she said she would try again. After "trying" suddenly the machine was not taking gift cards and we had to pay in cash. We have gone here for the last year and mostly it has been good, but the last few months I am always disappointed in the service. We always order the medium size dish with toppings. We had the same counter girl the last two times and she short serves the ice cream. The photos always show the dishes piled high and she didn't even make it to the top of the cup. Then she charged 89 cents extra for a chocolate topping and only squirted a z of chocolate sauce. I could have bought a whole small bottle of it for the price. Is the boss telling her to short serve and skimp on toppings? Are they in financial distress? Oh, and the ice cream was melting in the storage containers and when we pointed it out to the girl, she said that it was the flavorings making it melt. Our ice cream was super soft and melted before we finished eating it. I think we will find a different place to buy ice cream. It is not worth the bad feelings we have now and we would just wonder if the next time will be any better.
