    a variety of cookies

Oh my goodness. This place is amazing. So many yummy choices. They make gold bars like we used to get in school lunches. The cookies are decorated beautifully and they are so good. The owners are great too.

12 macarons, 3 each of cookies 'n cream, matcha, chantilly, lavender

I was invited to dinner and wanted to bring something sweet for our hosts. I googled "best bakery in Albuquerque" and the search lead me to ABQ Sweet Spot. They have truly earned that designation! It's a small shop, but offers a wide variety of treats. The service is top notch, and the man I spoke to (I think he was the owner) was so kind and charming. We got an assortment of macarons, two coconut cream cupcakes, and a pistachio pudding. I didn't try the macarons as they were a gift, but apparently they were a big hit with our hosts. The cupcakes were moist, nice crumb, and not too sweet with a balanced icing/cake ratio. Pistachio pudding was a good size and enjoyed over a few days. Very tasty and again, not too sweet. I now have a soft spot for Sweet Spot!

I was recommended this place by a relative, and guess what, they have keto friendly choices here! I decided to stop in and purchase some goodies for that same relative, including a dozen of their macarons, an aloha cookie, a whoopie cookie *hello whipped cream* and a few cuppies for me and my daughter which were quite tasty. I am taking inventory of my bakery options over here on the westside, and this is a lovely addition to the repertoire. What it does, it does well.

Royal Icing readily available cookies $3.50

Royal icing cookies ($3.50) are readily available and delicious. Unfortunately I didn't see the label on the back, 2 of them had almond extract so I couldn't eat them, however one was funfetti and I was able to eat it. Cupcake was unfortunately stale so I will not be repurchasing those again. Staff member assisting at register was friendly and welcoming.

    Valentines Day

So it's almost Valentines Day and looking for sweet treat to give & it's got to be local. We've had cookies from Sweet Spot before and they were pretty good. I'm not a big fan of decorated sugar cookies, but it's not about me. So after a short wait - 1 family at a time. I went inside. It's a small shop with plenty of goodies. The first case I saw were the V Day cookies. They were well decorated and appetizing - works of art. Almost seemed ashamed to eat them. The next case held things that were more to my liking. Cup cakes, tarts and macarons. I bought the cookies for Valentines Day and a key lime tart (key lime with a graham cracker crust topped with a dollop of whipped cream). That hit my spot and the cookies made the recipient happy. We'll be back for cake pops next. Another hidden local gem that rates a visit. There's something for everyone.

Thank you ABQ Sweet Spot for my amazing Birthday cake and gorgeous cookies! The almond sugar cookies were not only gorgeous it were fresh and melt in your mouth delicious with the perfect amount of sweetness. The chantilly berry cake was beautiful and did not disappoint. A splurge but totally worth every penny.

The cake in the first picture is what I showed the baker and the cake in the second picture is what I received. I picked up the cake the day of the baby shower.. all I can say is the pictures have all of the words I could say... very disappointed and do not know how this could be messed up or relatively close & given to a paying customer..

Such a fun local bakery!! I've had the cookies and macarons here, and both have been super good. The cookies are adorably decorated, and they come in different flavors (almond, vanilla, lemon, funfetti). You can get a dozen cookies for about $27, which is cheaper than buying individually. I like that they've got fun designs for the seasons, like nerdy turkeys for Thanksgiving. And from their Instagram photos, they do an incredible job with custom orders. I'll definitely be coming here for specific party favors and treats!

I have been wanting to try a hot chocolate bombs and I found a great selection at ABQ Sweet Spot! I bought three different flavors and will definitely be back for more! This bakery showed up a couple streets down from us and we couldn't wait to give it a try. We were not disappointed! From the minute you walk in you can smell the goodness. We tried a variety of different options and each one was delicious. Sent my husband and kiddos there a second time to pick up some teacher gifts and they came home with the cutest cookies. Being a NM native I am partial to all things 505 and was super excited to see the NM flag cookie, which was funfetti no less! This will be our go to sweet spot from now on.

I ordered many treats for myself and bestie. One pastry that caught my eye was the classic butter croissant dough with activated charcoal, glazed blood oranges, and blood orange curd. I'm not sure if this is only a seasonal item. The colors are beautiful! It was quite sweet, however the blood orange tartness aided in the flavors giving it a bit of tartness. The Boston Cream Cruffin looked mighty tasty. It's made with their signature croissant dough rolled up and filled with vanilla pastry cream and dipped in dark chocolate ganache. Amazing sandwich, fresh, delicious! While we were enjoying our food, Pratt Morales, the owner and master baker, came out and talked to us for a while. This was a real treat, great positive attitude and love for what he does. He even introduced us to one of his specialties the Turkey shaped bread he makes for Thanksgiving. So popular now he gets hundreds of orders per year. We left with some biscochitos and other cookies to go, and a desire to try more things when we are back in Albuquerque.

He even joked that they were "out of everything," which got a laugh and set a fun, relaxed tone. The music was rocking when I walked in, which I loved, although it eventually switched to something a little more mellow. Still, the overall atmosphere was inviting and made me want to stick around. I ordered an Iced Americano, and it was solid. You can tell they use quality espresso, but I personally would have liked it just a bit stronger. Next time, I'll probably ask for an extra shot to make it perfect for my taste. The real standout was the cinnamon roll. It had the ideal texture with a gooey, cinnamon-filled center, and they certainly didn't skimp on the cream cheese frosting. There was enough frosting to induce a sugar overdose, in a good way. The shop itself was clean, comfortable, and designed to make you want to stay awhile. They have a huge selection of board games and LEGO sets, so you could easily spend a couple of hours hanging out with friends or family. I also asked about the stage and learned they host karaoke and open mic nights a couple of evenings each week, which adds another fun reason to come back. Between the genuinely friendly staff, quality coffee, incredible cinnamon roll, and welcoming atmosphere, this is a place I'll definitely be visiting again.
