This place is a Cold Stone gone wrong. Customer service skills are lacking to put it lightly. I was helped by the big tall guy with the beaded bracelets and the hum drum who-gives-a-shit attitude and not in a spunky fun way. First, you rushed me immediately. I had just gotten there, I was excited, I was scoping out the great flavor concoctions on the picture on the wall. It was mesmerizing, how was I to choose.... And then not a minute later, "What can I get you?!" barked at me. Annoyed, I approach the ice cream case. I decide to go with what I know, since this guy is freaking out. The Mud Pie Mojo it is. He carelessly whips it up and this is when I confirmed this guy gives zero shits. With his spatula he takes my ice cream concoction and slaps it in a Like It cup and it's just hanging over the edge like a goddamn muffin top. The whole damn thing. Holy hell, what a mess. He didn't try to fix it, he didn't say anything to make any kind of sense of it, man, even a joke about how ridiculous it was could have saved the experience. But no. Not at this sad excuse for a Cold Stone. I saw that someone else on Yelp mentioned how melty the ice cream here is. I was nervous about going here because of that review and sure enough, that ice cream case is full of melty ice cream. You could see an unappetizing amount of liquid sitting in several of the tubs. I don't know who's in charge of making the ice cream but please, get it together. All in all this place is not what I would expect from Cold Stone. I walk in around 8:50 pm and there are no other customers aside from one gentleman walking out with his order. It looked like the staff was preparing to close (they close at 9:30pm). An employee greets me and asks if I was picking up an online order or placing my order there. I tell her I would be ordering there. I also mention I would have 5 items to order. The same employee proceeds to tell the other employees several times that I had 5 orders (using a tone implying it was a large order that would lengthen their shift) and passes the task on to another employee. Two of my items were made. Meanwhile, several parties enter the store and a rush begins. I stood there waiting to finish my order while four parties behind us (not including online/mobile orders) had their orders taken and worked on before I could even finish giving my order. I saw five employees working on orders. I wouldn't have minded the wait had I not been initially greeted with the feeling of being a burden to the staff trying to close the store 40 minutes early. This is my first time at Coldstone .Came today at 3:47pm. It's not very busy. All the cakes are gone, so I got ice cream instead. Floor is clean, but tables and chairs have stains and dirty water marks. They play the music a little too loudly. The reason it's a 3 is because the ice cream creations are creative and tasty. My first (and last) visit to the franchise. Staff was friendly. Place was clean. My gripe is with the product. I understand the concept and think it's a great idea, but my ice cream cone came to damn near six dollars! They have all these base flavors of ice cream, then they smear it on the cold stone as they mash in ingredients. This is the same way I make my Cookies and Cream shakes at home with Natural Vanilla Breyers and Oreos - only I use a tall cup instead of a cold stone. This location is awful. I went in to pick up an anniversary cake, so I chose one from the freezer. They asked If I wanted anyone to write on it and I said yes. So when the "cake decorator in training" came back with it I asked to see it before she packed it up for me to take home. I figured writing letters on a cake wouldn't be too hard to accomplish, but I might as well check. The lettering was uneven and it had smears of the red writing on it! ARE YOU KIDDDING ME?! Was she planning on telling me this at all. I had her go back and fix it and it looked worse after two attempts. I ended up being forced to buy a bigger size because there weren't anymore small cakes available. Needless to say I took it home and decorated it myself. Also picked up a waffle bowl because I like to snack on them as a treat. I specifically requested a new one because I saw that the girl still had the stuff out to make a new one. She instead grabbed one from the case and said she just made it and it was warm. I didn't want to be annoying so I just took her word for it and had her pack it in the bag. I got home to crunch on my delicious treat and it was so underdone or stale to where I could bend it and it didn't break. DISGUSTING. Mind you it didn't touch any ice cream at all... In addition, while I was waiting the ice cream maker was making a customer an order. She apparently didn't have enough so she stuck the scooper straight back into the ice cream stock WITHOUT WASHING THE BLADES, leaving chocolate and goop of whatever she was making into it. I couldn't believe the IGNORANCE. Someone could get a major allergic reaction to practices like this. Years ago I worked had a co-worker who had just moved to the Bay Area from Utah, and her last job had been at a Coldstone (before we had them here in Cali). While I trained her on the ins and outs of portrait photography (during our slow season right before the holidays), she spent her time making me drool by outlining the whole Coldstone menu (seasonal delights included). But when Coldstone finally made it out west, I still never found the occasion to try it. Flash forward several more years. My Mother in Law introduced my daughter to the joy of CSC and cotton candy ice cream, and then me (much to the chagrin of my diet) to the deliciousness of Birthday Cake Remix. But just as quickly as CSC came into our lives, it disappeared. The Coldstone sign stayed up, but the store remained an empty shell of broken sugar cravings and caloric dreams. About a year passed by, and while headed to Jamba Juice Raina almost had a heart attack when she saw that there were people in the Coldstone next door. I tried to pry her away since I was set on getting her something "healthy", plus it wasn't clear if they had in fact re-opened (and I wasn't sure I wanted to open that flood gate if they had!). A man came out to let us know they had indeed re-opened, and introduced himself as the new owner. He was very friendly and welcoming, and gave us some of the story about why they (and the Fairfield location) had closed while we waited for our ice cream. Raina adored her half-Cotton Candy, half-Watermelon Sorbet in a waffle cone with chocolate and sprinkles. My Birthday Cake Remix was everything I'd missed. I love everything they mix into it, but I could even eat that Cake Batter ice cream on its own by the bucket. I really enjoyed R's Watermelon Sorbet as well. There was plenty of deliciousness to go around with our two choices for all three of us, and it came out to about $8.50. I am very happy to have the Coldstone option back in Vacaville, and I wish the best of luck to the new owner and staff. read more

We got here around 4:30pm on a Tuesday. They had 1 person working and she was SLOW! Took her about 15 minutes to make 2 milkshakes for the 2 people ahead of us. Then we wanted to order some super chocolate fudge thing but they didn't have whipped cream to go in it. Kind of killed my appetite seeing this is an ice cream place but it's ok. Still ordered. Took her about 15 minutes to make our ice cream and the couple behind us were picking up a cake. Their cake wasn't ready so the only girl that was there had to go write on it. Took her another 15 minutes to do that. I give 2 stars because our ice cream was delicious as usual. Right before we left, a young kid came in with a couple of friends. He went to the back and started helping the worker. Then he told one of his friends to come back and help and said "he works here now" Gross. I just want to say how awesome Casey was today. My first experience at this Cold Stone was a couple weeks ago when a different girl had me waiting for several minutes (5 minutes or so) and then knocked CHUNKS of my snickers off the counter. It hurt to watch my toppings fall to the floor (I am pregnant). Today however, Casey was extremely attentive, quick, and efficient. PLUS, she offered me a copy of my receipt and I declined but I also forgot to punch in my phone number for the rewards points so I called Casey 20 minutes later and she happily looked it up for me. We ordered ice cream cake for Christmas and opted for Oreo cookie flavor- we had friends came over to the house and it was a hit ! Kids just kept coming back for a slice and another and another . It did not last long and we ordered the large one. It also came beautifully decorated with Oreo cookies on top and red and green snow flakes like decor with the white ice cream like a snow . And it tasted really good ! My daughter requested for New Year's with the same flavor but this time we also had the red velvet and it did not disappoint us !
