We have been coming to Fentons for years, which made this experience especially disappointing. The hostess should not be working in a customer-facing role without proper training on how to interact respectfully and compassionately with children who have disabilities and their families. Our servers were great, but the hostess stood out for the wrong reasons. We came in 6/6/2026 for reference around 12pm. Our party of 10 was quoted a 30-minute wait, which we were happy to accept. After waiting, we checked in with the hostess only to be told that our table had been given away and our name had been removed from the list because she claimed she called us several times. No one in our group heard our name called. What was most frustrating was the lack of effort to help resolve the situation. The hostess was dismissive and seemed uninterested in finding a solution. This was particularly difficult because my 4-year-old niece has autism, and unexpected changes and long waits can be very challenging for her. A little patience, understanding, and compassion would have gone a long way. As longtime customers, we expected better communication and customer service. Came here with my family on a Saturday around lunchtime. As expected, it was busy, but we were seated right away. Our server was nice and attentive without being overly chatty, which we appreciated. I was in the area with family and were craving ice cream so we decided to drop by Fenton's. Fenton's is a Bay Area staple when it comes to a Diner, good quality dessert desserts. My family came in around 2:30, and there was a table open, however it was quite busy for the afternoon on a Sunday. The service was good though. My family didn't eat yet so we split the patty melt which tasted good, I would say thought the fries are about as average as it gets. It's nothing special, I would honestly not recommend, I will probrally try the curly fries next time. The Fenton's Special however tasted amazing, this is basically a combinations of all the class flavors (Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Sherbet), and a bunch of their syrups). I'm typically not a sweet tooth type of guy, but this Sunday was delicious! I love how it wasn't too sweet as well. This Sunday can feed at least 3-4 people. I also don't like sherbet but this sherbet tasted amazing as well! Overall I had a good experience and would recommend this place for a dessert spot. The last time I tried Fentons Creamery ice cream was probably over 15 years ago in Berkeley, so I was really excited to find out they had another location here in Vacaville. I decided to grab a "single" size, which was essentially two scoops, priced at around $8.15 as of November 2025. I chose two flavors -- Biscoff and green tea. Overall, both ice creams tasted fine, but I found the texture a bit too thick and borderline gummy. It made me wonder if they might be using too much stabilizer. Anyway, regardless I wasn't a fan of the texture at all. In terms of flavor, the Biscoff was quite nice -- as the Biscoff flavor really came through. The green tea, however, was disappointing. I couldn't pick up any green tea notes at all; it just tasted like a bland vanilla to me. On the positive side, the staff member who helped me was very friendly, and the store itself looked great inside -- clean, bright, and welcoming. read more

Today, I took my family to Fenton's for the last time. It was very busy but the service was great. Our waiter hustled! My complaint is the value. The portions are tiny compared to the price. I shelled out over $100 bucks so I could be served the sandwich in the picture. The amount of pastrami in my sandwich could only be described as pathetic. The fries tasted microwaved and my $7 cup of chili was microscopic. No free dessert on my birthday was the last straw. Another customer was getting upset because it took them 45 min to get their ice cream. We didn't wait that long, but there was a wait. We got their heath bar ice cream and butterfinger ice cream. Today visited Fenton's Creamery with a few friends for lunch. This particular restaurant is located at the Nut Tree Plaza across from the playground and next to the Jelly Belly store. I ordered their Crab Louis Salad and also had an order of their Zucchini Sticks. The salad had a good amount of crab on top but wish there was a tad bit more salad underneath..Still very good! Zucchini sticks were fried, seasoned well and a great portion. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant and although it wasn't very busy, tables were kept clean. Service with our server was excellent. She was attentive, on top of everything if anyone needed drinks and they were quick with our order. We split the bill in three with no issues either. Would have had ice cream but we were all quite full as everyone's food portions were great in size. Don't think we could've had anymore! Oh well maybe next time! read more

2.5. Bummed to write this review because we have been coming here for years with our large extended family. This past visit, we had a group of 14 and were one of only two tables in the main room. The service was just terrible. They were bringing out the first-to-order's dishes before our group even finished ordering. Which I guess would be fine except the final dishes didn't come out until at least 20 minutes later. It was so chaotic and a bunch of the sides were wrong and the (manager?) gal working gave us so much attitude every time we let her know. The food is whatever, the ice cream is amazing. They make all of their ice cream in house for both Piedmont Ave in Oakland and Vacaville. The ice cream and their creations are awesome! The portions are so big it's more than enough to share! The hot fudge is rich and decadent! The whipped cream is made fresh, but the show stopper is their Ice Cream. It's no wonder it's not uncommon to find a line outside in the summer for their ice cream counter. The server and overall service were very good! The location in the Nut Tree shopping center is great, with so many restaurants, shops, kid rides, and of course the Jelly Belly Outlet store just feet away from Fenton's Entrance.
