Very quaint atmosphere & attentive wait staff. Seasonal menu and options all Looked delicious. Tried chicken salad on croissant and added broccoli salad as a side. My friend ordered the quiche of the day with fruit. Excellent choices for both of us. Make a reservation for lunch. Definitely worth a try.

My husband and I were on a day outing and decided to make the short drive from Fairborn to Tipp City. We love to eat at local restaurants and Coldwater Cafe's menu looked amazing! The first thing we noticed was a the cozy entrance, complete with fireplace. We were greeted and treated promptly and our server, Madison, was welcoming and knowledgeable. We ordered the Nut Crusted Fried Brie as an appetizer. It's served with homemade hot pepper jelly that was sweet with just the right amount of "hot". Our ordered consisted of a cup of Wild Mushroom Soup, which was just amazing! My husband ordered the Chicken Pecan Sandwich and I ordered the Farole Island Salmon on spring greens. Since it was our first visit, and definitely not our last, we each received a complementary, Butter and Sugar Cherry Pecan Mini Bundt Cake. Thank you so much for outstanding service and a delicious meal.

Great food and service. The butternut squash grilled cheese was amazing. Been coming here for years. Great wine list. Their Contessa Marion was one of my favorites.

Wonderful restaurant to stumble across. They have a patio where they allow dogs which was an awesome surprise, we were going to order take out. Food and drinks were delicious and we even got dessert to go. The staff was delightful and friendly.

What a beautiful restaurant. Very unassuming from the outside. I knew nothing about this restaurant. It was recommended by a friend. My friend Beth and I had spent the day Troll Hunting at Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm. #iykyk And had dinner afterwards here. I had the Fried Green Tomatoes, and a Wedge salad. Beth had the lobster crab cakes. The fried green tomato's had pimento cheese on top, with a balsamic glaze, very good. Absolutely the best thing I had eaten ever! Then we were presented with the desert menu, it was hard to choose but we got Nicks Carrot Cake.

What a delightful experience! The food, service (Madison rocks!) and venue were a welcome surprise. I worked within 10 miles of Tipp City for five years, but never ventured further than the expressway Exit. Shame on me. We started with the roasted brussel sprouts. The portion was generous and the seasoning was spot-on. The crab cake sandwich was expertly prepared and plated. I am guessing, but I suspect the roll was baked in-house. The homemade chips were fantastic - I appreciate them being lightly salted. My lunch companion ordered the quiche and she said that she will definitely order it again. Will I return? Absolutely!

Probably one of the best meals I have had in a long time!! Dined on a Thursday evening for my birthday with my parents and boyfriend. My boyfriend and mom had the filet, I had the ribeye, and my dad had the duck. The Bourbon bacon bacon jam was incredible. Perfectly salty and sweet. The steaks were all delicious! tender and flavorful. Our server Jill was very friendly and helped me pick the cherry almond bread pudding with butter sauce and it was fantastic. My boyfriend enjoyed his reeses cheesecake too. I look forward to dining again!!

And for all those years, my wife kept saying, "We really should try Sam & Ethel's." Somehow, this was the first time we finally made it happen--and I'm glad we did. We came in for breakfast the day before heading back home. We arrived around 9 a.m., and here's a tip for first‑timers: call ahead to get on the waitlist. You don't need to be present, and it can save you a little time. We thought we were next, but another couple who had called ahead slipped in before us. It felt a bit unfair in the moment, but honestly, good for them--they used the system the way it's meant to be used. Once seated, everything that followed was exactly what a classic hometown breakfast spot should deliver. The menu is full of comforting options--silver dollar or plate‑size pancakes, buckwheat or regular, with or without pecans, all served with hot syrup. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. I ordered the BELT (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, Tomato) sandwich, which was excellent. They asked if I wanted cheese and offered several options; I chose cheddar, though it didn't end up on the sandwich. Honestly, it was still great without it. I also tried a silver dollar buckwheat pancake with pecans, and it was fantastic--nutty, warm, and just the right amount of indulgent. The coffee was a little weak for my taste, but that was the only small miss. I also sampled some of my wife's breakfast burrito and my mother‑in‑law's toast and hash browns. The hash browns were especially memorable--you could really taste the potatoes, thicker and less fried than what you'd find at a Waffle House. The buttered toast was excellent too, simple but done perfectly. And I have to mention our host, who delivered one of the funniest, most unexpected lines of the morning. She walked up and said, "Can I hit anyone up..." then paused just long enough for me to wonder what was coming next, before finishing with, "...with coffee." I was briefly alarmed, then immediately reassured--and I couldn't help but laugh. It was such a genuine, human moment that added to the charm of the place. Everyone at our table enjoyed their breakfast, and the wait--especially for a Saturday morning--was surprisingly reasonable. My father‑in‑law picked up the check, which was a thoughtful way to end a really pleasant meal. After a decade of visiting Tipp City, I'm glad we finally made it to Sam & Ethel's. It's easy to see why it's a local favorite, and it's definitely earned a spot on our regular rotation from now on.

Took a while to get a table, get the table cleaned off and get a menu due to being under staffed. Once the waitress came to our table everything was wonderful. Very kind, helpful, knowledgeable server. Our food came out quickly and perfectly. We both ordered the skillet. It was incredible. One of the best breakfast dishes I've had in a long time. Well prepared, delicious ingredients to make an incredibly delightful dish. The breakfast skillet was so good. The hashbrowns were perfectly cooked. The sausage gravy was flavorful and delicious. The bacon was crisp and was the perfect flavor addition. My eggs were cooked perfectly (I asked for basted-they were perfect!) Everything was incredible. The biscuits were so good. A little underdone but perhaps the was on purpose? They were really good. My son added pancakes to his order. They looked a little overly done, but tasted good. Portion size was huge. Ambiance was very mom and pop shop---very close quarters. Only one small restroom. Great restaurant with excellent food!!! Just know what you're getting into. Probably not very handicapped accessible due to stairs and small restroom and tight quarters, but delicious food with kind waitstaff. Go for the food, not the ambience.
