I NEVER leave reviews, but this time I had to. My car's check engine light came on. I have a gadget that reads the car's computer. It said that the engine control module needed replacing. I did a Google search and it said that the average cost for that repair is $1200. I took the car to Steve's T&G expecting the worst. I left the car there to be checked. Haig gave me a call and said to come in. To my surprise he told me that it was probably just a dirty air intake. He said he cleaned it and I should drive the car a while to see if the light came back on. For this, he charged me NOTHING!!! This place is not where you want to got to get any of your Cars or SUV fixed or checked. They have messed up on a few of my cousins vehicles!!! . They set you up thinking that everything is okay when you leave there. But in two to three days my family Cars and SUV. starts having problem. The check engine light turns on. So they take it back to them. And they said it's something else now messing up... what they just fixed. WTF!!!! We went to a different auto places called C&A auto. And they found the problem and told us why would they fix a vehical and just do a half a job. So we took the SUV. And yes!!!! Another half ass job.... Got to C&A auto. Ask for Chi or Art. I needed some car work done and I called and spoke to Steve. I told him what I needed and asked how much it would cost and how long I would be without my car. Basic and necessary questions to ask, yet Steve used such a harsh tone with me, bordering on yelling at me. He acted as if it was burden to answer my questions and told me not to worry about how long it would take and just bring the car in. He turned my already stressful situation with my car into an even worse one. Needless to say I did not take my car there and got the repairs at another shop were I wasn't yelled at and my questions were answered. read more

Steve is a jerk, he lies, he takes WAY too long and his "free oil changes for life" advertisements are a scam. STAY AWAY!!!!!! I brought my wife's car - that had a tiny dent in the rear quarter panel - here because Steve, who seemed like a nice guy who knew what he was talking about, gave me the lowest quote. He also offered me free oil changes for the life of her car if I gave him the job. He also promised to get the car back to me in 2 days. $1000 and two weeks later I regretted ever setting foot there. After two days of waiting for his call, I called the shop to hear that he needed another day. This went on for about a week when I told him that I would like to take the car elsewhere. At this point Steve informed me that he had JUST finished taking out the dent and that he was waiting for the primer to dry, he would have the car ready the following day. As you may have guessed, Steve did not uphold his promise. After another week of calling every day and being told that the car would be ready the next day, the car was finally finished. To be fair, he did a fair job taking the dent out and quite a nice job on the paint touch-up. However he charged me $300 more than the original quote. To add insult to injury, a month later when I brought the car in to him for the promised free oil changes, he informed me that his shop didn't actually do the oil changes. Rather, he would make an appointment for an oil change at a nearby shop, and when there was availability he would bring the car in. This meant that there was a waiting period of up to several hours to get an oil change. In addition only the labor was free, the oil and filter would be charged at the shop's full price. Don't ever go here, go to a real collision repair center or a certified mechanic. read more

Steve is great... this is a neighborhood car repair establishment... kind of hidden off the main street, but I think it would be a place for anyone to get their car fixed. I had a "check engine" light come on in my MBZ. Steve's computer said there was a problem in the smog control system, but that I should bring it to the MBZ dealership to get it further diagnosed. The dealership charged me $134 to get it diagnosed and said it would cost an additional $980 to get it fixed. Steve said he would do the repair for $280 and he did. Additionally, the dealership wanted me to fix a whole bunch of other things I probably didn't need. Steve is honest, reliable, and value priced. I will bring all my cars to him read more

I read a good review on Yelp and sent my girlfriend here when she called me on the road with car problems. She said that she was treated very well, they gave her a good price, and they even gave her a ride home since it was only a mile away. Unfortunately the repair took a little longer than expected beacuse the parts were out of stock everywhere, but Steve (I talked to him on the phone a few times) called everywhere looking and a couple days later she was driving again. My car died a couple of times in one day and I wasn't sure if I just needed a new battery or if something else was wrong. It died during rush hour so no one was available to come give me a jump or a tow right away. All of the repair shops in my area were closing at 6pm so I called Steves to see if I could leave the car right outside once I got a tow. The person on the phone (I later learned was Haag - spelling?) was very nice and said he was finishing up some work and would be there for another hour if I could get it there. He asked me to call back and let him know. When I found out that no one could come help me for an hour and a half and I called back to let him know that I would try to get help and bring it in the morning. He was so understanding and told me where I could leave the key if I got it there that evening or said that he could get me a jump in the morning if I came at 8am or just before. My husband was out of town for all this so I had no help. I went to the shop the next morning and began talking to the guy at the desk (Steve). I assumed I was talking to the owner the night before and told him that I spoke to him last night and I was the one who needed a jump. He curtly told me that he didn't speak to me and that they were not a tow company, gesturing with his arms around the shop. He went to find Haag and didn't seem happy but Haag was very nice and came to jump my car (1/2 mile away). I had read reviews about Steve being harsh and I took this with a grain of salt and noted that he seems like a New Yorker and is probably surprised to learn that someone at his shop offered to help with a jump. Steve called an hour later saying that it was just my battery and they could put a new battery in for $130. I have no idea how much batteries cost but a friend told me not to get the cheapest, but that I also didn't need the most expensive. I tried to ask about this over the phone and I guess Steve thought I was going to complain about the price. He was very harsh, almost yelling, "Look, we already helped you and went to your car and gave you a jump and we're not charging you for the labor. This is a good price and your'e not going to find a better price anywhere else." I was stunned and said "Okay" and he said I could come get my car and hung up immediately. I tried to ask if it was ready now (like they already put the battery in) or if I should wait for a call but he hung up. I was furious and trying not to cry as I walked to their shopping, hoping that he meant to come now. Steve was on the phone when I got there but I didn't sit down or want to talk. I paid while he was negotiating a price for a car part. He got off the phone as I finished and seemed to recognize that maybe he was harsh and just said that it's a good battery. My very first time to Steve and I am thrilled with the service and would take my cars back again. The check engine light was on in my Lexus SUV. Steve reset it and said that if it came back on to bring it in and he would change out the oxygen sensor, but thought that he was getting a false read. No charge. I really can't say enough good things about Steve's T&G. The mechanics are honest and the prices are as reasonable as it gets. I never feel like he is taking advantage of the fact that I know absolutely nothing about cars- he is genuinely kind and patient in explaining what's going on. I have brought in my old car with tons of lights going off, and Steve told me exactly which problems needed to be fixed immediately and which problems could wait. I took my car here to fix a burnt out headlight, not only did it take them 4 hours to replace but they made it so my brights had to be on in order for my headlights to work! I had just bought a used car at a small dealership and wanted to make sure everything was up to par. They did a 32 point inspection and let me know what was wrong with the car. We needed to fix the struts, which was the only major thing . My husband is good with knowing basics on cars and agreed that was the issue. I had my 2013 Audi A6 serviced at Steve's T&G Motors for two problems; cracked rear bumper and later I brought my car to replace motor mounts. Steve did a great job on the bumper replacing it and matching paint perfectly. You can't even see any differences between original paint and replaced bumper at any angle or light. I was very impressed, and the color on my car, Dakota gray, is not easy to match. Steve was very professional and completed job as promised, in 2 days, and on-time. This is why I decided to go Steve's shop again, one week later, to replace motor mounts. And again, the job was done within a few hours and my car runs great, no annoying engine vibration anymore. I got very good price on both of my repairs, and I was checking with few other places. Highly recommended, will take my car there again if anything needs to be done in the future. read more

Obviously with 5 stars my review will be positive, however I have to address the two negative ones I just read. If the young lady didn't appreciate her conversation with Steve (he's a great guy) and never took her car there then what qualifies her to give him negative feedback. Sounds to me like a very needy person. Secondly, Bo M. if you had damage to your leased car and were willing to pay more to repair it, then I would imagine when you went to pick up the car all you needed to say to Steve was that you weren't happy and how much more would it cost to get it perfect. I can assure you Steve would have made the repairs with Joe's assistance and you would have avoided the problem with your lease return. It sounds as if this was more about money and miscommunication than quality of work. Bo, I suggest you give Steve's T&G a second chance when it comes to maintaining your new vehicle i.e. oil changes and tune ups. I know Steve will make you happy. Okay, I've been going to Steve for years, I've had Escalades repaired there, my Volvo's and later on my Audi and now my Porsche. Steve is friendly, kind and affordable. As for the mechanical everything is always done in a timely manor and I've always been pleased with his work. Now the great part of Steve's T&G and I don't get the bargain deals because of my car - a Porsche. Joe, who works with Steve and runs the body Shop is as kind and good as they come. I've had too many repairs to my Porsche (it's too low) and his paintwork is immaculate, his prices as are Steve's are very fair and reasonable. All I can say is take a few minutes to meet the staff, ask the questions you feel you need and rest assured Steve and Joe will take the best care of your car needs. I highly recommend Steve's T&G and their body and paint work has always been great! I had to replace the fuel door on my husband's 2014 Silverado 1500. They matched the paint perfectly, and it was completed in 1.5 hours. I also have a low spoiler on my 2010 Lexus IS250 and the right bumper was scratched by a cement parking block. I wish I didn't have to review so badly, but my experience here was not good. In the span of two months I had to take my car back not once or twice but FIVE times because my car kept messing up. Here we are a month later and my car just broke down on me again. We've spent over 2000 easily on this car and it should be in pristine condition but as we see it's not. Steve and his partner Raz are both one of the most wonderful, down-to-earth people you'll ever meet. They know how tough it is in this economy, and they try desperately to pass the savings onto you, even if it means them getting a bit less. I took my brand new (only 2 months old) 2012 Acura TL into their shops extremely skeptical and cautious of any sort of paint/body shop. I had cars done with crappy work, and always came out disappointed or slightly satisfied. Some idiot scratched/dented my rear bumper in the parking lot and ran away, and as I was scrambling to find a good shop, I was getting quotes from $400 all the way up to $600. Steve said that he would do it for $325. After approximately a day and a half, my bumper looks as if it had never been scratched, and the paint matches perfectly (very hard for these newer metallic colors). I have been taking my cars to Steve's for several years now. Their quality of workmanship has always been top drawer. I used to take my Jaguar there and now I take my Mercedes.
