Colonial Cafe has been around forever. A staple in Naperville. My family came here every Sunday after church my entire childhood. I live across the country now, but stopping here is mandatory when I'm in town. The wait staff are as nice as they always have been, the food is delicious, the ice cream is even better! Hehe! They have really updated the place while keeping the charm it always had.

I have a lot of fond memories of Colonial ice cream, so on a recent trip to Chicago, we decided to get a quick meal and treat ourselves to some of their delicious ice cream. Boy, were we surprised. The food was delicious! My husband ordered the chicken and waffles, and said it was the best he had ever had. The chicken was crisp and juicy, and the waffles were soft and tasty. The chipotle butter, maple syrup, and pieces of bacon complemented the dish. I had the onion soup, and it was rich and tasty, and covered with a layer of toasted cheese. It really hit the spot. Then came the ice cream, which lived up to expectations. I had a two-scoop turtle sundae with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, caramel, and pecans. I was disappointed they didn't have any butter pecan ice cream, but I quickly got over it. The place has a cozy, old-fashioned ice cream parlor feel, and the staff was friendly and quick to help. Prices are reasonable for the portions, and it's a fun stop whether you're with family, friends, or just treating yourself.

Quick service, big portions, and clean! The food is tasty too - good diner food, and their cinnamon roll pancakes taste just like cinnamon rolls. Great spot for families with kids.

Everything was clean, tasty and inviting! Service tends to be on the slower side, but all our requests were attentively taken care of (except for "gravy on the side" - we got gravy on the side, but also gravy on top... my poor lactose intolerant hubby)

When my kids were little, we came here often. I mean ice cream and burgers are a kid's dream dinner. This isn't going to be a mind blowing meal, but for little ones it's great. Edward Hospital is really close by. Eons ago, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and we left the hospital, baby in tow, and stopped at Colonial Cafe because I had no food at home. Baby tucked safely in her carrier with a blanket over her, so no one would breathe on her. I always think of that day when I drive by. The food is mid. The ice cream is mid. Not bad by any means, but not out of this world. This place is iconic in Naper though. It's been around for ages and kids love it. Recently, my daughter came home for a visit and we'd been shopping at TJ's which shares the same parking lot. On a nostalgic whim, we decided to eat there so she could relive her childhood. Besides better buns, it hasn't changed at all and I hadn't been there in close to 15 yrs. We all had burgers except for my youngest who daringly ordered salmon. I questioned her judgment in ordering salmon at Colonial Cafe, but she swore she liked it. I guess I'll have to take her word for it. I'd return if one of my kids requested it. It's not a date night for adults though.

Pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I had the meatloaf served after 4pm with corn and mashed potatoes. The portion size was great. It included three mini meatloafs. I liked the spiced ketchup they included. It also came with cornbread and honey butter. Delicious! I would get this meal again! Kids meals were very affordable. My son had chicken nuggets with broccoli. It came with milk or choice of drink. My son was very happy with his meal. We were eyeing all the sundaes coming out. I definitely want to come back for dessert!

Steak and eggs were a delight only $24.99! In addition to their pancakes which we do huge. And the server was very attentive and friendly. I can't wait to come back and try their omelette! I love their spuds. Perfectly cooked roasted spuds.

We have heard SOOO much about Colonial Cafe from our local Napervillers so we knew we had to check it out!! Ended up going for breakfast today, Sunday morning, with no reservations. We probably waited only for 15-20 minutes, which was great! We ordered Swedish crepes combo and a breakfast burrito for 2 people! If you're thinking of trying the breakfast burrito, let me say that it's definitely shareable! It comes with TONS of potatoes and beans on the side!! The burrito has chorizo, chicken, cheese, eggs, avacado, and so much other good stuff! Pair it with some hot sauce and you've got the perfect bite! The flavors were so amazing - the sauce on top of the burrito was perfectly tangy and flavorful! The Swedish crepes were unfortunately not as great as we were expecting. Even though the portion size was great, the crepes felt a little over cooked, and the lingerberry topping was not as flavorful as we expected. We did get the Nutella crepes to go which were a lot better but again, we have definitely had more flavorful crepes in the area. Overall, had a pretty good experience for our first time. If I were to come again, the burrito would definitely be my go to!

Was in this area for a check up. Wanted to try something new so we ended up here. Great place. The ambiance is very nice. Seems like and old place and they did a great job in keeping the place nice and tidy. Food is great too. I tried their sandwich with salad and it was awesome. Service was very fast and parking was not a problem.

Our server, Umberto, was attentive and pleasant and took good care of us; he was the best part of our evening. However, this is the first and last time I'll ever eat at Entourage. They promise "a dining experience" on their website, but I could get the same experience at your average Chili's or TGIFriday's without the pretense. Why do I say that? It's the noise...oh, the noise. There were a few tables with large parties, so it was pretty loud. Even leaning in closely, it was hard for my friend and me to hear each other talk. And the screaming kids were something else, emitting ear-piercing screams that get your attention, for all the wrong reasons. I didn't see any staff ask the large parties to keep it down or ask the parents to manage their children, which I guess I can understand. Large parties = more revenue than a two-top. But we did not - could not - linger after we ate our meals, or order coffee, dessert, and/or an after-dinner drink, because it was just too loud in there.

I started with the salted watermelon margarita, which was tasty and refreshing with a nice fruity flavor. It wasn't overly strong, making it easy to sip throughout the meal. For appetizers, we shared the spinach dip, calamari, and buffalo bites. The spinach dip was good, and the chips had a nice salty crunch. The calamari was pretty standard, but there was way too much breading, the squid-to-breading ratio was way off. For my entrée, I ordered the steak bowl. Unfortunately, it wasn't that great. The menu description mentioned quinoa and brown rice, but they were practically nonexistent. There were maybe a few grains of brown rice in the entire dish, and it mostly consisted of a handful of steak cubes and vegetables. The flavor and sauce were good, but it wasn't very filling. Thankfully, I had already filled up on the appetizers. For dessert, I tried the crème brûlée cheesecake. Honestly, it was nothing special and tasted like a thawed frozen cheesecake with some cheap berry compote on the side. Overall, Yard House is a fine option for hosting large groups thanks to its spacious setup, but I wouldn't come here expecting amazing food. The experience was fine, but the food itself was pretty average at most.

Today was a good experience. I just worked out and called to ask about the dress code. No dress code, I'll be right there! I walked in and was greeted immediately and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and gave me time to decide without feeling rushed even as I changed my mind a couple times. I ordered the salmon and Mad Rose to drink. The drink has a lot going on and wasn't for me. It reminded me of a cinnamon orange tea, citrus and spicy. For dinner, I waffled on a couple fish dishes, but went with the salmon. It has a nice, crunchy glaze on it with some nice citrus flavors that weren't overbearing. I wasn't sure how the risotto would taste with the orange, but it worked. I was asked several times how I was doing and how my drinks and food were. Dining solo, I get ignored at times with subpar service. Not tonight access I appreciate that. I ordered from Entourage Downers Grove and was honestly impressed with how well everything held up for delivery. The standout for me was the lobster bisque. It arrived at the perfect temperature, which is pretty impressive for delivery. The bisque was rich and luscious without feeling overly heavy, and the basil oil added a nice brightness that balanced the creaminess beautifully. It also had a generous amount of lobster, including several large chunks, and was a very solid portion overall. The filet mignon sliders were another highlight. Each slider had a substantial piece of filet mignon topped with pickled onions, microgreens, and horseradish cream on brioche buns. The onions and horseradish added enough acidity and bite to balance the richness of the beef without overpowering it. I also tried the Vietnamese summer rolls, filled with roasted shiitake mushrooms, fresh vegetables, and rice noodles, served with both peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce. Everything tasted very fresh, and the sauces complemented the generously stuffed rolls nicely. My only small critique is that cutting them in half made for a prettier presentation, but made them a little awkward to dip and eat. Overall, this was a surprisingly strong delivery experience, and I would absolutely order from them again, or better yet, make it over to the restaurant itself next time I'm in the area.

Altavida's concepts for the three levels are Publico, Rumba, and Altura. Publico (1st Flr)- A South American fusion of food and drinks that will be rotating. The cocktails will be more tequila and mezcal based and food will be subtly rotated based on trends happening in South America. The food menu currently offers tapas, empanadas, ceviche, guacamoles, larger format meat/seafood entrees, and more. They will have a front of our bar as well as a back bar that will specialize in more coffees/coffee cocktails. Rumba (2nd Flr)- The entertainment floor! There is a separate bar on this floor that will specialize in more Rum based cocktails. Additionally, they will have a wine bar area with wines in tap. Lastly, they will have an open area for live music as well as dancing. Their hope is to have a mix of jazz, club music, salsa dancing options available. Altura (3rd Flr)- This floor is still under construction but will have a rooftop patio. The hope is that this space will be an event space both for public and private events. Back to my experience! My partner and I stopped in for a cocktail and to see what Altavida was about. Our first bartender was very nice but was still getting used to the drink recipes and was leaning on their cheat sheets. While we waited, another bartender kindly told us all about the restaurant and its focus on hospitality. Unfortunately, each bartender had a slightly different explanation of the restaurant's goal concepts which was confusing. We ended up ordering the El Toro and Vaquero (both mezcal drinks). Both were VERY spirit forward to the point that it may have needed better balance. Both drinks had a nice presentation with garnishes, color, and a skull feature at the bottom of the glass. Lastly, we saw many people walk up and look confused as there was no formal host stand. They didn't know if they should seat themselves or wait for someone. Overall, there still seems to be some kinks needing to be worked out as well as some conceptual editing. I feel they are trying to achieve too much and it ends up being confusing for staff and guests. I hope with time, Altavida is extremely successful in the Naperville area and I hope to circle back after some time passes.

Edwin, the general manager was so friendly and accommodating by making sure that everything was to our liking. He is a gem. My husband and I ordered a few different tapas to share. We started with the empanadas and they were truly 10/10, highly recommend! We had the beef and chicken with the chimichurri sauce. We also tried the papas bravas and those were delicious as well. They are spicy and have a nice kick. The portion is pretty big and shareable. Last, we had chicken en mole. Omg, so good! They knocked it out of the park with this one. The presentation is very pleasing and the flavor is 10/10! I'm a hot sauce girly and even carry it in my bag just in case. The sauce they had in the dish was so good that I didn't even think about adding hot sauce! The rice and chicken along with the sauce is chef's kiss. I also tried the Brussels sprouts but they were my least favorite of everything. They should go back to the drawing board on that one. The drinks we had were solid. My husband had an espresso martini and dragonfruit margarita, while I had a mango margarita. All were good. Needless to say, I had an amazing evening at Altavida!
