This is the bar pie pizza staple. I got takeout from this, just a cheese pizza. The crust was thin and chewy while the cheese and sauce were ok. The pizza is not bad and if you like bar style then I would say get it here since it is reasonably priced for the quality and portion. read more

Wow- how did I not know about this place? And why was it empty at lunch today??? A friend knew of this in Connecticut and suggested it. We got separate pizzas since our tastes were wildly different and I didn't want his half pizza contaminating mine :). My friend got the sausage, anchovies and hot oil. He loved it and ate most of it. Holy shit I don't know how people think the pizza here is good. It's apparently a staple in Connecticut and honestly whenever I hear someone is from there I ask them if they've heard and 9/10 they do. This Arlington location is definitely bleeding money from the home location(s) in Connecticut. They need to go back to doing Burgers and actual food a "Grill" would serve - not this cracked with grease poured on top. I don't eat Ranch with my pizza but I do recall they literally laugh at the notion of a guest asking for it and many servers will say - "What are we? Cheesecake Factory?" (I used to work here) They have a badass design for the building but man it's such a waste. They won't show the debate or UFC fights because one is too controversial and the other well... Colony Grill is a solid place to hang with friends. They have a pretty good list of beers and other drinks at reasonable prices. For food, they only serve pizza. While that's limiting in some respects, it allows for quick, efficient, flexible service. The pizzas come out quickly, they're legitimately good, and a pizza that serves two hungry adults for a full meal or more people if you're looking more for a snack or aren't super hungry is $10.50 plus $1.50 per topping. The breakfast pizzas (served all day), topped with egg, cheese, and your choice of bacon or sausage are $13.50... and they're delicious. They have a number of TVs for watching games. They have bar seating, high tops, standard table seating, and booths... You can find seating options for a wide range of gatherings. The service is quick and a casual sort of friendly. While across a handful of visits, Ive always gotten pretty good service, my wife and I got especially good service on a recent brunch visit. They don't have super fancy or super big screens, or the most screens. Their food and drinks aren't fancy. But, if you want a casual spot to eat a pizza, watch a game, and drink a Yeungling, Colony Grill is a great option. read more

Sometimes you just need that extra greasy pizza that his the spot. Look no further! Colony House's menu is not expansive (they only make pizza) but they make up for it in quality. It's not artisan pizza but it's the perfect pizza to pickup after night out or to grab a few boxes for a game night with friends. They don't have salads (although they do have a salad pizza.... The pizza itself was fine. Thin crust pizza is my go-to but here there wasn't that much sauce or cheese. The breakfast pizza just tasted like toast with dry egg and some bacon. The hot oil pepperoni with sausage was probably the best one of the three we ordered. Overall, a spot with lots of beer and pizza so if that's your thing, you might like it. Friendly waiter but I had picked up fries from another place because my friends and I were walking around the area and wanted to pop in for pizza, and another waiter asked me to put them away which didn't make sense to me since we all ordered a whole pizza and were waiting for them, and they didn't even have fries on the menu. I was excited to hear that a new pizza place had opened up in Clarendon and the taste did not disappoint at all. But I'm docking a star for the price point and some transparency issues. Food: 4/5 I tried the Hot Oil Pizza with sausages (4.5) and the half-salad half meatball/onion pizza (4), which were both great. I would have to say that the pizzas can get quickly pricy if you add on toppings. It would make sense to only charge half for the topping if it's only for half the pie, but I guess I was wrong. So stick to one or two toppings and it will be very much worth your trip. More than that, I would say would be a bit overkill and not worth the price point. Also, I was told on the phone that though they don't have a happy hour menu, the drinks are cheaper than what's priced in the community. This didn't turn out to be true with draft beers for $7 and my IPA can being $10. I wish that the prices were on the menu because there's a lack of transparency. Service 4.5/5 The service was great and I feel like they did everything they could to be accommodating in a new environment. It was also good of them to suggest balsamic vinegar as a dipping sauce, as it was unique. Cleanliness 4/5: They are abiding by all covid safety measures. Ambiance 4.5/5: I would really like to see their wall of heroes fleshed out. It's a nice place that could double as a local pub but also a casual date night eatery. read more

It took my friend's wife, who is from Iowa, to tell my dumb arse -- a guy born and raised in Connecticut, to try Colony Grill which originated in Stamford, CT. Yes, there are similar places in North Jersey and suburban NY, but this is a genre of pizza I never experienced, and I really wish I had done so sooner. With Pete's Apizza across the street now gone, this is probably the closest experience to New Haven-style pizza you can get down here, save for Pepe's outside of Old Town, of course. Put simply, this pizza is excellent. They have BLACK olives (the way Jeebus intended) and I even like the anchovies. Personally, I prefer eating it on site, fresh out of the oven. It travels OK, but it cools faster than other pizzas given its thinner crust, so be warned if that matters to you. However, chuck it in the oven, or heat on the stove in a skillet when you get home to recreate the experience. The bar is great to sit and eat at as it has lots of TVs and the entire setup of the place is quite comfortable and accommodating for parties of varying sizes. The staff has always been friendly and tolerant considering the last couple of times I have been there I have been knee-deep in the domestic swill offered from the good people at Budweiser. Sadly, I must dock one star because if, you are based in CT, and don't offer Foxon Park White Birch beer, you earn a trip to Dante's Sixth Circle of Hades. All joking aside, I am SO glad this place is within stumbling distance from my home. read more

First I really do like their thin crust bar pie style pizza, I like that you can easily customize them and the interior is very nice. But I really don't understand their business model (yes I know it has worked for 90 years but maybe not with Clarendon rents), add some appetizers and side salads - that way people can linger and have multiple drinks, also I don't think of it as dinner place - just a pie isn't enough. Whenever we go in (lunchtime) it's pretty empty and with three empty restaurants nearby it might be time to adapt or die. read more

I am not normally a thin crust pizza fan but my oh my (!!!) this place blew me away. This pizza is one of THE BEST I've ever had -and I love pizza A LOT. There's so much flavor in each slice, it's crispy and it does not make you feel gross after so what more could you ask for?! We did not dine in and instead ordered two pizzas to go and it's best to eat hot. Even hot, it's still crispy! Next time I'm in town, I will certainly be returning here for their pizza. The fact that this place only has pizza and drinks on their menu shows they are truly pizza experts. Incredible spot for cult favorite pizza. Pizza (or a salad) are your only food options so know this before you go! Their pizza is famous for a reason. You pay per topping and the regulars would advise you to make the peppers or oil as one of them. My go to is meatballs onions and mushrooms. They also offer vegan cheese as an alternative and it's Daiya brand. It's one of the few places with good vegan cheese options. I had been hearing about Colony Grill for years ever since I found out then now-Rangers GM Chris Drury was involved in the business. I never expected one to make is way down to my neck of the woods but after running a 5 mile race in Virginia Beach that morning and a 3 hour drive north, I felt this would be the perfect spot to visit. All I had heard about was hot oil this and hot oil that. So I got the hot oil, along with sausage on my pizza. From the time I ordered, it took about 13-14 minutes to come out to my bar table. I enjoyed the pizza, it was super crispy all the way through, the oil added a very notable kick, nothing painful, but certainly strong. The amount of sausage was disappointing, I had maybe two crumbles for each slice. Finishing the pizza was no problem, especially with such a thin crust. Prices are reasonable enough, although I had to pay to park at a garage down the street. And they do have a full bar with a great variety of beers and seltzers. read more

It's very much a sports bar atmosphere which is fun, but if that's not your vibe they do a ton of take out service as well. There's plenty of seating and even an upstairs section too. Each topping is an additional cost and there's no recommended pizza. Everyone will recommend the spicy oil, but I honestly didn't notice the spice it added. Although they do claim to be Irish originated, I feel I need to warn anyone who walks in off the street that this is not an Irish pub and does not serve Irish food. I was mildly disappointed when we sat at the bar as I was craving some Irish food and a Smithwick's or Harp. With that being said, I thought that pizza was tasty, and the staff were friendly and efficient. They do have a decent variety of beers, although few Irish options.
