We bought the pool during the…read morepandemic and the company insisted we would easily be able to install the liner ourselves. This was not true and although we were able to install it ourselves it was not perfect and we had to replace the liner within a one year. We installed it ourselves again and it leaked around the skimmer until the end of last summer when thoughts of just taking the pool down (due having to refill the pool daily) entered our minds. Our skills were obviously not up to par in pool liner installation so in March of this year we decided to inquire about getting some help from Haven Pool and Spa. We are so pleased this is what we did. Admittedly, we were taken aback at the price of buying a liner and getting it installed as it was as much as we paid for the pool. However, knowing that it took us days to do it ourselves (and it was not done correctly in the end), forced us to make the decision to have the professionals do it for us. Boy, did it make a difference and we truly wish this is the way we would have done it in 2020. I can tell our pool will last many years now and we will not have to continually worry about leaking and other issues. Use the professionals at Haven Pool and Spa! Thank you to this company and I am headed to the pool right now! Happy Summer!

I do not recommend The Pool & Spa House for pool maintenance, repair, or product sales. Despite…read moretheir many retail locations, their knowledge of pool equipment and proper maintenance is extremely limited, and they frequently recommend unnecessary services and expensive replacements. We used them for years simply because we didn't know better. One of our earliest red flags should have been when we hired them to balance our water. Two days later, the pool was completely cloudy and burned everyone's eyes. I watched the technician pour in gallons of muriatic acid -- something I now know will crash pH to unsafe levels. That was our first clue that they were not the experts they claimed to be. We continued using them, even replacing an expensive piece of equipment at their recommendation. But the final straw was when our heater stopped working and displayed a "lo flow" error. Hayward heaters can throw that error for many reasons -- up to 13 different causes -- yet the technician didn't even check the heater. He took one quick visual look around and immediately tried to convince me that I needed to replace the sand in our filter, which costs thousands of dollars. When I repeatedly asked him to actually inspect the heater (the actual equipment with the error), he reluctantly opened it, said he "didn't see anything wrong," and then became rude, aggressive, and defensive about his "years of experience." After he left, we called another company. They found the real issue in minutes: the flow switch simply needed adjustment. If I had listened to the Pool & Spa House tech, I would have spent thousands of dollars and still had a broken heater. Their retail stores are also extremely predatory. They refuse to sell basic pool chemicals unless you provide your full address and personal information -- something they claim is "policy," even though it's not required by any state or federal regulation. It's simply for tracking and upselling. I still tried to buy from them to support local business, but even when I tried to buy stabilizer they argued with me about the amount I wanted, tried to push additional products I didn't need, and eventually refused to sell to me when I declined to give my address. People should know: you don't need all the specialized products they push. You can easily maintain your own pool using the Trouble Free Pool method with basic chemicals like borax, muriatic acid, chlorine, and baking soda -- all available at local locations that carry pool supplies like Ace Hardware in Happy Valley and Milwaukie for much less. What you do need is a company that can diagnose equipment issues correctly and honestly. For that, go to Classic Pool Spa & Hearth. Their technicians actually know what they're doing, they don't upsell, and they've saved us money and unnecessary repairs. I will say the people who answer the service line at The Pool & Spa House are very kind -- but unfortunately, kindness doesn't make up for poor training, aggressive sales tactics, and inaccurate technical advice.

I met with multiple sales reps of multiple companies and noticed a trend - very slimy, shady, used car type sales people. Prices wouldn't be posted anywhere, they'd claim everything is on massive discount, then when I said no thanks they'd throw in an extra 10% off because they liked me. The process was unclear and felt slimy. Smash cut to walking into West Coast. Immediately upon walking in the prices were posted on the wall, and they were substantially cheaper than even the great discounts other manufacturers were offering. Forrest was honest, genuine, and extremely knowledgeable about his products, maintenance, and all the questions that come along with being a first time hot tub buyer. Honestly, he was a huge breath of fresh air. I am super satisfied with my experience with west coast spas as well as the tub I got which I use every day. They carry a wide variety of plants, flowers, shrubs and trees. Their garden center staff is knowledgeable as well. Their prices are much more reasonable than nurseries. We come here regularly for home and yard DIY project materials...from rock, bark and fencing to lumber, plumbing and electrical supplies. They have anything and everything you can think of at affordable prices. We've even used their tool rentals with no issues. Their employees are mostly knowledgeable; however, we have been directed to incorrect aisles for items. We also seem to see many employees when we don't need help and no employees when we do. Strange, but true. During our most recent visit, I noticed they've pretty much done away with individual checkout counters. It's all self checkout now. I don't mind self checkout, but what I do mind is employees barging in front of me at a self checkout station, grabbing the scan gun to ring me up and ask if I want to open a Home Depot credit card. It defeats the purpose of "self checkout", and can be extremely off-putting. They should allow customers to check themselves out and ask for help when needed. Overall a nice, clean location. They could improve some of their customer service practices. We will continue to shop here, mainly for their affordable prices, and one stop shopping.

Drove cross town only to find a massively busy garden center with just two checkers and a line leading back to the store. Tried to find the pavers...not there. Flagged down a staff member who had to find the garden manager...then the store manager. They finally decided that the pavers did not exist. (How about taking them off the website?) As I left I could hear a message overhead about a "system issue" with checkout. I couldn't wait to leave. Used to be one of my favorite DIY stores...not anymore. Btw, I will not be forced to download the HD app just for the privilege of using curbside pickup. Can you get more customer-hostile?
