I like this is the best spot for quick Chinese food from steamers. The food is fresh and flavorful and the portions are huge. My family has been coming here to order their party platters for years! They give hugeeee portions and they are so good! When I went to school in Davis I would stop by here for their combo plates too, and one combo plate would last me 2-3 meals because they gave so much. It's such a good deal, especially if you're a student. Personally, I loveee their cream cheese filled wontons and smelt fish as well. Their egg rolls and potstickers are huge! A really worth it deal. I have also ordered party platters for my friends' parties and sooo many people compliment the food especially when I bring the salt and pepper chicken and the fried fish fillets. Those are always winners. Aside from those you can't go wrong with the chow mein or fried rice. If you do order party platters I would suggest calling in advance. Man it breaks my heart to write this review I absolutely love combo express especially there salt and pepper fried chicken and there bbq chicken, me and my family have been coming here for many years very regularly it's by far the best tasting quick Chinese food places in the area, definitely better than hops sings or other competitors around Vallejo, yesterday at 3:45 pm 8/28/21 I witnessed something that shocked me and disgusted me at the same time, the cook brought out a fresh bowl of chicken and set it on the counter, then it fell upside down behind the counter and the food hit the floor they scrambled to pick it up and throw away some but now set the half full bowl on the counter. I was watching the whole time waiting for them to do the right thing and throw it away since it all hit the floor, I said out loud if you put that in there I'm leaving, but they were so confident nobody seen anything and have no regard for the health and well being of there customers and the community they waited a couple minutes then the lady with short hair and glasses mixed it right it with the remaining tray like nothing happened and I looked her right it the eyes and walked out. I went to my vehicle and called them and let them know I seen what they did and lost a customer for life, I'm sure I've spent a lot of money through the years eating there, but never again I'm ashamed they all knew about it and did nothing, I've eaten all over the world, Philippines, China, and had no one ever dropped food on the floor and tried to serve it to me right in front of my face!!! I'm more heartbroken than anything because I fell in love with your food many years ago and now I will not enjoy it anymore. Best SaltNPepper chicken HANDS DOWN , next too Oaklands anyways. Only come here for the Chicken & Potstickers, everything else is a pretty much past for me. Ive tried to like their other entrees but they just aren't it. The noodles are good on a GOOD day. Other than that I usually grab a item combo with rice/chicken & some potstickers for the wife. It is hidden , have to know vallejo to know where to find. Other than that no complaints. Ladies are friendly place is cleaner than most Chinese places I've been too. Okay, I have been on a mission to find a good Chinese restaurant and my cousin recommended this one. I ordered fresh chow fun. Once again there were tiny bits of beef, like the left over on the bottom of a bowl that's hard to pick up with chop sticks. I made a mistake of ordering ready-made sweet and sour; it tasted pasty, the batter is just stuck on the meat too mushy to eat; I tell you, I lost my appetite. So I'll do a real update on this soon. I've been there a couple of times for take out. My family has as well. My family has order a lot of different things there and they are satisfied because the quantity is big and the price is cheap. So if your one of those people you'll be happy here. I on the other hand, really don't care for pricing as long as the quality is good. Unfortunately, I've only had their fish. But their fish is bomb! So good. I have friends that come from the other side of Vallejo just for the fish. My daughter, picky 6 year old, craves the fish from there. YUM! So like I said cheap, big quantities. But I can ONLY speak for the fish on taste. **Also, it's not in the best neighborhood, but I'm not gonna take a star off for something that they cannot control unless they move to god knows where. Did Door Dash because our regular place was closed on Monday. Fried rice and chow mein were okay, there was a hair in the noodles, sweet and sour chicken was mushy, beef broccoli was good. Pot stickers were crispy on the bottom but the tops was gooey, not a good combo, but the pot sticker filling was delicious. Sort of hit and miss on this one. Maybe next time if we order on a Monday we should try the salt and pepper chicken everyone else suggests. read more

My favorite is the Chicken w/Spicy Salt - savory, freshly fried morsels of chicken that are perfectly seasoned! There are tons of delicious eats on the menu, a lot of which other customers ordered during my visit -- this is a great thing: food never sits on the table for very long and is constantly cooked fresh and replenished regularly. I'm happy that there is a "secret menu" and that the variety of eats offered here is already pretty vast, because that's yet another great reason to pay another visit. On the service front, I'm enamored by how personalized the service is, and how the staff is able to keep up with so many regulars! You always are made to feel like you are at home here. I've been a Vallejo resident for 30+ yrs the staff has been the same since I can remember they are always great with customer service they get you in and out fast the food is always fresh. The lines are long around lunch hours and after 5 but the price for the amount of food is great and the food is good as well. They have the typical trays out for choosing a: sweet n sour/ chow /mein/ fried rice/ broccoli and beef etc.. But my weakness here is their fried chicken wings. Combo Express has stood the test of time and still just as good as it was when i was in jr high. Its a small place in the middle of a strip mall near the asian supermarket and this is truly a "diamond in the rough." The food is really flavorful and the quantity they give you in your combo meal leaves little room for anything else maybe except some water to wash it all down with. Friendly and quick service. The food has been very consistent and rarely have they disappointed me. I think the food is cooked in mandarin style Small space with with like only 8 tables but usually you just take it to go. You cant fail with the choices on the steam table. They do have menu items that you can order. I recommend you just call in advance so you don't have to wait. Ive also ordered things that aren't even on the menu like fried smelt fish (hella good) and they will do it. I cater from them all the time. This place has the best fried smelt. My whole family only goes here for the smelt. I have to call in my order but that's no biggie at least I know it is always fresh. I usually get one order of smelt , fried fish fillets and steamed veggies with tofu in garlic sauce. My order alone comes to $35 and that's on the expensive end of this place but it's because it's a special order . Other than that things are usually pretty inexpensive here .
