Although I understand this is a restaurant that is located inside of a market, I still expect there to be some professionalism in running the restaurant. There is only one lady working the register taking orders, and the same lady clears the tables and calls out the food orders. I do see some sort of system when it comes to keeping track of orders and all that, but my experience was probably not the best here due to a lack of staff. My family arrived at the "restaurant" and saw that there were 4 seats open. We wanted to sit there, but there were stacks of dishes left behind from obviously the previous customer. We stood there for about 5-7 minutes before we finally decided to ask the lady if we were expected to clear the tables. She then said to us that of course she would clean it. My mom finally ordered the food (she was terrible at making suggestions by the way), and we waited at the uncleaned seats for what felt like 10 minutes before she cleaned the table off. She still left trash behind so I threw away the trash myself. Anyways, we got our food and ate it. None of it was very spectacular, but at the same time, it wasn't terrible. What ruined it for me was when she completely talked back to a customer who wasn't fluent in Korean, who made the attempt to order in Korean. I could absolutely see the look of disgust in her face when they didn't understand what she was saying to them, and I felt so bad for the couple. I could totally tell that the couple's eating experience was ruined because of the lady's attitude. I probably would've given 2 stars or less.. but their kimchi was sooo good!!! lol. it may be the only reason I ever return! read more

Started to crave these dumplings after seeing how huge they are in pictures. I love to eat so the bigger the better!! It definitely satisfied my craving, but it also reminded me that it wasn't ever that good. It's big, yeah, but it tasted like any other dumpling. I also got the black bean noodle and was disappointed with that too. Their black bean sauce is too watery for my taste. I like the sauce to be a sauce and not some water-downed sauce. Their ramen was also nothing to rave about. It's literally cup-o-noodles noodles in a bowl. Just buy a pack of dry noodles or a cup noodle if you want their version of ramen. Service was ok. I seriously love coming here on a cold, rainy day. The best two dishes here are the Zha jia mian (Black Bean Noodle) $5.99 and Chao Ma Mian (Spicy Seafood Noodle soup) $6.99. The bowls are ginormous and plenty for sharing. There are 3 full size tables for sitting, as well as bar seats wrapped around the food stand. Definitely the best zha jia mian place. This place would probably take me back to memories of traditional food stalls from the old-country...if I had ever been to the old country. It's an open kitchen, flanked on all sides by bar-style seating. It's small and somewhat cozy as long as you ignore the fact that it's in a supermarket. I read the reviews before I went, and decided to get an order of yakisoba for my own curiosity and an order of king dumplings to see if the rumors were indeed true. I'm not sure if they messed up my order, but what I received was not yakisoba...in fact...it was not soba (it could have been yaki...I wasn't watching). It was definitely udon (point deductions for getting my hopes up). Error aside, it was a decent dish; a little heat, a lot of chicken, and served in a portion large enough to feed three. The dumplings were delicate in both texture and flavor (just what I expected), but the sauce was overwhelmingly salty. The sauce I do not count as a deal-breaker because it's easily to regulate. It's good value for decent food. I will be returning at some point to try the other dishes. read more

Great place for a "Korean-home cooked" meal. The King dumplings are the must have!!! I usually get the ramen combo because it's a meal that can easily feed two. There Jya Jya Myung is great, too. JaJangMyeon was the bowl of choice on my visit. The lady working welcomed me with a nice hello and asked if I was going to dine in. I said yes and she prepared a spot for me. I cannot understand why people seem to write about rude service. Business people are in the business to serve people and to become profitable. I usually receive good to better service wherever I go - and I received very good service here. The JaJangMyeon here is way better than other places. And the Kim Chee is very good as well. When I was dining, 3 others were dining in, and all seemed to be enjoying their time and food. I'm glad I yelped JaJangMyeon in diamond bar. This place is very freeway convenient and the market is clean as well for an Asian market. $7 for a great lunch is a bargain especially when you get a great bowl of JaJangMyeon. By the way, next time I drop by which will be the next time I'm on the 57 freeway, I will try something different along with the JaJangMyeon: I asked the lady if the JaJangMyeon was their best dish, and she said she had a few others that can't be missed. I haven't actually tried the food yet. I ordered a Jja jang myun, but will be saving it for later. So why the review? This review is based strictly on the ordering/cleanliness/cooking. Ordering is standard, one thing i recommend prior to ordering is walking around the entire, yes entire, island of a restaurant because there is no full menu at the ordering area. The menu is scattered over the acrylic half walls, roofing, etc. The menu is very extensive as well. You can get anything from a bento box of korean or american food, soon tofu and other stews, korean chinese jja jang myun, sweet and sour pork to chicken salad and chicken pad thai. Yes, they have pad thai and mongolian noodles. They are like a food court in one small stall. The concern with the menu... High potential for sub par food. Although I haven't tried the food yet, I am a bit weary. The cashier accepts payment then pulls a handful of noodles from a container with her bare hands and dunks it into a large pot of boiling water. ( I would recommend eating noodle dishes early in the day as I dont think the pot of water gets changed) Once the noodles were close to done, the cook, an elderly man who was eating fish stew at the counter and spitting the bones out onto his hand then onto a napkin, took my noodles out and used his hand to gather the noodles that hung over the bowl. The noodles were clumpy so he only placed loose noodles into my togo container. Then picked his tooth with his finger nail. Then dug his bare hands back into the fresh noodle container, placed on top of the noodle container cover and proceeded to separate the noodles. I hope the jja jang myun is good... read more

Did somebody just say KING DUMPLING?! After trying this place inside of a Korean supermarket about 2 years ago, I've been a huge fan since, and by that I mean, I'm here almost once a week! My usual order: -Ramen Combo - it's basically packaged ramen with egg and it comes with 3 king dumpling. It definitely fills you up. -Yakisoba - if I don't feel like getting the ramen combo, I just get the chicken yakisoba (it's kind of like stir fried udon noodles). If you don't want to get an order of king dumplings (I think it comes with 6), you can always order it by piece and it's only $1 for 1. So whenever I order the Yakisoba, I just ask for 2 king dumplings on the side for a dollar a piece and I still get my fix. Here's the kicker, when you get the side of chili (it comes with every order), put soy sauce and vinegar (I prefer more vinegar than soy sauce - it's just preference), and you dip the king dumpling in it and put a piece of the chili on the dumpling, it's soooo good!! The service is good and the owner is such a sweetheart, but when it gets really packed, their service tends to lack.. by a lot. read more

However, over the years, it seems like the quality of the food has gone down as I have noticed that the noodles tend to be a bit doughy and the broth oilier than it used to be. First time I've had this type of authentic style Korean food (that wasn't Korean BBQ - which is fantastic always). I liked the king dumplings which were solid but not AMAZING. The Mongolian beef dish was spicy and full of flavor, my favorite of the three. The Black bean noodle was pretty weird though, and the flavors were lacking. I tried the Black Bean Noodles because so many gave it high marks, but I didn't find them to my taste. The reason is that I didn't know that the sauce is so sweet. If that's the way it's supposed to be then it was really authentic. However, I was expecting more savory and I like spicy so I had to put about half of the container of chili powder that was on the table into it to take away enough sweetness so I could get through the dish. Yelp should seriously have the option of giving no stars at all. My family and I have gone here for a while and have never had problems. The dumplings are what we mainly get, and they're delicious and flavorful. However, I rate this place 1 star because of the customer service my sister and I received today. My sister and I went in and ordered 2 boxes of dumplings. The lady was very curt with us and was giving us attitude as she said the wait time would be over an hour. Ok. that's fine. The lady rang up the order on the register, and the total came out to $60 for TWO boxes of dumplings. My sister handed over her credit card while asking if the real total was $60, only to receive a "Credit card fee is $1.35". Ok, ignores my sister's question and just continues to ring us up. So I step up and asked the lady if the total is really $60. She then proceeds to roll her eyes and sigh while saying, "No. I rang up your order with the order before." That's when I asked, "Ahjumma (way of saying Miss/Lady in korean), are you mad at something?" And she proceeded to say that she was just busy. Working in the food service industry, I understand when you're busy you don't want to deal with customer's questions at times. But my sister and I were just trying to order 2 boxes of dumplings, and we received attitude. On top of that, the woman never told us how much we were paying for the dumplings. She just automatically charged it and handed us the receipt. And I was so appalled that the lady rolled her eyes at me simply for asking if $60 was the correct price, preposterous. So an hour and a half later my mom and I come back to pick up the dumplings. The dumpling making station was empty with no box of dumplings to be seen. When she recognized me, the lady said, "Oh. You came NOW? I thought you were going to come back in an hour. You'll have to wait for us to make 2 boxes." So on top of coming back after over an hour, we had to wait even longer for them to make our dumplings since they gave our boxes to someone else. That's when I said, "Do you always do business like this? We already paid and you told us to come back in over an hour. So you gave our boxes to someone else?" And she tried to defend saying she said to come back in EXACTLY an hour. Um, no you didn't lady. You said come back in OVER an hour. Then while my mom and I were waiting, she proceeded to sigh and groan about my attitude towards her. I get it. I was disrespectful for talking back to an adult. But I have never faced such ridiculous service before. Giving a customer attitude for simply ordering then giving the boxes of dumplings we paid for away to someone else? LOL. I have no reaction but to laugh at this ridiculous customer service. I love the food here; it's delicious. Yesterday was a diaster. We went and ordered noodles and jajangmyun. Noodles came out quick but was not good. How can you go wrong with ramen? Next, our jajangmyun wasnt coming out. 5 people after us received their jajangmyun. Then another jajangmyun was taken togo. Not only was that 30minute wait but all 6 people received it!so we asked what was going on. The cashier said " were making yours extra chewier and better" WTH?!?! We were so mad and said what do you mean extra special?! Cashier gets all crazy and said here "take your money then" The cook tried to apologise on her behalf and said sorry he missed the order. Plus, I wanted something simple that I could take home. So there you go... when I opened up the "bowl" at home, I noticed that it was bigger than I expected. Then when I had a taste, I was disappointed. There is absolutely no flavor to the chicken or the sauce. You might as well as douse the chicken with water because that's what it tasted like. This used to be my go to lunch spot when I worked out here. Their stuff is reasonably priced and consistently delicious. My favorites would be their Korean ramen (no it's not a waste of money) and spicy seafood noodle soup. Their jajangmyun is good but I like new garden's better. Try their king dumplings if you have a big appetite. They have a ramen dumpling combo where you get a full ramen order plus a few dumplings. Great deal but too much food for me. This is a humble stand inside of Hannam Chain that can boast the best jjamppong east of LA. Jjajangmyeon was a little disappointing, which is why I knocked a star off. King's dumplings are amazing dipped in two-thirds vinegar/one-third soy sauce. If you sit at the bar you can see them make the dumplings from scratch. Fried chicken is a little fatty but excellent as well. Combo House has a water dispenser but I recommend buying a drink in Hannam Chain! I love this place! Very quick service and delicious food (although the price could be lower as it's a bit much). My favorites are the king dumpling (mandu) and sweet and sour fried chicken. The king dumplings' name is truly fitting.. the size of it is fit for a king! You can order them steamed or fried but I personally prefer the fried one :) you can also order them frozen so you can store them in your freezer at home and cook whenever you please. Their take out service is very fast as well. I almost always call in my usual order of shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour fried chicken, and chicken yakisoba on the daily during the summer months and it's always ready to be picked up in 10 minutes!
