My husband and I stopped in for lunch last Friday having never been here before. We both ordered salad wraps and were told they had no tomatoes because the delivery was late. We both said we'd take the salad wraps anyway. I had the greek salad wrap and he had the buffalo chicken wrap. Both were tasty. Fast forward 16 hours and I am throwing up and feeling awful. Two hours later my husband is doing the same. We have never been so sick. Even today, 5 days later I am not feeling 100%. We immediately figured out that the salad wraps were the likely cause of our food poisoning. This was confirmed after reading another review mentioning food poisoning in the same timeframe. It's really too bad because we enjoyed our experience until getting sick, but definitely can't recommend Comella's after getting food poisoning. read more

Please don't waste your time at the Concord, Massachusetts location. The chicken parmigiana and the eggplant parmigiana were accentuated by Ragu-like sauce. The garlic bread was mushy and tasteless. I came here a year ago (I live close by) and I'm sorry to say it hasn't improved since then. They brought a second order of garlic bread and the crust was a little crunchy. We eat here when time is short. Its also a great spot for seriously cheap pizza if you are feeding a small army of kids. The food is OK, a few steps above institutional fare. The portions are pretty large, service is hit or miss. Kids love the shrimp scampi and the calamari. read more

The manager of this location was just aweful. She is a heavy set woman who is likely in her forties. When we tried to order, she was beyond rude and condescending even though we had never been there. In addition, she was yelling at her staff and making everyone around her uncomfortable. The food was good but we took it to go since he behavior was appalling. read more

Pizza and Pasta at a great Price. My niece and I just had lunch here. We had never discovered Comella's at their previous location across the street and down the alley. The menu (which is written on a huge blackboard that covers one wall of the restaurant) is extensive, with a long list of pizza, pasta, wraps, salads, sandwiches, and appetizers. My niece had a sausage pizza and I had a caprese sandwich. The pizza was very good -- nice crust, tangy sauce, and lots of sausage for eight bucks. The caprese sandwich was outstanding -- the balsamic dressing was just right and the fresh-baked baguette was delicious. Seating is limited, but a table opened up shortly after we ordered at the counter. Lots of people seem to take out and the tables turn over pretty quickly since the restaurant is mostly self service (i.e., you order at the counter, take your drinks and plates with you, and they bring your food to your table when ready). Bottom line: This is a fun place with large quantities of good quality food at low prices. It's a great in-between family restaurant: More of a restaurant experience than you'd get at a pizza joint, but more informal and lot faster than a full-service restaurant. When dining with kids (or a group of friends going to or coming from other activities) it's a great option. Great addition to dining options in Concord. read more

I like Comellas. Love the new building it is in. Nice and reasonable prices, seating, and staff. I am not OBSESSED with their pizza but it is definitely good and a nice place to chill with family and friends on a weekend. Like it a lot! read more

Since my previous review, there has been a big improvement in the service. The majority of the help seems to be quite pleasant now. Food is still great. Biggest problem now is the parking, but that's to be expected. read more

I love comella's; the one nearer to me in Chestnut Hill. was in Concord and stopped in to pick up some meatballs. What a tremendous difference ...tasted PORKY.... whereas in chestnut hill...beef is what you taste. They were mushy and just awful. I'd never return..and yes, the staff is unprofessional; I observed their interaction with several customers and it was poor; they need training. sorry, won't be returning and will not recommend to others, either. read more

I give it 3 stars for food but 1 star for service. I had a horrible experience with comellas recently when I placed a large order for pizza, paid over the phone, and had someone else pick it up. The staff lied to my friend repeatedly and charged her again for the order. The manager remembered me and admitted that I was correct but no one apologized for lying!!!! Truly absurd customer service. Also, as a side note, the plates are absurdly small. The food is literally falling off the plates as it is brought out to you. read more

This used to be our favorite place to eat, as the food was always wonderful. We've been going for 4 years. We always order the cheese pizza and the homemade fusilli with marinara sauce. The last few visits, the pizza has been undercooked (even when I ask for it to be made golden brown on the edges but not burnt). They have also changed their marinara sauce. It used to be perfect. Now it is too sweet. The crust of the pizza has also changed. I'm not sure if they are using cheaper ingredients. Their pizza chef definitely needs to be trained to time the pizzas in the oven. read more

Okay what's going on with this location? We have been ordering takeout on a regular basis since it opened in Bedford which used to be for the entire family and now it's just down to our son. He really will eat anything pasta related and is not too picky. To be clear he still thinks it tastes great. But each time we order the "mess" I feel the quality seems to get worse for the price. May be time to rethink this menu item or its price as I see many complain about it. The pasta was kind of goo like. Sticky. No taste to the sauce. Very little meat. Come on Comella's hire a chef or manager to ensure this mainstream Italian food doesn't degrade to coming in behind canned Chef Boyardee. It would also be nice if it were hot. We live four blocks away so not an issue with drive time home. Not too much to ask right? Listen to your customers. Bedford will pay for good food but not a"cold mess". Can't beat that 5 dollar cheese pizza! The new decor is a good touch

Stumbled upon this restaurant after a day at Walden Pond and was impressed! It's a casual place to eat, you order at the counter, but the atmosphere is much nicer than the typical type of place you would order at the counter. The food was delicious! The meatballs, pasta, and red sauce were all wonderful. The portions were good sized and the prices were reasonable. I love the concept of their "messes" with mystery ingredients. I have a friend who goes here frequently and she is also very impressed by the food (she primarily gets takeout). read more

We had a pizza; half mushrooms, peppers and onions and half eggplant. Very bland. The cheese and the sauce where tasteless. The eggplant was breaded and fried and VERY greasy. Not worth a return visit. Even though the place was practically empty, service was slow. read more

I love Comella's and the new location on Main Street is great. You can't go wrong with a $5 large cheese pizza, it's a great quick option in a pinch. I think the best thing on their menu is the buffalo chicken pizza, it has ruined all other places for me. It's so light and tasty, not overpowering and the chicken has never been dry (one of my biggest complaints about chicken on pizza is that it gets dried out). The pasta and sandwiches are definitely comfort food with huge portions which is great for left over lunch the next day. The kitchen works fast getting orders out quickly and the staff is always very nice. They close at 9:00pm and I've had nights that I call to order at 8:55pm and they are happy to take any order right up until 9:00 which I think is so nice of them. Not a lot of places in Concord are open late so it's great to have another food option. If Concord is out of the way for you, there are other locations, all are great. My wife said the Sicilian slice was good. The calamari was swimming in oil and soggy. The staff wasn't the friendliest.

The pizza we ordered was burnt black on the bottom. I ordered stuffed shells and got a place of 2 stuffed shells, and the rest penne pasta. Not what I wanted. The employees were rude and appeared annoyed when we weren't happy with the pizza. Would not recommend this place. read more
