Newest coffee/matcha shop in town! I am not sure how people found out about this place already but this place was packed & had a line when I went. The price difference (6/10 or 16/20) is for the grade of matcha & not for the size of drinks. Inside is nice & minimal. Good vibes. Even espresso machine looks extra fancy. They do take their time to make drinks so gotta be patient. I noticed a small price discrepancy on the menu on the table compared to the menu posted outside & in front of the register. Stopped by Comet Over Delphi to check out their reserve matcha latte. Compared to their regular matcha latte, this one uses one of their private selection matcha powders. I enjoyed the strong matcha flavors with an earthy, nutty profile. It was very well mixed with the milk. The pairing with the orange-y chocolate biscuit was helpful to balance out the earthiness and bitterness of the matcha. While this was a delicious drink, I've had similar quality matcha lattes that are cheaper in both LA and NYC. Their cheddar and chive scone was pretty standard. I wish it was heated up a little bit more to really soften the inside and crisp up the outer layers. Either way, the cheese and chive flavors came through. The minimalistic coffee shop is aesthetically pleasing and has a calm, serene feel. I love the different seating options from table, high top, couch, to windows ledge/sill. Food - 3.75/5 Matcha latte - 3.5/5 They call this A grade matcha and it was just ok. They do mention when ordering that it was just regular low grade matcha and that the S and SOM matcha (not latte) are more "rare" with SOM being the rarest. The person who took our order was right that the matcha latte was ok and nothing really note worthy. SOM Matcha - 4/5 taste - 2/5 price The SOM matcha is basically a shot of matcha with a earthy taste and smooth texture and finish. It was delicious, but definitely not worth the steep $10 cost. Latte - 3.75/5 The latte was good but not something I would say is note worthy that I'd go back specifically for. Service - 3.75/5 The staff is super friendly and what I assume was one (if not the owner) of this coffee shop were super helpful and passionate about coffee and matcha. I understand that at the time of this visit it was during their soft opening so I'm sure they are figuring out flow, staffing and logistics of the sort but it felt slow. They do have only 1 coffee machine, but it seemed like some patrons who ordered before us had been waiting a while for drinks. Ambiance - 4.5/5 I can appreciate the attention to detail of the space. The mix of industrial and mid century modern is pretty well done with a fair amount of seating. I did find it odd they had multiple copies of coffee table books but not sure if they were actually for sale or if it was just for decor. It definitely is a vibe spot to get photos for social or just wanna have cute cafe photos. Overall it's a vibe space, but feels more of a spot because of the vibe vs the coffee is anything super amazing. The menu feels a bit complex (they don't really have descriptions for items (unless you ask, you'd never really know the differences in matcha, what a magic latte is etc) but if you want a spot that's a vibe and a chill place to chat this would be a good spot for that. From the thoughtfully designed space to the genuinely welcoming service, everything felt intentional and cohesive. What stood out most, though, was how every drink offered something familiar yet excitingly different. Detailed Review: I first ordered the Kalamansi Espresso Soda and the Summer Einspanner. (a) Kalamansi Espresso Soda This reminded me of an espresso tonic but with a touch of added sweetness. Their espresso leans toward a bolder profile with earthy undertones, which paired beautifully with the tart kalamansi and the tonic's naturally bittersweet notes. It's like the Apple Store of craft coffee. I got a matcha americano for $9 which to my surprise was super potent and very caffeinated compared to any other matcha I've tried. Was able to check out Comet Over Delphi last weekened and the interior is beautiful. Staff are super friendly and efficient. The drinks are very expensive, I imagine you're paying for their rent or the cost of the interior. This is the type of place you'll go and your drink could end up being $10 pre tip so be warned. That being said, there is plenty of comfortable seating and you can catch up with a friend or people watch and let the day pass away comfortably. Not sure if I'll be coming back anytime soon because of the pricing because there are so many cafes in Los Angeles with great drinks that are priced lower. read more

I honestly don't usually care all that much about service as long as it hits a very low baseline, but literally every interaction I've had with them has been remarkable. I've had two coffee drinks (latte and Magic), and two matcha's (latte and iced). They don't sweeten much by default here, but they're happy to if you ask. Honestly, they pretty much accommodate everything. Just ask them about the drink you're considering and tell them how you usually like it. I'm a sucker for cafe with cute names!! The cafe has a lovely ambiance and the large, open windows really adds to its laidback vibe. My friend had the matcha yuzu and it was refreshing! I tried their matcha latte with oat milk (I didn't add sweetener) and had a darker, almost bitter taste. The drink was also more watery than milky in taste. I prefer my matcha on the sweeter end so I should've ordered it with sweetener, but I recommend it without for those who prefer their matcha non-sweet! The space is thoughtfully designed. There's plenty of seating, but it doesn't feel cramped or stuffy at all. I really liked how they incorporated the beams in the middle to create a natural standing area without disrupting the flow. Even though the line was pretty long when we arrived, it moved quickly and efficiently, which I appreciated. When we got to ordering the owner thanked us for being patient and even took a little time to explain how his wife designed the space. We ordered the Spanish latte and the matcha. The Spanish latte was excellent! Perfectly balanced, smooth, and not overly sweet. The matcha, however, leaned a little too bitter for my taste and could have used a touch more creaminess or sweetness to round it out. Happened upon Comet on a walk in our neighborhood. We are locals so I'm familiar with the coffee spots nearby but hadn't seen Comet yet. LOVE THIS PLACE. New favorite spot in town. Anytime I order a flat white and it's the correct temp (not too hot) and the person doesn't say "what size?" (That's not a thing... flat white is 8oz max) then I'm happy. The space is very beautiful and has plenty of tables. Had some good music playing in the background which was enjoyable as we stood in line to get our drinks. There was a good variety of espresso and Matcha drinks. I got the Matcha coconut, which was delicious and refreshing. My friends and I had to take our drinks to go because all the tables were filled. I don't want to give a good review of this place because I don't want it to blow up and change. This place deserves all of the stars Simply put, it's the best tasting, strongest espresso in town. Unless you're looking for one of those adventurously flavored sweet milky drinks (in which case, you can go across the street to Monarca) this is the place to go the best, espresso drink anywhere in town. On top of that, although this place looks like you would get the stereotypical unimpressed hipster service, everyone I've dealt with there has been entirely pleasant and helpful. Comet Over Delphi is a gorgeous spot in Highland Park that's minimal and industrial without being cold and impersonal. Instead, it's spacious and airy with plenty of natural lighting. Service is warm, friendly, and informative and the venue boasts one of the nicest and most spacious bathrooms I've ever seen in a coffee shop. I ordered their reserve matcha latte with oat milk. I absolutely loved the presentation of the drink. It came on a silver tray complete with a delicious butter cookie as a bonus treat. The matcha is fairly traditional in taste. Super bold and full of umami. I could tell it was high-quality on first sip because it was incredibly smooth with very little astringency and no bitter aftertaste. If you're someone who loves a sweet matcha, this is not that. However, after adding simple syrup to my drink, I enjoyed it. I will say it was pricier than any other matcha I've ever had. At $12 and $14 after tax/tip, it far out prices incredible matchas I've had elsewhere in LA and in the world. That said, they did have options matcha lattes that were made without their private selection matcha that were around $8. I'd be curious to try those, because I don't think the reserve one was worth the price tag. I wish I could've tried one of their light bites, but they weren't offering them the day I came in.
