This Galleria location on San Felipe in particular is convenient for me because I have a friend that lives in the apartments that this location is connected to. You can't go wrong with any of their pastries here. My favorites are their almond croissant, kouign-amann, sticky bun, and so much more. Probably my favorite Common Bond location. First time here I was very impressed. Houston is lacking coffee shops that cover all bases for options that I look for when I work from home~ A variety of seating options, parking, outlets, a full food menu, pastries, coffee of course. Also beer and wine options. This used to be a Local Foods so it is larger than the other CB real estate options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super spacious where you're not having to be right next to another table. It's very spread out and a bit busier around lunch time but still plentiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's also an upstairs seating area with maybe ~9 tables. Great for a little quieter. Common Bond was suggested to me by a friend, who was born and raised in Houston. I appreciated the rec since I have a sweet tooth and love a good bakery. I saw that Common Bond was a local chain, so the Galleria location was the closest to my hotel. The storefront was located at the bottom of an apartment complex with ample retail parking in its garage. I stopped by around 8am on a Wednesday. It wasn't too busy, but there was a constant flow of customers. I didn't know what to expect, but they had everything from macrons, les petits gâteaux, and pastries. Their croissants were huge by the way. Common Bond also had a menu of savory items. I was pressed for time, so I went for a mushroom and ricotta quiche, lavender and white chocolate macron, and a latte. The vanilla latte was fine, but the macron was perfection. The shell was crispy and soft, and the macron had an even amount of filling that was bursting with flavor. The lavender wasn't too overpowering. As friendly as the staff members were, I felt like they flubbed on my order. I got my latte and macaron nearly immediately after ordering, but I waited a long time for the quiche. The quiches were already made. They just needed to be reheated, so it shouldn't be taking a while. I reminded one of the employees that I was waiting for my quiche. She went to go check on it for me. In a haste I didn't check on the quiche at the restaurant. By the time I was at my destination for a meeting, I saw that the quiche had chorizo. I specifically asked for the mushroom and ricotta quiche, because I do not eat pork. It was a waste that I had to toss out the quiche and not get a chance to try one. read more

I did the *no tip* button, I was going to tip $1 cash, and then it automatically added $1.50 tip If all the cashier is doing is adding a cold pastry I shouldn't even have to tip. At first glance this little bistro + bakery is super cute and comforting. Despite having a slight crowd, there are so many different seating options. The workers were all super nice and friendly. They provided a lot of advice on what to get!! Accidentally our food was served to-go at first but they replated it for us!! For food, we got the crispy pork belly salad, shoestring fries with truffle and parmesan, brussel sprouts, and the shrimp po boy with tomato basil. The 1/2 and 1/2 combo with the sandwich and soup is a good deal if you want to try more than one thing. The other items we got were good too and my mom really liked them. Was so excited when this opened and ran over to see it. Gorgeous and giant with tons of seating inside and some umbrella covered tables outside! It was very clean inside and the bathrooms were clean! Parking was easy and there was plenty. As for the food! I got the tomato burrata sandwich and the plain fries and the crispy Brussels sprouts. Tomato burrata sandwich was great, it was a bit light on the balsamic jelly though. Fries were good but missing some salttt. The crispy Brussels sprouts (usually my favorite thing from common bond) were undercooked raw and hard to chew. Drink was not my favorite but I've never had a coffee I enjoyed at a common bond so it might be my personal taste. I want to like them I really do, but each time I walk away thinking that something's just not quite there. Typically my coffee order is not made to my liking so I've given up hope there. The staff can often be very hit or miss as well, just not sure what it is... I love the decorated atmosphere with the hues of blue, pink and yellow. The décor brings upon a soft and inviting atmosphere, perfect for catching up with friends or reading/working. Santiago and fellow crew members are wonderful. This bistro location of Common Bond has a decent selection of both savory and pastry items. I have tried a few of their savory items, and they were all delectable. Their soups in particular are some of my favorite. Pair it with a baked bread? Lush. Their pistachio croissants, as well as their macarons, brownies and cookies are the repeated sweet items you will find at any of their bakery locations. Just as tasty, sweet and memorable. It's great to see another location. There used to be a Local Foods here (which moved to the Galleria area). Location is excellent indoor and outdoor seating (as weather permits). Very similar vibe - just more Common Bond friendly, of course. Light and airy. It's got quite a bit of seating. Tried the cheese grits (usually come just for pastries), and it was OK - not the best, but I think cheese grits are very personal to taste. Their pastries are amazing, though. Was super excited this took over local foods! They had all the classic Common Bond bakery items like the pistachio croissant and nutella croissant which I ordered. Strange thing was that when I asked the cashier if she could toast it, she questioned me more than once. She told me that it wouldn't be warm anymore by the time I left. But, I wanted to take a bite out of it while I was waiting for my to-go items. So, I just didn't quite understand what the problem was to toast my croissants. It took a bit of a push and pull for her to heat up my pastry items. For to-go, I ordered a sausage & egg croissant sandwich. The egg was nice and runny. I visited Common Bond on San Felipe 2/5/2025 during the evening hours. I looked up the menu ahead of time. My intention was to try them on a weekend but I wanted something light and quick, so I stopped in and purchased the french onion soup and fries with parmesan. Here is why you get a three star: 1. Parking was easy 2. It was clean when I went in 3. Customer service was decent The food however was not worth the 14.00 I spent. The french onion soup did not have croutons, and it was not as hot or flavorful. The broth was greasy, and the cheese was scarce. The french fries were a nice shoestring cut but lacked flavor even with the parmesan added. The fries were not worth 5.99 The pastries may taste better but I will not chance it and spend money on something that may or may not taste good. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

I've been meaning to leave a review for a long time and drove by today and remembered. I was there one morning and witnessed the manager berating the employees in front of customers. As a supervisor, this is absolutely horrible behavior and I've never been back. I actually mentioned this to a good friend and they talked about some of the issues that they witnessed at this location as well as the Heights location. I'm not sure if they are owned by the same people but I will never give my money to any organization that berates their employees especially in front of customers. I hope that the owners read this and make the needed adjustments to be better. It's much more important to treat your employees with dignity and respect than to serve a product. I've always liked Common Bond and was excited they opened one in my neighborhood. However, please make sure to check your receipt. I had the ham and cheese sandwich but the price on the receipt was $3.00 higher than what the menu showed. For reference if you want the sandwich on a croissant they do charge $3.00 extra. I had ordered mine on the baguette. The cashier and manager were aware of the price discrepancy but they couldn't just refund me the money so they offered a pastry instead. Also, be aware that the pastry on the display shows $4.99 but they ring it up as $5.00. Yes, it's a penny difference but it does add up. The place was clean and not too loud.
