Try one of Glenn Ellyn's other restaurants. We went on Saturday, February 14th, 2026. @ 3:00pm. Odd hour I know. It worked for our schedule. Place was empty. I was craving corn beef, cabbage and red potatoes. The only item that was cooked correctly were the potatoes, melted butter added to the taste. As far as the cabbage, all taste cooked out of it. The beef was as dry as shoe leather (dried out and hard) and had absolutely no taste what so ever. Salt and pepper could not even bring any flavor. An Irish restaurant that can't cook a staple on its menu. Wait Service was adequate yet not exceptional. Menu listing. Corned Beef and Cabbage $16.95 Melt in your mouth slices of corned beef brisket served with a wedge of steamed cabbage with boiled red potatoes (Far from description) Interior, Dark and old, pub like. I've been here a couple times and there's always been something that makes we not want to come back. It just happens to be near good dinner spots so I'll end up here because it's close. The cocktails are not good. They have essentially no local beer. Maybe a single token brewery but I can't even recall what it would have been. And then they randomly close whenever they want instead of staying open their posted hours. The bartender looked like she hates her job and the owner or manager was just obviously in a bad mood when we were there last. We bought drinks at 10:15 and heard "last call" literally 5 minutes later. And 5 minutes after that they were rushing everyone out of the bar. Meanwhile their hours were open til midnight posted in multiple locations, I checked. I asked when they closed and the bartender just said "soon". Awful place and awful service. Arrived about 3:45 on a Saturday. We were seated pretty quickly, which was nice, but from there it went sideways really fast. After ordering drinks, we were asked if we had decided on our meal and we said not yet. Before our drinks arrived we were asked again...not yet. For the next 40 minutes we were asked about every 8-9 minutes. The manager walked by 3 times, different servers were sent when our guy(who was quite nice) couldn't get us to place our dinner selection, basically after 50 minutes were were exhausted from the full court press. For reference...we ordered about 4 beers in 35 minutes because we were continually harassed about ordering food. Won't be returning. read more

We came on a Friday night and had a great experience! It wasn't super busy and we had no problem being seated. Our server was very friendly. We both had the corned beef and cabbage and were very pleased! Can't say enough good things about the horseradish especially. Topped off our night with a chocolate martini for dessert and it was the perfect choice. We will definitely come back! Had a pretty good experience at Shannon's! Definitely has a little bit more of an upscale feel than other pubs. We had a corn beef burger and the turkey croissant. Everything was pretty good but definitely recommend getting just the regular corned beef. The sandwhich was good as well but confusing since the bread was warm and the turkey was cold. Our server was great, awesome memory and good service. Would go back for sure. The onion rings were also 10/10. read more

This is one of the worse pubs I've been to. The food is a bit lacking, seats are uncomfortable, place is too cramped, and the drinks are expensive. Quality- I tried the Irish sausage and cauliflower soup. The soup was actually not bad. I liked the flavor and crackers that went with it. I can taste the cauliflower chunks in the thick broth. It worked really well as a broccoli dipping sauce. The sausage was really dry. No moisture whatsoever. The beans tasted like it was from a can. The mashed potatoes were ok. Quantity- an ok amount came out for the price. I would have liked more soup for 6 bucks. Atmosphere- the few times I went there, it wasn't too crowded but there were always obnoxious people at the bar. One woman cackles like a witch nonstop and it was not a very pleasant meal. The tables are also very small and the music is too loud for dinner. Service- in the past, staff here can be a bit pushy trying to get you to buy more. I called ahead and made a reservation and they assured they had a table under my name and then was told by the host at the front that no one told him that and there was no way for him to find out who told me that and I would have to wait 45 minutes for a table. not sure what the point of taking reservations is if you're not going to respect them or have a table ready. was not offered any other options or the ability to speak to who I spoke with on the phone. very disappointed very disrespected. read more

Cute pub in downtown Glen Ellyn. Came in for lunch and ate like it was dinner. Very dim lighting with tvs all over. Appetizer- Ruben rolls: crispy and not too heavy. Like how thin sliced the corn beef was. I am a huge fan of sauerkraut so I wished there was more throughout. My gf is not a huge fan kraut so she was ok with the amount. Only time I like swiss cheese is with my Rubens. I feel you should always choose it wisely because it helps tie a ruben together. With that being said....the swiss flavor was barely there. Thousand Island was good, thank goodness because it is the key component. Meal- Pub Club and champ: Yum yum. Ham, real turkey (not lunch meat), lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, American cheese, comes with swiss but I subbed for Mozzarella. Toasted and warm. Champ is mashed potatoes, scallions, milk, butter....sounds so good but these ones were quite bland and dry. Chicken Cottage Pie : My gf and I love chicken pot pies so we had to give this a try and we are glad we did. Warm, filling, and hearty dish of joy. Pasty dough on bottom, stuffed, than topped with mashed potatoes and parmesan. Kids Meal: Hamburger with steak fries. Dairy free. My daughter liked it. Juicy and on a warmed bun. read more

There's a lot that went wrong here which is why I first chose the 2-star "Could've been better" rating. I'll rattle off the cons and end with the pros. But- the Reuben Rolls are so good, I'm giving them 3. Cons: - Server was aloof, not attentive, forgetful, and not good. If you can't remember an order for a 6 top, write things down. And the person you forgot on the ticket wasn't even the one who didn't get his food. How does that even happen? - They have drinks on the menu they can't serve. 86 them. - We asked for a pickle at least 5 times before it came back "we're out of pickles." 86 it. - We asked for ranch 5 times before we got it. - The fries were all cold - The bun on the burger was stale; the top just peeled and flaked off like dead skin after a sunburn. - The burger was inedible. Just a dense pile of solid, overcooked, unseasoned beef. The manager was shocked saying "we never get complaints about our burgers." SIR. EXCUSE ME. Pros: - The drinks were fine. - The Reuben Rolls appetizer is AMAZING. - A friend who got the Reuben sandwich said it was very good. - The manager was very humble and nice and took my burger off the ticket without me asking or making a fuss. - I got a side salad instead of fries and the side portion was very generous compared to other restaurants. Not good I am afraid. Should of known as we were 1 table out of maybe 6 people tops on a Sunday lunchtime. Poor service - kids meals came out 10 Mins before ours (not on purpose either). 2nd round of drinks took 15 mins because bar server was chatting to her 'local' customer. Even our waiter stood next to her and never said anything until bar server said 'oh I didn't see this order'. Food was disappointing. Burgers were thin, lack of taste except the cheap meat taste. The Irish breakfast was a joke - just a name and not actual traditional Irish breakfast (we are British so we were excited by the menu) - no mushrooms that were stated on the menu, cold sliced tomatoes (not half cut and grilled), sweet American style beans, some kind if vile pork thing (not a bacon rasher) and weird tasting sausages. I doubt they even know where Ireland is let alone the food. read more

i almost always enjoy shannon's. only one bad meal there in a decade. two of us were there for dinner about a week ago. our server was really cute, and really nice, but he really needs some training. once we got our food, he never checked on us again, just zoomed by many times and totally ignored us. it was my birthday, and my friend had arranged for a piece of key lime pie for me. it never materialized. finally, she asked another waiter (mariano, who we love) and he brought it. then the check never came. we finally had to ask the manager for the check. on the plus side, the tuna melts were fabulous, as usual. they're the best. when i go back, i'm going to be sure to get a different waiter. read more

We were passing through town on our way to an appointment and we were somewhat limited on time...but hungry. We stepped inside this cute Irish pub and were greeted and seated quickly. The stained glass is pretty and the service was attentive. There was one other couple when we entered and another two people showed up before we left. It was super quiet for a pub atmosphere. I love soup and so when I learned they had a chicken veggie option, I went with it. It was really yummy! I tried the fried shrimp with mashed potatoes while the hubs went for the fish & chips. The shrimp was good. The potatoes were not. They tasted old and like they were from a box. I asked the server about this and she said they were fresh but sometimes they added boxed potato flakes to thicken it up. Please stop doing that to perfectly good potatoes. Before I asked the server, I ate two bites just to make sure and they just left a bad taste in my mouth. The fries were just frozen, deep fried fries. Classic Irish pub and the rueben rocks. The bar and atmosphere makes you feel like you were transported to Ireland. The bartender had beautiful curly red hair and green eyes, the looks a folk song is written about which made the beers enchanting. Stumbled across this tonight. We were in the area looking for somewhere to eat and catch the beginning of a ball game. We walked in and I liked how cute the pub was. It was very quaint, it was decorated nicely with fall and Halloween decor. We arrived at the tale end of the busy dinner time so the waitresses were all busy. We waited for a few minutes to get seated but we were acknowledged right away. We sat at one of the high top tables so that we could see the tvs. We ordered drinks, my bf ordered a beer and I ordered a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was not good at all, it lacked flavor and vodka. I swear there was no alcohol in my drink. For dinner my bf got the shrimp and chips and I got the beef medallion sandwich. My sandwich had tender, juicy, flavorful pieces of meat along with sautéed onions, tomatoes and a horseradish spread. I enjoyed my sandwich very much. I ordered fries with that and the fries were delicious too. My boyfriend was in heaven with his shrimp. He kept saying how great the batter was, and I just had to try, and boy oh boy, was that some good shrimp. The fact that the food was good and all of the servers were attentive made up for the very bad Bloody Mary. I will most definitely return, to try the corned beef and cabbage. read more

We had dinner during the week at Shannon's Irish Pub, it was recommended by a friend, and the meal was enjoyable. It's your pretty standard Irish pub: there's a lot of wood décor, there is a decent-sized bar, and plenty of tables/booths to accommodate individuals and groups. When we were there, like I said during the week, it was very quiet - but that seems to be par for the course with downtown Glen Ellyn as a whole... Anyway, the place is well looked after and kept pretty clean (unlike standard pubs haha). The bathroom, as well, is the same. We posted up at nice little table for two along with front windows and enjoyed a small bit of privacy from the broader dining room. However, with that came the slight feeing that our waitress was forgetting we were up there. While she took our orders promptly, and the food came out nice and hot, the rest of the time we did not see her very much. We're not very high maintenance so it wasn't a big deal, but our water did dry up on several occasions. The menu is not what you'd call "HUGE" but the selection is solid. We had a burger (standard) and the Chicken Wings (pretty solid and very sizable) with the Shrimp and Chips (HUGE portion of fries and a good amount of shrimp, 9, that were pretty enjoyable). Overall I'd say it's pretty standard pub fair but it came out hot, tasted "freshly" made, and the portions are more than enough to fill you up. We had a fine time here and we will certainly keep it in mind for future meals and pop-ins. read more

Met a friend for dinner and was seated on their back patio area. When I arrived for dinner at about 6pm, it was sunny and 75 degrees and the patio vibe was awesome for a weekday summer night. I ordered a sandwich which was absolutely delicious! The server allowed me to sub a Caesar salad for the tossed salad for no charge, which is fantastic. The tiled patio is surrounded by brick walls which allows for a cozy area with a private feel. I've never been to Ireland, but it's what I imagine the living room of a cottage in the hills would look like! The indoor dining room has beautiful bar with lots a woodwork throughout he room. I loved my experience, felt the value of my good was well over the price I paid, the service was kind/quick/attentive and I will be back! I have two kids under 2 years old and a night out is few and far between right now. Nice know this place is a sure-thing good time! read more

I wish I could leave a review about the food here. Unfortunately I didn't make it that far. I was greeted by a terribly rude waitress who was apparently extremely put out that I would show up looking to eat, as she remarked to someone at the bar after she left my table. I was one of two people in the restaurant and I hopelessly waited for the return of my waitress with my drink order and to presumably take my food order. Alas, she did not come back. I waited and eventually had to give up hope of being waited on by anyone. From what I could tell there was not a single staff person on the floor...they were all in the back, not helping customers. After reading plenty of bad reviews on the food and service here, I decided I should be thankful to have been given the cold shoulder and get out while I could. *Note to management - you many want to check your server schedule for who was on around 3:00 on 10/21, and unless she's family, fire the waitress that is chasing business out of your front door. read more

Shannon's isn't anything special. It's your standard Irish pub imitation, straight down to the wooden decor and low lighting. I would get over the general homely person nature of this restaurant if the service were even mediocre, but it isn't. The service is terrible here. I've been here several times with large groups that have reserved the back porch area and the service was still horrible. Every time I've gone to Shannon's, I hope that they treat me better. I feel like its emotionally-neglected spouse after our 25th wedding anniversary. Most of their food is bland, luckily it's not all that expensive. Their beer selection isn't anything to write home about. They carry basically everything you would expect a suburban knock-off Irish pub to carry; no surprises or hidden gems here. Shannon's isn't a horrible place to have a drink or two if you don't mind neglectful service from ornery wait staff. But if you can go elsewhere, please do so. read more

Awful service. Came in was told to seat ourselves. After 20 minutes of wait staff passing by, not one server offered a menu or acknowledged our presence. We had a group of 6. When we inquired about menus, the female bartender made a wheel motion with her hands and said "this is why it is taking so long" and rolled her eyes. At that point we got up and went accoss the street to the Wooden Barrell, which was even busier than Shannons but received much better service!! Enter into a dimly lit room; I see a back area that basically doubles the size of the establishment. I walk right up to the older gentleman at the hosting station and he asks me where I want to sit. Of course the Winter XGames are on so I sit where I can see the most televisions. It takes a while to get my server,Brian, to entertain my appetite, but I believe that is because the host didn't tell him there was a new guest. After that I had great service (it wasn't too busy, but there were at least 20 patrons in the front area, and many more who left later from the back room). The host quickly turned the television closest to me to the XGames per my request. The food was really tasty. Calamari was cooked perfectly; not raw, not rubbery. I tried the Burgundy Pepper Hanger Steak and it was friggin' great though a bit underdone. Brian also recommended I try the encrusted mash potato....
