Credit union doesn't support trust accounts. Credit union pulls a credit check without your approval or knowledge. Credit union refuses to update your address if you move out of santa Clara-- they'll keep sending mail to your old address. I'm getting our money out of this credit union and not looking back they are by far the worse financial institution I've ever worked with. I have 5 other credit unions I deal with and none of them are as incompetent as this one. read more

I've banked here for 18 year and I've had it. 1. Tellers at the bank and on the phone are incompetent. Not once in 2 year have I not spoken to a supervisor because the tellers have no clue. 2. The tellers are uneducated the speak unprofessionally eg. "um like", "well like it's because". 3. Put my funds on hold because I was traveling. When I returned it took them a week to turn my cards on. I spent a total of 17 hours on the phone in 7 days trying to get help. Finally the manager apologized and said she was going to mail me a 10$ Starbucks card for all my trouble. I never received the gift card and I was without my two checking accounts. 4. They are struggling to keep up with other larger banks. Their online services stall, or shut down, the app is basic in comparison to other larger credit unions. 5. When calling I often wait 30 minutes to speak to someone. I'm done. I'm taking my 2 Checkings, 2 savings, car loan, 2 children's accounts, and money market to a new bank. And then I'm cancelling my visa. In addition my Mother In law, sister in law, adult daughter are all fed up and leaving this bank too. read more

I have been a member of Commonwealth for about 12 years. Not sure why I'm even still using them. I get ZERO reward for being a long-time loyal member. In fact, I get the opposite... Their mobile app has failed me a few times. This last time was the last straw. Every time I get overdraft fees, it's because I either had fraud on my account or their online banking has failed me. When I called for help on a Saturday, Desiree told me I would get a call on Monday. Didn't happen. So when I had to call again on Tuesday, Michelle was super rude and sarcastic. When I said I was unhappy and might have to switch banks because this is a continuous problem. She replies in the most smarta** tone, "OK I'm sorrrry!" Then she began to interrupt me to tell me history on my account from 3 years ago. Wtf. I'm done. Your employees are rude, inexperienced, inconsiderate, and have no sense of customer service, and your mobile and online services are terrible! read more

This is literally the worst bank I have ever dealt with. First things first -- I am NOT a member. (THANK GOD.) I called American Express and asked them where I could get traveler's cheques from since I didn't have time for AmEx to send them to me via mail. They cited CommonWealth as a "partner". So I call the local branch, just near my house, and they tell me "no, we're not that branch, we're corporate." Ok, no big deal, although "corporate" is literally 5 feet from the branch. Anyway, they tell me they need to find out if the local branch has the cheques. They said they would call me back. They did not. I called them again, and they said sure, they have the cheques. In ALL of my conversations, I made it clear I was NOT a CommonWealth member, and they said it was no problem. I showed up and asked for my cheques, and they said if I didn't pay in cash, I would have to pay all kinds of fees as a "cash advance" via ATM, credit card, etc. This despite AmEx calling them their "partner." And I should point out that the teller took what seemed like a million crappy incoherent words to explain this. She was clearly never going to make MENSA. Anyway, I said fine, I will go to one of the branches that was open on Saturday, and bring cash. So I went to the Milpitas branch. It took 30 minutes for them to tell me they could not give me traveler's cheques if I wasn't a member. I brought up the fact that I was NOT a member in EVERY conversation I had thus far. EVERYONE said it didn't matter. But he was told that I was ineligible to get cheques. I SHOWED HIM their OWN #1 result on the AmEx site that they were a place where AmEx customers could get cheques. This dude (though nice) told me I was wrong. To summarize, 4/5 people I have encountered at this franchise (over the phone and physically at 2 franchises) are total morons. None of them are on the same page and they're pathetically inept. I went to Chase after this and it took me FIVE MINUTES to get my cheques. Pathetic. I WOULD NEVER BECOME A CUSTOMER OF THIS CRAPPY ASS BANK. IT IS A JOKE. read more

I originally opened my accounts at the Morgan Hill branch over 6 years ago. Best decision I ever made now that banks are feeing the crap out of everything. There's fees here too but for stuff you expect like over-drafting. Every type of loan or assistance I needed was always smooth and hassle free. Great interest rates. Love the people here too. This is the worst bank I have ever had a account with. I left Bank of America after almost 10 years because after a few bad experiences and I was told credit union's were the way to go. NO WAY! They have the worst customer service, their mobile app is so slow and your transactions don't post until days after, leaving you a very inaccurate balance. They are closed Saturdays. They don't offer any over draft protection warnings. What made me close my account was when they started placing holds on my direct deposits from my work. They would place up to 3 day holds on a direct deposit! They rest of my coworkers would get paid right away. When I went into both the Moran Hill branch and Silver Creek to complain I was told they would release the fund right away for a $25 fee. That was when I had enough. I would not recommend ever coming here for anything! Horrible, horrible customer service. Bank of America or another large bank is much better and treats their customers like they are valuable, which you will not get here at Commonwealth Central Credit union. read more

It's either they randomly slap a few charges on my account (not small ones either, $32!!!) not to mention if I want to transfer money it HAS to be on their terms when they can, and there's a limit on how many times I transfer from my phone, really?? That's ridiculous! What if I'm around people who I dont want to know I'm transferring money, if the bank is closed and I've used my "six transfers" I can't transfer money AT ALL. Fantastic customer service! I recently came in to this branch to finalize a loan for a new Tesla. Tesla had waited until 24 hours before delivery to tell me my car was coming, and I had to get the loan and leave with a check before close. Since Tesla had been so delayed in getting my car, my preapproval had expired. On top of that, the paperwork Tesla provided was incomplete. Veronica, the branch manager, personally handled my loan. She called Tesla multiple times, hung in hold and was patient with the Tesla reps who were all a bit undereducated on the third party funding process. Finally, she just told me to go back to work and said she'd keep working on it. She took care of everything, finalized the loan and secured the check in a couple of hours, and called me to tell me the check was ready. What could have been a very time consuming and frustrating process was a breeze - she took care of everything and provided the best customer service I have ever received in a bank. Thanks read more

MIGHT have to run them in to a Federal agency AGAIN! Today another ERROR by Commonwealth Central Credit Union. USED up my time to assist them in correcting THEIR errors. I've used this bank since 1995 and it is amazing to me their complete lack of integrity, ethics and incompetence. In the past they've had to be forced to do just the basics and I had to file a complaint to the FTC and Department of Business Oversight, THEN magically they did the right thing when a federal agency breathed down Commonwealth's neck and MADE them do the right thing. In 2014 they were audited and overcharged me over $600 that year. Today, they refused to admit their error when CLEARLY it was their error evidenced by paperwork. I told the woman today with the last 5 years of errors on their part it looks a LOT like harassment. Commonwealth CCU is the WORST BANK I've ever had and they keep getting worse. DO NOT use this bank or believe their excuses, do what I did with the majority of my business and go to another bank. UGH! read more

I have been a member for a very long time and not once have I experienced a rude call center rep as rude as this one. Her name was Shana and she was uneducated, lack of knowledge and rude. She made me feel stupid and gave me wrong information. I asked about a loan and she tried explaining it to me but nothing made sense. When I finally spoke to a loan officer, he explained everything thoroughly but Shana was awful. I've never been so upset at this credit union until I spoke with her. If you ever speak to a call rep named Shana, just ask for someone else. read more

I have been a member of this credit union for 25+ years, I have used if extensively for all my banking and I have watched it become one of the absolute worst companies I've ever dealt with. The only reason I've kept them for the last few years is b/c I've got a few loans left to pay off. Their customer service is ignorant, unwilling to listen to even the simplest of requests/questions from a customer, and never (and I repeat NEVER) give you accurate information. Let alone, follow through with what they say they're going to do. Five phone calls, five different answers, none of them accurate. This company was once good, hence why I signed up with the in the first place, but this last 25+ years it has become a joke. An absolute joke. I can't wait to have these last 2 loans paid off to sever my ties with them once in for all. I've been putting up with their incompetence and arrogance for way too long. Especially for being a long time, LOYAL, customer with GREAT credit and I have put a TON of money through their bank over the last 25+ years. There is NOTHING about this company that is worth dealing with if you don't have too. For the record, today was the 9th time in the last 6 months that I've had to deal with inaccurate information, complete lack of listenting to my original concern/question that caused me to do unnecessary work, on my own, just to find out that what they told me in the first place wasn't even remotely close to being accurate.
